    Good but limited

Good but limited. Let me preface this before we get started. I'm a home theater geek and have high expectations. So lets get started Setup - this projector setup was SO easy. basically take out of box, point it at the screen, plug it in, sync the remote(instructions on the screen on initial startup), setup Google access(uses phone app to sync account). And that's it. The projector has a quick auto keystone. I had to do a security update after. This was a 713MB download and required restart of the unit. Easy peasy. So lets talk about the picture. This is a lamp based projector and has good brightness. Manual states 2700ANSI lumens. It holds up pretty good to that statement. At about 14' away from screen I was able to zoom out to about 120" give or take onto my 133" screen(see pics) Using the built in Android TV - i used Netflix and Amazon Prime to test of streaming. This is a 1080P projo and works well for these applications. Picture was bright, and crisp. Although, it loses edges during fast motion causing a blurring effect. Most would only notice during a fast action scene. Blacks were decent. There is not option for picture adjustment from a color aspect that I could find. Nor a scene setting. This unit only has keystone to adjust the alignment of the picture on the screen. So it was a little frustrating for me to ahve to angle the projo down then use the horizontal/vertical keystone to try and align. There is not test pattern for alignment either. So it is a eyeball at best. This unit is also limited by only 1 HDMI input and no cable routing. You have to take off the back mesh that then exposes the inputs and single Mono-speaker. if you use the HDMI you can NOT put the mesh cover back on. As for the speaker, its loud enough for personal viewing if you are nearby the projector. Whats with the 2 remotes? This was my first thought during the unboxing. Why? Well I found that there appears to be a USB device that provides the AndroidTV service - thus limiting the use to 1 HDMI input! So I guess its 1 remote for the projo, and then another for the AndroidTV device. Weird. Thought I might use this unit for portable viewing - outdoor, sports. But having to remove panels to hook up pc/dvd makes its a bit cumbersome. Setup - easy and direct, no options Usage - AndroidTV works well and you a ton of apps for content Portability - good projector to move around with. not large and weighs about 6lbs Great if you want to setup for the big game and have a nice bright picture. Quick easy setup. No fuss or need to configure anything - basically plug and watch! I would look at other options if you want a more permanent setup or want a laser setup. For my needs of a portable projector, I think there are better options from Epson. For simple at big picture experience, this does the job with limitations. Will probably set this one up for the kids video games

    Excellent projector/picture, some sound issues

I got this projector to replace an older one I have mounted to the ceiling in my theater room figuring new technology must deliver a better picture these days. And that turned out to be absolutely true, the picture from this projector is outstanding. Very bright, vivid, and crystal clear. The attached photo was taken during the day in a brightly lit room with overhead lights on, and one can see the excellent picture quality. But for my theater room setup with a ceiling mount it was far from ‘plug and play’. I was not able to just remove the old projector, connect the new projector to the ceiling mount, plug in the cables and fire it up. Oh no. Turns out the distance of the ceiling mount was too far back from the projector screen so the projector's throw was bleeding the picture quite a ways outside of the screen. I minimized the picture as much as possible using the slider on the projector but it was still throwing out a much larger projected image than my screen is (120 inches). So rather than relocating my existing projector mount which involves redrilling holes, moving cables, patching existing holes, etc., I decided to just buy a new ceiling mount (white, to match the projector color). If you’ve never done it before, mounting a projector on the ceiling is a whole thing. Lots of measuring making sure everything is right, finding the studs to drill into for a secure mount, not to mention running/hiding the cables, then dialing in the projected image on to your screen to make sure its all good. So after several hours getting it all dialed in, it is absolutely awesome. In the attached picture you can see that there is still some picture bleeding outside of my screen and frame, so I ended up having to add an additional boarder around the frame with black velvet to soak up the overflow. It was either that or re-mount the ceiling mount on the next joist 16 inches closer, pick your poison. Anyway, back to the projector. The fan is fairly quiet, comparable to my previous projectors, and the projector speakers are pretty good although I have no reason to use them since I'm connected to a surround sound system. Which brings me to my only complaint: when the projector is set to Android TV functions for the life of me I cannot get sound output from my Marantz stereo receiver and speakers. If I’m connected via HDMI and Xfinity TV, my stereo sound is great from the receiver/speakers. From researching it seems I can only use the projector's audio-out port to connect to my stereo which would require a 50 ft cable and tearing up drywall to run the cable, or to connect via Bluetooth to a Bluetooth speaker system which I do not want to do in my theater room since my receiver and speakers rock. For this reason I’m knocking off one star. So at the end of the day, Android functions are not useable in my setup, but for everything else it is exceptional.

My experience with Epson brand products (printers, dedicated scanners, & other projectors) is that they are reliable and of great value. One of their printer models I owned (Artisan) lasted me over six years. This Epson Home Cinema works perfectly for any home theater. It is incredible how quick and easy it is to hook up and set up; it is lightweight and easy to mount and move around. My family and I enjoy movies/shows from streaming services and DVDs. The projector box includes two different remote controls with their batteries, a power cable, and an installation manual. Note that it does not have any HDMI cables. Projecting to a dedicated screen, I was amazed at how it produces a clear, detailed image with beautiful colors and great contrast. My home theater setup gets completely dark, and when I turn on some ambient light lamps, the projector still does a pretty good job. If the room setup is very lite, images could get somewhat washed out. The unit has plenty of ventilation to keep it cool, and the cooling fan does not make a loud noise. The speaker in the projector is weak, so not designed for home theater and must use a separate sound system. The full HD 1080P 3LC on the projector makes this quite an impressive unit. I have used it for a couple of weeks now, and so far, no issues whatsoever. The adjustment slider for zooming works smoothly and make adjustment very easy to fit the projected image on a screen. The best feature about this projector is that it has an Android TV included; there are plenty of Apps to use for entertainment. This unit is an excellent option for anyone who wants a projector with great image quality, fantastic dynamic range, incredible color saturation, and bright and vibrant light projects.

The Epson Home Cinema 2200is a 1080p 3LCD Projector with Android TV. It is an excellent 1080p triple LCD projector for home or office use. The projector comes with a power cable, 2 remote controls (batteries included), the quick setup guide, and other literature. The projector has a single HDMI input, a 3.1mm audio output, and a mini-USB port for servicing. The key features of this projector are: • 1080p Full HD resolution • 2700 Lumens of color and white brightness • 3LCD technology • All digital HDMI Technology • Built-in Speaker and easy setup. Additional features include: • Built-in Picture skew sensor – to correct for keystone issues. • Up to a 35,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio • Convenient color mode adjustments • The ability to mount the projector in an inverted position. • Split mode and zoom features (more on these later) Usage impressions: This is a very good starter 1080P projector with built-in AndroidTV streaming capabilities. When married up to one of many devices that can output to HDMI you can have up to a 320” diagonal in a 16:9 format (screen size varies with the distance the projector is from the screen/wall). For my setup, while testing the throw distance was about 11.25 feet for a screen size diagonal of 93.25 inches with the digital zoom capabilities enabled to reduce the screen size to fit the available space on the wall. The projector’s built-in audio is a decent sounding 10 W mono-speaker and while it does a better job than most built-in projector speakers, the built-in Bluetooth or even the 3.5 MM audio output can be used to provide improved audio to an external speaker. The built-in Android TV device is a wonderful addition to this device. While this device is contained within the body of the projector it is accessible and removable! This is where the second remote that comes with this projector comes into play. When the android TV streaming device is removed, one uses the second remote to control it. The Android TV device runs all of the common streaming platforms available today. Overall, this projector is wonderful and has some hidden gem features and capabilities despite the premium price for the added features of the Android TV and the Bluetooth audio. I have found projectors to be excellent, and cost-effective substitutes for TVs, where I can get 2x the screen size for a much lower price point (1/3 – ½ or even more). Granted I am not getting 4K in this configuration, but so far, I have not been persuaded that those benefits are worth the added expense. Pros: Screen size, Android TV, Bluetooth Cons: Price is a bit high

I have used several projectors over the years and projector tech just keeps getting better, improving features and getting more affordable. After using the Epson Home Cinema 2200, I am very pleased with its performance. Pros: - The built in Android TV is excellent. Simply log into your google account, install any apps you plan to use, and you are off and running. Set up was very simple and quick. I was up and running within 5 minutes. You will want to plan to install firmware updates though, shortly after set-up, but this process is also quick and easy. - Picture quality is top-notch. While this projector is 1080p and not 4k, it's pretty difficult to tell the difference with the naked eye. You could spend more on a 4k projector but I don't feel it is necessary. - Onboard audio is terrific. This projector has the best built-in speakers I have ever heard. This is very important if you plan to ever take your projector on the go or for an outdoor event. - Syncing the remote via Bluetooth was easy and I appreciate not having to point it at the projector for it to work. Cons: - While you can connect Bluetooth speakers to this projector, this feature is designed for content you view via HDMI. If you are looking to stream content via the apps, onboard audio or the audio-out port are your options. I'd love to see Bluetooth speakers be able to work with streaming apps in the future. Fortunately, the onboard speaker is very good. Overall, this projector is a great option for anyone looking to set up a home theater or even if you are looking for a full time video option to replace your television. It has a good price point and I'm very happy with it.

I am definitely impressed with this projector. Setup is so easy! Some projectors can be a huge pain due to focus, keystone correction, and image adjustment. All of those things are simple with this model. Once it is focused, it needs to be connected to WiFi. I learned to let it do the Android TV software update first so it is on the latest version of its operating system. Once the update installs in a few minutes, it is ready to go. If the user has an Android phone, they can sign into the projector via their phone. If not, the user still signs in with their Google account and then they can install any streaming apps required. From start to finish, I was streaming in less than ten minutes. My favorite feature is the brightness. I played around with the lighting in the room to see how far I could push it before ruining the image. I was able to have lights a few feet away from the screen and still see clearly. It took a lot of ambient light to drown out the image. That is probably one of the biggest differences between a cheap projector and nice quality like this model. Not only is the image itself bright, but colors are vivid and the resolution is excellent. The refresh rate is adequate enough to keep me from getting nauseous when the camera angle is rapidly changing. Whether projecting on to a screen or a solid wall, the image is impressive. (Of course, a screen will provide the best results.) The speaker on the projector would probably be adequate for a presentation with just speaking and no music or effects. Anything more than that and I would highly recommend some type of external speaker. With Bluetooth built in, this projector easily connects to my headphones or my Bluetooth sound bar and outputs an excellent signal. There is also an analog audio output if needed and an HDMI input for external video sources. The only complaint I have had with this model is that it is too large to fit in universal carrying cases. There are cases that fit, but they are a little challenging to find. If this is being used in one place and not moved on a regular basis, this issue does not matter. At the end of the day, I am really happy and I would definitely recommend this projector to my friends.

This projector has a great picture quality and the setup is easy. The amount of focus and picture size setup is advanced if you have a specific size screen to fit as you need to make sure to install at the correct distance from the screen. Streaming works well and was simple to setup. Wish the HDMI cable could be connected while keeping the gray speaker cover on.

Love this projector! Having built in Android TV allows for direct installation of apps, and because its not a huge unit, its still fairly portable if needed! I used it in the afternoon in our crazy bright room (direct sunlight in room, not on wall tested) and it was still very visible on a white wall!

I have my Epson 2200 projector set up in a dedicated home theater room in my basement. The room has sheetrock walls and a fiberglass tile drop ceiling. The projector is mounted on the ceiling using a custom bracket attached through the drop ceiling to the joists above and uses a ball mount to position the projector. It's connected via WiFi for the Android TV features and a 30 foot HDMI cable to my home theater AV receiver. For HDMI I use it with 1090p (Blu-ray) or 480p (DVD) sources. I have a 100-inch diagonal wall mounted screen, which cost $150 from the big online merchant. The picture quality on the 100" screen when displaying 1090p content is stellar. Having a fixed screen makes a huge difference with any projector. Even a cheap screen is better than a bedsheet or painted wall. I find the image is bright enough on the standard "Cinema" setting. There is a brighter setting called "Bright Cinema" but for my dark room it is too bright and it also makes the fan run much faster and I find it intrusive. The Android TV features work well, but I discovered that my 2013 receiver doesn't handle HDMI ARC properly so I was unable to play sound through my theater system when using the Android TV apps. Had to go back to using a Roku 2 box for Netflix, etc. Things I was disappointed with: well, the HDMI ARC thing but that's not Epson's fault. The projector comes with a nice grille to cover the ports and stuff on the back of the projector. But... there is no opening to pass through an HDMI cable. So I had to cut one in. It looks a little rough since it is plastic covered with fabric, but since it's near the ceiling it looks OK. Most frustrating thing was setting up the proper distance to the screen. I specifically chose this projector because it has optical zoom to adjust picture size vs distance to screen. Other projectors have a digital zoom and that is just not suitable for the job in my opinion. unfortunately, for my 100" screen size, the difference between being too close and too far away is only about 18 inches. So i initially installed it attached to one joist in the ceiling but could not make the image small enough to fit on the screen. Then I moved it one joist closer, and I could not get the picture big enough to fill the screen. So I had to install blocking between the joists to get the distance correct. I also had an electrician install an electric outlet in the ceiling near the projector and snake an HDMI cable from my receiver to the projector. Note that installing an outlet above a drop ceiling violates building codes, so he installed it so it would go through the ceiling tiles and be flush with them. It turned out great and looks super. Now that it is set up I am very happy with the projector. It looks great on the 100" screen and with a great surround-sound system it's better than going to a theater. I took off one star because of the issue with the rear grille, the limited zoom range (although still far better than digital zoom), and the loud fan when the brightest image settings are selected.

Included- Epson Home Cinema 2200, Quick Setup Guide, remotes with batteries, power cable Starting up the Epson Projector is really easy. If you are projecting from another video source or computer, connect that first. Then plug the projector in and the power light will turn blue. Open the lens cover all the way and press the power button on either the projector or the remote control. The light will flash and stay on. To use the Android TV or on-demand features, press and hold the "home" and "enter" buttons on the projector remote control to pair it to the projector. Adjusting the image is super simple. To sharpen the image, use the focus ring. If you want to reduce or enlarge the image, use the zoom ring. The projector can be placed on almost any flat surface or it can be suspended from the ceiling with an optional ceiling mount. Adjust the height of the image by pressing the foot release button and lift the front of the projector. When you release the button, it will lock the foot into its current position. If the image is tilted on a flat surface, adjust the rear feet on both sides until it's level. the height of the image by pressing the foot release button and lift the front of the projector. The Epson projector has a built in Android TV streaming device that will be launched after the remote control is paired to the projector. You can also connect video equipment, a computer, gaming console or Blu Ray device to the projector. Just connect the HDMI cable to the projector's HDMI port and the other end to the device you're using. The projector has a built-in speaker that can play audio source like a DVD player or streaming device. You can also connect the projector to external speakers via the Audio Out Port. The projector is also Bluetooth enabled. Because the Epson Home Cinema is powered by Google and has the Android TV built in, you cam stream any of your favorite channels like Netflix or Hulu or watch any movie. The color quality is amazing with 2700 lumens of color brightness and white brightness. The HD picture is clear and crisp with 1080p and contrast ratio of 35,000:1. The viewable screen is up to 320" to allow plenty of viewing screen for everyone. The picture is so good. I don't have an actual screen, just a blank wall and I don't have any complaints. The projector will be great to have some fun viewing parties outside in the backyard with family and friends or inside in our basement with a makeshift theater room. The Epson Home Cinema 2200 projector provides so much entertainment.
