This scanner has an excellent resolution and the photo scratch repair and photo color restoration features of the software is a tremendous help. Great for scanning old photos from family history, Scanner has multiple settings for differing resolutions. Scanning is fast at all resolution settings. Highly recommended.

My husband and I team up to scan old photos. Depending on size you can lay as many as 6 photos on the scanner and it takes them in as separate photos. Just have to leave a little space between them. You can touch up the brightness if you need to. Now that we have used it for a couple of weeks (lots of photos to scan), I am going to spend time checking other options or if my photo storage program can help 'fix' photos that are old and faded. Plan to make DVD for the kids as part of their Christmas gift.

I have an Epson Perfection 4990 PHOTO that is many years old and thought I'd upgrade to a scanner with LED lighting. This V550 doesn't have the full-glass transparency capability of the 4990, but it does handle 4 35mm slides with its slide holder template and that's all I needed today. I really like the scanner interface. I always run it in the professional mode for complete control of the resulting image file. The 'color correction' feature works very well and overall I am able to get great results from this scanner.

I sought a scanner that would scan photographs, color negatives and both 35 mm and middle format black and white negatives. This scanner does all that. It also has the ability to correct color and eliminate dust and scratches. I developed my first roll of film and made a print in 1950, so I do have many negatives and prints. Converting them to a digital format will ensure me of a reliable collection for pursuing my photography skills.

I bought this scanner to scan all my personal photos, negatives and slides as well as those of my relatives. I've scans several thousand photos, almost a thousand slides, and several negatives with excellent results. I love the scanner. I recently took this on a trip to visit family in another state and scanned photos in three locations while here. It's portable and easy to use. I would recommend it to anyone. If you do not have Photoshop, I would recommend the V600 to anyone who does not have a photo editing program.

This scanner is a worthy successor to my old Epson scanner. It easily accommodates a book or large item. I have had no problems with it, and find that it is much faster at scanning than my previous scanner. Yea!

I got this to replace my old photo scanner in anticipation of scanning hundreds of photo negatives to create digital images. Based on user and professional reviews, this machine had two features that appealed to me. First - LED light source, which is supposed to minimize initial warm up when started. Second - the professional reviews said the machine would do its work much faster than the previous generation of photo scanners. Well, maybe that hype gave me unrealistic expectations about how quickly it would work. It is faster than my old machine. But it's still a tedious task.

Used it to transfer old photos hard copies into digital files and it worked perfectly and no loss of detail, only thing is if you turn on all the features like sharpness...etc it can take a while to scan...only matters if you are trying to scan large batches fast

This scanner is easy to set up. It is quick, and provides good, consistent results. I use it with a Mac. So far, I have scanned about 700 photos. The software that comes with it is basic, so I purchased a separate non-Epson brand, which allows more control.

Product is excellent however the instructions and manuals are awful. Trouble shooting guide is nearly worthless. Software with product was out of date and scanner would not work. No auto up date or even instructions to do it manually. Had issues with product with updated software sometimes not working apparently because I had an all in on product connected to pc. Tech support was not clear on cause since I was able to get it to work without disconnecting the other scan product. User manuals almost no help.

I have used an Epson V500 scanner for many years. It is still working great. I needed another scanner for the office so I purchased the Epson V550. It does an excellent job and allows me to scan at very high resolution for Photoshop work and large reproduction prints. I also scan negatives and slides from time to time so this is way to get it done. Definitely recommend this scanner. I prefer to use Silverfast 8 software with this scanner.

I researched many scanners, and this one does an amazing job converting slides to JPEGS. I have thousands of slides of art and require a high quality image. This scanner is just what I was looking for at an unbeatable price.
