Powerful beast of a machine works well in my house
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Originally having a bad experience back in the 90’s with Epson printers, I was always an HP fan and only purchased HP printers. Unfortunately, every single HP printer I’ve owned during the last 8 years has broken down prematurely or suffered from unrepairable print quality degradation. I was offered an opportunity to beta test an Epson WF4730, and I’m very impressed! It took me about 15 minutes to take it out of the box, set it up on my network, and download / install the latest firmware. My first order of business was to connect it to my wireless network and configure scanning to email, a feature I heavily rely on. I was happy to notice a feature that my old printer didn’t have; the ability to create contact groups so I can scan and send documents to multiple people at once rather than having to select each contact one at a time like I had to on my old HP printer; this is a huge time-saver. There is a bug when back-spacing and correcting names as you create contacts which threw me off, that needs to be fixed so minus one star for that. If/when that gets fixed, I’ll update my review and rating. My next step was to try printing documents from my cell, a task which wasn’t as easy as it should have been with my last printer. The Epson WF4730 makes this task very simple, I was able to print directly from my Galaxy S8 Plus just by tapping it against the printer. My phone immediately detected the printer, downloaded the necessary drivers, and I printed a color photo from my album on regular paper. I couldn’t believe how quickly the printer was able to print a full-page color photo! The speed is blazing on this thing, it only took a few seconds with bright and vivid colors. I didn’t realize how bad the quality was of the printouts from my previous printer until I saw printouts from this one. As a professional IT engineer, I appreciate the configurability of this printer. It requires only a quick basic setup for the average person to start using all the features, but allows a very granular advanced configuration for those who desire it or have advanced needs. Configuring and using faxing is a breeze, it’s nice to know I have the ability when the rare occasion arrives when I’ll need it; it isn’t often but it does happen. Aesthetically, this printer looks nice and modern, and feels solid. It has two paper trays which is great if you want to store two different types or sizes of paper, and the default tray options are easily configurable. Having the built-in duplexer is huge, as I prefer to print on both sides of the paper to save paper wherever possible. Overall, I’m very happy with the quality, speed, and color accuracy of this printer. The only issue I had with my testing is the one bug concerning the entering of names into the address book and using the backspace key to correct mistakes, other than that I can’t find one single flaw. It’s easy to use, set up, and even my wife has no problems using it. This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Mega Beast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first thought when I opened the box was about how big this beast is. You should definitely pay attention to the physical dimensions of this printer before purchasing. Luckily, I was replacing a similarly sized machien and it wasn't a real issue. Setup was a breeze. I'm sure I didn't have to do it this way, but I followed the directions step by step. Within minutes, I was connected via WiFi and able to print from all of my devices. The speed and clarity of printing was impressive. I'm not one for catch phrases, but I totally understand what Epson means by "Beyond Laser". I don't have any photo paper handy, but images on standard paper were still beautiful as well. Scanning was fast as well, and having a large tray that can scan multiple documents was a must for me. I was able to drop in a stack of papers, click a few buttons and walk away. The price tag is my only concern. While I use my office printer with great regularity, it's a bit pricey for my budget. Great all around printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer is basically a printer that functions as an all around machine and then still offers high end specs and functions (wi-fi printing, color and printing speed/functions better than that of a laser printer). The box came nicely shipped and has everything you need, with everyone these days having a usb cable at home. My previous printer (HP) had errors connecting to my laptop and would also not sync up correctly with different cartridges. Very easy to set up in a few minutes even for those who aren't good with tech. Would recommend this for anyone, including those with a small private in home office or even a larger corporate office as the speed and function of this is unmatched for the pricepoint and company name. This also comes with printer ink specific to this printer, enough for 500 sheets! The printer itself is larger than others but that was not a negative for me and not enough to take a star off. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

A seamless, competent printer for the budget
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hadn’t setup a printer in many years, so I was not looking forward to setting this up (wireless printers were always a pain). Fortunately, technology has evolved quite a bit and Epson did a good job with this printer. I was ready to go in ~10 minutes, 5 of which were necessary while the machine calibrated itself. Pros: - little time/effort required to get up and running - speedy, quality printing & scanning - dead simple mobile printing Cons: - occasionally ambiguous system menus/lights - questionable build quality for scan tray hinge & paper trays - doesn’t include any sample paper (photo, etc.) in the box (!) Scanning and printing were pretty straightforward – fast, and of quality in both cases. For this price point, the printer seemed very feature rich in these areas – even offering the ability to scan to a file store or email (SMTP server setup required) and support for AirPrint and Cloud Print (this is hugely convenient – I don’t know that I’d buy a printer without this now). I would’ve expected a packet of different test papers to get started (showcasing the photo capabilities, etc.) but they were suspiciously absent from the box. The printer wasn’t particularly quiet, but I don’t think it’d wake anyone up during late night prints, either. While the device feels solid and of quality in some places (ink cartridge area, the folding screen/control area) it was rather particular in others. The top paper tray seems like you’re forcing it in to the point where you question whether you’ve aligned it properly or pulled it out too far (it definitely doesn’t have that “on rails” slide in/out feel). Additionally, the hinges that allow you to lift the scan tray (perhaps designed this way to accommodate large item scanning?) feel a little cheap and, due to its own heft, allows the top lid to flex a little when raising it from either side. I was impressed with the ease of setup, and enjoyed using the responsive touch screen. I painlessly connected it to WiFi and it immediately grabbed the latest firmware upon connecting. A few minutes later, and I was printing from my mobile phone as if I was hardwired. The icons around the LCD screen were very unpredictably lit, though – I didn’t even know it had any until they lit up randomly. I think most of the options are available on the screen, too, but I couldn’t tell (there’s a WiFi one that’s lit up sometimes, an ink droplet, etc.). Perfect for home business!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't say enough good things about this printer, my family has to be sick of hearing about it because I am just amazed how easy it is to use! Being an iOs user I've always had problems with compatibility and still remain up to par with other printers that I have experimented with but this one has to be the by far my #1 choice now! The two separate paper trays make it perfect to print pictures and documents with such ease, and to top it off I love the fact that I can do it from the mobile friendly app. I would recommend this printer if your printing daily from home because it's perfect size for a home office and connects straight to you your phone and computer without loosing the amazing print quality and bright vibrant colors! The Fast Little Workforce That Could...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Highlights Fast black/white and color printing Fast printing double sided with auto page duplexing Decent scan performance compared to dedicated scanner. Duplexer included for double-sided printing AirPrint and NFC support for mobile devices Multiple trays for different paper sizes 500 sheet capacity! Initial Setup The printer is packed well in the product box and faired well through a domestic shipping carrier. The printer is packed inside of a plastic bag with handles that makes it easy to remove from the box without needing more space in the box and little risk to damage in removal. From opening the box to having the printer powered on, cartridges inserted and primed for printing took less than 15 minutes and if you take the time to update the firmware out of the box you’re done in just over 18 minutes with a fast Internet connection. Installation on Windows and Mac was quick ( a CD with software is included but the most current drivers and software from the website are always recommended) and no effort with iOS (AirPrint). Wi-fi Direct is easy to setup as well for situations when you don’t have a wireless network to connect to and a QR code is displayed on-screen to verify connectivity. Management Most functions can be accomplished through the integrated touchscreen but after initial setup it’s easier to use the web interface to adjust configuration. I found that the only way to set and administrator password for the device if connecting to a shared network is through the use of the web interface which does support encrypted communications. Printing I was impressed again by Epson with the Workforce Pro 4730 in its color and black/white performance in single sided and double-sided printing. The quality of the The time required to go from initiating a print job to actual output is pretty quick so you’re not standing around waiting for a job to start. The output speed of the printer is comparable to other midrange laser printers I have used which is commendable for a printer under $200. The included duplexing options makes double-sided printing a breeze as well. I did not test printing with NFC on an Android device, but AirPrint on my iOS devices worked extremely well. Scanning Scan to Network or Email is a nice feature to have if you don’t have a phone line to hook up to make use of the Fax features. Scanning to Email requires entering server information on the touch screen instead of the web interface which is something I would like to be able to accomplish through either management method but that’s something that should be easy to remedy in a firmware upgrade. Copying I used the copy features of the device to duplicate documents that had been originally printed on a laser printer and I was not able to discern any major differences between the two documents, if someone were to ask me to choose which one was laser vs inkjet I would be hard pressed to choose correctly. Overall This is a great printer for the money with good quality and fast printing that is great for a home office or small business. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

Very user friendly
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was impressed with the ease of setup. The printer prints so quickly it took no time at all for the jobs to complete. I was even able to print from my android with no problems. I t holds lots of paper which is a real plus and its fits nicely on my workspace. I am not used to touchscreen printers and was alittle worried about it but it is so user friendly I was pleasantly surprised. Great Printer for Home office use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unpacking of the printer was very pleasant It was easy to get out of the box. The printer weighs about 30 pounds. I opened the box and there was a bag that had handles that I could grab and the printer seamlessly came out and was able to easily set it on the floor to move it to the appropriate location. The directions on unpacking the printer and loading up the ink and getting it setup for the first time was very clear. One thing I noticed right away that I did not like was the lid for the copier part. This lid is just on a hinge and does not have anything to slow down the lid, as with the first time I opened it and let go it slammed down hard on the glass part of the printer. I love the capability of being able to load 500 sheets of paper in the trays. The Setup instructions was easy to follow. The color LED touchscreen display made setup go by quickly. After that I took my iPhone and used the airprint feature and printed a few photos from my phone. The printer printed these photos very quickly and with a high-quality image. This setup also installed the drivers for the Scan – to – Computer feature. I quickly scanned the test page that I printed out and opened the PDF file on my computer and the quality of the scan was sharp and clear. I did find that there are additional features such as Scan-to-email and email printing which are nice features so you can load your scan right on your phone from the email or send an email with a attachment and the printer will print the job. The scan-to-email feature was tricky to setup as Epson does not have a server setup for the scanning. I ended up finding options on google on how to setup printers to scan to email using Gmail and my personal email account. As with me being tech savvy this option still took me about 20 mins to setup which I can only say will take longer if someone wants to setup this feature. The document feeder and the scanner of the printer is amazing. The document feeder pulled a stack of 25 pages that I loaded into it with no issues and was able to scan the document quickly. The downfall of the document feeder is that if you have double sided documents you have to make copies so they would be single sided and would scan correctly. Overall, I was very pleased with the Unpacking, Setup, and print quality. This printer exceeded my needs and my expectations. I would recommend this printer to anyone who would like to have an all in one wireless printer. I found that the setup was easy and painless for a wireless printer setup. Great Multifuntion Printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always been an HP printer supporter. My current setup is a HP LaserJet CM1415fnw Color MFP that I have had for many years. It has been my workhorse for our small business that we run out of our home. We have been very happy with the printer except for the cost of the replacement toner cartridges. To replace all of them costs just under $300.00. My initial investment of the HP printer was almost three times what the Epson cost. So, when I was given the opportunity to beta test the Epson Workforce Pro WF-4739 MFP printer I jumped at the opportunity. This printer’s list price is only $199.00 which is much less than the cost to replace the toner cartridges. The unboxing and setup was very easy with the setup instructions provided. The entire process took about 10 minutes and I did not have any issues during the process. I was unable to setup the wireless connection on my current HP printer so I connected it directly to my computer. I love having the ability to print wirelessly from my living room to the Epson in our office located in the spare room. I am now not tied down to being in the same room as the printer. I also like the ability to print from my phone directly to the printer. It is like having a camera and printer all in one. The printer is a little smaller that my current setup so it has freed up some needed desktop space. I have always liked the idea of a multifunction printer setup. I just don’t have the need for the fax function of the printer as it is easier for me to scan and email the documents. It is old technology that is past its prime. I did not notice a difference in the printing speeds for black / white and color between this printer and my older printer. The quality of the printing is very close or as good as what I was getting from the HP printer. The scanning capacity (35 sheet auto feeder) and quality of the scan (1200 dpi) is also the same as the HP. What I really enjoyed is the capacity of the paper trays. The HP printer had a small capacity of 200 sheets and the Epson has dual trays that will hold up to 500 sheets. This will allow me to print multiple sets of my reports without having to replenish the sheet tray. The other feature that I have not tried out yet is the ability to print and scan double sided documents. I can reduce my paper consumption by almost half with this feature. In summary, this is a great multifunction printer for the features, the initial investment cost, and the lower cost to maintain the printer. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

Great All Around Printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was pleasantly surprised when I unboxed the printer. I really like how the printer looked. This is a printer that you could have on your desk at home or at the office. Also the printer felt durable, but still compact. Setup was a breeze. I have never had such a smooth experience when setting up the printer. I did follow the instructions that were included, but feel that the user menu on the printer itself was simple enough to follow and complete the setup. I really like the touch screen to control the menu options. This makes the printer that much more intuitive to use. Once unpackaged and plugged in, I was ready for setup. Once I installed the ink cartridges I had to wait a few minutes for them to charge. I was surprised at how quickly that part completed. Once that was complete I was able to easily connect to my home wifi network, install the drivers on my pc and within a few more minutes I was printing. The quality of the printing is very good for a printer of this price point. Image quality was really good as well. If you needed to quickly print off a picture on photo paper, I would not hesitate to use this. You can get better quality printing elsewhere, but not at this price point. Some additional features that I like about this printer that you may not see on others are 2 trays to hold different types of paper and double sided printing. This printer also has USB direct print and an auto document feeder that I could see being beneficial. Whether you are printing one sided or two, the speed of the printer is also very impressive. Even 2 sided printing is quicker then I expected Overall I would highly recommend this printer for a home office or business office users. I would also recommend this to a regular home user if you are looking for a printer with some of the extra features. If you do not need the extra features, you can probably find something else that is a little cheaper. Better Than Expected!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's been a number of years since I last used an inkjet printer, since I always found their quality and speed to be far less superior to laser, but this Epson WF-4730 really surprised me! The unboxing experience is very straightforward. Once out of the plastic bag, there are a number of pieces of packaging tape that must be removed. Inserting the ink cartridges and loading the paper was straight forward. I connected the device to my home's WiFi easily via the touch screen display. The screen is small, but it is very precise and snappy (this really surprised me!). Once connected via WiFi, the printer prompted for a firmware update and that finished without issue in a few minutes. I completed a few test pages and was on my way. Printing from my Mac and Windows 10 printer were super easy. Both platforms found the printer automatically and no drivers, etc. were required for setup. Advanced features, such a automatic duplexing work with the automatic driver. Print speed are incredible! I've honestly never seen an inkjet printer this fast in my life. I'm used to laser printers where it has to warm up for a few seconds, the lights dim a bit, etc. This printer has none of that. It quickly spools up and pages fly out in 1/3 of a page at a time it seems like. The document feeder and glass scanner both provide excellent results. Via the document feeder, the paper was scanner very straight, which is a bit unexpected for this price range. Being able to scan to a cloud storage location was an unexpected feature I really found handy! It required me to setup an account with Epson, but once it was setup I can scan right to a folder on my Google Drive (super cool!). Overall, this printer really exceeded my expectations. It was easy to setup, prints very fast and scans in high quality! I would for sure recommend this printer to friends after using this device! A printer for the internet age
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's been a little while since I've bought a printer - I've been happily using an all-in-one laser jet printer for all of my house's needs. When I was asked to beta test and review this printer, honestly I wasn't expecting anything special -- another all-in-one color printer. But this printer sincerely blew away my expectations. I'm a bells and whistles kind of guy, and this printer has it all. It prints color or black and white photos fast and efficiently. It scans, copies, and has fax capabilities if you're old school and have a land line at your house still. But this printer has its own e-mail address. You can legit e-mail your printer and it will print it. And if that wasn't cool enough, you can actually scan documents from the printer directly into your favorite cloud-provider (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc) without having to connect to any computers at all. This feature honestly blows my mind on the coolness factor. I've had a wireless scanner that I would use to scan documents to my computer, and then I was manually moving them into Dropbox for safe keeping - but I'd have to make sure certain software was running on my computer before the scanner could work, etc... This printer does it all without having to be connected to any computer. *mind = blown* You can also scan directly to network file locations as well, such as a network shared folder or NAS drive. This printer not only is replacing my all-in-one laser jet, but it's replacing the wireless scanner I was using too. I'm re-arranging my family room just for this printer. We get home, process through the mail, and then I can take anything that needs saving or want digitized and can scan them in using this new printer. As a bells and whistles, Internet of Things early adopter, this printer seamlessly fits right into my family's lifestyle - it's definitely a printer for the internet age! Does exactly what it claims plus a little more
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Many people think of Epson as the premier printing-needs company and this product reaffirms just this. From the moment the box is opened, you see the time spent by Epson to optimize the printer setup experience. The printer packaging is done in a way that you don’t have to waste 5 minutes trying to remove the printer without breaking any Styrofoam, tearing any plastic bags, or shimmying the printer out of the box. The actual “installation” process is nothing more than turning on the printer and installing the appropriate drivers. While Epson includes a CD for this latter purpose, I would recommend just downloading the latest drivers off their website. From there, wireless setup was a 60 second breeze with a large touchscreen pictorially guiding you through every step. From opening the box to my first print it took about 10 minutes. This sleek and sturdy printer does everything a home office or small business printer needs to do. At reasonably fast speeds, this printer prints in full color, double sided and practically edge to edge. While they certainly aren’t photo quality prints, they still exceed all expectations I had of the product. Changing print settings and all other interactions with the printer display are fabulously intuitive and effortless. In terms of scanning, the printer does a decent job but doesn’t have the capacity or speed of my dedicated scanner, which is unfortunate. Copies look amazing, though there is some slight color degradation. Overall, the compact but simple design and fast-functionality characteristics of this all in one make it a great addition in my office space. At first glance, this printer meets all expectations and then some. Only time will tell, however, how reliable it is. *This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Great home office machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. From the start this is a very user friendly machine. I opened the package and followed the quick set up instructions and they were dead on and easy. The machine went online and offered to do an update check. The machine found an update was needed, and processed the update with out having to use my PC. I was able to connect via my wifi network and was able to easily print my photos and documents with no effort. The machine makes clear copies, and sharp prints and reproduces colors very clearly. Print speeds are fast and images rival laser prints for clarity. This machine replaces a similar machine from a different manufacture, this one is easier to setup and operates with very little effort.
