Customers regard the Home Cinema 2045 LCD Projector favorably for its picture quality, ease of use, and brightness. Many appreciate its 3D capabilities and find it offers good value for its price. However, some users note that the fan can be noisy and that black levels could be improved. Other minor drawbacks mentioned include the lack of lens shift and the projector's heat output.

    Best Projector for the Price

After a lot of research, I decided upon this projector. I am happy with the purchase. This model has so many bells and whistles others in the price range lack. A few consumer websites rated it the best for its price range, and I'm inclined to agree. For e.g., the wireless connectivity, the phone app remote (I'm always misplacing remotes), 3D, LCD instead of DLP,, etc all are hard to find in a model within the $1000 price range. I used to own an Optoma HD72. I loved that projector, but the model had many technical issues. While time will tell with my Epson, I talked to a good number of folks who specialize in projectors who claimed it to be a more reliable brand. I also was skeptical whether or not the picture quality, the promise of enhanced color and deeper blacks, would prove anything more than clever marketing. Compared to the other brands that I observed in a showroom, the colors do appear richer, the blacks blacker, etc. I am using the projector in a bedroom with curtains with a decent throw, say about 11 feet, and have found that the 2300 lumens suffices for a good picture even on a sunny day with the curtains drawn even though they are not blackout curtains. That being said, they are mostly opaque so don't expect a sheer material to suffice. In terms of negatives, I don't personally feel that the built in speaker will suffice for most; it has a 'tinny' sound and probably will only stand you in good stead for outdoor viewing. The remote is also fairly cheap looking and this model does not come with 3D glasses. Still, for the money, I'm more than satisfied. It's a big step-up for me and I'm glad that I didn't lock myself into a more expensive Epson model in the $2000 price range that won much praise from review sites but lacks the same wireless connectivity without paying $300 more just for that feature. In terms of value, I've looked a lot, gone out to stores for demonstrations, and am so happy I found this projector. The more expensive model, while it did have a better contrast ratio and even more spectacular picture, didn't make enough of a difference to my eye to justify the difference in price.

The best home theater projector for the price

I was on the market for a home theater projector and spent about 6 months researching which one to get. DLP, 3LCD, LED, Sony, LG, Optimus, BenQ, Epson, etc. It was all a bit daunting but I wanted to take it seriously as I was making a $600+ investment. In the end, I went with this projector. I wanted 3LCD as it's a proven technology and doesn't have the rainbow issue that single-chip DLP projectors do. I also wanted a projector that wouldn't require extensive calibration. There are plenty of websites that offer calibration numbers for projectors but I wanted one that I could get up and running with little to no input from me. I also wanted a projector that would be low cost both in terms of operation and replacement bulbs. Lastly, I wanted a quiet projector that could handle 3D as I have a pretty large Blu-ray 3D library. I wanted all of that without having to spend more than $1000. The Epson 2045 really was the best choice. Not only was it extremely easy to setup but I didn't have to calibrate anything. After reading professional reviews, I discovered that the Epson 2045 works fine using their built-in presets (particularly Cinema Eco mode). I didn't have to calibrate anything, adjust the colors, or anything else. The only thing I did was turn off the motion smoothing for movies and games (I leave it on low if I'm watching a sports game over broadcast TV). Images are life-like and colors are spot on. I have this projecting onto a 1:1.2 screen making a 100" image. I can make out details in dark scenes, action scene come to life, and the 3D is actually impressive. Watching Jurassic World in 3D on the Epson was a blast. I suggest using the standard Cinema Eco mode when watching movies. I never hear the fan kick on (I have it mounted to my ceiling) and it extends the life of the bulb. The projector does offer motion smoothing (like 120Hz and 240Hz LED/LCD HDTVs) but it's best to leave that off when watching movies and TV shows but it is useful, on low, when watching football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and soccer games. The level of detail when watching a Blu-ray movie is rather astounding. I can make out individual fibers in clothing, see wrinkles and blemishes that would otherwise go noticed, and I really feel like I am in a movie theater but I don't have to deal with other people. I also have a Samsung 3D Plasma HDTV and the Epson projector works with the same 3D Samsung glasses as my HDTV so I didn't have to buy new equipment. If you are on a budget, do yourself a favor and really consider this. I went with it over the Optima projectors offered by Best Buy as the Epson is quieter and doesn't produce an image that is as washed out as those (i.e. Blacks with the Epson are almost true black whereas they are more like a dark gray with the Optima projectors in the same price range). BenQ makes some good projectors but their bulbs are often more expensive and some of their models have known exploding bulb issues. Another positive for the Epson, if you have a notebook, tablet, or smartphone featuring Intel WiDi/Miracast technology, you can wireless broadcast anything to this projector. I have tried this out with my Surface Pro 2 and it works great though I tend to just rely on my Apple TV and MacBook Pro for such situations. It doesn't matter what I'm watching, this Epson projector is great. Football games are awesome up on the big screen, movies feel like an actual theater, and TV shows feel more cinematic. The Epson 2045 isn't perfect though. I do wish that it had built-in AirPlay as well as WiDi and Miracast. It is also a little on the bulky and heavy side making it more difficult to transport. Lastly, it doesn't have any vertical image correction. It can straighten and image vertically by 20 degrees but not horizontally. This means that you pretty much have to mount this projector at the same height as the image that you want. It isn't that big of a deal as ceiling mounts make things easier but it can be a pain for people who can't do that. You would have to put it on a shelf if you can't mount it via a ceiling in order for the horizontal keystone (angle) to be correct. Other projectors often allow you to correct both the horizontal and vertical keystones but this one does not. All-in-all, you aren't going to find a better projector for the price. Read up on the professional reviews of it and you'll see that it's top in its class. You can find better projectors but not at this price. It's hard to beat all of the features that are included in the Epson 2045.

I had Best Buy deliver and install this projector in my home theater. On time delivery, quick ceiling installation and courteous service. Once installed, I immediately noticed the sharp picture quality. The image was impressive out of the box with plenty of brightness for my light controlled room. We tested using a HD signal from my xbox, and I could see a big difference in picture quality over my old 12000:1 contrast Sony projector. The only problem for me was the throw distance. My ceiling mount and cables are about 14' from a permanent 100" screen. The zoom on the projector couldn't fit the entire image on the screen without physically adjusting the distance of the projector. I elected to return and go with another model with lens shift and longer throw distance. Projector central has a calculator for all projectors that will show the optimal distance. Wish I had double checked before the purchase. I would recommend this product for clear, sharp picture at a reasonable price.

Got this on sale for 550.00 and worth the price. I have lot's of 3D movies and this projector does a nice job at it with the motion turned on high speed.also for playing games in vivid mode is best I find with very low lag so good on that too. I have a 5year old projector and the picture quality overall is about the same honestly but the 3d is a plus and wide screen picture is nice. when watching movies its good to have it in bright cinama mode with the auto Irs on high speed for slighty better black levels casue thats the biggest down fall of this projector not great black levels sorry to say that but contrast, color and brightness are all good enough. Has 2 hdmi, usb,RCA and audio out so a pretty good setup all in all. My Advice is if you can get on sale go for it if not spend a little more on the 3700 when its on sale for $1,300 it has better black levels but less video imputs.

Excellent Product. Very clear and BRIGHT picture output. I use this projector as my Main TV/HomeTheater. Although the fan seems to run in High-speed and just a little loud and hot in NORMAL mode, the ECO mode has adequate Brightness and color sharpness that you can run in this mode most of the time. Very Satisfied with the purchase. Would highly recommend this Projector...

I recently bought this projector for my media room. My room is a dedicated room and completely dark so my comments are based on my particular environment. I'm not a home theatre expert so this is only my opinion as I person that only wants to enjoy movies /PPV events etc. with friends and family but not particularly obsessed with advance technical specifications In my opinion Brightness output, picture quality and Color reproduction with out of the box settings really exceeded my expectations, even in ECO mode. EPSON offers an excellent an under-thousand dollar projector with features until recently only available to higher price range projectors. Wi-Fi, screen mirroring work great; small simple remote control, easy to operate on-screen menus, quiet operation and sleek modern design makes this projector a great product.

The projector is really good for the price. It also has wifi service which is good. I am yet to explore how the WIFI connection but otherwise I have no major complaint about the projector. Sometimes the projector is becoming hot when it was switched on but then gradually it cools down. The picture quality is so good I initially thought of buying Epson 3500 with high Lumens which is costing around $1400 at this time, but don't want to spend this much money for my first projector and moreover my friends suggested my home theater room is completely closed (no windows) so it's completely dark and no high lumens is going to do anything good in terms of clarity. I went with this projector to test it out and I was pretty happy with the results and my friends who came to check it out, was also pleased with the output. I defintely recommend some one to go with this model if they're looking for a home theater projector even with 2000 lumens I heard this works very well with window lights shut off

We picked this projector up on a Deal of the Day on a whim. It had 3D and the price was very reasonable. Our expectations were not super high given the price, but they should have been - The projector is a super product! Easy to set up and get running, and the picture quality is great (HD, not 4K though). Bright enough for daytime viewing, but much, much better in the dark. We set up a 100" screen and watched some 3D movies (glasses purchased separately). The 3D was better than our other 3D TV, and with the 100" screen, was much closer to a movie theater experience than a regular TV. Highly recommended for anyone setting up a home theater on a budget.

    Amazing TV Replacement

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this projector as a replacement for my 40" LCD screen, the image quality is amazing, the experience is mind blowing, all my friends that have seen it immediately considered purchasing one for themselves for either gaming, live TV, or movies. I completed my setup with inexpensive ceiling mount, and I couldn't be happier. Yes, installing it on the ceiling may sound overwhelming, but seeing a clean install, filling the 100" space my white wall can provide (not using a screen) was well worth it and was a great DIY project that kept me entertained. Epson's 3LCD quality is amazing, way better than other DLP projectors I've seen, and it works even with ambient light, however you do need to have a way to block exterior day light, for day use. I did my research for months, and when the 2045 was announced I couldn't wait to get it, amazing specs and features (bright colors, frame interpolation, detail enhancement, connectivity), you can't go wrong with the 2045. I never realized the amount of detail within a 1080p signal (projected in 100"), way better than a 50" 4K TV hands down.

This projector is awesome. The resolution on a regular wall is great. I have used it for movies, Catechism lectures, and my son has used it for his gaming. Really user friendly. When I was shopping for a projector this one had the best reviews. I bought it and I definitely agree with them. I was able to purchase it for a really good price. I highly recommend this projector. The only negative I have for it is that it did not come with a case. I bought one from Harbor Freight and it works just fine.

This was an easy setup. I used an Insignia 2.1 channel bluetooth sound bar purchased from Best Buy for the sound since the projector has small speakers (it does have a 3.5 mm line out as well). It can be placed at an angle and the projected image is rectangular and not skewed if you can't place the projector directly in front of screen. Very clear picture. The picture is very bright so it also lights up a small bedroom so it may give you more of a theater effect at a larger distance..

Superb picture. The color reproduction is great, the unit is small, well built and loaded with tech, and it is quite easy to use The controls are intuitive and the remote is simple. Set up and calibration are super easy The color reproduction is great, no "rainbow" effect, blacks are deep and hues rich and true-to-life Very happy with the purchase, only gripe would be fan noise of the unit, but I feel it is expected given the hardware constraints.

Hands down one of the best purchases Ive made and at such a good deal! The projector could be a bit of a noise nuisance for some but can't really notice especially with the sound system on. Clean vibrant colors with no rainbow effect like other dlp projectors and the 3d is amazing on such a big image. Have a 60" 3D samsung tv that this puts to shame, especially when the glasses worth for the projector as well!

I got this for showing movies outside. The picture is great.. it's easy to use. Ended up using it alot in doors just projected on a white sheet and had a nice 9 foot screen for multiplayer xboxone games like COD. Had 4 players so the screen was cut up into 4s and everyone had their own 40 inch TV basically it was great. Looking forward to trying out the 3D features this summer.

The picture quality is incredible -- very crisp images. We were able to view it outside before it was completely dark. However, the speaker is horrible. You can hear inside, in a small room fine, but the sound quality is horrible outside so you will need an alternate source. We used our sound bar. The product was easy to work with

I love this projector. It starts up fast with little issue. I dont even need a screen in my basement for it to look crisp in HD. The only drawback I can think of to this point is it runs very loud and hot at times. If you make the picture less "vivid" it will run cooler on Eco mode - however the picture isnt as great when watching something like sports or an action movie where you want the colors to pop. Great projector overall though.

Awesome for 3D movies and the big game! Got mine set at 150", and its bright and beautiful. 3D is able to use the light and inexpensive Samsung 3D glasses from a Samsung tv that I bought last year! Integrates perfectly into my existing home theater setup with Yamaha 7.2 receiver, Apple TV etc. strongly recommended!

This Epson replaced my 12 yr old Infocus X1 projector and after reading the specs for the 2045 I decided to give it a try. The first 2045 I purchased failed after 2 uses the screen turn yellow and I could not recover it from this state. I returned it to Best Buy in exchange for another 2045 and the picture quality and features are just awesome and I have not had any trouble with this one. The one thing I noticed is that it is hard to adjust the keystone to perfect but its squared enough for my needs of 300inch display area on the wall. The picture quality is nothing short of outstanding, I don't use the speakers but the wifi feature is great, hooks up easily with minimal effort. I hope this 2045 last as long as my X1, its a purchase that I'm sure anyone would be happy with considering the sharp picture quality and features. As far as fan noise it is also minimal but I run in eco mode, but if you run in full power it can be a little loud. The 2045 is perfect for daytime viewing as it displays a great picture in the daytime as well, but its true brilliance is at night when its cinema time. Either way you will not be disappointed....

Its been a couple of months and we are very satisfied with the projector so far. The picture quality is great even in ECO mode and the replacement lamp would only cost $85 which is unbelievable so i am going to order one now and keep it in spare. I havent mounted on the ceiling yet just placed it on a high rack in the back of the room. WIth this setup I see the projected area is not a perfect rectangle but the projected picture is a perfect rectangle. SO what this means is there are some lighted areas on either side on top which are not that noticeable but still present. I tried the Keysstone correction etc but not use. Hopefully they will go away once I mount on ceiling which will reduce the projected distance by 5 to 6 feet. My current projection distance is 20 feet. Also the fan sound is noticeable when there are silent scenes in the movie. I am hoping this will also go away with ceiling mount, because I currently sit right infront of the projector.
