This printer does a fantastic job of printing faster than any printer I've had & does it very crisp and clear in both B&W and Color - also I love how cheap the ink bottles are compared to cartridges and how much longer the ink lasts

Broken out of box, poor support from Epson

Item arrived in good physical condition. After initial setup, I tried to configure scan-to-email options via the web admin interface. Noticed that the printer had an available firmware update, and downloaded/installed it. The email server options were no longer available, which I suspect is a bug. The web configuration page with the missing "email server" category under "Wifi/Network Settings" and should be between "Services" and "LDAP Server" on the left-hand side of the page is posted with this review.
Contacted Epson support about it and it was the worst hour of customer service support I've ever experienced in my life. Rude employees, asking nonsensical questions not related to the issue or hardware, and got hung up on for my trouble after they confirmed that they can recreate the issue on their end. No resolution. I have no choice but to return the product to Best Buy and look at other wide-format printing options.
Buyer beware, Epson products aren't worth the paper your receipt is printed on.

The unboxing: The printer arrived two days ago in a bulky brown box that was wheeled in with a dolly. When I opened it, it was neatly packaged in Styrofoam that protected the top and bottom from shipping impact. After removing the Styrofoam, I found that this packaging material held the ink bottles, installation instructions and the power cord. The unit was wrapped in protective plastic that was easy to remove. There were little pieces of blue tape in several places that were easy to see and remove. The tape kept any moving parts from shifting during shipping. When I took everything apart and finally placed the printer (which required help from my husband because it is pretty heavy) in my office, the unit fit very easily and securely on top of the existing printer cabinet I had. Not as bulky as I feared it would be when the box arrived.
Initial setup: I followed the instructions on the pamphlet which were numbered and easy to understand. Filling the ink was so cool! I liked how the plugs had a resting place during fill so that they didn't get dirty or misplaced during filling. I squeezed the black ink in pretty quickly so it bubbled up which made it so the whole bottle wouldn't fit the first time. I let the bubbles settle and then squeezed a little slower the second time and watching the reservoir fill up was really neat. Never again will I have to question whether I have ink or not. I learned from my initial experience and filled the other colors more slowly. All the ink from the bottles fit in the tanks and right up to the visible fill line. I then connected the power cord and waited for the magic to happen. The LCD touch screen lit up and gave me instructions that were also easy to follow. I was able to update the date and time and set my language settings. I then pressed the start button as instructed and waited for my test page.
Alas, I knew everything was going too smooth. I got a paper jam error message despite not having put any paper in yet. I looked into the unit to make sure I had not missed any blue pieces of tape and then followed the un-jam instructions showing on the screen. I then moved the printer head from the starting right position over to the left and when it wouldn't slide, I noticed that there was a flat cable that had been dislodged (probably during shipping) that was blocking the way. I moved this cable over and voila, the unit was in perfect working order! I then popped the CD into my PC and was expecting all kinds of instructions on how to set my printer up to print on command. Low and behold, the CD and on-line update did EVERYTHING for me. I barely had to select two options before I was ready to print and scan and fax and do all the wonderful things this machine could do for me. I also was issued an e-mail address so that if I was across town and wanted to print something, it would be waiting for me when I got back to the office. I didn't have to be in the same building as the printer to get it to do my work for me! I can easily use any device (Android phone, Fire tablet, and PC) connected to my WiFi network to print from as well as e-mail items from other computers and networks.
The use: The printing was fast and crisp. The colors did not run together and the pages were dry to the touch immediately after ejection. The pages also did not come out curved like my other printer did so taping them to the walls or gluing them together is easier now. I also like how I can command it to scan to any device hooked up to the network from the on-board touch screen. I can also scan to the web or my Google account and have someone in another place access the scan. No need for faxing anymore! The top load scanner works smoothly and also does double sided scans and copies without taking an excessive amount of time to process. Since the initial set up, I have not had a single jam issue with the machine and I am almost a whole ream in.
Rating: I for sure award this machine 5 stars. Not only is it a huge upgrade from what I had before (and not that big of a price difference either), it is operating completely as advertised. I am more productive now in the office which saves me time and money and will pay for itself in ink savings versus the cost of replacement toner in no time at all.
One week Update: I have been using the printer almost daily for a full week now. The printer just keeps amazing me. Printers stay with us for years. I was hesitant about this printer because the price tag is a bit steep and I didn't think I needed all the options but man am I glad I have them now! I look at it as someone who drives a manual transmission and never wanted to switch to automatic... until they did! . It was only a couple hundred more than what I paid for my Samsung wireless printer and yet this one does so much more and so much faster than the other one. It's like I'm my own print shop! The ink in this machine is already lasting me longer than my toner was and the machine comes with an extra refill so I'm set for the next 2 years. And I have still not received any jams since the initial set up. If I have any negative or unexpected experiences, I will update my review but so far so good!

Excellent All-in-One Printer

Epson has created the best All-in-One printer that I have ever used with the Workforce ET-16500. It is perfect for home and small business use. The feature that I like best is that you never have to change cartridges. All you do is fill the eco-tanks up from the included bottles and it will print 11,000 pages. Then you only need to buy more bottles of ink to refill approximately one a year. Enough ink is included with the printer to last the average user two years! That is equal to 50 cartridges on other printers! The cost of the bottles of ink is comparable or less costly the cartridges for other printers that only last 1000 pages or less. This printer has finally solved the problem of always running out of ink and has made owning an inkjet printer truly affordable. The initial cost of the printer is high, however, you will soon recover this cost in the savings of not having to buy expensive ink cartridges all the time.
The features I like best on this printer:
- two high capacity paper trays that hold a wide variety of sizes and types of paper up to 11 x14 paper and a single sheet feeder on the back that can take 13x19 paper
- two sided printing and copying
- high quality flatbed scanner with ADF that can scan up to 11 x 17
- laser quality black text and photo quality color prints
- extremely fast printing - the fastest inkjet printer that I have ever used
- the color touch screen on the printer makes setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting easy
- ability to print and scan from your android or IOS devices, google cloud, and Epson connect gives your printer an email address
Epson has created a beautiful and well designed printer with the ET-16500. It is a pleasure to use and I think it has been designed to last a long time.

Perfect for business or students.

The Epson ET-16500 EcoTank is perfect for businesses or students that do a lot of printing, and more for those that do printing of varying sizes. The multiple paper trays make it easy to change sizes and the large ink reservoirs make printing in color way less stressful than a standard cartridge printer would. Knowing how large the tanks are means never worrying that you will run out of ink in the middle of a project.
Setup was simple, just following the setup handout that came with the system. It is rather large, so you will need to have a sturdy table to hold the unit. Filling the ink tanks was a breeze, and it comes with two bottles of each color, giving you 11,000 black and white or 8500 color pages before buying refills, which are rather economical in comparison to cartridge printers. Scanning was fast, and crystal clear, saving multiple page scans to a single pdf file was a life saver. The ability to email a document to printer from anywhere to come home and have it printed and waiting for you is probably my favorite feature.

Excellent printer that does it ALL

First of all, it was very easy to install it. Instructions are very clear and simple, I didn't have any problems at all and it to me about 30 minutes to setup up the printer and fill in ink tanks. We have a small home business and it is perfect for us, because this printer does it all! You can even print up to 13x19 size documents, which I usually had to go to the printing office to do it. And I love that it has two paper trays, so you can have two different format papers loaded in the printer.
At first, I was not sure how the color prints will look, because I never had ink printers before, but they turn out to be amazing. The pictures are clear and bright and it is very efficient and saves you a lot of money, as it can last for up to 10 000 black or 11 000 color pages! Scanning was very easy, fast and scanned document turned out to be very high quality and super clear.
To sum up, I love this printer, which does all the work that you can imagine and it looks amazing too.

Great printer at first but developed a leak

Setup was straight forward, I was happy with its preformence, it is big you need a lot of desk space make sure it can handle 60 lbs!
Now the bad it developed a leak from I believe the black tank ink was coming out from under the printer, I had to move it outside to protect my carpet, if I didn't go into my office when I did my carpet would have been ruined. I am sure this was a fluke so if you buy one try putting the plastic it's wrapped in under it for a few days until you are sure it's not leaking as a precaution.

This is a review for the Epson ET-16500 EcoTank that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.
So far, I'm really loving using my Epson ET-16500. I've been using black and white laser printers for years since I've always felt like inkjet printer ink was far too expensive. That has all changed with the introduction of Epson's EcoTank printers. The ink is extremely affordable and last a long time. It's probably less than it cost to buy cartridges for a budget printer and the ink last many times longer in the Epson EcoTank printers. You get two sets of bottles in the box which is probably enough to last most homes or offices up to two years. The first set of bottles will be very slightly depleted by the initial charging process.
As mentioned above you get two sets of refills. You only fill with the first set so you can save the other set back for when each tank needs refilled. The filling process can be messing. I recommend either wearing gloves while filling them or if not available at least put a plastic bag over your hands. You should also put a piece of paper or bag under the area where you are filling the tanks. The bottles have foil covers on them that you have to remove and it's very easy to transfer ink from the foil to your hands when removing them. When emptying the bottles into the tanks they may gurgle and splatter a little also which is way you should really keep your hands and desk covered. Overall, it's super quick and easy to refill the tanks so please don't let this aspect scare you away.
The printer features many connectivity options. It supports both Wi-Fi and Ethernet as well as USB connectivity. There is a memory card reader and a front USB port for plugging cameras, other devices, or thumb drives directly into. You can scan directly to external storage. There is a RJ-45 port for faxing.
There is a nice large and nice quality touchscreen. This allows you to very easily change various functions on the printer and print directly from your external storage or devices.
There are two paper cassettes and a rear paper feeder. The two cassettes have covers so the paper doesn't get dusty or anything. Each cassette holds 250 sheets of plain paper or 10 envelopes. The rear tray is single sheet feet only and can feed card-stock up to 68lbs. The cassettes extend out and can hold up to 13x19" paper.
There is an automatic document feeder for the scanner. It can support up to 11x17" paper. The scanning and copying function is quick and works great. I haven't had any issues with it.
This is such a versatile printer. I'm using it for basically everything. When I discovered you can print directly to 13x19" paper I was extremely happy. This is a wonderful size to print family tree charts and is really invaluably to someone that frequently does that type of research.
I've already printed many photos and the quality is excellent. It prints photos even large ones very quickly. I've been using Epson's Matte Photo paper and it looking so high quality and like it came out of a photo lab.
If you are like me and frequently use you mobile devices and want to print there are decent options for iOS users. I haven't used an Android device yet. The Epson iPrint app is pretty good. It is a little slow an clunky when working with photos even on my iPad Pro. Although the website says there is support for Apple Airprint it doesn't appear the printer actually supports it yet. There is also no mention of it in the manual. This means you are pretty much stuck using Epson's app to print. I hope support is added for it in the future. You can also set up an Epson service that gives the printer its own email address. You just attach a file or photo to the email and the printer will automatically print it out. You initially get a random email address but you can set up a custom address. You can also set it to only print from certain addresses.
I really love the large amount of options you have as far as the size of papers you can print to. It's also a huge time saver since you can load 250 sheets of in each tray even different sizes in each. I currently have standard letter paper loaded in one and 13x19" in the other. The amount of ink you get with the printer is a huge value and it's so cheap to purchase refills. The cost per sheet is about as low as you can get. Overall, this is an amazing and versatile printer and I highly recommend it.

My opinion is mostly Positive!
The Positive!
It comes with lots of Ink out of the Box, even the starter bottles are full unlike some of the starter cartridges included with some new printers.
It seems well built for light to medium office environments,.
I have used it a week or so now and have had no jams with any paper path,.
I The Ink is fairly priced when time comes to purchase more $20.00 for a black bottle and $13.00 for each color at Epson's online store.
Now the Negative.
It seems a bit slow almost like its being careful not to mess up while copying and printing sometimes? I have tested different settings but none seem to let it print at advertised speeds, I have issues using a Mobile device to print it wont let me Q up more than one document at a time (I get Printer not available until the current doc is done), This could be bad if the ink is put in the wrong tanks (mixing colors) there is a tab to either lock or put some kind of tie on the Ink door probably to prevent the ink from being tampered by unauthorized uninformed persons,.

I love this printer! I'd been putting off making an investment in a good quality printer, and kept on regretting it every time I'd buy a "cheapie". This printer was worth every penny, and it's making my life alot easier with my home businesses. It's reliable, easy to use, and if it jams (my fault when it jams), it's very easy to open to free it up. It's also fast!

I do a great deal of printing during the holidays and was constantly having to run to the store to purchase more ink! Over the last couple of months I've done a lot of printing and just had to refill the black ink tank. I also add photo's in my project's so this printer works really great for me. The only thing I must say is - I have not printed 10,000 pages which the company states it will do before having to fill the above mentioned tank.- but it was a pleasure to not have to run to the store and get more ink (it comes with a 2 year (maybe) supply.

I've had to a couple of months. It's great for general printing and the eco tanks are hardly down after printing maybe 400 pages. I have printed 5x7 photos and its good. I still want to print some 13x19 photos. It prints two sided after figuring it out except I can't get it to print a PDF document two sided. It does one side then have to feed it back. It does even or odd pages and reverse order. Again I love the tanks even though the printer is pricy to start with. Over time it will pay back.

It did not come with the manual or Disk, so I had to download that from Epson, and it was a different download for each windows version. Honestly probably best to download the drivers anyway to get the latest verses. However, once it was setup, it has been working great. It prints 2 sided on 11x17 card stock 65lb from the cassette #2. It has a USB slot and SD card slot that you can put a very small 1g drive into and share files between your computers, or print from. Only complaint I have is when you put paper in the rear single sheet rack, you have to specifically tell the computer to print on that paper, or it will eject that paper, and then print on whatever paper is in cassette #1. I am printing from one computer using a USB cable and 4 other computers using the wired network.

Hard to Clean

I am on my second ET-16500. The first was purchased two years ago. Complained that the nozzle check wouldn't come clean and leaving advancing lines. Epson sent out a second printer tried to send in first one but never received a shipping label. Then I was charged for the second printer without my knowledge a few months later. Didn't catch the charge in time. NOT HAPPY with this product at all. Now the replacement printer is less than a year old and doing the same thing. Only reason why I bought was spending a lot of money on cartridges. As well as printing on large paper (12x18). I use this to print signs and bulletin boards used around the school I teach in. But savings are lost because of constant cleaning. Attached is a recent photo of a print after several cleanings and a power wash.
