Mainly bcuz the printer does not have an option to use less/minimal ink for the print jobs that are less important, like coupons, directions and so on. For items that you need those tye ink is pretty crisp. There's juat not enough of it even in the xl size. As far as installing it? Its a PAIN! Its def not a pop in a go process. Its liie starting frim scratch. I actually had to return and exchange bcuz it the printer didnt recognize the 1st one.

I do not print often or a lot. I do not like to have a lot of paper around, so I am digital as much as I can. However, this printer ink works really well.

Epson ink good quality but very expensive
