Terrific Projector - Dark Room Not Needed

This is my second projector, but first from Epson. This one performed much better and here are the things I liked most about it:
- The image quality was excellent, even in a lit room. With my previous projector, the room would have to be almost completely dark. To test the video quality out we watched "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" and a TV episode of "The Orville". Both met and exceeded our expectations.
- Darks were displayed well. I did not see any washed out effects like I had on my last projector.
- Other things/features I liked include a quality remote, Wi-Fi functionality, and on-board speakers so you can get audio on the go.
Cons:
- As with all projectors, this one puts out a lot of heat. Make sure you have a place to put it that won't be blowing hot air on you for the duration of the movie.
- The fan is also fairly loud, but a necessary evil.
If you are looking for a projector to give you a home theater experience, or for on the go presentations, this thing can do it all.

This is a review for the Epson Pro EX9210 Wireless Projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.
Pros: Easy to Use, Quiet
Cons: Expensive, Sound Quality
IN THE BOX
Projector
Remote control
2 AA batteries
Power cord (3 prong plug, cord about 5 ft long)
USB cable with USB male end and USB A end
CRT cable (for PC monitor, about 5 ft long give or take a few inches)
Wireless LAN module (to make the projector wireless capable)
Quick Set Up Guide
CD for links to projector manual and software (you can register from this CD too)
Case (has shoulder strap with pocket with secure strap for projector and separate pocket for accessories and cords)
Easy to use. The best part is no tools necessary to set up! It has amazing resolution. Ran very smooth. Picture was absolutely gorgeous, way better than the theater. The native resolution of this is 1920 by 1200.
It has two HDMI inputs (one is MHL-enabled), plus VGA and even composite inputs.
It has a single USB A port which can accept USB storage devices, or the included Wi-Fi adapter. The included adapter supports 2.4GHz only, and you can either use it to connect to the projector directly, or to have it connect to an existing wireless network. The Epson mobile app, iProjection, is used to do the former and seems to work well for showing photos from your device, for example.
This projector will be used for watching movies in the back yard or while camping so good sound and a clear picture while enlarged is critical. Audio: I panicked for a moment when an online search after setup revealed that this projector isn't capable of directly connecting to external speakers. The sound coming from the projector is just fine for presentations or a small setting, but not for showing a movie outside. I tested using the audio connection on the back of the projector directly in to an external speaker and it didn't work. I tried using that same external speaker over the bluetooth connection that's already set up with my Chromebook and it didn't work. I then connected the speaker to the Chromebook using an audio cable, turned off bluetooth, and checked the 'headphones' option in the audio settings box, and it worked. Now I have great sound using my external speaker and tested the setup by streaming an online movie and we're ready to go for a fantastic outdoor movie experience. For a great picture that beats out any of the theaters that we have been to, this projector is fantastic.

I have no words for how amazingly clear and crisp the picture is with this projector. It's truly top of the line and is worth the price. Something like this 15 years ago would easily cost double, and the quality and features are fantastic. I guess 4K would be asking too much, but the fact that it has a LAN module for wireless connectivity and has MHL connectivity (which a lot of devices have but most people are familiar with HDMI), this is a great device for presenting videos and any type of digital content.

“This is a review for the Epson Pro EX9210 Wireless Projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review."
This product was so simple to set up and use in multiple locations and events. When I first received the product set up was simple. I un-boxed the projector and plugged my fire stick into the back HDMI port and had a movie projected within minutes. Viewing movies was amazing on this projector. The color contrast and brightness went beyond my expectations and we were able to watch movies in midday with a very bright room. This projector allows for auto color adjusting with the click of a button! Amazing for a new user like myself.
I also used the projector for a work project, connecting it to my HP laptop. When presenting a power point with fine detail and excel templates, there was never an issue with being able to see the information clearly.... And projecting on a green chalkboard wasn't an issue because I could auto adjust the device color mode to be set up to present on just that a "green chalkboard". One of the features I was most excited about, the wireless option (I thought I would be able to stream videos without connecting a device) required a lot more set up than I expected. First signing the projector to the network and then downloading an app (iprojector) or a wireless connection key to communicate with the unit. This is something I haven't had time to set up yet. The HDMI connections worked for my current needs just fine.
Overall, although this projector has great color and brightness while streaming movies, this projector is ideal for the work environment with little sound. If this unit was used for sound and steaming movies, the built in audio speakers does not support a great listening experience and I would recommend external speakers be connected. The wireless capability and the ability to project fine detail on many surfaces makes this projector a great addition for any professional on the move, for presentations of any amount of detail.
The photos attached show the projection of movies onto my backdoor shutters in daylight.

Crisp Picture with a tricky set up

So after prepping for presentations with my team this week and delving into the features that would be efficient in set up and break down for quick meetings and quick break-downs I have to say I am neutral on this projector.
The picture is amazing I will say that. By far a power packed and visually stunning image. I was able to play Ted Talks on the projector and it was crazy how clear the picture was. The attached picture was a feature of Mount Everest and you'll notice it's a bit of a sloppy set up but I needed to confirm it would be a smooth set up.
The mobile app needs refinement. It can cast slides but didn't make it easy to set up. It is great that the projector comes with a wireless connector but then you have to search for an access point, and then you can cast items from your mobile device but I dislike that you can only cast items that are capable of uploading through their application platform. So if you're trying to toggle between graphs, links, videos and such it will be hard. Now if you are hard wired to an HDMI cable you can do all of what I just said in a instant but you're tethered down.
It comes with cables to help with connecting to devices, the LAN wireless connector and this nice carrying case for easy travel and the speakers are okay. I didn't expect high definition sounds but that's alright since I connected it to a separate speaker for better coverage for my audience.
Overall, great, great, great visual and image quality, needs a easier/user friendly setup for mobile applications and the ability to cast from mobile devices without having to use the application.
Team meetings are going to be stunning now as opposed to huddling around a small computer when I can easily cover about 25 ft. of wall space in HD Widescreen where the colors look magnificent.

I bought this for a family heritage project my family was working on. The meeting was in a garage during the day. We had no issues with brightness. The only thing is the fan is a bit loud, but that keeps the machine cool, so it is worth the loud fan.
I haven't really watched any movies on the device yet.

I did a lot of research on projectors and had decided on the model I wanted. When I got to the store, this on was the next level up from the one I wanted for only a few dollars more, so I snatched it up.
Since getting it home, I haven't been able to use it because my kids have it all the time!
Easy set up and instructions. Amazing picture. I was going to buy a screen, however, I have grey walls and the picture looks better than my regular TV.
Definitely recommend to buy.

Pros - Great picture, easy to start. Bright enough
Cons - poor volume, no audio output.
Had to use soundbar as a receiver to get adequate sound.
I expected poor sound from projector...what I didn't expect was no audio output.

This is my review of the Pro EX9210 Wireless 1080p+ WUXGA 3LCD Projector by Epson.
This projector is a high quality, professional piece of equipment. The first thing I noticed after taking it from the box in which it was securely packaged, was how light it is. I expected it to weigh more. It is easy to transport in the fabric carry bag that it comes in. There is a side pocket in the bag in which I place the power cord, the USB cord, the remote, and the WIFI adaptor, which all come with the projector.
Before I received this projector, I wondered what would make this so special. The truth is that Epson’s technology is spectacular and what they advertise is not hype. Their 3-LCD design enables them to project a crisp, well-balanced, picture. There is no need to turn down the lights to see what is being shown, whether it is a graph, photograph or a video. The colors are bright as well as the whites. I work mostly with photographs, which I can project with my iPad, or my iPhone using the Epson app and the WIFI adaptor. I can move freely without being tied down with a cord. I can show videos this way, but there is some lag between the picture and the audio. I prefer to use a HDMI cord if I am going to show a video or a movie, which also look very good even though this projector is geared more for a brighter office or a well-lit environment. My wife and I watched the movie Hidden Figures and it was great. The audio consists of a mono speaker which is adequate for a presentation environment. If I want more of a home-theatre type of audio setup with stereo, I connect my Bluetooth sound bar and subwoofer using the stereo RCA audio jacks from the back of the projector to the back of the sound bar. I am sure next summer my wife and I and the rest of the family and grandkids will have a movie night outside. Setting up the 9210 Pro and my portable Epson 80-inch screen and the sound bar system will only take 20 minutes or less. Operating this projector is not complicated at all. The Quick start guide provided with the materials does an excellent job of guiding you through the steps necessary to connect to whatever device you choose. It breaks the connection steps down into a clear and concise order for each means of connecting.
One of the unique features of this projector is the native aspect ratio of 16x10 rather than the standard 16x9. This means you get extra width and a higher resolution. WUXGA stands for Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array and is a 16x10 aspect ratio with a display resolution of 1920x1200 pixels. I don’t want to pretend to be an expert. I had to look that up because I didn’t know what it meant or why it would matter to me. The bottom line is that it enables me to show a bigger picture without losing anything important like sharpness. It wasn’t that long ago that projectors could only produce a resolution of 640 x 480 (VGA). The Epson portable screen that I own automatically can be extended to show aspect ratios of 4x3, 16x9, or 16x10. I use the 16x10 with the 9210 Pro, but I could use the 16x9 if I wanted to. Or I could use a light-colored wall or a bed sheet. Whatever one chooses to project onto he or she will get a great picture.
I own a Surface Book as well as a Surface Pro III which I cannot use an HDMI cable with so I use a mini DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor to connect to the 9210 Pro. I could also use the USB-B slot on the back of the projector and the USB cord which comes with the 9210 Pro. There also is an MHL connection slot. I didn’t really know what that was either. It stands for Mobile High-Definition Link. Essentially it enables me to connect one of my Android tablets to the projector. Sorry, you cannot use an iPhone or an iPad or an Apple product or even a Microsoft product now. Most Android devices work with it and it is very fast with no lag time at all. It mirrors the screen of the connected device. There is no adapter for connecting the MHL included with the accessories, but you can pick one up for $14-$25.
Epson provides all the software needed to run the USB connection and the projection app for connecting your Smartphone or tablet wirelessly. The user’s manual and other software which would enable you to connect more than one computer to the projector at the same time are also provided online. The disk that comes with the unit will place the shortcuts needed to get the software and manuals on your desktop. Another thing Epson has online is an interactive page where you can enter the model number of your projector and other statistics that will then give you a 2-dimensional layout that you can print showing the distance you need to be from your screen, the ideal height of the projector, etc. That came in handy during initial setup and I am sure it will every time I set up in a new environment.
I am highly satisfied with the Pro EX9210 Wireless 1080p+ WUXGA 3LCD Projector by Epson. The only thing I may do as a personal choice is pick up a hard case with the foam inside that I can cut out for a precise fit to use for transporting the 9210 Pro and storing all the accessories that I use. Even though the carry bag works fine it does not provide any protection against dropping the projector, or dust, or water damage.
I really like the Epson 9210 Pro and I recommend it. I am looking forward to many years of use from this machine. I wouldn’t doubt that it will outlast me as well built as it is.

I installed this projector with a ceiling mount in our conference room. Picture is sharp. We had replaced an older epson that still worked, but wasn't sharp enough for our employees to read words during training. No issues with the new one. Excellent picture. My only complaint is that the projector is fairly noisy. Not a huge issue, but I can really hear it when I am alone in the room. My son enjoyed watching a movie on it one Saturday when i came in to work. All in all, i am satisfied with the Epson projector.
