The Epson Home Cinema 660 Projector is a great business/office projector. Super bright, works well in room with lights. Obviously not a brightly lit room, but you can have lights on for students/staff to take notes and the projector is visible. The Epson 660 takes HDMI in, so it works well with a laptop. I tried it with my Nintendo Switch, but at SVGA resolution the display is good not great. For movies the Epson 660 is perfectly OK and the sound from the inbuilt speakers is good. I'm super happy as this projector can serve dual use for work and we'll have a great summer with movie nights on the back deck.

    Epson Home Cinema 660 Projector

So I've been testing out the Epson Home Cinema 660 Projector over the last few days and I must say that its a pretty awesome projector. Aside from the usual instructional user manuals, the projector also came with a remote, and power cord. I recently tested out another Epson projector which came with a carrying case also. This projector does not, and I'm guessing that's because its not really meant to transport (although you can if you want). The back of the projector has a USB-A port, a USB-B port, audio/video ports, a computer port, and an HDMI port. To test out the projector I connected my streaming device to the HDMI port and once powered up, it quickly connected to the HDMI port. The colors are brighter and richer than I expected which was very impressive. Video output comes in at 1080p. If you want anything 4K (or if you're used to 4K TVs) then this projector may not be for you. Even though my bedroom was very bright, the colors/picture was still very clear and did not look washed out at all. Viewing in the dark (or at night) only made the colors/picture pop even more. Another area that impressed me was the sound quality. The sound which can be controlled via the included remote (as well as all of the other settings), goes up to 10 different levels, which I found 10 was a bit loud, but very impressive nonetheless. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a decent home projector.

This is an entry level projector for sure. But I must say that the picture is quite satisfactory. It is light and very portable. For cinema the picture is very pleasing though not up to my 4K OLED TV. I will say that using this for power point presentations it works great and being light I would actually recommend this fully if you need to travel and give presentations. For home theater I will definitely use this for times that I want a really big picture. The projector is very bright and provides good contrast for an enjoyable experience.

    Perfect for Movie Night

I was one of those people who believed that I needed the absolute best picture and nothing short of 4k would do! Until getting this projector and was simply blown away by how simple it is to setup and how easy it is to adjust the picture and we were watching a movie in a matter of minutes with a better picture than I ever could have imagined. Not only was it crisp but much brighter than I could have imagined but just a fantastic picture with no motion blur making this a definite great buy for movie's indoors and out which is why I grabbed this one in the first place but with the weather we've only been able to test it out indoors and couldn't be happier with this budget friendly Epson model #660. The speaker isn't that great but is plenty loud enough for inside use, just not sure how well it will work outside but that will depend on how many people will be watching and the surrounding background noises, like if you live near busy roads or highways. So I'll be adding a surround sound system with a 5.1 receiver to not only improve the sound but also give me much needed additional inputs to allow me to hookup any extra device's from blue ray player's all the way back to old gaming systems (mainly the Wii for the kids). I also love the fact that they give you a choice of either putting it on a stand or permanently mounting it to the ceiling and can change the orientation with just a push of a button on the remote and you also use the remote for all the adjustments for setting up the system. Which Epson did a great job on and is a very well thought out. I highly recommend for everyone but the pickiest of people with extra money or those who are looking for a projector for use with a computer or business presentations which might show off this projectors limitations from it's lower resolutions when hooked up to a high end pc. But if your just looking for an affordable projector for watching tv and movies, then you can't go wrong with this Epson!

The Epson - Home Cinema 660 SVGA 3LCD Projector - White provides a great way to experience TV and Movies like a pro or at the Theaters. Expand your viewing many times and have a backyard movie of your own, just bring the sound system. The picture quality is sharp and crisp, while the light quality is strong for a darker or lights out room. Easy setup makes using the Epson 660 quick and simple when you are ready for movie night or a spontaneous gathering. PROS - Epson quality - Everything you need is included - Connects to nearly any device with multiple connection options - Manual focus and size adjustment makes for quick changes when needed - Cost makes this unit affordable on any budget CONS - Brightness could be a problem for a well-lit room - No Auto Focus or Keystone features

I should begin by saying that this projector does exactly what it’s designed to. Connect an HDMI device for easy projection or with a PC for a presentation. It’s lightweight, making it easy to transport and setup anywhere. We used it to project a movie from a Blu-ray player in the backyard! The video isn’t a super HD image, but being able to project a 80” image made for a great movie night with the kids. If you’re looking for a good entry level projector for gaming, a diy movie theater, or setup in a man cave for sports viewing, this will deliver. If you’re willing to spend a bit more on a 720p or 1080p projector, and want great HD quality images, spend the bit more for one of Epsons other HD native resolution options.

I love the brightness and works great outdoors at night and even indoors but the lack of HD resolution is a downside especially if your old projector was HD. But the brightness more than makes up for that and the ease of setup and use is all outstanding. This is a low cost projector with wonderful brightness but the trade off is lack of HD resolution but you gain the ability to projector on project onto a large screen with low entry cost for a projector.

Decent projector with a few limitations

The Epson - Home Cinema 660 SVGA 3LCD Projector is a decent video projector but its relatively low resolution makes it a less than ideal option for those who are looking for anything close to true HD quality. In addition, the built-in speaker is a bit of a letdown so unless you have a way to output your audio to some sort of sound system, you may be disappointed. Based on these things, this projector isn’t a great option if you are hoping to recreate the movie theatre experience but if you aren’t all that concerned with these things and you are more interested in simply being able to project your videos to a much larger screen, this certainly gets the job done and is from a very reputable company. Setup is easy and the keystone correction feature is amazing and really does a great job of correcting the horizontal and vertical aspects of the image when the projector must be setup at an angle. Overall, this is a great low-end projector which I would have no problem recommending to others as long as they are aware of its limitations when it comes to resolution and sound quality.

I like this projector a lot. This was very easy to setup right out of the box and it had all of the inputs I needed. My only complaint is it would have been nice to include a HDMI cable. I was able to get picture quality from a 1080p source.

Setup: This projector is a very simple plug-and-play. There are no drivers to install if you are using HDMI or VGA input. USB video display software must be installed to use the USB-B input. The Home Cinema 660 (HC660) can be used on a table or mounted to the ceiling. Ceiling mounting hardware is sold separately. Input: HDMI is by far the most convenient and universally compatible with modern computers and other audio/video (A/V) sources. No HDMI cable is provided with the HC660. VGA offers video only, but is backwardly compatible with older computers (and other video sources) with VGA output ports. The HC660 does not comes with a VGA cable. RCA jacks (female) are available for audio (right and left) and video. A cable for RCA input is not provided with the HC660. Note that the video signal uses only one jack and will not work for composite video devices with separate jacks for red, green, and blue signals. While I have not done so myself, it should be possible to use the VGA input for video and the RCA input for audio (only). USB-B input is available on the HC660, but you will need a USB cable and installation of the Epson’s USB Display driver software. USB-A input is a nice idea, but there are inconvenient restrictions to its use. Devices must be USB Mass Storage Class-compliant, formatted in FAT or FAT32, self-powered (i.e. require no bus power), and can have only one partition. Only a limited number of file formats are supported (.jpg, .bmp, .gif, .png, and .avi) and there are notable limitations on the file size, resolution, and format for each file type. You can check out page 99 of the User’s Guide (https://files.support.epson.com/docid/cpd5/cpd53633.pdf) for details. Remote: All of the projector’s features and menu system can be accessed through the remote control. This is a great convenience if you have your HC660 mounted on the ceiling. The remote does not have an integrated laser pointer, but there is an on-screen digital pointer that can be operated with arrow keys on the remote. This feature is only enabled when using HDMI and USB-B input. The split key on the remote allows side-by-side images from two video input sources. The remote also has a digital zoom and the arrow keys let you pan in four directions. There are two IR receiver, on the front and one in the back, to allow the remote to function from almost any angle. Output: Video output on the HC660 has a native resolution of 800 x 600 pixels (SVGA) and can be configured with a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio. The maximum recommended projection distance is about 16 feet. The bulb takes about 30sec to come to full brightness. While the 800 x 600 resolution will be a substantial step back for most users accustomed to “monitor-quality” viewing experience, it is sufficient for a small home cinema projection setup. Horizontal and vertical keystone adjustments are easy and intuitive. There are 5 preset color profiles, but brightness, contrast, saturation, tint, sharpness, and color temperature are each individually customizable. There is even a noise reduction option for smoothing out the “grain” in images. Audio output is the weakest part of the HC660 and limited to a single 2-inch speaker in the rear of the projector. It will provide reasonable volume for a small conference room, but not much more. If you need high-quality audio output, I would highly recommend getting a separate dedicated system for this purpose. Design: The HC660 is light, compact, and well designed for a simple home cinema projection system. The fan is a relatively quite. The cooling air inlet has a removable filter to keep dust out of the lamp housing. Epson recommends cleaning the filter with a light (i.e. computer) vacuum or small brush. Replacement filters are available for purchase. The lamp is behind the small speaker and seems relatively easy to replace. The HC660 will alert you (presumably on screen) when the filter or lamp need attention.

I have been thinking about getting a new, big, TV for my living room until I saw this projector and decided to give it a try. Set up projector and Toshiba Chromebook 1 on my kitchen table. U can use a smartphone or tablet if U want to. Everything is approx. 18 ft. from vaulted ceiling wall in the living room. Paint is a flat white. Everything I needed was in the Quick Setup guide. Thumbs up for this. Watched a Google Play TV show starting late in the afternoon when there was still daylight. Sky was slightly overcast. As the sun went down image quality improved. Sound quality from the projector is acceptable but it can be hooked up to a sound system if desired. Unfortunately I don’t have a 4K TV to draw comparisons with. Only have a 720p 32” TV. I will say the product compares favorably with a standard def movie at a theater. So this setup is much improved over what I currently have. I live in a one bedroom condo so don’t have an outdoor yard for movies at night. Unless U have a place to set up everything, this product might not be for U. Wish a short piece of HDMI to HDMI cable was included but I have two cables. This projector will see much more use if I move to a house or maybe a townhouse some day. Will recommend it to anyone who wants a really big screen experience.

I was skeptical about this projector because it is relatively cheap. I always thought you had to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars to get a good one you could watch tv with. I am utterly impressed with this machine. Very easy set up out of the box. I did have a trouble setting up Nintendo 64 to it but I think my composite cables are the issue. My cable box hooked right up via HDMI. The picture is decent. It’s not HD but is still very clear. It’s pretty quiet. When set up in my living room I can barely hear the fan. The speaker is mediocre but all you need is a good sound bar and it’s easily fixed. Bang for your buck, this projector is perfect. If you want a better HD picture then go with the upgraded models. But I’m happy with this one!

Out of the box there is not much to setup. Simply remove all the tape and plastic. Plug it in and whatever it is that you want to use for viewing enjoyment. I plugged in my Xbox one and played some games. The was now blur or lag throughout the any of the games. I watched the newest Thor movie and the colors were vivid. There is a built in speaker. It's not much of one. Ij recommend a sound bar at least. It's not very loud. Still though having a very large screen to play game and watch movies is rather enjoyable. There is no Wi-Fi built which is rather disappointing. In today's world that's a must. You can purchase a Wi-Fi dongle but it's expensive. Probably better to use a game counsel, roku, Chromecast, or apple tv to name a few.

I must say I was very impressed by the Epson projector. I mean it's not 4K but it does have very good picture quality. I plugged in my firestick and I was watching a lot of Amazon videos and they all show pretty good. It's a very nice entry level project without breaking the bank. Definitely worth checking out
