As someone who scans numerous documents and pictures for work and personal needs, I always utilized a printer/scanner combo. If I had journal articles that needed to be turned into digital PDFs for research papers it would take me 5-10 min for a simple 15-20 page article. Not to mention I’d constantly screw up the fact that if a sheet was double sided, I’d need to manually sort or flip each page. This duplex capable, 50 sheet scanner blew me away. It’s compact and easy for me to move to whatever room of the house I am working in. I am able to stack 50 – double sided (yes you read that right) sheets into the top feeder and within less than a minute have it all nicely imported into a searchable PDF file. The setup is seamless, takes maybe 10-15 minutes and the instructions are fool proof. It’s also compact enough to hide away when not in use. I personally will be scanning more papers to declutter personally, now that I know it’s this simple. The manual discusses a wireless connection, however it does not appear this scanner is wifi-capable. If it is, I couldn’t figure it out at all. However, from the SmartScan app you can easily set auto upload to any of your file storage services (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.). It’s also easy to attach any PDF to an email or simply save it as a file. This scanner is quick, efficient, and extremely quiet for how quickly it does it’s job. Overall if you are someone who scans numerous documents daily, and hates having to manually flip or collect papers, this may be a lifesaver. This is only a scanner though, so keep that in mind for people who may need or utilize a copy/print function more. There really is nothing to dislike about the actual scanner itself. The only minor annoyance with the program itself is that I have not found out how to hide is the “Trial Reciept and Invoice Manager” found in the ScanSmart program. It’s a third button that is simply an ad which I do not intend on clicking. I wish there was a way to ignore temporarily. Excellent device. I really like how compact the scanner is. Barely takes any space up at all. Very simple to use and setup. The installation was very simple following the setup instructions provided. The image quality is very impressive especially considering how fast it scans documents, even double sided is really quick. Very recommended for anyone with a small business. This scanner was very easy to use Had it up and running in 15 min

No wifi. Scan to e mail only works with outdated e mail software. Very basic machine but it does work. You can only connect with usb. It has a reasonable price but limited features.

Initially after opening the package, we was surprised at how compact the Epson 400 II Duplex Desktop Document Scanner was because we also do own an all-in-one flatbed printer/scanner/fax in our in-home office from a different brand. My husband is in IT and I am in the healthcare industry so functionality and low upkeep on items gets priority consideration in our books. Setup was easy via the support website listed in t he packaging to download the Drivers and Utilities Combo Package. Once that was completed, starting up the device was a matter of seconds in comparison to our all-in-one which takes a moments longer to "warm-up" its functions. Having place your papers inside the ADF (automatic document feeder) and pressing the "Scan/Start" button, it was a breeze! We scanned B/W documents, documents with color, documents of various sizes and thickness. What we liked most is the scanners ability to DETECT on its own having the need to scan one side or BOTH sides by itself without us prompting it. We are giving it 4 thumbs up on the duplex capability and speed. Once the scan is captured, there are so many options to save. Some plug-ins require additional downloads and those were quick to do. Being able to convert to different Microsoft functions and Google edit sheets were a bonus. I have to say right up front this small form Epson ES-400 II scanner beats anything I have used in the past. I have been using flatbed scanners since the mid 1990's and they are so slow and clumsy compared to this beauty. I only owned flatbeds until I received this one. Was very easy to set up by going to the Epson website and downloading the software. Then I put an 8.5x11 paper in with the copy of receipt I want to save and wow! Talk about fast! Seconds later it was done, the image showed up on my iMac and I picked the folder I wanted to save it in! Now I decided to send a copy of a receipt to my friend via email and although a bit confusing right at first I figured out you can choose which email address you want to send it from by using the up/down arrows in the software program. Easy as that! Attached it, heard that little whoosh sound and it was immediately received on the other end. I also scanned photographs. Color ones turn out beautiful and this is with the factory settings not touched. It also will do 2 sided scanning which saves a lot of time. Its small form factor sits perfectly in a spot I picked by my computer and I honestly can't find a thing wrong about it. I like the fact it is wired as I have issues with some wireless equipment. It just plugged right into the back of my iMac with the included USB cord. All in all I highly recommend this scanner. It's small, fast and does great quality work! If you are in the market for one of these by all means buy it! You will not be disappointed.

It is a great scanner but for what it does, it is pricey.

Can’t scan to flash drive. Purchased as a gift for daughter out of state When I visited and learned of the limitations I Tried to return it but they wouldn’t take it back. Would never buy again. You should be able to scan to any device.

THIS SCANNER DOESN'T HAVE WIFI. The fact this box has clouds all over it would make you think otherwise. The "clouds" they're referring to is about their software, not the product in the box. Epson should be sued for false advertising. Don't buy this. This is a device for the early 2000's.

The documents get stuck when scaning I have not been able to use it since I purchased it

I could never get the thing to connect to my wife.

The Epson ES-400 ll Desktop Color Document Scanner is everything I have needed for having two small businesses. It is a duplex desktop document scanner and I never realized how badly I needed this in my life. Normally, my desk is a mess with receipts and documents that I must keep up with for several different reasons. It scans front and back at the same time and can do up to 35 pages a minute. It has a 50-sheet auto document feeder that lets me just sit back and let it do all the work. All I have to do is decide where I am going to send the document to in my computer and then let it do its thing. It is amazing to watch it go. I can put a long receipt and it gets every little detail on it. It was easy to install the software & drivers. Everything pretty much did it itself. It worked the first time I tried it and has been amazing since. It is compact but everything opens and that is one of my favorite features is how the trays just fold in and out. I can scan a stack of papers in a flash. The software is amazing. The machine is fantastic, but the software is so good and powerful that it is unreal how fast I can get everything organized. My husband and I both have small businesses, and we keep receipts for everything. It was a pain trying to keep up with them and trying to scan and store them using my printer scanner. Now, it literally only takes a couple of minutes and I have his receipts where they need to be so I can pull them up at any time and the same with mine. Not to even mention I can save them in a searchable PDF format. It is just so easy. I can upload them to the cloud and not have to worry about anything. Overal this appears to be a good scanner. Just a little slow at times.

After using multiple Epson devices one thing remains constant and that's quality and reliability. It doesn't take up much surface space on your desktop and is a powerhouse with all of the different features With the Epson Scansmart software one of my favorite features was making a paper document a searchable file to find specific words allowing for easy corrections and or adding onto a specific area with their Optical Character Recognition. It has a 50 page auto document feeder which was way more than I ever needed to scan at one time.. Another feature I really loved was the slow feed that helps with those thin receipts I get from gas stations and some retail stores where the ink wears off easily. It scans double sided objects with ease and no interruption. The most appealing thing about this scanner was the speed You slide in and it does it so fast it seems like it falls right through. Of course depending on what you scan but for the most part you'll be amazed at how fast you can eliminate all of the paper trails and have everything and sound on your pc or the cloud at your beckoning call anytime you need them. Would highly recommend this to others

As someone who scans a lot of documents, for tax, work and just in general, I don't know how I haven't thought about a dedicated scanner sooner. This is so fast. We recently bought a house and it allowed me to scan every single mortgage and house related document in no time at all which is really convenient when you live somewhere prone to natural disasters like we are. The double sided scanning capability is insane. No need to get up, open the lid of a printer scanner, flip the page, and then spend 5 minutes trying to scan the second side. With this bad boy, you can do it all in a few seconds. That and the auto feeder are definitely absolute -must- haves. If you're on the fence because you can't justify the space for a machine that 'just' scans, fear not! This little thing fits in my office cube shelving PERFECTLY. It takes up no space at all in my already jam packed office space. All in all, I LOVE this and would definitely recommend it to anyone who scans a lot of anything. I received my Epson Workforce ES-400 in a timely manner. It was well packaged with Styrofoam to suspend it in the box. It came with a manual that was straightforward and easy to understand. I didn’t have any problems setting everything up. I like the appearance of the scanner too. Some parts are foldable for better storage. It handled bulk scanning well and worked very quickly! I like how you can rotate pages within the Epson app on your computer. It also scans double sided documents so that’s a huge plus! When scanning documents, I had a couple papers get stuck in the scanner. But the papers had been previously folded and that might have contributed to the jam. I was able to open the scanner and pull the stuck papers out effortlessly. Overall, this is a great scanner and I would recommend it to friends. It's being a couple of days since i received and being trying the Epson 400 II scanner, and i must say i will definately recommend this product. Is easy to install it and easy to use. Takes about five minutes to install it and you are all ready to go! My whole experince with the Epson Scanner has been great. The Scanning is just as easy as it is to install it. The best thing about this scanner i must say is the DOUBLE AND SINGLE SIDE scanning, which makes your work waaaay lighter. This Epson scan is more than what i was expecting. Definately will recommend this to my co workers, family and friends for office and home office, you can even scan photos and fits everywhere it doesnt take much space. Scanning is quick and plus it organizes you documents and saves them as PDF or JPEG. It set up just fine. Now it won't work. I have to take it to or call the geek squad and that I don't have time for. It says unconnected but it's connected into my computer's USB and the blue light is blinking. Annoying Annoying
