    Wifi wonderful

    Posted .

Decided to upgrad from the Epson CX8400 which I enjoyed for almost 2yrs, to this one because I needed a fax machine/wifi. I have a laptop connected via wifi and got tired of constantly having to connect to the printer when needed to print. After getting home with the printer and unpacked and did the initial setup of print cartridges and power source and setting the date/country settings it was now time to connect it to my WLAN. There's a few different ways to attach via wifi. Since my network has security features enabled I had to manually input my SSID, keyphrase, etc (be sure to follow the instructions up to this point) DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL SOFTWARE/DRIVERS BEFORE DOING THIS. Once I completed these steps it was time to load drivers/software on pc and go thru that process, on the display of printer it showed that it was connected to my WLAN, however when it came time in the installation of the software on my pc to scan/locate the printer it said "No printer found" after doing a little troubleshooting and going through this process several times and uninstalling/reinstalling I called the Epson customer support line (no toll-free by the way) the guy didn't know what he was talking about and told me that it was my computer/router!!! What? Anyways I decided to research more on their website and found that in some routers you have to disable/turn off the (AP Isolation) and also be sure that you DISABLE ALL FIREWALL/ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE before installing software. Needless to say I finally got it connected and I started at 3pm and finished at 6pm....Prints fine, but haven't used fax/scan features yet. Overall I love the Epson brand and would buy again.

    Epson outshines HP!!!

    Posted .

I had been a fan of HP printers, in fact I had Officejet 6500 and used it for more than eight years until it DIED recently due to wear and tear. I debated whether I should replace it with another HP printer or not, and then I saw Epson WorkForce 610, but it took me several days before I finally decided to buy Epson instead. My decision was right! Epson is beautiful! Its color prints are more vivid than HP's. The only things that I have yet to prove is its longevity and ink usage. But so far, I have no complaints!

Great quality at an affordable price!

    Posted .

I bought the Epson all-in-one Workforce printer to replace a rather new HP all-in-one that died in a lightning strike. I was delightfully surprised by the Workforce printer. The software is so much less bloated than the HP's software and I can literally use all of the Workforce's functions remotely. I have the printer in a guest bedroom/office and the family uses laptops all over the house. I can remotely access the memory card reader, the scanner, the fax, and the printer of course. I found that my HTC Evo 4G was able to print to it as well. The ink is cheaper than HP as well. My only complaint is that it is noisy when printing.

    Great Printer, But...

    Posted .

This is a great printer, as long as you do not need it to print wirelessly. I rated the print quality as a three, though, because the pages feed slightly askew. If I wanted to submit a manuscript or formal writing, I would not feel comfortable using this printer because you never know when it will print crooked. The worst part is that the printer just all of sudden quit printing wirelessly for no apparent reason. It still prints perfectly to the desktop to which it is wired, though. The wireless set up was difficult enough with this printer, and I do not desire to go through it again, so I have opted to simply never print anything or to e-mail it to myself and open it on the desktop. It is really quite a hassle for me as a full-time student who has a lot of papers to write and proofread to have to go through the trouble of using a perfectly good printer that has for some reason just completely failed me.

    Great value and performance

    Posted .

I have always been an HP-Printer guy, but we needed a 4 in 1 (fax) so the choices were slimmer. We got this at a great sale price ($98! - 5DEC09) ...and I was almost ready to spring for the Artisan 810 ($199) when, looking at this one, the only real difference was no automatic double sided printing, no touch screen and slower print speed on photos...nothing that was worth the extra $100 to me. I connected it via Ethernet to my router and had zero (none!) problems loading the software for both my Vista desktop and my son's MacBook (OS 10.5) (He's printing wirelessly but thru the network - no problems) . ( So - disclaimer - I have not tried using its wireless features...only as a networked printer on a wireless home network.) Once the cartridges have "charged" it prints incredibly fast even on normal print speed. I did notice that when I had not printed for 2 days, the first print job seemed to take a long time (maybe 2 minutes) of re-charging the print cartridges and other miscellaneous, important sounding beeps and burps... (that's the only reason my speed score is a "4") but no big deal. Also tried 4x6 photo print direct from the memory card. Beautiful print... seemed to take awhile, but I don't print all that many photos. If you plan to print A LOT of photos, this model could drive you nuts. Also tried the FAX and no problems. Sends from the machine or direct from PC ( ie - can FAX any document straight from my PC ... no printing req'd...pretty cool) . Find this convenient since I have older parents who may be the last people left on the planet with a FAX but no computer... so now I can FAX them emails (Sad...but convenient) . Also - despite one other reviewer's difficulties , when connected as shown in the directions to the home answering machine, the FAX and answering machine played nice together... make sure you follow the directions for setting the FAX to pick up at least 1 ring after the Answering Machine AND connect in the sequence shown in the manual (Serial connection , not a Parallel connection!) One annoying thing I observed is that the print ed output seemed to be slightly skewed on the paper... so be careful when you load the paper to readjust the moveable print guide snug (but not tight) up against the paper. It can only move about 2 "clicks" but that seems to be enough to take that little bit of slop out of the paper feeding ..so everthing prints nice and square now. I did own one Epson printer about 7 years ago - that one died after about 5 months when the print heads permanently clogged after not printing anything for 4-5 days. So far this one is working flawlessly - just hope it doesn't "clog" like its older brother.... maybe worth printing at least a test page if nothing else every few days. So far so good... looks nice, very fast and reasonably quiet (after the first "chunk" when it starts the first page) ....Great deal

    Best Printer I ever purchased

    Posted .

I compared several printers & all-in-ones before I bought this one. Besides the recommendations of the Best Buy staff, this machine comes with 4 High Capacity cartridges - not the starters, but $75 retail! It was easy to set up, and is a very fast, high-quality printer. The scanner, copier, & fax all work great too. The wireless capabilities let the kids access it fro their laptops, so they don't have to be wired down. I don't think I can recommend this any higher!

    Impressive printer/copier/fax, problems w/scan

    Posted .

Outstanding print quality of documents and photo prints and photocopies. Has several adjustments to reduce and enlarge copies. Most of my faxing is outgoing, so have not encountered problems reported in other reviews with regard to receiving faxes - good to have a heads-up on that feature. Only problem has been with the scanner. It keeps losing the network IP address for unknown reasons. ??!! Even so, the scanner will still scan to the SD disk even while network is disabled. Overall, I would buy this printer again and recommend it to friends. It's an outstanding value and really cleaned up our desk. We put the stand-alone fax and scanner in storage!

Great Printer/Copier/Scanner & Fax for Home Office

    Posted .

This Epson 610 Workforce is Fantastic! I got it on sale for $129.00 and it's worth every penny! It's not that quiet, but it prints, scans, copies and faxes fast! The colors are nice - has seperate color cartridges so it's cheaper when you have to replace the empties. The ink lasts longer too. I love the wireless capability - I print from my home network desktop and laptop. I have a landline hooked up to it for my dedicated fax line - has tons of faxing options too. Holds lots of paper. Also has an automatic paper feeder for copying and faxing. Scanner works great and also gives lots of options to you. Still haven't used "all" the functions on the machine yet - there's soooo many! Very happy with it so far!

    Good value

    Posted .

A good value for my purchase price of about $100. This is a home printer and I haven't put it through all of its paces yet, but for home printing jobs, the quality seems decent. I wanted a printer that it was also possible to make regular and unusual size copies, and it does this. I deferred wireless set-up at first, but it was easy to go back and add later. It's been a bonus to be able to print from my laptop anywhere in the house. The only downside is that the paper feeder seems flimsy and sounds like its grinding a little when it works, so I've been wondering if something isn't working right. It hasn't impeded performance, though. There is also a lot less bloatware with the printer, which is one reason I stayed away from HP.

Printer fits into my space for it

    Posted .

This printer was a replacement for its predecessor model the Workforce 600. That printer developed a problem that I could not fix. It would print green lines in photos and sometimes in text. I changed the ink cartridges and ran many cleaning cycles and realigned the jets, but the green lines remained. I was disappointed in the printer after only a few months use. While under warranty, Best Buy replaced it for me with the successor model, the Workforce 610. I still like the design and simple layout- although the LCD screen display has been reworked. So far, so good, and no green lines (yet). I hope they don't appear with the 610 printer.

Best All In One for the money!

We have 4 laptops and 2 desktop computers hooked up to this printer and it is a workhorse. It never jams and it is always available on the network. Even after losing power in the whole house and rebooting, All the computers seem to sync back up without a glitch.

    Solid All in One Solution

I have my printer connected via wireless in my home. I am a computer technician and it took me a few tries to get it up and running on my network. Once it was hooked up I haven't had any issues. This printer offers several options which I find useful. Printing via wireless eliminates the need of extra cables. I can load pictures from the printer's sd slot right to my computer Create pdf's of documents then email them. Overall good printer for the price and lots of features to make your computing easier

    Huge Epson Fan!!

    Posted .

We've owned Epsons for many, many years and trust that their picture and print quality is always awesome. They also build machines that are BUILT TO LAST. Our other Epson is still working (is an Epson Stylus Photo 700 to show how old it is), and it is still kicking strong. We bought this Epson all-in-one machine since we wanted to go wireless with our new laptop. Not only was it easy to set up, it works wonderfully as we've hoped. I would highly recommend this all-in-one to anyone and would purchase an Epson again and again without hesitation.

I have been very pleased with my purchase. It was easy to set up and installed itself. And the quality is great. I have made copies and scanned images into my computer with ease. Everything looks great. I havent tried to print photos yet. It is a great small machine that has everything I needed to start my business.

    I like it

We wanted a printer that allowed everyone in our household to print from their laptop. This printer does it for us. I had a problem getting one Mac working (another setup just fine). It took a phone call to Epson, who did help get it working, but even the obvious fixes didn't work at first. So don't hesitate to call Epson support if your first try to set up a computer doesn't work. I can't give this a 5 overall because it's inkjet, which means the ink costs are high.

    Wireless on Linux or Windows!

    Posted .

This a great productivity improver. The doc feeder/scanner makes electronic record keeping easy. The printing is pretty good (I don't print photos). The only drawback is that the printer is very finicky about ink cartridges -- It throws errors fairly often. So, I have to remove and reinstall the cartridges. Also, it won't print at all, when only one cartridge is empty. Bottom line: For the price, this was the deal of the year!

    Good Printer

This is my first Epson Product and I am quite happy with it. It was very easy to set up and it prints surprisingly quick. Also it looks very nice. I have not had any problems with it so far. The only thing that bothered me was the price. Other then that it is a good printer.

Great all in one printer value

    Posted .

A great value with all the features we were seeking. The wireless feature was easy to set up. We have two computer hard wired to a router & it was a breeze to install the printer & then sync it to both computers. Several of my friends had bought one of these & both were very happy with their selection. If there is a downside it would be that the instruction manuals could be clearer & more complete. It did not address the situation if you wanted to connection one computer directly to the printer & a second computer wireless, but I addressed that to customer support & am waiting an answer even though I have alrerady connected both computers via wireless method.

    So far, very good

    Posted .

This printer makes very good copies and very fast. It has 4 different cartridges, so you only replace the one color that's empty. That's a good feature because cartridges are so expensive. On the "down" side, it does make quite a bit of noise when it first starts up - kind of a bumping and grinding to get the cartridges in place, but for me this is actually a good thing when I'm sending a print job from another room - I can hear it start up and know that the job will be printing. I did also run into a problem with using it to print right after I used it to make copies. Could not figure out how to get out of the copy/fax/scan mode whch is why I gave it a 4 in features. Manual didn't help. I managed to get it to print but I'm still not sure how that happened - you know how that goes. Suddenly it works but you don't know what you did to make it work. I was going to call tech support. That's the only problem I've had so far but I'm sure tech support would have taken care of it. Overall, this is a very good product - and so much faster than my former HP ones.

    Great 4 in 1 Printer

    Posted .

I purchased this printer after purchasing a new PC running Windows 7 to replace my outdated printer, and separate scanner with faxing capability. The Epson Workforce 610 is a "workhorse". It prints quickly with clean lettering, you can adjust and print excellent quality pictures without even turning on your PC. It can scan either color or B&W page to the printer or to the PC in JPEG or PDF format. When scanning multiple pages to PDF it creates a multi page PDF file! The fax setup was simple and works excellently, too. Great printer. BTW - you actually should read the directions before attempting to install. I tried to use the CD that came with the product to install it and after an hour (plus) of frustration looked at the information packaged with it. It clearly stated DO NOT use this CD if you are running Window 7 with directions to go to the Epson site and download the compatible printer files. Even setting up the wireless connection was incredibly easy "piece of cake" .
