We have a lot of documents that we can dispose of and shred but we wanted to make a digital copy of it first. We wanted something that could handle multiple pages and also work wirelessly since both my Wife and I would use it on two different computers. We looked at a few options and decided to go with the Epson ES-500W. Setup was super easy and quick. You plug in the scanner during the software installation and then you can set it up for wireless connection. Switching back and forth between two PC isn't easy but it does work. Scanning speed is very good. There are some slow downs but only when scanning a lot of pages at once. The software automatically launches and picks up the scans and creates a PDF. I love that it will scan double-sided even when you don't specify it because I sometimes forget to turn the feature on when needed. The software gives you a lot of options for where to store the file, whether it is locally or on the cloud. I've been able to scan so many different type of documents as well: Receipts, legal size docs, business cards. It takes it all. If it ever jams, there is a release switch that will let you lift the top half and completely reveal your jammed paper. We're de-cluttering our house from all these documents and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Going back and reading what I just typed made me feel old.

I bought this scanner to archive over 40 years of income taxes and other miscellaneous documents. The scan quality is excellent and it feeds everything from normal page-size documents down to receipts from stores. The wireless connectivity has been perfect. It's so nice to be able to locate the scanner in a convenient place and not be bound to having a USB cable connected to my laptop. I'm extremely pleased with this scanner. Plus, I got it on sale for $70 off.

Easy to setup, easy to use, fast, reliable, and with WiFi can be placed in a better location. Using it to scan dental charts and convert to paperless, so far works like a champ. I also have the 400, pretty much the same but it’s wired in so slightly more limiting. Overall, love both.

After my father's passing, I had thousands of photos to go through and attempt to share with other family. Epson makes a similar model in the Fast Foto FF-680W, but aside from the software, I could not find anything to justify the extra $200. The scanner made fairly quick work of all the photos it scanned, only having trouble with small wallet photos or those removed from an old album that still had glue residue on them. I was very happy with the quality of the scans and would recommend this scanner for anyone with similar needs.

The scanner works great. It is crazy fast. We are just having a devil of a time getting it to connect and stay connected via our wi-fi. Though I am willing to admit it is likely user error, it still seems more difficult that it should be. The only other draw back is that you are limited to 8.5x11 which should be of no consequence to most people.

After years of putting up with all-in-one machines, I switched to this dedicated scanner and it is dramatically better. The quality of scanning is high, the speed is fast, and the user interface is easy. Having it scan automatically into Dropbox is a nice feature. This is an example of getting superior performance from a dedicated machine.

This thing is awesome, after we had some family members pass away I ended up with bin after bin after bin of documents, pictures and other misc things. I purchased this to scan docs and pics. This easily does 30 - 50 sheets, double sided in a minutes or so. It is also super small so it folds away easily.

I have had many previous scanners that were part of my printer, but honestly, a stand alone scanner is the way to go. It scans everything, front and back with one swipe and the copy is good quality and really fast. This is my go to piece of office equipment.

As an older fella, seems we like to keep paper versions of our old stuff! Well ... I've run out of room in my file cabinet and needed a way to reduce all this personal paper to digits. This Epson 500w does the job. It is Fast, easy to set-up and use. Flexible in that it can be hard-wired or Wireless. Got rid of a 40 pound file box first day.

Best Scanner in the market 2020

I have had other scanners .... but of all including the Fujitsu scanners, this one is without a doubt the best scanner in 2020. The software is very strong and gives the user complete control of what to do and how to setup the scanner the way you want it to work. The scanner itself is very fast. All you need to do is have a good internet connection. You install your scanner to your network, where your other devices are connected to and you are ready to go. I personally have 2 scanners connected to the same network and I can work them off several computers. While the other brand (FUJITSU) you can not connect the scanner to other computers unless you disconnect the scanner from computer to computer. I would definitely recommend this scanner over any other in the market today ( 09-2020)

very nice sheet fed scanner that can handle a little bit bigger than letter size media I use this to scan all of the receipts and other paper documents that we might need to keep around but dont need the actual original copies; I use an older program (PaperPort) to scan most of the documents but have scanned into other programs without issues this replaced an older Epson scanner that we just wore out - we also had great success with that the older unit which prompted to reinvest in Epson

Was easy to set up - scans well and quickly - not as easy to e-mail - Working from home and I wanted to e-mail my scans to my work e-mail so they could be put to the appropriate folder when remoting in but I get an error if I try to e-mail immediately after scanning - I have to scan and save to my computer, then later open the saved scan and e-mail. I feel I should be able to e-mail immediately after scan but that doesn’t work. Also the help doesn’t show what the flashing error icons mean and no troubleshooting guide came with. Still I’m ok with it and not sorry I bought it but it’s the first scanner I bought so I have nothing to compare.

Have used this scanner a lot to move our office from paper files to completely digital. Scanner has the ability to scan to any computers within the office which have the downloaded program. The scanner after only a few uses would no longer allow you to scan using the scan button on the scanner itself - you could only do it from the computer program. Also computer program will sometimes malfunction and slow down your computer - it can take several minutes to reset the program to continue your scanning. Overall decent scanner for medium workloads and small businesses/teams.

I researched for quite a while before settling on this unit. I've been very pleased thus far and especially amazed at the speed in which the scanning happens - even duplex mode.
