Full disclosure: This is a review for the ES-300W Wireless Portable Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. Now that we got that bit out of the way, let's talk about this great portable scanner. I travel for work and visit many trade shows and meet with many customers and prospects. If you're in the sales biz or are a decision maker in your organization, you know that your pockets are full of business cards and your briefcase is full of collateral after a day at the trade show or conference. I've tried many different apps and other portable solutions for card scanning that were either slow, tempermental when connecting with my laptop, or had poor quality scans. I'm happy to say that those dark days are behind us with the Epson ES-300W. Not only does it scan in varying DPI that you choose, but it does single pass duplex scanning and does it very quickly. I was quite surprised the 1st time I scanned some docs how quickly it was complete. Business cards are scanned quickly and also in full duplex. I was also able to scan receipts for my expense reports quickly and easily. The scanner can be connected either via USB or wifi. It has an internal battery that lasts for over a day (by my testing) and can also draw power via USB. I usually connect up via USB while at the booth and leave the power brick in the hotel room for sustained scanning sessions. If you need a fast and capable duplex scanner, the Epson ES-300W won't steer you wrong.

Out of the box, I was impressed with the size and weight of the scanner. Super compact and lightweight. I have a Mac, and had to install the driver and software, which was easy to find and installation was straight forward. The step-by-step instructions made it easy to set it up with the home network, specifically, the WPS setup was very smooth (first time I ever used it). I also appreciate the auto update the software did to the latest version (but why the latest version was not the one on the website, still not clear to me). What I didn’t know about this device, and is now my favorite feature, is that it has a battery and can work with no wires, none. It came pre-charged, and once the wifi setup was done I was able to print from it to my laptop as a standalone device. Big like. OCR is working as expected and it was easy to set up and save my own preferences schema. It scanned well on both sides, quiet and fast. One feature that would make my life easier, is the ability to control the default naming conventions (like adding '_' between the year, month and day), and being able to set the file name after the scan is done, just before it auto creates the file. I have owned other portable scanners, and one being another epson. I have to say that this has to be one of the fastest, most accurate, and long battery life scanner I have used. Being able to scan multiple sheets at a time ( up to 20 ) sheets in the auto sheet feed is amazing. Even with the resolution set to the highest I was impressed on how fast the pages would scan. I do lots of work related and personal scanning of documents using my iPad and iPhone. Being able to wirelessly scan using the scanner helps out tremendously. Yes this is more of document scanner and not photo scanning, but have to say that there is really no big loss in the details of a scanned picture. This scanner exceeded all of my exceptions. I connected this scanner to my home network and was able to easily find and use it with the Epson Scan software. It definitely meets the 25ppm scan speed in color in 600x600 dpi which makes for crystal clear scans. I was able to easily scan a couple loan paperwork documents that I have been wanting to have backups of and it was quick and easy to do that with this scanner. I now have these backed up and don't have to worry about the originals getting destroyed. I would have to say that my favorite feature of this scanner is the ability to use it just about anywhere. This scanner is awesome and so easy to use. I like this scanner better than the one on my printer because its so much easier to use and its a lot faster. The quality of the scans are top notch also. The way it scans up to 20 documents at once and the portability is something you can't overlook. Just being able to stay at my desk pays for the price of the scanner. I am predominantly a Mac and iOS user so my review will reflect my experience with those platforms. Initial Impressions This scanner is very attractive and seems to be well constructed, it’s an item I would be proud to use in my home office and away when I travel for work frequently. There’s a bit of heft to this unit as it does contain a built-in battery, the weight does not make it inconvenient but it’s not light enough that I would always keep it in a computer bag. One design feature that I’m grateful for is the locking lid/document feeder as in another scanner I have from another company the lid would flop open and could be potentially damaged, not here! I am quite impressed by the options to connect to scanner: USB, Wifi Direct, or attached to my home existing wifi network and the support for mobile scanning. Setup Software is not included in the box with the scanner, but it is a moderate sized download that should not take long on a broadband connection. Hardware setup on Wifi was a little problematic in that the installation software requires you to have support for WPS on your WiFi network (a known security issue). I was able to work around this issue but attaching via the WiFi AP mode then use scanner utility to adjust the settings to use my WiFi Network. The Epson Scan software that comes as part of the initial setup download does a good job. If you would like more options for scanning however I would Epson Document Capture. Epson Document Capture allows you to create searchable PDFS or scan directly to an FTP Server, Evernote, SugarSync, Google Drive. Scanning using USB was flawless and painless across all of the applications I used. Use I work away from the office most of the time and frequently have to scan documents to share with others. When I’m in the office I prefer not to use our large multifunction printers for scanning as this portable scanner is far more efficient and more convenient. My document management application on the Mac is Paperless. My Epson Workforce Ecotank printer works well over over my wifi network hopefully with Paperless, so I’m hoping it will work with this scanner as well soon. Scanning works well over all applications that I tried with USB. The iOS Epson DocumentScan application does a good job of allowing you to scan, rotate, reorder, and export documents to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Evernote, Box, or other online services. Thanks to the scanning speed of the Epson ES300-W it has helped me clear out my backlog of personal documents I’ve held off on because of my other scanner’s speed. Overall There were some initial setup hurdles with Wifi, but USB scanning is flawless. This is my second portable scanner that I have owned but this is by far the best.I have been VERY happy with the performance of this little scanner and I would recommend it to others for use in a home office and as a road warrior. The Epson ES-300W Scanner is a compact feature rich portable unit. It is a nice compact size, but it is also very light. It weighs in at less than 3 pounds not including the 110 volt wall charger. Setup was easy The unit is fairly new on the market at this writing. I like that it has multiple page auto feed, single feed for things like business cards, driver license or any small card. This scanner is well designed and has a number of nice features. The scans are clear and easy to read. Everyone at home has a use for it. School work for the kids, saving receipts for my husbands expense reports, and making copies. This is my first portable scanner, I have always used a flatbed one. It is nice and small but a little heavy for it's size because of the battery. I loved the scanner, it was fast, can scan multiple pages, and produced quality scans. I tried scanning from multiple devices; my computer, an android phone, and iPhone. I was able to scan successfully to all of them. It was nice to be able to scan my receipts instead of have to take pictures of them when I was out in the field. I did have few minor issues when scanning but nothing major that would impede my use of it. Most of the issues could be fixed by software or firmware update. One of the issues that I had was when scanning business cards, even though the cards were being pull in straight, the images were crooked. This is a review for the ES-300W Wireless Portable Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. Even because of that fact above I was really impressed with it's performance. I have lots of paper to scan weekly and I spent hours doing that, espesially double sided papers. When I opened it I was like, well, this is small so it will be slow performer. For test I had about 100 double sided papers to scan. For my surprise it did it's job in no time. I could not even believe it! Quality is good as well. Only thing that I did not like is since it very fast it some times scan papers in the angel. not straight.. But having it done so fast you can re-do it few times. Overall I like everything the rest. Set up was pretty easy. Same as un-boxing. So far I'm really happy with this unit. Personally speaking, I suggest you to try first before buying. I would probably never spend $300 on it, thinking it will be just about average scanner but now I would do it in no time after I saw it at work.

I was skeptical about such a small scanner being fast at scanning both sides of documents, that skepticism is gone! This scanner ran through a stack of business receipts in seconds. I ran through another stack of contracts capturing front and back at the same time and emptied out my file cabinet! The scanner is great for receipts, business cards, and pretty much all documents! There's are 2 downsides, but not a big ones. There isn't a slider on the bottom to catch the scanned papers, so don't keep it on the very edge of your desk! The software and drivers are not included in the box, you have to download them.

I write reviews in other places. This is the first time I am writing in Best Buy and doing that very happily. This product surprised me. I am writing this review after using this product both as home user and a small business owner. This is a professional quality scanner. Pros: Sleek design: Very handy and wieldy. Though it belongs mostly next to a computer, it is pretty portable. Great idea to separate it from ever so heavy printers. Weight, shape and size are all in the interest of ease. Fast: I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the speed. Maybe it is common for Epsons but it was a first time for me. I had always been frustrated with the speed of scanners available with printers. The speed isn't about just how fast the documents are processed through the device but also how quickly the scanned image is available on the computer/mobile device. There is NO latency in painting of the scan. That is a given behavior of the other scanners (in printers). Multiple wireless options:It is great that wireless scanning is available and it is not basic. You can choose this to become a network scanner and scan to any device in the network. Auto linking to WPS enabled routers is a great feature and ALL peripheral devices should take this idea. Additional option to use it as an access point is very useful in case you have a really old router with no WPS facility. So, you are not stuck really. Scan quality: Though this should be expected of any Epson product, it is worth mentioning the quality of scan amazing. Multiple paper sizes and document types support: It has a great support for papers sizes from A6 through Legal. I am very happy to see a key differentiator in terms of a card mode. Now, I quickly scan high quality images of business cards of hundreds of my associations from the past. Additionally, this is handy scan identity cards like DL, membership cards, insurance cards, etc. Silent and energy efficient: Epson keeps up with its name and tradition in this product. It is very quiet and energy efficient. It goes to sleep as needed while keeping just a wifi access on. Cons: There is nothing alarming really but there are some areas of improvement. These are mostly in usability area. I wouldn't ding a star for this as it works alright and is not prohibitive at all. Wifi vs USB choice: I think in today's age everyone would be inclined to use wifi based connection but this scanner needs to change toggle to/from USB when you make such choice. Not such a big bother but I would expect it to decide a precedence itself. Mutiple software toolset: There are multiple software toolset used to set up and/or scan. It will be great if it is simplified. Also, the documentation is a very exhaustive for a technicial - but perhaps too exhaustive for a user. I love this product. “This is a review for the ES-300W Wireless Portable Duplex Document Scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.” This is my review of the Epson ES-300W wireless duplex document scanner. Upon arrival of the scanner I found the packaging to be well designed and well protected. All items were neatly packaged and easy to unpack. First let me state that this is my first wireless scanner I have owned. I like to look and feel of the product and have high hopes of its performance. Upon beginning the setup, I found that setting up the wireless connection is not as easy as pushing a button. After several attempts I was not successful with the connection. As I explore the troubleshooting process I think that the issue may be with my network. I moved on to the wires USB connection and found that part of be simple and was connected in just a few minutes. I am not sure what the issue is with the wireless connection. I have requested help from Epson and expect a fast solution to this issue. I do have other Epson products and have had great success with their customer service. The performance of the scanner is amazing. I have scanner several documents and the speed and quality is very impressive. I find myself looking for things to scan. If you are looking for a quality scammer that is fast and can handle several sheets at a time this is the one for you.

After 21 years in the IT field, I've see a lot of devices come and go. Some were useful & others not so much, but I was honestly blown away by how compact and user friendly this scanner really is. It literally sets up in just a few minutes and with the surprisingly light weight, built in rechargeable battery, as well as, the ability to connect via USB 3.0, WiFi or WiFi Direct, this device is truly ready to go whenever & wherever you are! Truth be told, I didn't realize how often I found myself needing to scan something, whether it be to email a document to someone or upload to the cloud for safekeeping. This truly is an asset to have, but one you won't realize you needed until you have with you! I would definitely put this in the category of a no regret purchase & one that will make life a little easier.

Just spent hours buying and setting this device up. I'm an IT professional - and the setup for this thing was cumbersome and archaic. I own Linux and Chromebook machines, which it is NOT compatible with. Had to borrow a windows machine to set it up. Worst part is that it does NOT work with Epson Scan to Cloud. Epson is super unclear on this, advertising in product features that it is compatible with online Cloud functions. To top that out, scanning performance is sub par to my 8-10 year old Workforce 845. Already getting feed errors after 2 documents. Only product advantage is that it's small and light.

Fast, reliable and convenient! This is my second one. My first one lasted almost 3 years.

DO NOT BUY THIS SCANNER. Have a tax business so a scanner is a necessary part of my business. Not huge volume but I need dependability and this is NOT that scanner. Have to reboot more most of the time to get it to work. Currently looking to junk mine and get a better scanner.

Not very impressed..when first got it set it up worked fine and now it finds the built in wifi ..but not the scanner itself ..have to spend an hr or more having to keep trying to set up..and being a truck driver i need it to be ready when i am.
