    Super-Fast Scanner!

While the brown box it comes in may be a bit unassuming, this high-speed scanner is no joke! I remember when they finally added auto document feeders to flatbed scanners and I thought that was a great time saver. Well, my expectations have just been reset. This scanner screams through documents. I put a stack of 25 pages in the feeder, some had previously been stapled, some had been folded in half and some had printing on both sides, the ES-865 flew through the entire stack in less than 30 seconds with no feed issues and very good image quality on both front and back of the page. It really does bring a smile to your face knowing you can get scan huge piles of documents in just minutes. The default image quality (200dpi) on high speed is certainly good enough for any document archiving, but you can choose a lower speed with higher quality should you need it all the way up to 1200dpi. The Epson ScanSmart software is fast and easy to use, it lets you control most of the settings for the scanner and helps get your work done quickly. The only thing I would change would be to make the screen on the scanner a bit larger as it makes it a bit difficult to go through the on-screen settings, but as most of this can be controlled by the software anyway it is not a big issue at all. Overall, this is a fantastic document scanner (receipts and photos too!) and I am truly impressed with the quality and speed it delivers and would recommend this to anyone that needs to do significant amounts of document scanning or archiving. I love this scanner!

When I received and opened the box, I was surprised at how light and small it is. This is great since you are able to move it around, if needed, and it does not take up a lot of space on your desk. Taking it out of the box was easy, especially since it is so light. I don’t mean light as in flimsy, I mean that in weight, and it does feel quite durable. The quick start guide was great! It was so simple and walked me through the steps of setting it up. The setup was fairly quick, the only thing that took a while, I would say about 20 minutes or so, was downloading the software. I then went on to test it out. Boy, this thing is quick! I was so surprised. I have never used a scanner that was this fast. The page shoots right out in about a second and your scanned page is immediately on your screen. I then went on to try a double sided document. I was thinking I would need to turn it over, making sure it was the correct way so it didn’t end up upside down on the screen (a common problem I have had with other scanners in the past), but to my surprise, I looked up on the screen an both sides we already done in one scan! In order to try something besides a regular sheet of paper, I took out an old box of photos that I do not have any digital copies of. I adjusted the paper tray to the size of the photo and clicked the button. It scanned perfectly and also scans the other side of the photo. I saw on the computer screen that you can turn this option off, but I decided to keep it on, since most of my photos have names and dates and other important information on the back. How neat that you have the option to do this and can save all your important photo information. I plan on doing more old photos so that I can share online with friends and family, and also have plans to save a lot of digital copies of documents so that I can clear some clutter. I can’t wait to use it some more. It is also simple enough that my 9-year-old daughter can use it, and she is enjoying helping me with the photos. Awesome little scanner

I was quite surprised when I opened the box and found this very small form factor Epson ES-865 scanner and rightfully so since having a scanner that doesn't take up a ton of desk space is really awesome. Once opened it came with everything needed to get started quickly. In the box were the scanner, power block, printer cable, and quick start guide. It took me about five minutes to set up and start the software install. Once the software was installed I tested the scanner and it's so quick that if you are not looking you will miss the quickness in which is scans. Once I scanned I checked out the quality of the scans and I will say it is superb in capturing the document in the true form right out the box at 200 DPI. You can of course change your DPI and other settings in the app to get better quality of scans to your liking but I was happy with the standard settings. The application itself is good but the issue is that there are two different scanning apps under the Epson folder for this device, Scan Smart for when you hit the scan button on the scanner, and Scan 2 from the OS for scanning. I find that Scan 2 gives you more option before scanning to choose what your scanning. Other than that they are easy to use and not to complicated. Would I recommend this scanner to people? Yes, I would since this is the fastest, and smallest scanner I have used in a long time for home use, and the ease of use and quality makes it a great option for people who scan a lot or for a home-based business. I have seen smaller scanners with clients in the IT field but are usually not this fast or the image quality is ok at best. I would definitely say that this workforce scanner is amazing it is super fast and very effective and efficient. What I really like about it was from the beginning I thought it was very easy to set up and followed the directions. It worked right away without having to research or do anything other than just set up. I also like the fact that the size is perfect for my small Home Office. It's very compact but powerful exactly what I needed for working from home. I definitely feel like it's very simple to use and gets the job done with little effort. One of the really cool things about it is that it's able to do double sided in a single pass meaning that you can scan both sides easily and also very quickly. But I also think it's great for saving documents to my computer or scanning things into my computer to save for later. It also works really well with word which is super convenient since I use word documents and word files all the time period I would definitely recommend for a few reasons one being the size it's super compacts great for small spaces plus it integrates really well with technology and is super fast at getting the job done. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-865 Color Duplex Document scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

I am beyond pleased with using this Epson workforce color duplex document scanner. Unpacking and set up was very easy, the scanner itself is actually surprisingly light weight with small, non bulky cords. The given instructions made downloading the software very simple and installation was quick. Setting controls with the full color LCD screen makes scanning documents simple and worry free. I absolutely love how it scans both sides at the same time, saving time and giving beautiful results. The color from document to scan is just as vibrant and and full of pixels, leaving your saved files easy to manage, edit, save, and or send to others. I have been using this Epson scanner to scan my homeschool worksheets, art work, and documents for schooling at the end of each learning period (monthly). This makes keeping track of each years school work and progress, so much easier and less pile up of paperwork. I would highly recommend this product, great quality with fantastic results for both home and office use. Excellent Business & Home Office Scanner

This is a very versatile and very fast document scanner, perfect for the small business or home office. It is compact, well-constructed, and performs very well. Setup is very easy, unboxing only takes a few minutes. Simply attach the feed tray and remove the shipping tape that prevents pieces from moving and potentially being damaged in shipping. The scanner is packaged securely and there were clear instructions for unboxing and setup as soon as you open the box. Loading the software is also very easy, the download and installation completed without any issues on my Windows 10 laptop. Once installed, connect the scanner's USB cable and power it up, and you're ready to scan. The scanner itself is excellent. I was skeptical that it could perform as advertised in such a small device -- but I was pleasantly surprised. This scanner is amazingly FAST and produces very high-quality scans for documents with text, images, and mixed content in both color and black & white. I have passed nearly 1000 sheets through the scanner in a short week of ownership and it has not jammed or misfed a single time, nor have I had any issues with misaligned pages, which is not uncommon for auto-feed scanners. It scans single and double-sided (duplex) at blazing speeds and accuracy. The input tray holds between 50 and 100 sheets of standard paper, depending on the paper weight. Two software utilities are included, Scan 2 and ScanSmart. The Scan 2 is more of a basic scan utility that allows you to select a variety of settings on the scanner. The ScanSmart software is a bit more user-friendly and is great for larger scanning jobs and for saving scans to Word format with OCR. My initial reaction was that I was disappointed that the scanner did not support WiFi. At this price point, it seems like that should be a given. However, after doing some research and thinking about it, I believe that the reason that WiFi is not supported is simple: WiFi speeds are not fast enough to keep up with how fast this scanner can scan pages. USB 3.0 provides 5 Gbit/s bandwidth, and the vast majority of WiFi routers and laptops out there supporting 802.11ac are going to max out at less than 1 Gbit/s at best. If you look at the competing scanners that do include WiFi, their scan speeds are nowhere near as fast as this scanner. It was a necessary trade-off. It might have been nice to include WiFi with the caveat that scan speeds would be drastically reduced, so that for occasions when we don't need the ultimate speed we can have the convenience of WiFi, but I'm sure that would have resulted in a lot of people calling customer support and posting bad reviews if they didn't understand the limitations of using the scanner over WiFi. So for that, I totally understand why they chose to not include WiFi on this scanner. Overall I am very impressed with this scanner, it is perfect for my home office business uses. Fast Scanner but lacks Wireless Scanning Ability

My initial impression of this scanner is that it is built really well. The scanner itself weighs a few pounds and feels built pretty solid. Setting up the scan is fairly easy. The physical part of setting up the scanner is really easy. The difficult part is the downloading and installing the drivers onto my computer. I am using a PC with Windows 10. My first attempt in installing the driver caused my whole computer to freeze so I had to do a force restart. When my computer restarted, I was able to reinstall the driver which this time it worked with no problems. This is one of the reasons why I give this product only 4 stars out of 5 stars. The scanner software is very easy to use once installed. You add your document to your scanner and you can initiate the scanning from your computer which is really nice or you can initiate it from the actual scanner. For the price point, I am very surprised that this scanner does not have the ability to do wireless scanning. This scanner does not have the ability to be wireless and can not connect to your wifi which really sucks because either I have to have the scanner on my desk by my computer or I have to have a really long usb cable for the scanner. A positive and cool thing about this scanner is that it scans super quick and I am super impressed with its ability to scan both sides of a document at once and can do it very quickly. If you have a ton of documents to scan, this scanner will make your life so much easier. You can also scan all sizes of papers from regular sheets or paper to receipts. It is so easy to use once it is set up. This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-865 Color Duplex Document scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

I am really impressed with the quality and speed that this scanner provides. It scans both sides of the documents with a single pass, it saves time not having to scan them individually. This is very easy to set up and use, the driver that is included with this allows it to work smoothly with any software. The size of the scanner is great, perfect size to move around to wherever it's needed! I love that I am able to upgrade to the accounting edition. I am very unorganized, so the upgrade helps me keep all my important receipts, papers, and even pictures organized and easily accessible. Now that I have used this scanner, I don't know how I managed without it! Superb Performance & Quality Images!

This review is for the Epson WorkForce ES-865 Color Duplex Document Scanner. This document scanner is a compact high-volume scanner with excellent performance and quality results. The scanner has performed very well and the initial setup was simple. It is important to note that the scanner does not come with any media in the packaging for the installation so the instructions do require you to download the software from Epson’s support website. Once you have begun the installation it takes all but a matter of minutes depending on your internet download speed. The installation of the software and drivers is rather simple which includes a installation wizard that will guide you through the process. During the installation of the software you will be prompted to connect the scanner via USB and once connected the program will auto-detect the scanner for first time use. The scanner packaging is simple and compact. The packaging includes the WorkForce ES-865 Color Duplex Document scanner, Auto-document Feeder Tray (ADF), 5FT SuperSpeed USB 3.0 cable, and AC adapter with power cable. The packaging also includes the basic “Start Here” documentation which provides the initial setup instructions to follow. While using this scanner I was very impressed with the ease of use and the speed at which it can produce high quality scans. I tested the performance of the scanners ability and it exceeded my expectations. I have not personally owned a scanner with this kind of performance before. This little scanner is a speed demon and I was able to scan 20 pages of documentation in less than 20 seconds. The ScanSmart software is user friendly and allows you to adjust the scanned documents with ease including rotating & cropping. The included TWAIN driver provides excellent compatibility with numerous software applications including but not limited to Scan to Email function, Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneDrive. You of course have the ability to save the scanned images directly to your local hard drive in industry standard file type formats such as PDF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and BMP. Overall I am impressed with this document scanner and the included software. Its super easy to use and because of its small size (Width 11”, Depth 8”, Height 9”) it does not take up a bunch of work space on your desk. The printer is also fairly light, weighing in at 7.8lbs (without AC Adapter/cord). I did also try to scan some color photos and it worked just as good with the photos as it did with the text documents. The quality of the resolution on the images is superb and they look great. After using this scanner I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a scanner that is fast and produces high quality images. Great Hardware, fast and accurate scanner

This Epson DS-865 is blazing fast and the OCR results are among the best I've seen. I've used many different model scanners at work and this model competes with more expensive models in those terms of performance. It scans at over 60 pages per minute (double that if double-sided) and has a high duty cycle rating of 7,000 page a day, these two specs would make this an ideal workhorse for businesses. The feeder holds up to 100 pages and is flexible in use. This model has TWAIN support which allows you the ability to use other scanning software if you chose to. I tested the TWAIN support with 3rd party scanning software and it worked well with no problems. But when it came to OCR accuracy the Epson software with it's built-in OCR support or integration could not be beat so I stuck with using the bundled Epson ScanSmart software. The OCR from the Epson software was much quicker as well. Image quality is very good and resolution maxes out at 1200dpi. The Epson SmartScan software is straightforward and easy to use, but it is a bit light on advanced features and settings. The software could be a bit more robust with easier/quicker access to scan quality settings. It has buttons to allow for attachment to email, uploads to cloud hosts like Google drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Evernote, Print, and saving to MS Office file formats. The Invoice/Receipt Management features unfortunately requires a paid one-time upgrade. Unfortunately this model is missing network connectivity, there is no Ethernet or Wi-Fi support. This limits the versatility of the scanner and forces you to place it at a desk next to a desktop or laptop. I would've liked to bring it into the living room and spend an afternoon scanning mail and documents in front of the TV. In the office it could've have been set up near the front reception counter to quickly scan documents from clients. Since there is no network connectivity, there is no scan to smartphone or tablet support. Another negative is the lack of support for user-defined jobs through the scanner menu and interface. I've used scanners in the past where you could set up pre-defined locations and folders to scan to and with different scan settings accessible from the scanner itself and I feel that is an important feature for businesses. There is no "One-touch" scanning either which several competitors offer. When you press the SCAN button on this scanner it starts up the Epson Scansmart software on the connected PC and you have to continue the scanning process there, there is no way to set a default save location and have files automatically named and saved without PC intervention. Scanning at the very minimum requires 3 button presses or clicks; Scan button on the scanner, click on "Save" in scanning software to bring up the Save screen, then another click on "Save" to save the file. This was a disappointment after using other brands and models that offer that time-saving feature. The build quality of the scanner is solid with good quality rigid plastics with minimal flex and good fit of components. The rollers and other consumable parts have an estimated lifetime of 200,000 scans and replacement parts are available. The footprint is small and compact and that helps with placement and positioning on the desk. The feeder and output trays are versatile and easy to manipulate for different paper sizes. I've scanned a few hundred pages a day so far without a hiccup or paper jam, the high volume reliability is impressive. The existing features and functionality may be adequate and enough for typical home users or less demanding offices with straightforward scan jobs, but this excellent hardware would really benefit from software updates that add features to improve ease of use, versatility, and one touch scanning that advanced users want. If you do not need more advanced features and customization and only need a fast, accurate, and reliable scanner that does it's job then this model would be great and recommended. The excellent OCR accuracy and fast scanning speeds certainly make this a terrific scanner for most users. I am SO happy with this scanner so far! First things first, the quality of this scanner is amazing. And, it's durable too! This scanner is built so well that I don't feel like I'm going to break it when I use it. It also uses the best software for a scanner, which makes it much easier to use. The first thing you are going to want to do, is plug in the scanner and then download the drivers from the internet, onto your computer. It is super easy to download the drivers, and the instructions that come with the scanner give you step by step instructions on how to do it. Once that's done, you plug in the USB cable and that completes the set up, and you are ready to use the scanner! Using this scanner has been a breeze too! It's SO easy to use. You just put the document you want into the scanner, press the scan button and VOILA! This scanner is also VERY fast! I can't believe how fast it scans a document! I've never had a scanner that can scan in 1 second. It shoots the document right through, and then the scanned document pops up on your computer screen instantly. You can also use this scanner to create PDF and editable excel or word files. I have never seen a scanner that can do that, so that was a nice bonus for me! This scanner can scan up to 100 pages at a time too, which is a LOT. It is lightning quick and intuitive. Another thing about this scanner that I love, is how easy it is to navigate. The buttons are super easy to use and respond fast. The LCD screen is also nice and each option on the screen is labeled clearly so it's easy to know what option you are using. There are a lot of buttons but each one is labeled so you don't get confused as to what they do. It's just a really well laid out scanner!! Once you are done using the scanner, you can just power it off until next time, or leave it on whatever you want to do! It boots up really quick too which is also really nice. All in all, I LOVE this scanner and don't have enough great things to say about it! If you are someone who is looking for a GREAT professional/personal scanner, this one is perfect! You will not regret trying it, so give it a shot!!!! This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-865 Color Duplex Document scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

When I first received the Epson ES-865 scanner, I was impressed that it has such a small footprint for such a workhorse of a machine. I unpacked the scanner and used the quick guide included to set it up. Super simple, straightforward and easy to understand. I was able to download and install the software from the website successfully and install it without incident. Did the test scan and was truly blown away at the result. I then decided to scan some double sided magazine pages I had been working on with my previous scanner to get some comparison. I was very impressed with how quickly it pulled the multiple, double sided, glossy pages through the auto feeder so fast and the scans showed up on my computer screen instantly. I then decided to mess with the settings and get some idea of just how high of a resolution I could scan on some old photos I want to digitize. My photo scans came out beautiful and I was able to play with them in photoshop because of the high resolution scan. My next job was to scan multiple pages at the same time since this is the primary reason I need this scanner. I put 56 double sided pages and the scanning was complete in less than 60 seconds! You can officially color me impressed. I have always been a loyal Epson fan for many, decades and this product did not disappoint me. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-865 Color Duplex Document scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

This high quality scanner is very user friendly and was ready to go in fifteen minutes right out of the box after downloading and installing the necessary online driver software. The product arrived tight and securely packed, which included easy to follow directions, the power cord, and usb cable to connect to a laptop or desktop computer's usb port. I have been using this scanner for close to a week and I am highly impressed by the scanner's durable design, portability, and especially the speed and accuracy that the Epson WorkForce ES-865 Color Duplex Document Scanner is able to scan duplex (front and back) documents without having any jamming issues and the tray can hold up to 100 standard sized sheets of paper! I especially like that there are several options available on how to store and save completed scans, such as using Dropbox, Google Drive, Word, Excel, attaching to emails, print, or even sending to OneDrive. I noticed that the scanner did not have any Wi-Fi capabilities, but for the purposes for which I use this scanner, I think by having Wi-Fi ability possibly would've slowed down the scanner's speed. I highly recommend this scanner for the office or home business that needs a high rate of scanning speed with clear, high quality duplex sided scans. The Epson WorkForce ES-865 is small but mighty for an at home scanner. You can easily set this up following the provided instructions in a matter of minutes. This scanner is compact but it gets the job done for sure. It scans at a quick pace and produces a very high quality picture in no time. I use mine mainly for work since I am now working mainly remotely now due to the pandemic and it has been a godsend. I have attached to emails to co-workers and I have had no issues and best of all no complaints. The scanner defaults to 200 dpi image but you can adjust this to your liking as well. The software you install, Epson ScanSmart is easy to learn so you can become better acquainted with your scanner so you can use it for more things such as a document archiver to reduce your paper in your home. It also has the capabilities to scan on both sides as well. All in all I am very happy with the Epson WorkForce ES-865 Color Scanner in my home office. This is a great addition to my Epson printer. It gets the job done and it hasn't let me down. This is a review for the Epson Workforce ES-865 Color Duplex Document scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

If you are looking for a way to quickly scan numerous documents, then the ES-865 Color Duplex Scanner is the absolute best on the market. I've owned other scanners and this is absolutely beyond fast. The ES-865 can scan 65 ppm at 300 dpi and can scan both sides in a single pass. Fully load the document feeder (100 pages) and then they are scanned in less than 2 minutes. You're able to scan business cards and ID cards. It also has a Slow Speed Mode for delicate scans. This a great addition for virtual schooling as it saves time by not having to take a picture of the work and then submit it. Easily scan and post. Time saver equals happy Dad! Epson has surpassed what I would have expected in a fast document scanner. It also has double-feed detection and Skew Correction to help with misfeeds. Output resolution from 50 to 1200 dpi. Small footprint scanner fits easily on my desk. Also handles most paper sizes for great quality scanning. It includes a LCD front panel with push buttons for operation. This es-865 scanner is so easy to use. I found out from unboxing to set up and use. Once out if the box you plus 2 clrds together then 1 end into the back of the scanner and the other into the outlet. It also has a cord to go from the scanner to the computer. The easy set up guide that is included walk you through the simple steps. 1st you need to go to the website to download the program. Answer a few questions and your all set. You pull the top tray and then the bottom out. Once everything is set up and install it is time to use it. You load the papers at the top and hit the scan button. They shot throught and pop up on the computer. You can then edit/rotate, name and save to the appropriate folder. This scanner is nice quick, quiet and can scan color or black and white print/pictures. This scanner can scan both sides at once and up to 65 pages per minute which eliminates flipping and rescanning. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce ES-865 Color Duplex Document scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

I love it! It came in a small box and as soon as you open it, it tells you how to pull it out or remove it from the box to avoid damage. At first look you can see its quite small, which In my opnion its great as it doesnt take much space in your office. Setting it up was rather simple and quick. The instructions are very clear. All the programs are downloaded directly from website to your computer, no disc needed. The installation was quite fast and was able to scan my first document with no problems at all. You have the choice to adjust it to the size in width of your document to avoid it from moving and causing a paper jam. All in all, I think its a great scanner. Simple and very user friendly.
