Customers are delighted by the LS800's impressive picture quality and brightness, praising its ease of use and short throw distance. However, some users expressed concerns about the limited HDMI inputs and the focus mechanism. While the size of the projector was noted by some, the overall positive feedback highlights its strong performance.

Good: The LS800 is extraordinarily bright and can battle even lights on, daytime viewing. Sunday morning football with this projector is a sight to beheold. The short throw distance means I could use a normal TV stand…. The Bad: its noticably not sharp. Its fine for sports and TV viewing but with 4K HDR content, its just ok. This is not a dedicated theatre projector… the Ugly: unless youre going to use a 120”+ screen, youd be better off just getting a large TV for the money. Even a 98” TCL competes with it.

I have has the ls500 for about 2 years now and it has always been nice for bright voewing but the blacks were always washed out and the colors dull. The ls800 in contrast has very good blqck levels and vibrant colors. The ls500 had a full cms but even with optimized setting it never looked as good as the ls800 right out of the box. I was considering the Formovie which i am sure is a good projector but i have rqsdy about some issies it has with focusing and other quality issues. I dont have that worry woth the epaon. If you are looking for an UST do not be afraid and buy the epson.

I wasnt familiar with Ultra short throw projectors before this purchase but as soon as i start doing research to learn more about them i quickly realized there were a handful of brands that really stood out and epson was one of them. I initially purchased the epson LS300 but decided to return it and get the LS800 only because i wanted 4k. I have been extremely satisfied and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a big screen experience in a compact package. I use mine without a screen and still looks great projected on the wall

There is nothing much more to say than the title - this projector is worth every cent - The picture clarity is incredible and from an insanely short distance that doesn't impose into your room - Sound is very good for a built in system and optically - not sure what more you would need - fully recommend - and best off all - It was a steal for the spec

Excellent projector, very good picture quality, easy to use. The best thing is mobility, it is easy to move the projector in between rooms.
I project it on a wall and it works very well, in my experience there is no need of any special screen.

So far so good, easy to set up. It is very bright, and we easily adjusted focus and skew. We project directly onto a light tan painted wall, and it looks amazing. Only drawback is Vudu won't stream 4K movies we previously purchased on Vudu to the projector.

Love the Epson LS800. Is very sharp even without the ALR screen. ALR screen makes it even better. Sounds is decent. Highly recommend a sound system or sound bar. I wished it had 3D, Atmos and eARC. I hooked my up to Apple TV 4k. Android TV is a little lacking (not as user friendly).

Good Image, Fussy Setup

The Epson - LS800 is an excellent projector. The picture brightness is probably it's strongest feature. Although I watch it in a mostly darkened room, I could watch it in daylight without too much wash out on the picture.
Some things that i didn't know ahead of time that would have been helpful. Setup for ultrashort projectors is fussy and a pain. Very small physical adjustments make a big difference in image quality (think of moving the projector a fractions of an inch at a time). The projector sits low off the floor and very close to the wall. Finding something that will support 30 pounds, but only sits 12 inches off the ground has been challenging. I can't use my existing equipment rack because it's too tall. This puts the top of the projected image too close to the top of the 8 foot wall for comfortable viewing. Other than that, I like the projector. They have an app that helped setting up the projected image.

I've tried two of these ultra-short throw projectors. The first was this Epson LS800B.
That one was significantly brighter than this LG HU915QB; 20-25% subjectively. Viewing the Epson in a day-lit room was great. However it would not focus on the top third of the projection screen. Also the UI, remote and app performance (non-loading, crashes, etc.) were all return worthy. Just a miserable experience. For either set of issues, it's return worthy. Both ... I couldn't return it fast enough.
Then enter the LG. The remote is 100 times better with backlighting and a host more quick access functions the Google/Epson UST failed to provide. The LG UST projector apps worked and came pre-installed. All were working on the first launch and did not require hours of setting up. The 3700 ANSI lumens is noticeably dimmer than the Epson/Google, but it is still viewable and enjoyable in a well-lit room with a light-rejecting screen. The focus need some fine tuning - easy to do on the LG model. Also, the keystone correction is 10 times more flexible than the other model and very intuitive. Perhaps too flexible? If so, you have the option to simplify how you adjust corners. and edges.
Then finally, the picture quality is great, but I would give the Epson/Google model a slight edge in its 4K upscaling, projection .... whatever it does. Watching HD TV (HDMI input) on the LG lacks some sharpness that the Epson demonstrated. Streaming UHD content is great to view on either, with a specialized UST screen.

Worth every penny! I upgraded from a VAVA 4K UST and the difference is striking. The Epson LS800 4K Ultra Short Throw Laser Projector is just amazing. The 4000 lumens is a huge difference from the VAVA's 1800.
Pros:
1) Price: I waited until it went on sale as a combo with the 120" screen (highly recommended as well!) Saved me $2K.
2) Quite: I don't notice the sound of the fans running, especially when compared to my old VAVA.
3) Clarity/Picture: I feel like I did not sacrifice anything when moving to a 120" projector versus buying an 85" TV.
Cons:
1) Set up: when updating the software, click on details to authorize download of the update, otherwise you will wait forever as it just says "updating system." Seems like a simple fix, but could be frustrating if you don't pay attention.
2) Firmware: When you update the firmware, the device's fans run very loudly for a couple minutes, do not be alarmed. They should probably warn you about this so you don't freak out.
3) Alignment: Can be very frustrating so please have patience, but follow the directions! I researched this a ton before purchasing it. Look at the dimensions of the screen to make sure you have enough clearance on your wall. The top of the Epson projector needs to be 7.5 inches from the bottom of the screen. For those of you not good at math, you may want a home consultation to help you decide. The height of the table/entertainment system that the projector sits on is very important. If your projector sits too high then you won't be able to move it any amount forward or backward from the wall to make the alignment fit to where the projected image fits perfectly. Otherwise you may have a space at the bottom where there is no image. Don't test this, I'm correct and it's impossible to adjust without lowering the table.
4) Streaming: Why these bozos don't have the capability of downloading apps like Netflix/Disney+/AmazonPrime etc is mindblowing. I guess it's so that you have to make another purchase. I researched all the options and settled on an Apple TV for streaming. I recently had Roku but I don't think the quality was very good. Plus I'm an apple user so I like the idea of everything being connected and being able to use my phone as a remote control for streaming.
5) Ease of use: It's not "easy" but honestly, I don't know how it could really be made easier. Every set up in every application will be different so everyone HAS to make adjustments. If you are not very capable then I suggest you pay to have it installed or call capable people to help.
I realize there's more info on the CONS, but that's just to inform you of potential problems. I did a ton of research so I was prepared. I suggest you do the same, or read reviews like this to help you know what to expect. Realistically, I am in love with this projector and am so happy with the end results. I'll add pictures later if that's possible.
I'll go an review the projection screen next. In my opinion, you will not get the same experience with a cheaper screen. When it comes to things like this, you get what you pay for. I started with a cheap 100" Insignia for a few hundred bucks. It was cool, but I had no idea what I was missing.
Good luck all and make sure you have help installing everything because it goes way faster

I purchased this and the Epson 100 inch Silverflex ALR screen as a package. Great deal. I have this set up in the worst possible environment. Light from all angles, windows everywhere. Direct sunlight on the screen. It looks great. Sound is amazing too. My last UST projector was good but I cheaped out on the ALR screen and it only looked great in light controlled environments. The screen is important on these folks. Check reviews and get a good screen.

I was mixed on this but eventually decided to return it and went with an AWOL 3000 and am glad I did. I just couldn't get over the soft and blurry image that I could never get in focus. It did well with 4k content but anything less was blurry, especially text. Otherwise I liked the true to life colors, sound, brightness, design and ability to get really close to the wall. It would be an outstanding projector if they could work out the sharpness but in the end it's a deal breaker for me.
