Great printer for a small office!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After a couple of weeks with this machine I'm happy to report that it's been a pleasure to use. I manage a small print shop / copy center, and we have a number of production laser printers. We decided to add this machine into the mix, and the results of that experiment have been quite positive. The printer was packaged very securely and was a breeze to install. We have it connected wirelessly and it's NFC capabilities have given us added flexibility in servicing our clientele, many of whom need documents printed from their mobile phone. Image quality is very crisp with bright colors and deep blacks. We are actually using this printer to print certain short run business cards. If I have one complaint, however, it would be in the build quality, as I don't see this machine holding up to a heavy monthly workload. It has plastic gears and the trays feel a bit flimsy. That being said, with some extra caution and care, I'm sure a small office or home user will get many years use out of this device, and with a $199 price tag, that is a fantastic deal. This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Very Surprised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To be honest, nowadays I just expect ink jet printers to work fairly similar. Most have separate cartridges for colors and black. Some with more than one black. A few with even a grey. It obvious that this printer is meant to be a work printer, and they advertised it was fast. I halfway believed this, knowing the difference between my Dell Laser at work and my Canon Pixma at home that takes 3 minutes to warm up before it prints. Boy was I wrong. All I can say is this printer is lightning fast. Its definitely on the same playing field as Laser printers but with the same type quality you expect with an inkjet. The interface is easy to understand. Installation is very straightforward. For me, this item was essentially plug and play. I quite honestly kept printing things I didn't need just because I was astonished at the speed and quality of this printer. Please give this a printer a try. I'm looking forward to keeping it. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

An excellent printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided that my Canon TS9020 was using too much ink, and wanted to replace it. After doing considerable searching online, I decided on either this unit or one from Brother (the only ones available with two paper trays available for a reasonable cost). Based on previous experience with Epson, I bought this one - in addition the Brother was more expensive and was very heavy. Setup was easy after removing the large amount of blue shipping tape, and I was ready to go in about thirty minutes. I am very pleased with its performance - it renders photos especially well, better than other printer that I have had. Highly recommended.

No duplex scanning
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The printing quality is pretty good, and the registration was very good. However, I was disappointed to find this all-in-one does not do duplex scanning (the next model up, the 4740, does do duplex scanning). I was also somewhat disappointed by the scanning quality and the less than stellar scanning software. I will be returning this printer. I would recommend if you didn't need the duplex scanning and don't have high expectations for the scanner. In addition, the setup took a bit more time and effort than seemed to me was necessary. You will need to have a USB cable for setup, which is not included with the printer.

very costly to maintain
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this printer for about a year and has less than 1000 pages total on it, it has used up 8 epson ink cart. so far, 870 of the pages have been printed in b/w only, and the color prints have been spreadsheets not photos. only if it has all 4 colors in it even it only trying to print in b/w. a 4 pack of ink is over $125. was on epson support for 3 hours about the ink usage and they had me send screen shots of the printers usage page and ink cart. etc. then they said they would send me a free black cart. as a sorry it sucks so much ink, but it never came., Finally fed up, it's going in the trash this week, cutting my losses and never again an epson. it did scan/copy fine just couldnt print.

I hate almost everything about this printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I went shopping for printers, I specifically asked for one that didn't eat a ton of ink. This was the recommended printer for my business. The ink is expensive, but I was told it doesn't use much so it wouldn't be as costly as other printers. That information was very wrong. Here is what I like about this printer: The scanning function works well if you use the glass. It looks nice. Here is what's wrong with this printer: It eats ink. I can print 10 pages with minimal color and it will run out of one of the toners. The ink is expensive When printing, it pulls multiple sheets of paper at a time, printing on sheet on several and ruining whatever I was attempting to print along with wasting a lot of paper and ink. I just printed one page, it pulled 6 through and even if it doesn't print on all of the extra pages it pulls through, there are still blank pages in whatever you're trying to print. It doesn't always pull from the backup drawer even when it's set to. The scanner on top of the printer works well about 60% of the time. The rest of the time it misfeeds or doesn't detect that there is anything there to scan. It needs constant cleaning to get rid of the lines. Not just the 'maintenance' that the printer can run on itself. You have to pull the ink cartridges out and clean the injectors frequently to get rid of the lines all over the prints.

A review after 4.5 years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer has a great honeymoon phase of about a year, and then everything starts to go downhill. After everything works great for awhile, the printer starts to eat multiple sheets of paper every time you try to print a single thing, or it will use color ink for B&W prints (and then scream that it's low), or use the wrong print bay which had the expensive paper that you really didn't want to print your car insurance cards on. Overall, a poor experience for someone who casually prints and I would not recommend as the printer seems to drain any cartridges whether you're using them or not.

First and Last Epson
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never ever bought anything but HP printers for home use over the last 35 years but used commercial grade Epson's in the office a lot where I found them to be typical high quality Japanese products. Big difference from the consumer models like this one which I discovered to my regret. Right from the start a little over a year ago the print quality was never that good compared to HP Inkjets. After very light use I changed the ink ($65) only to have the dreaded code 097 appear which means it's an unfixable hardware error (major malfunction just from changing the ink?). Customer service however was very good and they are sending me a refurbished replacement which is the only reason they are getting a 2 rather than a 1. Once I use up the ink in the replacement printer I'll be going back to HP.....

Worst printer EVER!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this printer in April 2020 when I started working from home due to COVID. It was replacing a Brother printer that I use to have. I wanted to try a different brand. I hate I tried this one. The document feeder ALWAYS SCAN more than one page at a time no matter if I'm scanning 5 or 10 pages, every single time. I've called Epson technical support a few times about this, but they were no help AT ALL! The ink cartridges are ridiculously expensive! If I were to purchase all 4 cartridges, it exceeds the cost of the printer! That is ridiculous. So now this stupid machine is just sitting on my desk taking up space. I can't even use it at all. I replaced the black and magenta cartridges, but because all 4 cartridges are not replaced, this machine will not work. It won't even let me SCAN a document!! I am so MAD, not just upset, that I made the mistake of purchasing this dumb printer. I HATE IT and I will NEVER, EVER BUY ANYTHING made by Epson again!! Ugh...I only wish I could return this piece of crap! Buyer beware...STAY AWAY FROM THIS STUPID PRINTER!

Moody
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a home based business and have owned several printers. I bought this one based on the reviews but after having it several months I must say it's very frustrating. I use it with a newer HP computer so maybe they don't like each other but I'm tired of the ongoing issues including...it constantly says it's out of paper (when it's not), on larger printing jobs (75 pages), it always skips a few pages in the middle of the document or it misaligns a page at some point. So many quirky things...I even had a computer repair guy tell me Epsons are quirky. Yep...I don't have enough time in my life to deal with this. My last Epson.

Duplexer jams frequently
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The print quality is great, but about every 20th page jams in the duplexer when printing two-sided documents. It's frustrating how often I have to remove it to get at the paper jammed within. The ink is quite expensive as well.

Do not recommend.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had high hopes for this printer when we bought it for our business. It had good reviews and seemed to be a good deal. We realized too late that many of the good reviews are from people who were given free printers to write the reviews. We would not recommend this printer to anyone! It goes through (very expensive) ink at an astonishing rate....we don't print that much, but after only having had the printer for a little over a month, we are already having to put in our THIRD set of cartridges. We can't afford to keep using this thing! The printer doesn't seem to recognize paper in the second carriage, and oftentimes paper gets caught when we're printing so that in the midst of a stack we unexpectedly find several blank pages. Very frustrating! Don't buy!

Better rating if scanner worked with WiFi

Beware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Epson, without adequate warning, sent out a software update that had the effect of making this printer inoperable with remanufactured ink cartridges. Since a set of Epson ink costs more than what I paid for the printer this effectively made the printer not worth keeping. I will never buy another Epson product.

Poor Design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer uses color ink even if you are printing in black and white which means you cannot print a black and white document if you are out of color ink. I logged a design complaint and was told the color ink is used in black and white printing in ALL of their printers. This means that if you are trying to be thrifty with color - you can't. I've NEVER had a printer that prevented black and white printing because of color cartridges. This is a stupid design which is just there to make the consumer purchase more color ink. I'm angry that I'm stuck with this stupid printer and will never buy an Epson again. If I could give this zero stars I would.

Not the best choice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always purchased Epson and I have never had any issues before this printer. I purchased this model about a year ago, used it a handful of times and then an error code popped up (based on what I have read online, this code means there is a fatal error/there have been a lot of people with this same problem with this particular model). I would definitely keep looking and don't let the regular price of $199 and on sale for $100 price tempt you. There's a reason it's on sale...

Buy More Ink
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you enjoy purchasing ink every other week this is the best printer for the money. I can tell you that since I have had this printer (10 months) I have spent over $500 or more on ink. I barely use it too, it’s actually a backup to my Samsung.

JUNK
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced ink almost every other month with minimal use at the cost of over $100 each time! Then at the 14 month mark is showed a "fatal hardware issue (2 months past the warranty). This is now my second Epson printer to fail on me. I will no longer buy any Epson products.
