Great projector overall. We upgraded to the LS800 for a little increase in lumen and ease of screen adjustment features, but really liked the overall quality.

The Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS650 is an amazing projector that has taken my home entertainment experience to higher levels. For my test and review I projected on a flat white wall in my living room with a mostly blacked out lighting environment and will be basing my experience of that. So I'll start by saying this projector is advertised to produce a picture of up to 120" and that's absolutely true, but it can easily get sizes of 60"- 80" - 100". This is an ultra short throw projector and its intended to be up close to the display surface so even if your living space is small you'll be able to get a huge display. I'm absolutely loving that 120" picture size though and it's a massive upgrade from my already large LG C3 77". Under the hood it touts true 3-chip 3LCD technology delivering 3,600 lumens of color brightness and white brightness for super clear, bright, and colorful images even in well lit rooms or rooms with little light control. In a darkened room it truly pops. The picture quality is 4K UHD and it is a great looking picture for movies or shows and games, something that isn't really mentioned is that it has a 60hz refresh rate. This can be assumed since it doesn't claim to have 120hz or even HDMI 2.1 ports but its not really mentioned in the details and if you were wondering now you know. The LS650 also has an impressive built-in, front facing 2.1 speaker by Yamaha, which puts out some good sound levels and decent surround sound for the size its. I liked it but I ended up connecting my Sony HT-A5000 5.1.2 surround sound system to it for a more 360° audio experience and was happy to see it connect without issue. The projector works just like a smart TV by having Android TV/Google interface so you'll be able to downlaod all your favorite popular streaming apps from the play store and if you've got your accounts linked on Google its a quick and easy process to sign in and get to watching your favorite movies and shows. Epson also has a free app you can download to help set up the projector, adjust the display size, and tune image settings in seconds. This can be done with the included remote as well but I think its nice to have an app in case the remote is ever lost or damaged. The projector has a few interface ports: 2 x HDMI 2.0 with one being eARC compatible, 1 x Audio Out S/PDIF Optical, 3 x USB Type A (2x for data) 1x for 5 V/2 A power supply). It was very hard to find fault in this awesome projector, but I have some small gripes that I experienced in my use. I'm a bit dissapointed that this projector doesn't have HDMI 2.1 ports, this means no 4K 120hz picture output. However this won't matter if you aren't doing any high end gaming. Speaking of gaming, I connected my PS5 when testing out the LS650 and was blown away at how amazing my games looked, however initially I had a very bad juttering and input delay issue and I had to mess around with the display settings on the projector for quite sometime to fix this issue. It is a fixable issue but it not recognizing the input and auto adjusting is a bit annoying. If you wont ever use this for videogames then this won't matter to you. Lastly the colors and white are bright and vibrant but the black levels are a bit underwhelming. This might be because of the white wall it was being projected onto so I'll be buying a grey screen to see if it changes. Also, my opinion is based on my experience with my OLED tv which is going to have superior and super deep black because of the different type of display technology so its technically not an apples to apples comparison. Just being fair and honest. The Epson EpiqVision Ultra LS650 is awesome and I love it. It is now the main living room entertainment and had me moving my LG C3 to my bedroom. Despite my gripes the bigger display and bright and colorful picture has me in love with the projector and partnered with my soundbar surround system it makes me feel like I'm in my own personal theater. I would absolutely recommend it.

I had to return this product due to high fan noise. The noise is very distracting while watching movies especially when silent scenes during movies.

If I only had one word to describe this projector it would be “WHOA!” (yes, in all Caps). This thing is phenomenal. A long time ago, I was using a 4:3 ratio projector that maxed out at (maybe) 480p. Back then, it was cool to have a big screen, even if the resolution and picture were below average. Over time, I opted to go back to screen TV’s and I’ve been pretty happy. Except, I really miss that big screen. Enter the Epson LS650. I needed a little less than a foot from my wall to project a crazy-good 100” image. And I could’ve gone bigger, too, with a little more space. But, sadly, my wall space was limited, so 100” is fine. I love the fact that this projector has 4k, HDR, and especially Android TV. I’m a frequent Android TV user, so the user interface on the LS650 feels like home. Also included inside the Android OS are several projector-specific apps for testing, adjusting and focusing the picture. The OS feels snappy enough, as long as it’s not updating or installing a bunch of apps or a system update (note: I had a large Android TV update shortly after signing in the first time). As far as the picture goes, well, I’ve been very, very happy. The screen is large (duh), bright and the colors really pop. The LS650 uses an older-school 3LCD color apparatus with a new-school laser light source. It works amazingly! I’ve not seen any halo-effect, which can be common with laser projectors. I really wonder what the top-range LS800 can improve upon in terms of picture quality. Even in a moderately lit room, I can see the images just fine. Part of that credit goes to a good-quality light-rejecting screen, but 3600 lumens help too. Honestly, if you’re having doubts about the picture, go to any Best Buy and see for yourself. Another feature I’m impressed with is the sound. The projector speakers are pretty darn solid for a 2.1 system built into a projector. It won’t replace my custom 5.1.2 Atmos system, but it’d be great at a garage party or a summer time outside movie. But you knew there were some negatives, right? Okay, these are pretty minor, but 1) It’s not the shortest throw projector of all the UST projectors—and this impacts its flexibility a bit (be sure to measure furniture before purchase). Then, 2) the remote has some ergonomic issues (I won’t go into them because this is purely a personal issue). 3) Overall sound from the projector is fine, but fans really go into overdrive during startup. 4) Runs warm, needing more of those loud-ish fans (nothing a decent sound system can’t overcome though). On the whole, I can whole heartedly recommend this for just about anyone. It’s great in any light, easy to setup and work with, and provides a beautiful, massive image. If you’re in the market, do yourself a favor and consider it.

Wanted to like it, not sure if I got a bad one, but it freezes consistently. Remote becomes unresponsive and I have to unplug it to get it working again. Great view in a light controlled room, difficult to get placed on a screen. No Netflix either. Anticipate returning for one that perfroms better.
