I only had this for a month now and working perfectly. The picture is stunningly beautiful, since I had this I never touch my vizio 60" anymore. Even my son was enjoying it. It's like we bought 130" tv, that's how good it is. The color, brightness, everything was perfect. I had before the benq w1070, it got a good review, I dont know why, it has a lot of video noice and the color saturation cant be adjusted. It has 3d but this system is not perfect yet, 3d is not enjoyable yet, all scenes seem dark. I returned it and I am glad I did coz I got this epson 8350 which for me a perfect projector though its technology is already 4 years old. I read some bad reviews about the bulb life span and its iris, well there is a workaround, turn off the iris then turn on the setting where in it's like you are in the mountain, so that the cooling fan will run in full speed then turn the bulb in eco mode. Me and my son use it alternately everyday at least 3-4hrs straight and runs great. By the way use at least 300watts UPS cos it is very sensitive with voltage fluctuation, another reason for electronics appliances to be broken. Overall I am very satisfied at least for now. I will update my review after 6months. See you then & happy movie watching.

Awesome projector for movies and games

    Posted .

We originally had a BenQ W710ST short throw and we didn't like it due to the rainbow effect when looking quickly across the screen. Also, it was kind of blurry when looking at bright colors, especially with video games. We replaced it with this Epson model at twice the price but it was definitely worth it! Setting it up is very easy, the horizontal and vertical lens adjustments help immensely. I'm not even sure why they put adjustable feet on this thing, but both options are fantastic. The only problem I ran into was whenever we take the lens cover off (we have cats so we replace the cover every time we turn off the unit) we have to adjust the screen position again. This is minor though since adjustments are easy. We have the projector pointing at a wall with a light beige paint, no screen, and still the picture quality is out of this world... I'm sure we'll opt to get a screen later, but for now we're just enjoying it as is. They also give you the option to set your wall color and the projector will correct the color saturation. I thought that was a nice added touch. The old BenQ had speakers, this one does not. That is not a problem since it interfaces with our soundbar that we also purchased from Best Buy. However, if you are not aware, this could be a costly addition. We were a little miffed that Auto Iris didn't work after we set up the projector, but so far we haven't missed it. A few times we were able to turn it on, but we couldn't see much of a difference, so we just turned it off. A Google search revealed that some gears may need cleaned and we haven't deemed this as a big enough defect to give up our projector to a replacement or an Epson repair facility. Overall, we can't stop playing games and movies because this projector has absolutely changed the way we watch TV. I know that eventually we will have to replace the bulb, but so far I'd take this projector over a big screen Plasma/LCD/LED TV any day.

Beautiful picture quality for the price!

    Posted .

I'll start this review by saying I bought this unit based on positive reviews and price point, and the fact I have no desire for 3D capability. The Epson 8350 seemed the best 2D choice. Picked up the unit at Best Buy, but when I did a quick test set-up, there was no red output whatsoever. I played with the all the color/RGB/RBGMY settings to no avail and decided I might have a bad unit. Returned and exchanged the unit at Best Buy with no problems whatsoever. Did a test set-up on the new unit, and was simply blown away by the picture quality. I'm coming from a really nice Samsung 67" DLP that produces a stunning picture, so I was concerned about the picture quality converting to a front projector. Well, no worries there! I haven't even made any picture calibration settings and all preset color/brightness settings look terrific. I'm watching a Blu-Ray of "Shooter" right now and I seriously don't know how it gets much better than this. Running the projector at roughly 16' from a 107" homemade screen from ordinary high-thread sheet material covered in a coat of Behr Silver Screen paint. the picture is simply stunning, with good contrast, black levels and color reproduction. The only minor negative is the unit is a bit larger than many of the others on the market. But if an extra inch or two of space isn't a concern, you don't find 3D necessary and want high quality video reproduction at a reasonable price (or frankly at any price), you can't go wrong with the Epson 8350.

Absolutely unbelievable projector for the $$

Bought this simply for a very large picture to watch HD movies and play games but this unit surpassed all my expectations! Currently just using a Sheetrock wall primed and painted with a high quality screen paint and right out ofthe box the color was perfect, the brightness even in a moderately lit room was great and the unit is very quiet. I have this unit about 14 feet from the wall and my screen is 166 inches diagonal. I have currently used the unit for 65 hours so I can't comment on the bulb life but I would recommend getting the 4 year service plan simply because it is cheaper than replacing the bulb one time. Like the feature telling you ho many hours are on the bulb. Would definitely recommend this product to anyone who has the room and a big wall!

The picture quality is exceptional. I project directly on to my living room wall which gives me a 120" viewing area. The kids really love movie night now! Very easy to set up and it has Component and 2 HDMI inputs which is fantastic. Definitely money well spent.

I bought this to replace a 5 yr old Infocus projector. This projector is amazing. I have primarily used it for XBOX gaming (Call of Duty mostly) and the graphics are amazing. I also fired the projector up to watch the NBA finals. The picture quality is great and the while it looks best in a dark room, I have had zero issues watching the projector with the lights on. It takes a minute or two to fire it up, but it is worth the wait. Definately recommend this projector and Epson's customer service was great. Got a faulty projector and they replaced it with a new one in 2 days.

Good color and contrast. 1080p. Purchased in 2013. Still going strong. Had to replace bulb in 2018. But since then, had s faint clear horizontal line that can be noticed on dark scenes. Still trying to figure out what that problem is. Overall solid projector for movie use.

    Great home theater projector

    Posted .

SO I started with a multimedia projector thinking it would be capable of handling presentations and becoming a weekend warrior in my mancave theater. I learned quickly that it just didn't do the theater justice. I went back to best buy and asked for recommendations. The epson 8350 was recommended - I left feeling unsure due to cost. This unit was another $600. But statistically it did what I wanted. I ended up buying it and had it up and running within 20 minutes of being home. The 8350 is amazing. The picture rates up there with the $3000 + units. It is so quiet you may check and see if it actually on. The adjustments are great--- the unit can be off to the side (uneven) but still project perfectly in front of you. It does not have keystone adjustments but the tilting lens definitely makes up for it. I use this machine just for videos, computing and video games and it does all of it perfectly. I own a samsung 8000 plasma smart tv and I actually prefer the projector. Not only because of size but quality matches the 60'' plasma. Also the size of the unit is large - not too large but can make hanging from a low ceiling difficult. It also is not light so if you have a drop ceiling the weight could be an issue. My quick solution was using an end table to the side of my seating and it worked perfect. Last note- I was recently traveling from CT back home to Ohio and was staying in a hotel. Well, it was sunday night and anyone who knows me knows I DO NOT MISS DEXTER on showtime. After I found out the hotel did not have showtime I almost left. Then realized I could use the projector with my laptop and stream it live. We found a website that streamed the show live. I hooked up my laptop to the epson and cleared 200 ish inches of wall space and watched dexter on a stunning display. So from now on the projector comes with me. Sure beats the hotel 32'' worthless tv. It you want a great projector at a great price buy this! Even outdoors in a bright (er) area this projector still shines through. People in my neighborhood have been amazed.

    Great Replacement for Panasonic PTAE200

    Posted .

My Panasonic bulb was going out and as is common for this model, the lens burned a dark circle in the middle of the image. (POOR DESIGN) The burn in wasn't terribly bad, but made whites look yellowish and blues look darker...and was eliptical in middle of picture. Anyway, the new projector while larger is much better picture, much quieter although somewhat larger and doesn't boot up incredibly fast. (maybe 7 seconds till first image and another 10 to full light?) The device is so quiet, I can't tell when it is on, so I almost wish they had a light in the front of it so I could tell if it is on or off since the light is on the top of it and I have it hooked up to the ceiling. I really like the value and the quality of this projector and shopped all over for something like this. I also have a bedroom with 5 six foot tall windows, so ambient light is an issue. It does equal to my Panasonic, and is acceptable in daytime use, although much better at night of course.

If unit size and no internal audio is not an issue for you, then i would highly recommend this projector. If you are looking for the best unit out there in this price range, trust me, this is it, stop looking. I don't want to repeat what the others had already said in the good reviews, just believe them and buy this model, you wont regret it. My projector came with a free 106" screen, i am so happy with my purchase, everyday is an exciting movie theater day for my family.

A great upgrade for home theater

Purchased this projector to replace one with lower resolution. The step up from the old 480p to higher 1080p resolution provided by this Epson was immediatly apparent. Details in movies that were not visible before are now clear. When plannig installation be aware that this projector has lens shift technology, but no keystone correction. To create a good picture the projector must be level and pointed squarly towards the screen. Then the lens shift is used to center the image on the screen.

Great projector, some image adjustments missing

    |
    Posted .

This projector would make a fine addition to any home theater. Perhaps, one of the handiest features is the ability to reposition the lens to get the alignment with your screen perfect without having to move the hardware. One of the biggest drawbacks, however, is the typical image adjustments found on many projectors (ie horizontal, vertical position, keystone) are not available on this model. So between the placement of the hardware and the lens shift features, you must be able to line the screen up properly as there is no other recourse for your shoddy measuring.

    Excellent Projector

Just bought this unit for our home theater and am amazed by the quality of the picture. This despite projecting it on a plain wall as we haven't had our pro screen delivered yet. We watched Avatar last night and it was truly just like being back in a first run theater...my family was speechless! The unit itself was whisper quiet. As other have noted, it is a large projector, but I personally like it better than the small ones that have to run a high pitch fan to keep them cool. This unit is very versatile...and can be configured to operate in almost any environment, however, a darker room is an ideal setting. It is highly configurable to make installation location very flexible. Colors are accurate and true-to-life. Pick this unit if you are looking for a superb, high-quality home theater picture at the best possible price.

    Fantasic for the price

    Posted .

I bought this projector to replace a Panasonic AE-900U that went bad in my small home theater. I was hoping for something comparable, but this was a huge upgrade in picture quality. Great sharpness, color and very deep blacks. Since I have a room where I can control the light I've turned down the light output of the projector to deepen the blacks even more and the colors still pop. However, it has plenty of light output for a family room too. My other concern was the possiblity of screen door effect because I have a small HT room, but there is none. One thing to be aware of is the size of the projector. It's about a 1/3 larger than the Panny, but still fits nicely on my rear shelf. Just plan ahead for it. Setup was relatively easy, the only problem is there is some interaction between the vertical and horizontal adjustment of the image offset and the zoom. It was a bit of a pain, however there is a button on the remote that brings up a calibration pattern which helps. All in all it was a great purchase and the family is very happy with it.

120 in of pure viewing bliss!

I love this projector. Maybe I just love watching tv and movies on a 120 in screen. Sure tv's are getting bigger. You can get 80 in or more, of course it will cost you several thousand dollars. This is a 120 in picture for less than $1,400. The picture is great and I am only using my wall as a screen. Only negatives are there are only two HDMI inputs. I was able to work with it though. Also the projector works best is a dark room. Do not try to use this is a bright room.

    Pretty Impressive

It sat in the box for 4 months while I finshed the theater room. Got it on sale back in February plus triple points in my birthday month. Saw a few negative reviews and got nervous. Picture is very impressive out of the box...took less than an hour to align it on the screen...looks as good as any LED, LCD, or plasma I've seen recently...if your family and friends around you aren't as in to this stuff as you are...they will not notice skin tones, black levels, gamma, etc.....everyone has been absolutely blown away!!!!

    great entry-level for home theater

    Posted .

We have been using projectors instead of a TV for 6 years but always those designed for office presentations that can be super-bright. I didn't know much but I wanted 1080p and the highest lumens possible. This was our first foray into home theater, and I was afraid it wouldn't be bright enough, but we are extremely happy with it. It is so much better than our last projectors that I can't really compare it, but I can use it in the significant ambient light of our loft, projected on a not particularly smooth light brown wall, and we have a fantastic huge HD picture for TV and gaming. I'm sure it would far better with a proper set up. I did a lot of Internet research before this choice and it seems like an excellent deal for the price, which is entry level. We took another review's advice and got the 4-year protection, as we have always had problems with bulbs burning out early. When people say it's huge, though, they mean it. I didn't actually check the dimensions. We had to mount a new shelf to hold it so it's not nearly as subtle as our last one.

Best projector for the money. The picture quality is amazing even in the day time. The room we use it in has a lot of sunlight and you would never think the image is from a projector. I have a few lcd tvs and this projector beats all. I am using a 120 inch wide screen projecting from about 20 feet away and the image is great. Very satisfied with this product , after so much research this is the best value.Thank you Epson.

    Excellent product for the price

I had an In Focus IN-76 since 2006, and it was time to replace the projector lamp. So, after looking around at different projectors, I saw this one, researched several others, and decided to buy this beast. Although the projector was heavier (16 lbs) than my previous one, the rear ceiling mount (from a Peerless universal mount) was completed in about 15 minutes. Out of the box, the image quality was astonishing. I'm amazed at how much has changed in 5 years. If you are looking at investing in a projector in the $1,000 dollar range, then this will foot the bill. Also, then next Epson model up is sweet, but I did not want to pay more than $1,300 bucks. If you need a professional projector and don't mind paying thousands of dollars more, then this product is not for you. However, I can honestly say that this 1080p projector has plenty of different (brightness) settings and the image quality is far superior than my old IN-76. I'm using this with a 118" Draper screen; quality is excellent for Blu-ray, X-Box, Directv.

Perfect projector for movies and home theater

Its a great projector to watch movies, absolutely silent operation, great picture quality and easy to use. Only thing I didn't like is - it gets hot (I dont know about other projectors). May be all of the projectors get hot because of the UV lamp. But I think to watch movies - its a perfect system.
