Good home theater projector for the price

    Posted .

In placing my old projector (non-hdmi) I ended up settling on this model after trying to other cheaper models. Option 1) Optoma (HD131xe) - great black levels, cheap, and nice color saturation but ended up returning it after finding out I was seeing a lot of RBE with the DLP color wheel. Option 2) Epson Home Cinema 2000 - lots of light, good color, but ended up returning after the lack of zoom wouldn't work in my home theater and it was actually too bright for a pitch black room. Finally settled with the HC8350, it carries a the best zooming and lens shifting capabilities at the price point, much better black levels than the Home Cinema 2000, overall great brightness levels for a dedicated home theater. The housing is a bit larger than I would like, even when forced in ECO mode there is still a noticeable noise from the fan, and the ceiling mounts are further apart than what some ceiling mount kits can handle. I also ended up looking at the HC3020 which has a more modern case and 3D support but the black levels couldn't beat the HC8350

I love this projector for the ease at which one can setup. The image quality is exceptional. However, it's a little bit pricey. Overall, Epson projectors perform really well.

The best you can buy in this price range

This model was recommended to me by two different people and after further research, I was sold. Quality is outstanding without breaking the bank. If you're not necessarily an audiophile but want a great quality projector for your home media room, this Epson meets the challenge.

    Good for home use.

I love home projection systems. This is my 4th or 5th one. Life span is an issue with this device. I always get the insurance. So far this has given me a great picture even with daylight lighting the room.

    Better than expected

    Posted .

We had our reservations about installing our media room. This was all new for us. Now that it is complete, we do not know why we did not do it sooner. If the lights are all the way up, yes, the colors will wash out some. But whats the fun of watching a program on TV, a great movie, or playing the WII with the lights way up? We turn down the dimmer and then, wow, what a picture! It looks better in our room than it did in the store! While we are seated in our theater seats and immersed in our surround sound watching 106" of media, we have no desire to ever head to the theater again!

I replaced my old panasonic 720p with this projector and have been pleasantly pleased. Great lighting (with or without light on in the movie room) Colors are great and choices of brightness are very good. Only have had projector about a month or so, but so far very very good.

    Great solid projector

This is a great projector and I'm sure I will be happy with this for many years to come.. The only negative is that it is a little heavy and I had to purchase a new mount (unable to use my old one). I picked one up from amazon that works perfectly. Overall picture quality is great and it is soooo quiet. Very happy so far!

    Great picture! Huge Screen!

    Posted .

I have this projector with a screen that's about 185 inches diagonally and the picture quallity is still amazing. I would have went bigger but the screen wouldn't have fit on my wall. If you're going to get a projector that costs less than 2000 dollars this is the one to get. It doesn't come with any speakers. I would recommend the Denon receiver with Boston speakers and sub package that best buy also offers. I'd say the sound system is even better than bose and costs half as much.

When we bought this I was worried about the quality, but even at the greatest size quality is still great! Additionally, the fan is very quiet.

    So amazing

Now I know what people at the Worlds Fair must have felt like 70 years ago experiencing telephones and televisions and such for the first time. My jaw dropped when we set it up and played a blu ray. Truly amazing to have an affordable 90+ inch TV at home. Wow.

    Very Solid projector

At $1,300 it is worth the money. It can be kind of hard to set up hanging from a slanted ceiling, but otherwise does a hell of a good job, even if the room isn't very dark.

had to go to 3 lcd as I have bad rainbow effect...went through 2 dlp projectors before biting the bullet for this one. had an optoma (great picture) and a viewsonic (not so great) but both had bad rainbows. bought this...had to make space for it since it's like a suitcase but since you can move the display a good bit it wasn't bad. high price, but great picture

    Upgrade For The Home Theater

I wanted to upgrade my projector and found the Epson 8350 was the one to buy. This model has a great picture even with the default settings. I was going to use a 100"-110" screen until I changed my plans and went with a 130". WOW!!!

    Great projector for price, but...

    Posted .

It is a great projector. The picture is awesome for the price. I had a few issues and ended up returning it twice, the last time for good. The first projector, on power up, would get intermittent auto-iris errors, even when the auto-iris wasn't enabled. I would have to unplug the projector because it became completely unresponsive on a couple occasions. The second one, the auto-iris was audible from 5 feet away. You could hear it clunking away. It also got the auto-iris errors on power up, but not as often, and I was able to power it down with the remote when it happened (no unplugging). I ended up getting the Epson 6010 for $2300 more because I didn't want my wife calling me to tell me she got "the iris error" again. If it was just me using it, I would have kept it for the price. No sense in spending the extra money for a few little issues. From the little research I did, the issues are correctable with firmware updates. I don't know why Best Buy doesn't do them before they sell it. They wouldn't have had 2 projectors returned and I wouldn't have spent $3500.

    AMAZING!!!

I did a lot of research on what projector to buy and this one keep coming up over and over. So I bought it and watch all sorts of TV on it while recovering from surgery. AMAZING!!! Just got finished watching Daytona 500, and its just projected onto my off-white paneled basement and it was AWESOME!!! So larger than life. There were times it felt like i was driving the car. You definately wont be disappointed with this projector. I did but the black tie program due to other reviews of weak lamp life. Love it!!! No Regrets!!!

I've had a few of these now. I would recommend getting the insurance with it as my bulbs have gone out a couple times and geek squad just replaced the whole unit. Great for the price, I don't even use a screen.
