Very good machine but the software for Mac is just as horrible and unreliable as it was when I bought a similar model 30 years ago. Wasted a lot of time each usage while it told me it couldn't write a file (when it didn't need to). Snap 2 x 2 inch slides as if they were 35 mm, thus cutting off about 40% of the picture.

Does good job of scanning slides, negatives and documents. Had problem in getting it to work properly with Mac due to lack of drivers per vendor. Otherwise, it does the job and presumably more Windows friendly.

I previously had an Epson Perfection V500 Photo that was nearing ten years old. The new scanner is much faster, requires no warm-up, and offers features (sending scanned photos direct to social media) that were not available on the older model. The V550 is a great upgrade.

I have not been able to get fully started using this yet, however I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the set up was. I did it all by myself with no issues. I am looking forward to getting started on organizing and saving my pictures.

We have a lot of photo slides that we needed to scan so we purchased the Epson V550 and it worked great. We can load and scan up to 4 slides at a time. Of course it works great for photo scans also. Overall a great, high resolution scanner.

I have been looking for a great scanner for my film scanning work for some time now. I have read several reviews for this product and finally decided to commit. I have always been a fan of epson products and this one doesn't disappoint. The only feature I wish I had with this model was th ability to scan large format prints. But I know they want you to buy the next model up to get that functionality.

I purchased this machine to scan family slides, photographs, and negatives. Set up of this scanner was easy and relative fast. The software is very intuitive and you can scan four slides at a time. The results are very good to excellent, highly recommended.

Bought it to organize years of old photos that my family has accumulated. Still experimenting with software. Trying GIMP right now because the software that comes with it is pretty basic. Much better than my current all in one solution.

The scanner scans different size photos and stores all the photos in uniform size. It will scan 4 photos at a time and stores each photos in a separate file. One thing is to keep the scanner face free of dust as the scanner scans dust very well.

great buy! the only fault so far is the cover really needs TLC when closing. Since it stays open on its own, when closing keep a firm hand on the cover or it will bang closed.. Just need to get use to it. My old HP had a slower closing cover. Just hold onto cover when closing.

Scanner is easy to use and produces high quality scans. It isn't as good at cleaning up dust and things on negatives as I had hoped, it produces pixels in the image when it does this. But it still gets high marks on ease of use and overall quality.

Needed a scanner with at least 600 DPI and ended up settling on this one. I've been very pleased with the results and the settings are easy to use even for a novice. I've been particularly impressed with the auto color correction for old photos!

I have used this scanner a lot. It works great. I like flatbed scanners and this is a gem. I have tons of pictures to scan and I've also used it for papers. No problems at all.

Very fast scanner. Purchased scanner to scan about 600 photographs. Loved that you can scan multiple photos at a time. The software included takes some time to get used to but I found it to be user friendly. Worth the cost.

My 12 year old Epson Perfection 2428 would no longer scan negatives. Researched and found the V550 fit my needs. It is bigger than the old scanner, but works great. Scans up to 4 slides or negatives instead of 2 with the older scanner.

This scanner is great for scanning your old photos, slides or negatives & preserving them to digital files. The included software was great for color restoration on some of my older faded photos. It's also easy to use. Thumbs up!
