Customers are saying

Customers commend the Home Cinema 880 projector for its excellent picture quality, brightness, and ease of setup. Many found the projector easy to use and affordable, while some noted that the fan can be noisy and that it only has one HDMI input. A few users also mentioned challenges with the zoom and focus features. Overall, the positive feedback on image quality and ease of use outweighs the negative comments regarding the limitations of the HDMI ports and some minor setup adjustments.

I returned this item in two days. Let’s start with the good. It’s huge and it’s nice for kids but if you’re like me into video games. It’s not good at all. Great for kids again and just not crispy or fast enough for a gamer.

out of the box this was very straight forward to set up. it was very easy to set up to a computer to project presentations. I then ended up connecting a chromecast to it, which made it great to cast movies and shows for viewing. There is an optional wifi dongle to give the projector wifi access and screen mirroring, but i found this easier as i had extra cast devices onhand Picture is crisp and vibrant, i was not getting wash out. Easily covered the back side of my house to watch movies by the fire pit. The height adjustment stand could be larger/more sturdier. instead of adjustable feet, there is a little plastic post about as thick as a pen that the projector balances on. would prefer something more solid. i may make my own angled stand or go with a third part accessory. did not get overly hot after long use which was nice

The Epson Home Cinema 880 3LCD 1080p Projector is a very good entry-level 1080p triple LCD projector for home or office use. The projector comes with a power cable, remote control (batteries included) and the quick setup guide, and other literature. The projector has a single HDMI input, and audio output, and 2 USB 2.0 inputs (1 USB-A and one USB-B). The key features of this projector are: • 1080p Full HD resolution • 3300 Lumens of color and white brightness • 3LCD technology • All digital HDMI Technology • Built-in Speaker and easy setup. Additional features include: • Built-in Picture skew sensor – to correct for keystone issues. • Up to a 16, 000:1 dynamic contrast ratio • Convenient color mode adjustments • The ability to mount the projector in an inverted position. • Split mode and zoom features (more on these later) Usage impressions: This is a very good starter 1080P projector. The device is currently retailing for $499.99, which is an excellent price for this projector. When married up to one of many devices that can output to HDMI you can have up to a 386” diagonal (varies with the distance the projector is from the screen/wall). For my setup, while testing the throw distance was about 11.25 feet for a screen size diagonal of 127.60 inches. The projector has some digital zoom capabilities in the event the screen is too small or too large at the throw distance – in my case I used this capability to reduce the screen size to fit the available space on the wall. The projector’s built-in audio is a small, tinny-sounding 2W mono-speaker and while it does a good job, the 3.5 MM audio output can be used to provide improved audio. During my review, I found that this projector comes with USB video driver software that can allow a system to connect to the projector via the USB-B port. This can be combined with the HDMI port to have a split-screen view – I used this with my Surface Book and Roku device during testing and was able to display each screen. The screens can be of equal size or one screen can be made larger than the other one. While this may have limited use cases, it does offer some versatility to how one can project information or use this projector. One use case would be to have a sporting event live on one screen and a second screen showing the stats of the game on the other screen via a computer. Overall, this projector is a very good machine and has some hidden gem features and capabilities. While the single HDMI input could be considered a con by some, there is another model in this family of services that has dual HDMI inputs. I have found projectors, including this one, to be excellent, and cost-effective substitutes for TVs, where I can get 2x the screen size for a much lower price point (1/3 – ½ or even more). Granted I am not getting 4K in this configuration, but so far, I have not been persuaded that those benefits are worth the added expense. Pros: Price, some surprise features such as split-screen and USB input. Cons: None Noted.

Great 1080 resolution for my office needs and helping the grand children with their virtual school lessons. Short distance in office projection and longer outside on deck projection to white vinyl fence all crystal clear. This is a great basic projector for home, office and in school needs. Laptop to projector hook up and user friendly menu. But should include USB cables needed for Laptop connection being a high tech household I have all cables needed. BIG OPTION I AM GOING TO PURCHASE WIRELESS MODULE SO I CAN PROJECT DIRECTLY FROM MY SAMSUNG S20+ with Epson projector app. Module cost around $100 but well worth the versatility. Also the projector is very sturdy, solid built construction well worth the price and also comes with an excellent user friendly remote controller. I highly recommend this it's a low cost price for it's excellence and quality.

An Excellent Projector Without the High Price Tag!

I love going to the movie theater, but that is no longer a viable option lately with the pandemic. When I heard Epson was releasing its latest entry level 1080p projector, I jumped at the opportunity to bring the cinema experience to the comfort and safety of my living room. The Epson Home Cinema (HC) 880 is simply awesome! It has just enough of the big features you’d want in a projector without the hefty price tag, and that makes this a value winning projector. I love the fact that it is rated at 3,300 lumens of color and white brightness. What that means for me is that I can watch my favorite movies without turning out the lights. I tried the projector during the day with the blinds and curtains open, letting in plenty of ambient natural light, and the projector image was still bright and sharp without any washout. And during the night I had my living room lights on, the Epson 880 continued to display a bright and clear image. The projector’s lamp brightness is a little dimmer in ECO mode when compared to Normal mode, but both modes still work well in ambient lighting. I use a large white wall in my living as the projector screen. The projector’s image colors are true to life, sharp, bright, and have plenty of contrast. I was only able to project up to 8’ before I ran out of wall space, but Epson claims that the projector can display up to 386”. Another feature I like is that the Epson HC 880 comes with an audio jack. I know in the past Epson did not include an audio jack for its older model entry level projectors, but I’m glad Epson finally included this feature. I can now connect my external speakers for a better home cinema audio experience. However, the built in 2 watt mono speaker works well, too. It gets plenty loud to overcome the projector’s fan noise. Speaking of fan noise, the Epson HC 880 isn’t too loud. In ECO mode, the fan barely makes a noise. Once you turn it to Normal mode, the fan does become more audible, but nothing to the point that it becomes a distraction. One of the best things about this projector is that it is so easy to set up and use. You could mount it on the ceiling, but I simply set it on a table, plugged it in, leveled it by adjusting the height of the rear feet and front foot, adjusted the image for squareness, plugged my laptop into the hdmi connection, focused the image, and I was ready to enjoy a good movie with some popcorn in less than five minutes. The projector allows you to easily adjust for image squareness with the automatic vertical keystone correction, manual horizontal keystone correction, and Quick Corner setting. And there are plenty of image settings just like you would find on a television such as adjustments to color saturation, brightness, contrast, sharpness, tint, and so on. The remote control is easy to use and the onscreen menus are intuitive. Although it is marketed as a home cinema projector, the HC 800 can also perform well as a business projector. After all, it can reach 3,300 lumens of brightness which is plenty to overcome the ambient lighting of a conference room. And it weighs only 6 lbs which is considered lightweight for a full size projector, making it easy to tote around. I couldn’t find anything bad to nit pick with the projector. Some folks might be turned off by the limited number of connections. It only has 1 hdmi, 1 usb-type a, 1 usb-type b, and an audio jack as its interfaces. I don’t mind though, because I only use the hdmi connection. I can connect my google chromecast to the hdmi and power it with the usb-type a connection on the projector. This turns the HC 880 into a streaming machine. Things that I wished were featured on the HC 880 would be a backlit remote control for the times when I’m using the projector in the dark, and also if Epson could include a soft carrying case for the projector. Other than that, for the value price and extraordinary image quality and features, the Epson HC 880 is a perfect entry level projector meeting the needs for a fun family movie night. I totally recommend this projector!

At first glance this projector looked very complicated out of the box. I set it up in my bedroom on a plain white wall. The directions that come with the Epson Home Cinema 880 1080p projector are easy to read and neatly packaged. I had to attach my HDMI as the projector does not come with one. The quick set up directions are easy to read, and the pictures help tremendously. We decided to watch a movie, I connected my ROKU using my HDMI and was able to stream the movie with no problem. I have external speakers and they can be plugged up an RCA cable. The sound can also be heard from the projector if you don’t want to hook up external speakers. The projector comes with a remote control you can do all the picture adjustments, make the image clear and zoom. The image can be sharpened by using the focus ring on the projector. The image is clear and sharp, I was pretty blown away with the picture quality. I would have to say that this Epson Home Cinema 880 1080p projector is a must have. If you like a sharp picture and an easy setup, this is it. You can set this projector to work from your computer and mobile device. We will be doing a movie night this weekend, can’t wait. “This is a review for the Epson Home Cinema 880 1080p projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

Great projector for movies and digital decorating

I was so excited to upgrade my 8 year old VGA input Epson to the Epson Home Cinema 880. This review is not based on typical home theater use, but instead on the ability, quality and functionality to use this projector for both movies and digital decorations. The premise of digital decoration is to project a video or image onto objects, for example, talking faces onto pumpkins for Halloween, or Santa's workshop onto a picture window for Christmas. There are tons of options with the right projector. In the box is the projector, power cord, remote and setup guide. Setup is easy, plug into power and to an HDMI or USB source and you're ready to go. First thing to note is how portable this projector is. It does great in a movie theater environment, but with it being light weight and having a wide viewing angle it is also travels well. My first setup was on the porch with a ~12' throw, then I took it to our local Halloween event for the city to project on pumpkins from ~18' away, in daylight, balanced on a log a few inches off the ground. No matter the location, angle or ambient light, this projector did amazing. Second this is a huge lumen upgrade to my previous Epson, this means that I can turn on my projector displays two hours before sunset and still have a bright view of the decorations. The resolution is as expected for a 1080p, both movies and projections on objects were crisp, well defined, and had amazing color. The only downside I found was the internal speaker, it was a bit underwhelming, however easy to bypass so still consider this a strong 5 star contender for great multi-purpose budget 1080p projector. Overall highly recommend for home theater or any other portable use.

This projector is not heavy by any means. I was actually surprised on how light weight it was. It's so easy to use. The two back feet can be adjusted to whatever height you need. The front has a button you can push that will drop down a leg. You can also adjust the height on that one to. I really enjoyed the slide button that protects the lens. This will help keep dirt and dust off of it. There is another slide button on top to adjust your picture. I love how we were able to hook our firestick up to it. Streaming off of that. The picture on this projector is down right hands down the best I have seen. This projector does have a built in speaker.  But to really enjoy a movie outside we hooked up up external speaker to make the sound be loud. Now this projector does get warm pretty fast so I would suggest letting it cool down if your packing it up or moving it. We really enjoyed movie night on the Lani. “This is a review for the Epson Home Cinema 880 1080p projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

This Epson Cinema 880 is very well built, easy to setup and has a great sharp image for a 1080p resolution and is bright. Once you get it out of the box you will notice how light this thing is meaning that yes it could be portable. I love the remote controller. It is very easy to use. There's not that many connectors in the back it only has 1 HDMI, 2 USB and 1 audio out. I connected my PS4 and started playing FIFA and I did not experience any lag during my game play, neither online. I didn’t feel any disadvantages for lag video. This is only a 1080p not a 4K but for the price this thing handles images very well and with a little noise not bad. One thing that I did notice within 30 mins of use my room felt a little hot and my AC was at 70 degrees. I turned my wall into a little huge screen, I really felt like I was in the movie theater. Watching the Mandalorian on this size screen was fantastic. Note that my wall was not fully white and the image was still crisp. I can just imagine how good it will look with an actual projector screen which I am planning to get soon. I would recommend this projector for the value, brightness, sharp image, compact, well built, and easy setup. In the box you get the projector, remote with batteries, power cable and manual.

Who would've thought a projector could be so amusing and entertaining? I found the picture quality to be impressive. The crisp and vivid images (albeit 1080p) surpassed my expectations even when operating from afar. The speaker is small, but the sound is clear and acceptable. It can get loud enough to drown out the slight fan noise being heard which is a positive. The software interface is slow and just like any projector, it can get hot. However, Epson included an alert system to inform users of increasing temperatures to which I found convenient. There's no built in Wi-Fi, but it's nothing that a streaming device or HDMI cable can't fix. This not a replacement for your native T.V., but rather a STRONG compliment to your existing media products. I've watched movies, played video games, and mirrored devices on it. Epson managed to create a pretty reliable product. Pros: - Picture quality - Minimal fan noise - Clear sound - Versatile Cons: - Menu interface is slow - Can get warm - No Wi-fi

This projector is super bright with 3300 ANSI Lumens, has great colors, excellent viewing angles, if you can get it on sale it’s 100% worth it. This is not a paid review I just love this device so much! It’s so bright you can clearly see it in the daytime with all the lights on. Would recommend this for anyone with a home theater setup.

Very simple to set up and good amount of features for the price. Great color accuracy and bright on both white and color lumens. Fan could be a bit quieter. I just find a small but annoying issue. For some reason the projector goes out of focus every time l turn it off. So not sure if is this just particular unit or it is a model issue. I will send it back and hopefully the next unit won’t have the same issue. 1080p resolution very true and accurate. Having a single hdmi input these days might also be a no no for some people. Over all is a good projector.

All the lights on, and can still see picture perfectly. Fan is a bit noisy, but not to noticable during movies ect. Speaker is terrible. Hook projector to external sound system if possible. My old trustworthy Epson died, so I went with a brand I am comfortable with. And I was right! This projector is very bright so I can project onto a light colored wall, not just a projector screen. It was also very easy to set up: started my laptop, plugged in the projector and turned it on, and voila! the picture appeared in full color. I admit the picture wasn't quite as sharp as I'd hoped, but figure I was using a painted wall, not a special screen. It even has speakers built in, but I did use my accessory speaker system. It has a remote control, but I have not needed that yet. This was a really great buy, and I recommend this unit for presentations or movies away from home. Another bonus: it's half the weight of my old projector, and I got it at a great sale price.

I was very impressed by the picture quality and the price I got it for. I love the how bright it is even with a little bit of natural light coming in from your windows. Yes it only has 1 HDMI connection but there is a way around that! I purchased an HDMI switch with 4 inputs and that solved my problem! Now I have my Chromecast, Firestick, and PlayStation 4 connected to my projector at once. I also highly recommend connecting a good sounding Bluetooth speaker that has AUX input to use because the speaker that this projector comes with isn’t that great. But I figured projectors can’t possibly have the greatest built in sound. Overall I’m very happy streaming movies and Boxing fights. I can’t wait to have people over so they can see the great quality that this Epson Projector has to offer!

Wow absolutely loving this Projector. Got the Epson Cinema 880 to try and first off love the compact size. I replaced it with my old projector and it’s about half the size of my old one. The resolution is amazing and I immediately noticed a difference. The 3,300 lumens really help give off a crisp 1080 image. Comes with everything you need to get started projector, power cable , remote and batteries. I also noticed it turns on much quicker then my old projector and the blacks and colors are very vivid. Also for the price point it’s a great bargain for what you get. So far I’m really enjoy it and made my movie watching experience much better. I have mine hooked to a home theater setup but it goes have a built in speaker if you want to take portable and the size makes it easy to transport. “This is a review for the Epson Home Cinema 880 1080p projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”
