Customers admire the Home Cinema 1040 1080p 3LCD Projector's impressive picture quality, brightness, and ease of use. Many also find it easy to set up and a good value for the price. However, some customers note that the fan can be a bit loud and the projector generates noticeable heat. A few users also mention limitations with the HDMI capabilities.

After looking for a projector with 1080p and bright enough for outdoor movie nights, this one went on sale. Very happy with this projector. Using a blue ray player or Apple TV via hdmi cable could not be easier. Setting it up and focusing is a snap too. I do recommend a portable speaker though, the built in is not great if you are used to a nice theater set up. It will fill a huge screen perfectly for the outdoor set up. I highly recommend it.

Great projector with very good lumens. I did not buy for home movies but, use it for presentations for work. Very portable but, not compact. Trade off for a brighter display. Epson has a business version for a few hundred more but, I really can’t tell the difference other than the business version has a slightly different resolution and WiFi in a black shell. This comes with NO case so you will want to get something if you are mobile - I put mine in an old laptop case - fits fine with remote which is included. It is mountable and inverts. It has a great short and long throw for the distance of a conference room and great picture. Focus is easy to adjust. I connect a Apple Tablet and a computer to the two hdmi connectors at the same time and show both screens side by side or switch back and forth with the remote which takes a second or two and a little practice. But, Nice feature. It is not a split screen so it is almost like having two projectors next to each other. There is a 2 second delay changing the source. The rest is very simple and easy to use. Has a built in lens cover door. Speaker is not a Bose quality speaker but, much better than a phone or my dell pc. The remote can be used as a pointer (arrow cursor) not a laser pointer.

We are using this for a home theater. The colors on this projector are fantastic. Brightness is very good for a room that is not darkened. Was easy to set up.Fan noise is a little louder than i would have liked, but nothing overwhelming. All in all, a good choice.

Bought this for back yard movie night portion of daughter's 10th birthday party. Was complaining about how expense it was (after a failed attempt of less costly generic HD projector). Now we use it all the time for back yard movie nights. Super bright, super clear and so easy to use.

This Epson - Home Cinema 1040 1080p 3LCD Projector works better than a 1080p TV set for the same one. I project it on the wall for my TV for a 40" "screen". on game day, I project in on the big wall for a 5x7foot screen and the brightness and color are still outstanding. Much more enjoyable than having a TV set. when not in use, we put it back in the cabinet and do not have the big TV cluttering up the family room.

Extremely easy to set up. I haven't played with the settings too much and the picture is amazing right out of the box and I'm sure it will be even better when tweaked a little. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase. The only drawback is not being able to connect things to it wirelessly but I think it is capable with additional equipment that is not included but it's not a deal breaker for me.

Easy to setup, and directions were easy to read. This is my 1st projector, and my entire family loves it. I can't say how crystal clear the picture is, and even works in our living room with light. I love this so much, and no issues.

I bought this as a replacement to the 2030. It unfortunately lost hdmi capabilities and the warranty had just expired. Mind you, the 2030 was a replacement from Epson for the exact same hdmi issues. This projector’s throw isn’t the same as the 2030, which was a bit of a letdown. It also doesn’t have the 3D option. Overall, for a last minute replacement, it did the trick but I’d rather have my 2030.

This thing is freakin AMAZING! I DO NOT have vaulted or high ceilings, so with a ceiling fan w/ 4 lights in between the projector and the wall it's projecting on, the picture is still crazy clear and sharp... reviews online talked about one of the main differences between the 1040 and the 2045 is the lag in motion but watching sports (like basketball, watching the small ball travel through the air) and action movies looks no different than an LCD screen. And that on top of a 3,000 to 5,000 hour more life span on the bulb.... EXCELLENT! The ONLY issue I have is that it is NOT Bluetooth capable which sucks cause I really like my wireless LG soundbar but hey, gives an excuse to the wife for a new sound system... Picture taken with lights on and in "ECO" mode which gives up to 10,000 hour bulb life.

I got it on sale and I am sure glad I did. This is my first projector and has not failed me. Picture quality is way better than my tv. I've been using the projector outside at night for movie, fight and sports nights. Good thing about this projector is that it has various inputs.

This projector can create clear images on walls in a bright day lit room. However, depending on your backdrop, like a white wall, you wont get true blacks. At night however the images look a lot like going to a movie theater right in your livingroom. I use this with my laptop, so the fact that it has no audio out on the projector was not an issue, I just connected laptop speakers through the headphone jack.
It is very adjustable, with an easy to use remote control operated menu, allowing you to change brightness, contrast etc. Even half power economy mode to keep your lamp from burning out, extending the life of the replaceable bulb. These options allowed me to better use this projector for art projects, such as tracing an image from my computer onto a canvas or wall.

Theater was due for an upgrade however I didn't want to spend lots of money, especially for a 4K one. Needed a good quality 1080p one. This one is very bright and able to work in lit room situations. Great color contrast. Only thing I wish had was a better size a adjustment. Before you mount this make sure it is exactly where you want it to be to fill the screen perfectly. It will be difficult to do so after the fact.

We have had this projector for a little over 6 months now and it has been working good so far. The picture is pretty clear but it has to be completely dark. We tried to put it outside for movie nights during the summer but we would end up watching movies well after 10 or sometimes 11 at night because that would be the time it would get dark where we live. So we now have it in our movie room and it works perfect.

I really like this projector, but it is difficult at best to get good sound. It has no optical cable, which almost every sounbar runs off. The sound from the projector itself is not very good for outside use so I tried to set up a soundbar and had to break out all sorts of junk to do it. I finally found out that the roku4 has an optical outlet so I bought one, hooked it up and ran an optical to the sounbar and now I have sound, but really, no optical or even rca outlets for sound. That was frustrating. If not for Roku 4 I would have had to take it back. great otherwise.

We hemmed and hawed about a projector for years. We finally decided to take the plunge, and after reading some great reviews of this one, we went for it. The picture is awesome (we haven't even needed a screen), the sound is decent. We've loved having our own "home theater." It does get a little loud with the fan, and I'm curious how we're going to figure out logistics like hooking up to a soundbar/DVD player/etc in a permanent location, but even in its state on our coffee table, it's been an unregretted purchase. (I'm only bummed that it's dropped $50 less than a few months after us buying it, and another $100 for Labor Day sales. Oh well!)

We bought this to put in our finished basement/ home theater set up. We ended up buying a screen and universal mount on amazon but it's a great system overall, easy to hook up and the picture is great. We have it set up right now for 100in screen. Some people complained about noise, which you can sometimes hear it when its quiet in between scenes but only really when you're paying attention to it. Never took away from a show/movie we were watching. We have a sound bar connected to it to boost sound because it's semi loud but not the theater feel we wanted. Don't have any complaints with it, and happy with the price vs others we looked into
