The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1060 1080p 3LCD Projector was even better than I expected. It has a brilliantl 1080p HD picture on a massive scale. I have it set up in a room about 13 feet away from the wall it is projecting upon. The setup gives me a screen size of roughly 15 feet wide by 5 feet tall. According to my calculations, that is a screen size of around 190 inches. Yes, one hundred ninety inches! That blows away my 55-inch tv. The picture is every bit as bright and clear too. It can be made bigger or smaller depending on where you put it too. It has the incredible ability to straighten the picture and make it perfectly rectangular, even if the projector is slightly turned. It hooks up to many different streaming machines to show your favorite pictures/movies/shows in gigantic scale. Mine is hooked up to my Xbox One with a simple HDMI connection. It is portable so I plan on taking it onto the back patio for some nighttime outdoor movie fun with the kids and we’re also going to take it camping. It has a speaker built in so you don’t need anything else to play your shows, but the speaker isn’t the greatest so I would recommend using an external speaker to really make it an incredible theater-like experience. I am in love with this product and everyone that's seen it is completely impressed by it.

Pros
3100 lumens for both color and white
Good brightness even with indirect sunlight in room
Nearly silent on ECO and barely audible on Normal
Dual HDMI inputs
MHL support on second HDMI input
Useable integrated speaker for a projector
Color balance is very good
Great quality for the class of projector
Automatic keystone often works well.
Cons
Status LEDs cannot be disabled and can be distracting
Keystone adjustment leaves dark gray square making sometimes appear incorrect
Front angle adjustment typically means blocking lens and picture
Front angle adjustment steps often do not stop where expected
Manuals provided on CD instead of other more modern digital formats
Zoom and Focus controls are difficult to move when fully to a side
Doesn’t include any input cords, only the power cord
The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1060 is a midrange, Full 1080P projector for people looking for a projector that is both capable and affordable. With the primary purpose being home use, noise levels are also given attention. As the name suggests, the Cinema 1060 can operate as a cinematic projector but it's primary focus is on casual viewing.
The Cinema 1060 can achieve up to 3100 lumens in both color and white, whereas cheaper projectors often only have higher lumens in the whites leading to a washed-out image. This translates to a very bright image in a light controlled room and a usable image in one with indirect lighting. The proper projector screen would go a long way in boosting its capabilities. Color accuracy is very good, which is helpful since color adjustments are limited. With a 15,000:1 contrast ratio you will have a good range of blacks but don't expect inky blacks. The most the Cinema 1060 can achieve is dark gray without a screen but if you have a white or light tan wall it can still display a very good image. When playing a movie on a textured tan wall at night it was hard to even notice that the wall had texture or that there wasn't even a screen.
Even without the inky blacks of a modern OLED screen, the Cinema 1060 feels like a worthy tradeoff. The image is larger and more immersive than even the largest flat screen. Typically, flat panels playing lower resolution content will create noise or artifacts making the picture look strange. Since projectors blow up the image optically instead of digitally you still have a very clean image, only softer like in the movies. Motion blur was never detected but our family doesn't typically watch sports. Epson says their display technology prevents blooming and it appears they have solved the issue as no blooming could be detected. Gaming is very enjoyable but there is a short adjustment period. Playing games on such a large screen can initially feel so immersive you feel as though you are physically moving creating some initial disorientation. If you prefer oversaturated colors over color accuracy you can use Dynamic mode. One thing to keep in mind is that using Dynamic or what is call Bright Cinema turns off Eco mode. It you get a much brighter image with the tradeoff being shortened bulb life and a slightly louder noise output. Thankfully the bulb should still last a long time and is relatively cheap to replace and the noise levels are still very good.
As a home projector, it certainly feels like Epson simplified some of the traditional complications and drawbacks of projectors. It comes with a basic setup guide and a full manual on CD, but the basic guide should be enough for most. The white color is easier to blend with most home interior colors when mounted so you don’t necessarily need to try to hide it. If you are accustomed to the loud fans on work projectors you will be thankful that Epson has found a way to keep noise levels more reasonable. On Eco mode, it is possible to sit 1 foot away from the projector and watch a movie without being disturbed. You can hear it but the sound is neither loud, nor unpleasant. On normal mode your movie experience is not adversely affected by being even 3 feet away. If there is anything to be annoyed about, it is the status lights on the top of the unit. The power light is bright blue and the Wi-Fi blinks bright blue continuously. An option to turn them off or if they turned on only for a brief period during changes it would be much better as the lights can be distracting in a dark room. If the projector is located behind the viewers this is not an issue so the severity of this issue depends on projector location.
Setup follows the theme of simplicity. On startup, it automatically searches for a valid input. If you only have one device plugged in or turned on, it will automatically switch the appropriate input. HMDI2 is MHL compatible so if you want to use a streaming stick plug it in there. You can manually switch just by pressing the input button or the input menu on screen as well. When setting up, you can adjust the angle with a single foot on the front. It is simple to operate although you will likely block the projected image while adjusting since your hand will be in the way. The foot also has stops which seem to drop just a little right after you set it down. Keystone adjustment appears to be optical and not digital. This does create one minor issue. When you adjust the keystone, it creates a "shadow" of where the overall projector light lands and then the actual corrected image. The shadow area is a dark gray area in color. When watching light scenes, the picture will appear to have the correct shape but if the colors at the edge begin to match the dark gray it will give the perception the projected image is distorted. Ideally, a projector should be displaying as close to a 90-degree angle to the screen as possible for best picture and at this angle there would be no issues with the shadow.
Overall the PowerLite Home Cinema 1060 is a great home projector that offers a nearly hassle-free setup and control experience allowing you to spend more time enjoying your new home theater experience. Even at the full suggested retail price this projector is well worth the money. It does have a speaker but to further enhance your experience you should use external speakers. Also, if your budget allows, you should purchase a good quality projector screen to further enhance your experience as projectors can’t reach their full potential without the other half of the equation. If the screen isn’t in the budget yet you can still enjoy the benefits of the Cinema 1060 with a light colored surface.

All around great projector!! I brought this late 2018 and here it is 2025 and it’s STILL going strong! The picture is perfect. The sound is great. I could ask for a better product.
I fell in love with the Split Screen feature. She wants to her shows and I want to game. WE BOTH WIN! You have the option of have two 47 inch screens to view or one 65 inch and another 32 in screen.
If you are looking to get your moneys worth look no further.

I've had an old EPSON projector since 2009, which was only 480p, so when I upgraded to this new EPSON projector I was expecting big things. The picture quality is really great and the lumens make it bright enough to watch with the lights on, which is exactly what I was looking for. The two HDMI slots, along with the other inputs are also a huge upgrade.
The only thing I took for granted was the how the projection actually made its way onto the screen. There is no lens shift and barley any room for error when it comes to screen size. on the old projector I could put it anywhere in the room, near or far, left or right, and I could get the perfect size screen needed. this projector needs to be exactly right for you to fit it where you want it. it also shoots the screen almost straight up in the air, which makes no sense to me. I've had to put about 8 inches of coasters underneath the back of the projector just to get it to shoot the screen straight across. overall a good image but a lot of hassle for screen size. also my chromecast doesn't work in the HDMI slot made for wireless connection.

Amazing Home Theater On A Budget
Posted .

I'm an avid movie watcher and gamer. After tiring of LED/OLED TVs I decided to put together a home theater gaming system on a budget. After a ton of research and reading through a copious amount of reviews I decided to buy the Epson 1060. Setup was a breeze and the amazing picture quality blew me away.
Components: Xbox One S HDMI to J-Tech Digital 1080P HDMI to HDMI + Audio Extractor Convertor to EPSON 1060 with Optical audio out to Vizio SB3651-E6 surround sound.
Setup: My projector is setup on top of my Xbox on a stand above and behind my couch projecting onto a dark brown wall at a distance of 11ft. The smallest image size from that distance is 5'x9' and the max image size is 6'x10'. While watching movies it's set to bright cinema due to the dark brown wall and while gaming set to dynamic because I like the vivid colors. It would be ideal to paint the wall with Bear Ultra Pure White 1050 which can be found at Home Depot.
Picture: The 1080p 3100 lumens 15,000:1 contrast ratio picture quality is amazing! It's a projector, it wont be as bright during the day, but it'll blow your socks off at night. Whites are super bright, blacks are black, colors are vivid. The image quality of the picture I uploaded below has been degraded by the upload, but you'll get the idea.
Internal Audio: The projectors internal speaker is loud, but sounds tinny.
External Audio: There are no HDMI audio or Optical audio out ports. Easy fix with a J-Tech Digital 1080P HDMI to HDMI + Audio Extractor Convertor to 25ft. Optical cable (buying an expensive receiver is not necessary) out to Vizio SB3651-E6 surround sound.
Fan Noise: It's a projector, you're going to hear it, but you forget about it while watching movies or gaming.
Bulb Life: Normal mode up to 4500 hours. That's 24 hours a day for 187.5 days. Who watches movies or games that much? $60-$100 replacement through Epson.
Product Issues: Buy the extended 2 year warranty for $99, Best Buy will replace it.
Final Thoughts: The Epson 1060 is an amazing projector and easily exceeded my expectations. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Even my girlfriend who doesn't really care about these things loves it. It's also portable and can easily be moved outside or to friends and families houses for movie, game, sports, or fight nights. If you're looking for higher contrast or deeper richer colors, then spend more money and buy the higher end more expensive projector or a crazy expensive and bulky LED/OLED TV that meets your needs. If you're on a budget at $549 the Epson 1060 is hands down the best projector on the market.

Bright, crisp picture

The Epson 1060 1080p projector is the first projector I've owned, so the only comparisons I have are projectors I've used at work. Compared to those, the picture from this projector is much brighter and the colors are much more vivid. The cooling fan on this projector also seems to be a bit quieter than the one we use at work, although that one is mounted from the ceiling which might allow the fan noise to be heard more easily.
I had the projector out of the box and hooked to my cable box via HDMI in about 5 minutes. I think I will eventually mount this projector to the ceiling, but since that hardware isn't included, for now it's on a small table in the middle of the room. The settings on the projector are fairly well organized and easy to navigate, so after a quick read through the guide, I had a very nice, crisp picture displayed on a 65" screen; focusing and adjusting the image to fit the screen was quiet simple. I was really surprised at the quality and brightness of the picture since the room doesn't have blackout curtains, and at the time, the sun was fairly bright. Even with a fair amount of ambient light in the room, the picture was bright and clear, and the colors were excellent... at night, both were even better. The onboard speaker does a decent job for what it is, but if you're watching movies or anything 'sound intensive' you'll need another source for the sound. Another surprising thing was that even I after watched about an hour or so of various shows, when I turned the unit off, it didn't even seem like it was hot.
All in all, I think this is a great projector. The installation is simple, the resulting picture is excellent, and the projector is small enough to make it portable, if that's what you're looking for.

Pros:
-One of the least expensive, native 1080p video projectors
-Good keystone effects allow off-center placement
-Very bright: Max brightness is too bright at night, and acceptable during a daytime, sun-lit room. Perfect in an office with more controlled ambient lightning.
-Very cheap replacement bulbs (50$) and filters (7$) straight from the manufacturer.
-One of the two HDMI ports supports MHL for streaming devices and phone connectivity with the right cable (not included)
-Single built in speaker allows for out-of-the-box presentation ability (see Cons also)
Cons:
-Device fan can be loud for movies when I used it on a stand by my bed, unnoticeable when up on a shelf
-Device runs pretty hot as it uses a regular bulb (non-LED), again a non-issue if up on a shelf, and these devices are built for this so not a flaw really
-Speaker is very weak and you will most definitely want to plug-in external speakers for watching any media other than office presentations (see Pros)
I use this with a Chromecast, Nintendo Switch, and a laptop. Zelda is really fun on a 12' screen, but faster games like Rocket League on PC you'll notice a bit of input lag and ghosting although it does have true 60hz refresh rate. Movies look amazing. I'm throwing about 10' onto a greyish-beige wall, mostly likely even better quality if you use a screen. Device fan is variable and runs faster when not in ECO-mode. I use both regular mode and ECO-mode, as well as some user-defined profiles depending on the environment as I do move it. It is not considered a 'portable' projector, but it is very easy to move and has a pretty small footprint.

I'm not new to having a projector as a main screen. I have an older Epson that I watch everyday and loved. But years went by and it got old and tired. I was on the website and noticed this one by chance. Read the reviews did some research and I am so happy that I bought this projector it is absolutely beautiful the colors are stunning it's very bright even with the lights on it's no problem to watch it!! I am very happy!!
Just one thing that you may want to know there is no audio out. But I got around that by using my Xbox One and just running a long optical audio cable to the receiver.

I use this projector for watching movies and tv in my backyard. Great picture for an affordable price. With full sun during the day a mounted tv limited my options. This projector let's me move the picture to wherever I want (garage, fence, house, portable screen). The dual hdmi was a huge plus for connecting the laptop and/or fire stick etc.

This home cinema projector is awesome. It can be used indoors and outdoors, even in lit rooms, (have not tried it outdoors in daytime). I use it on the kickstand with no problems (not mounted). Has great adjustments to screen if projector is not centered and sharp focus. I was able to easily connect it to my laptop with an HDMI cable (not included). Controls and remote are simple and easy to use. The projector does have a built in speaker that would suffice close quarters with great sound. Projector does get hot and fan can be a tad loud, but this would not keep me from purchasing or returning the item.

I bought this to replace an aging XGA projector. I didn't want to spend a ton on money on a projector that I use occasionally for presentations and sometimes for school closing days with video games. Not only is the image bright enough for windows open presentations, but the image quality is great even at full size. It was much better than expected for this price. I cannot comment on bulb life or maintenance issues as it is new, but so far, it has been a great purchase. Very happy with it.

This is a great projector. Especially for the price! It’s got a nice bright picture and easy to use controls. We were using ours about 12 to 14 feet away on a 96 inch screen and it looked great! It really could use an audio out but there are easy ways around that and that’s just nitpicking anyway so you really can’t go wrong.

So this is my first home with a media room and truly trying to set up the experience. The picture quality amazed me. I don’t know a lot about projectors and expected a crappy view, but this picture was so good that we ended up deciding to forego the screen and use the wall so we could make the picture bigger.
My only compliant is that there isn’t bluetooth capability to hook up a sound bar. So we tried a large speaker and there’s not an Aux port either. Be prepared to run an optical cord SOMEWHERE or R,W,Y cables for sound. Which is rather unfortunate in this day and age. So until we can figure out a solution and find a sound system in our budget, we are using the speakers in the projector...which are ok. Good enough to get through a movie, but you won’t get that movie theater feel.
Other than that, we are very impressed with the projector.

Have had this for over a year we have used it more than a dozen times and it works great. I am not really that familiar with other projectors but this could easily be a family favorite! Everytime I bring this and the portable screen when the weather is good and my ROKU stick. The volume is rather low so I attach a portable speaker to the ROKU remote for audio. I suppose you can make this a more permanent fixture but we wanted more portability out of it. It does require a little adjusting to get the picture right but quality is bright, so long as direct sunlight not on where you are projecting. Great at night and bright! Excited to get this out for backyard fun!

Fantastic picture quality, sharpness, brightness. While best in a dark room, this projector is bright enough to content with moderate light (used in my den with two sliding glass doors). The only con is if you use this in a bright room and adjust your picture settings to compensate, the projector cooling fan will get significantly louder.
If you're in the market for a projector, you know that the built-in speaker is trash and will be using a better sound setup such as a home theater receiver with HDMI switching. Don't use the built-in speaker and complaint about it, that's a projector no-no.
Great projector, great price, great quality, you won't regret it.

Bought this from necessity, as I had to provide a slideshow for my daughter's rehearsal dinner. I was blown away with the sharpness, color fidelity, brightness, and overall quality of the projector. The Epson 1060 is an awesome product, especially for the money. I was not expecting such quality and fidelity, so I determined to build a home theatre, as I've always liked the idea, but was never too sold on the image quality. As a professional photographer, I'm very picky when it comes to image quality. To make a long story short, I returned this model and purchased up to an Epson Home Cinema 3700 model which supports 3-D. The image quality seems about the same as on the 1060 to me, but the 3-D was important to me, so I'm pleased with the investment.
