This scanner replaces an older one that was no longer supported. This scanner produces high quality output, it is easy to use, and is flexible. Its ability to handle multiple negatives/transparencies at one time is great.

This scanner was easy to use right out of the box. My first project was 1500 slides and it worked perfectly. This is a must buy if you are doing pictures and film conversations.

You need to take time to play with the settings, but I am getting excellent results from 45 year old slides. The ICE feature does a good job and is worth having. You can only scan 4 slides at a time and it takes 4 minutes per slide. That is with 48 bit, 9600 dpi, color restoration and ICE. Some of the origional slides are quite faded, so I am going for maximum scan detail to try to improve the pictures via image editing. It does take a while to scan, but you can do it as a background task. It takes little computer resources while scanning.

    Great 35mm film Scans

Bought this for 35mm film scans. The film strip holder isn't as bad as people make it out to be it holds fine. If you have uncut film that has been rolled for an extended period of time you will need to straighten it before using the holder. The holder isn't meant to clamp the film in place like most people seem to think it should do. The software is decent. Allows for decent editing before final scan. Very satisfied since i plan on processing my own film and will save me $12/roll and can get much better scans without having to pay a $10-$15 premium on top of the $12 processing fee.

Does a Very Good Job of Digitizing Old Slides

I bought this to digitize several hundred old slides that are 30-40 years old. This is the first time I'm doing this, so I have nothing to compare it to. But it suits my purposes just fine. There's a "color restoration" option that works really well. It just seems to take several minutes to digitize 4 slides. But I use that time to clean and prep the next 4 slides. It also does crop a small area along the sides of the slides. So far that hasn't been an issue for me. I did use the DIGITAL ICE technology, but that seemed slower yet, but yielded good results. Although some of my slides are in pretty bad shape, and even ICE couldn't get rid of all dirt. So I'm cleaning those with film cleaner before digitizing. I can't speak to other features of the scanner, as I'm just using it for slides. But I'm very happy with the results and would probably give it 4 1/2 stars. For the price, I'm very satisfied and would recommend it to anyone who wants to preserve old slides.

Bought the Epson - Perfection V550 Photo Scanner to scan old photo album pages. Still had to separate the photos from the pages so the scanner would store each separately - much better than scanning each photo singularly. This will be a long term project.

This scanner does a great job scanning. I have done nearly 600 slides and about the same in old photos. I even did a few negatives just to try that function out. Every once in a while I get an error, and I have to shut the scanner off and back on. I believe that this occurs if you have the folder that you are scanning to open during the scanning process. You can adjust how much quality you want in the scan. I pick the highest quality possible, and it is takes about three minutes to scan four slides. I scanned an 8 X 10 photo and it ended up scanning at 10.3 mb.

absolutely the easiest scanner you'll ever use. just install the set up disc, read the how to use section and your on your way. nothing to it. if you got through the 4th grade in school you should have no problem with this product.
