    All Good Except pdf Printing.

The first thing you'll certainly notice is how big this printer is. It can be lifted and moved by one person, but it's really bordering the line of being too awkward to carry. I'm 5' 10" and was fine with it, but my 5' 3" wife looked at it and shook her head no. I would recommend taking this directly to where you want to set it up and unbox it there. However, if you decide not to, Epson at least had the good foresight put the entire printer in a sturdy bag that has solid handles on it so you can just pull it directly out of the box and easily carry it to where it needs to go. The printer is packed extremely well and I was really pleased to see all the tape on the printer. I'm not being sarcastic, they did a phenomenal job making sure anything that could possibly move was taped down securely to prevent breakage. Set up was pretty straight forward. If you'd set up any similar printer this should be a cake walk. The four included ink cartridges went in smoothly and quickly. I liked how I had the ability to get the printer on my WiFi by way of the included LCD display or by the included CD software. Side note on this: I was really impressed that the software automatically reaches out to the internet and uses the most current version if a new one is available (it was for me). From un-boxing to first print it was about 20 minutes for me. I lost some time removing all the tape, updating the install app, then updating the firmware. I like that they are very cognizant of their software and firmware updates and allow me to complete them by the on-printer LCD or via my PC. For me, the issues I was running into involved the actual printing aspect. So I did a few tests between documents, pdfs, and pictures. So for starters I just copy and pasted a bunch of text into a notepad file and printed it. There were four total pages full of text and I can say this printer just fired them out with insane speed. It took longer for the initial start up sequence (which maybe took 7 seconds) than it did to print the four pages. I was shocked. Next I printed a document in pdf form. Unfortunately, it took longer to print one pdf than it did to print the entire four page notepad document before it. The difference was night and day, I wasn't impressed in that regard. From here I printed another pdf document that was half text half picture...that also took far longer than expected. Additionally, the image had a distinct line in it about every inch (see attached image) that was not in the original pdf. Surprisingly, switching back to printing out a regular jpeg yielded very fast printing again. I'm not sure what the deal is, but there seems to be a serious hangup when printing pdfs. Beyond the printing, the feature set of this printer is awesome. I was able to make it scan directly to my PC (you can set up any particular PC you want and can choose from the list you've created with ease), and I was able to get it to scan directly to my DropBox, Google Drive, and One Drive with no problem at all. Configuration was simple and straight forward and the scanned images look great. You can also scan directly to pdf format if you'd like. Additionally, copying yielded great results as well. It looked like there was little to no image degradation from the original source. Very pleased! The features go beyond what I've noted above (and obviously I haven't even talked about faxing since I rarely use it these days) and over all this is a really solid unit that I'm extremely excited to have in my house. Minus the hang ups with pdf printing, this device is going to be a staple in my home and will be relied upon heavily! I would undoubtedly recommend this device to anyone in the market for a device with these capabilities. Summary Pros: - Very versatile device that allows you to have some high-end functions without a ridiculous price. - Good looking and highly responsive LCD that allows for ink monitoring, setting changes, firmware updates. - Really fast printing for most formats. - Large feature set that seems to be above what most devices allow for in this price range. Cons: - Doesn't seem to print quickly or entirely accurate with pdfs and since this seems to be aimed at the home business crowd, that could be problematic. Review of Epson Workforce Pro WF-4730: Unpacking: Unpacking was a pleasure, despite me being 50 years old with several herniated disks and no assistance available at the time that I opened the box. The printer is nestled inside four separate pieces of styrofoam, two of which you simply pull straight up on to remove from the box after you open it. Then, the printer itself is contained inside a very strong, clear plastic bag which has handles cut into the plastic. You simply pull straight up on the handles, and the printer comes easily out of the box so that you can set it on a flat surface, roll the sides of the bag down around the printer and then grab the printer itself for easy placement in its permanent location. The power cord and ink cartridges are tucked under the top printer tray feed area. The entire printer arrives taped everywhere to prevent any trays or doors opening and being potentially damaged. Each piece of tape has a folded tab for easy grasping ( see attached pics if able to post) and all the tape pulls off easily and leaves no residue. Set up and installation: Pay attention to your instructions and do not install the printer software on your computer until you have set up and turned on your printer. Plugging in the power cable was the only cable that I had to hook up prior to turning the printer on, since I intended to use it as a wireless device only. You can attach a phone line to the printer for fax purposes, but since I have Vonage and not a separate phone line, I will have to move my Vonage line from my phone to the Epson printer when I need to fax. Once I plugged in and turned on the printer, I installed the four ink cartridges, confirmed my language choice and changed the date, time and season/daylight savings time information. Making changes to the set up was easy and very intuitive based on the touch screen display. I also set up any "Scan To" information for scanning to the cloud, adding my email address, and my One Drive and Google Drive account information. After downloading the most updated software for the printer from the Epson support site, and restarting the computer, I was then prompted by the auto-check feature of the printer software to update the firmware. That took about three minutes and was easy to do. It was all automated. If you do not want automated software checking, you can turn that feature off. Use: This printer is extremely easy to use. The touchscreen for the device is clear, bright and easy to read and understand. The brightness can be adjusted and the touchscreen sounds can be turned off or set to be off during a "quiet hours" set time. I needed no assistance from the manual to perform the basic print and scan functions since the touchscreen walks you through everything. I anticipate using the fax function would be just as simple. The "Scan To Cloud" function for each of my set up options performed flawlessly. If you want to use the "Scan To Email" function, you will need to have a PC in your home set up as a dedicated email server and connect that to the Epson. Most home users will not have this type of advanced computer set up, and will use the email portion of "Scan To Cloud" instead to get a scan to their email address. Build Quality: My overall review of this printer will deduct one star in the final tally due to build quality. While the printer is somewhat solid feeling and certainly no lightweight (it is about 15-20 lbs to carry), all of the important tabs, clips and gears appear to be all plastic. For example, the gear wheel used to hold the scan tray open any time you need to change the ink cartridges is plastic, and to close the tray, you need to apply force against the plastic teeth. I can see this being a problem over time. Especially since the plastic already makes a loud cracking sound as you open the tray and another as you close it. The entire device is all black plastic on its outer facing surfaces with the exception of the touchscreen. The LED light showing power is bright blue, but not obnoxiously bright. The control panel swivels out for easy viewing and back in to stay out of the way. The paper tray extension that pulls out to catch your printed material is about three inches too short. You will probably find you printed items on the floor if you are not there to catch them. Overall: This printer is a very nice upgrade from my old HP LaserJet that prints only in black and white. Do I think it will last as long as the old HP, which is still going strong? No, but I do love that I now have wireless connectivity so that I can place this printer anywhere I want it. I also love the features that I mentioned in this review that once were only available on very high end business office printers. I love how easy it was to set this up and get it going. I also appreciate that I was able to unbox and set it up without needing the spouse around to help. I am extremely computer literate, having built gaming PCs and set up and maintained the home networks for us and my parents. I think the average user would still be fine setting up, configuring and using this printer since the touchpad walks you through so much step by step. Reading the manual for clarification on some issues will still be needed by everyone at some point, I am sure. This thing is fast too. Compared to what I am used to, it was a surprise to have my first print job spit out at me so quickly. So far, I would definitely recommend this printer to friends and family. My husband, who is picky and hard to please, says he likes it very much as well. Colors are nice, paper and ink are problematic

I bought this after comparing the image printout color and quality with other ink jets and a color HP laser. The HP laser was a great printer but the picture print was not good enough for the kids school homework. It was easy to setup, does decent scanning and printing. Mine has issues pulling multiple pieces of paper when printing. Some of the time the one that gets printed on is the "front" page and there is a blank behind it. Other times it prints half on one sheet and then the "front page" is halfway down so the top is printed on the "back" page and the bottom is at the top of the "front" page. This thing guzzles ink! The first time my cartridges were getting low I replaced the one that ran out. After changing cartridge #1 and the printer doing the things it does when you put in a new cartridge another one was empty. So I put in new cartridge #2 and it did its thing. Now a 3rd cartridge was empty and the first one I replace is down 10%. I replace #3 and it does its thing and empties cartridge #4. Now 1 is down 20%, 2 is down 10% and 3 is full. I replace cartridge #4 (the last one) and after it finishes cartridge #4 is full, #3 is 60%,#2 is a bit over 50% and cartridge #1 is 50%. (see image, you can guess what one I replaced last) The initial cartridge plus changing them had printed 299 pages (138 of those color) and 3 of the 4 new cartridges are significantly lower than 80% with no printing at all. The new cartridges I bought were Epson brand 802 and were the only new cartridges ever in the printer. I always use Epson ink for the theoretical quality and consistency. Reading other notes on the net the printer uses chip technology to reject 3rd party ink you might be inclined to use since the branded "pricey" cartridges perform so poorly. When the black ran out I did before and after of the ink display to see the loss for swapping the black cartridge (no printing at all between the 2 shots below)- note the loss of color ink after replacing the black.

Bottom Line: I love this printer and highly recommend it! Setting the Stage: This is my first laser printer. I've bought only Inkjet printers previously as they are generally less expensive for comparable lasers. I use laser printers at my Office but they are professional high end models. I got the WF 4730 five days ago so this review is based on my limited time working with it. However, I have printed over 50 documents during the last few days so I can attest to its performance.   1.  Setup was extremely easy and took less than 10 minutes. I followed the basic instructions provided in the Instructions and didn't encounter any issues. In fact the setup was very intuitive and if you have set up printers at home in the past, you really don't need the instructions. Just follow the prompts on the printer screen.   2. Using the CD provided, loading the Software on my laptop was without incident and the installed software was then automatically updated.   3. Setting up the WIFI was quick and effortless. especially if you have the WPS button on your Router. Follow the prompts on the printer screen and when indicated, press the WPS on your Router.   4. Connecting our laptops and smartphones was also simple. Again, all you need to do is follow the printer screen prompts, use the PIN number provided and enter on your devices.   5. In less than 10 minutes I was printing Test Pages!   6. The WF 4730 prints one-sided and two-sided pages. Unlike similarly priced printers, you don't have to manually add a page at a time to go from one sided to two sided. Just load all your pages and let the printer do it's thing.   7. Printing is very fast for a unit of this price. In fact, I have a high end HP Inkjet at home and this model prints a bit faster. I have printed over 100 pages in four days and haven't had one issue crop up.   8. Quality of pictures and print is good as any printer I have used except for the business models. But I'm not going to pay over $1000 for a home printer! Besides the quality difference that significant.   9. The scan feature is very good. You can insert multiple pages for the printer to scan and not have to worry about doing it one page at a time. I tested saving scans to our laptops and smartphones and also to MS OneDrive. Worked every time. I then opened the files from each device and sent it to them to the printer. Everything printed properly.   10. I can't comment on how well the FAX works as I haven't tested this feature yet. Based on everything else I have seen, I wouldn't expect any issues. Once I test the FAX capability, I will provide an update if I run into a problem.   11. Since I have had the printer only 5 days and printed approximately 100 pages so far in B&W and color (combined), I can't tell yet how many pages I'll actually get from the ink cartridges Overall Impression: The Epson WF 4730 All-in-One Laser printer is a great value for the low price. Setup is , quick and intuitive, prints crisp, clear photos and print in B&W and Color, nice scanning capability and easily connects to your smart devices. I highly recommend this All-in-One anyone looking to get a new device. The Fast Little Workforce That Could...

Highlights Fast black/white and color printing Fast printing double sided with auto page duplexing Decent scan performance compared to dedicated scanner. Duplexer included for double-sided printing AirPrint and NFC support for mobile devices Multiple trays for different paper sizes 500 sheet capacity! Initial Setup The printer is packed well in the product box and faired well through a domestic shipping carrier. The printer is packed inside of a plastic bag with handles that makes it easy to remove from the box without needing more space in the box and little risk to damage in removal. From opening the box to having the printer powered on, cartridges inserted and primed for printing took less than 15 minutes and if you take the time to update the firmware out of the box you’re done in just over 18 minutes with a fast Internet connection. Installation on Windows and Mac was quick ( a CD with software is included but the most current drivers and software from the website are always recommended) and no effort with iOS (AirPrint). Wi-fi Direct is easy to setup as well for situations when you don’t have a wireless network to connect to and a QR code is displayed on-screen to verify connectivity. Management Most functions can be accomplished through the integrated touchscreen but after initial setup it’s easier to use the web interface to adjust configuration. I found that the only way to set and administrator password for the device if connecting to a shared network is through the use of the web interface which does support encrypted communications. Printing I was impressed again by Epson with the Workforce Pro 4730 in its color and black/white performance in single sided and double-sided printing. The quality of the The time required to go from initiating a print job to actual output is pretty quick so you’re not standing around waiting for a job to start. The output speed of the printer is comparable to other midrange laser printers I have used which is commendable for a printer under $200. The included duplexing options makes double-sided printing a breeze as well. I did not test printing with NFC on an Android device, but AirPrint on my iOS devices worked extremely well. Scanning Scan to Network or Email is a nice feature to have if you don’t have a phone line to hook up to make use of the Fax features. Scanning to Email requires entering server information on the touch screen instead of the web interface which is something I would like to be able to accomplish through either management method but that’s something that should be easy to remedy in a firmware upgrade. Copying I used the copy features of the device to duplicate documents that had been originally printed on a laser printer and I was not able to discern any major differences between the two documents, if someone were to ask me to choose which one was laser vs inkjet I would be hard pressed to choose correctly. Overall This is a great printer for the money with good quality and fast printing that is great for a home office or small business. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

Originally having a bad experience back in the 90’s with Epson printers, I was always an HP fan and only purchased HP printers. Unfortunately, every single HP printer I’ve owned during the last 8 years has broken down prematurely or suffered from unrepairable print quality degradation. I was offered an opportunity to beta test an Epson WF4730, and I’m very impressed! It took me about 15 minutes to take it out of the box, set it up on my network, and download / install the latest firmware. My first order of business was to connect it to my wireless network and configure scanning to email, a feature I heavily rely on. I was happy to notice a feature that my old printer didn’t have; the ability to create contact groups so I can scan and send documents to multiple people at once rather than having to select each contact one at a time like I had to on my old HP printer; this is a huge time-saver. There is a bug when back-spacing and correcting names as you create contacts which threw me off, that needs to be fixed so minus one star for that. If/when that gets fixed, I’ll update my review and rating. My next step was to try printing documents from my cell, a task which wasn’t as easy as it should have been with my last printer. The Epson WF4730 makes this task very simple, I was able to print directly from my Galaxy S8 Plus just by tapping it against the printer. My phone immediately detected the printer, downloaded the necessary drivers, and I printed a color photo from my album on regular paper. I couldn’t believe how quickly the printer was able to print a full-page color photo! The speed is blazing on this thing, it only took a few seconds with bright and vivid colors. I didn’t realize how bad the quality was of the printouts from my previous printer until I saw printouts from this one. As a professional IT engineer, I appreciate the configurability of this printer. It requires only a quick basic setup for the average person to start using all the features, but allows a very granular advanced configuration for those who desire it or have advanced needs. Configuring and using faxing is a breeze, it’s nice to know I have the ability when the rare occasion arrives when I’ll need it; it isn’t often but it does happen. Aesthetically, this printer looks nice and modern, and feels solid. It has two paper trays which is great if you want to store two different types or sizes of paper, and the default tray options are easily configurable. Having the built-in duplexer is huge, as I prefer to print on both sides of the paper to save paper wherever possible. Overall, I’m very happy with the quality, speed, and color accuracy of this printer. The only issue I had with my testing is the one bug concerning the entering of names into the address book and using the backspace key to correct mistakes, other than that I can’t find one single flaw. It’s easy to use, set up, and even my wife has no problems using it. The unpacking of the printer was very pleasant It was easy to get out of the box. The printer weighs about 30 pounds. I opened the box and there was a bag that had handles that I could grab and the printer seamlessly came out and was able to easily set it on the floor to move it to the appropriate location. The directions on unpacking the printer and loading up the ink and getting it setup for the first time was very clear. One thing I noticed right away that I did not like was the lid for the copier part. This lid is just on a hinge and does not have anything to slow down the lid, as with the first time I opened it and let go it slammed down hard on the glass part of the printer. I love the capability of being able to load 500 sheets of paper in the trays. The Setup instructions was easy to follow. The color LED touchscreen display made setup go by quickly. After that I took my iPhone and used the airprint feature and printed a few photos from my phone. The printer printed these photos very quickly and with a high-quality image. This setup also installed the drivers for the Scan – to – Computer feature. I quickly scanned the test page that I printed out and opened the PDF file on my computer and the quality of the scan was sharp and clear. I did find that there are additional features such as Scan-to-email and email printing which are nice features so you can load your scan right on your phone from the email or send an email with a attachment and the printer will print the job. The scan-to-email feature was tricky to setup as Epson does not have a server setup for the scanning. I ended up finding options on google on how to setup printers to scan to email using Gmail and my personal email account. As with me being tech savvy this option still took me about 20 mins to setup which I can only say will take longer if someone wants to setup this feature. The document feeder and the scanner of the printer is amazing. The document feeder pulled a stack of 25 pages that I loaded into it with no issues and was able to scan the document quickly. The downfall of the document feeder is that if you have double sided documents you have to make copies so they would be single sided and would scan correctly. Overall, I was very pleased with the Unpacking, Setup, and print quality. This printer exceeded my needs and my expectations. I would recommend this printer to anyone who would like to have an all in one wireless printer. I found that the setup was easy and painless for a wireless printer setup. Great Multifuntion Printer

    Posted

I have always been an HP printer supporter. My current setup is a HP LaserJet CM1415fnw Color MFP that I have had for many years. It has been my workhorse for our small business that we run out of our home. We have been very happy with the printer except for the cost of the replacement toner cartridges. To replace all of them costs just under $300.00. My initial investment of the HP printer was almost three times what the Epson cost. So, when I was given the opportunity to beta test the Epson Workforce Pro WF-4739 MFP printer I jumped at the opportunity. This printer’s list price is only $199.00 which is much less than the cost to replace the toner cartridges. The unboxing and setup was very easy with the setup instructions provided. The entire process took about 10 minutes and I did not have any issues during the process. I was unable to setup the wireless connection on my current HP printer so I connected it directly to my computer. I love having the ability to print wirelessly from my living room to the Epson in our office located in the spare room. I am now not tied down to being in the same room as the printer. I also like the ability to print from my phone directly to the printer. It is like having a camera and printer all in one. The printer is a little smaller that my current setup so it has freed up some needed desktop space. I have always liked the idea of a multifunction printer setup. I just don’t have the need for the fax function of the printer as it is easier for me to scan and email the documents. It is old technology that is past its prime. I did not notice a difference in the printing speeds for black / white and color between this printer and my older printer. The quality of the printing is very close or as good as what I was getting from the HP printer. The scanning capacity (35 sheet auto feeder) and quality of the scan (1200 dpi) is also the same as the HP. What I really enjoyed is the capacity of the paper trays. The HP printer had a small capacity of 200 sheets and the Epson has dual trays that will hold up to 500 sheets. This will allow me to print multiple sets of my reports without having to replenish the sheet tray. The other feature that I have not tried out yet is the ability to print and scan double sided documents. I can reduce my paper consumption by almost half with this feature. In summary, this is a great multifunction printer for the features, the initial investment cost, and the lower cost to maintain the printer. “This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.”

A seamless, competent printer for the budget

I hadn’t setup a printer in many years, so I was not looking forward to setting this up (wireless printers were always a pain). Fortunately, technology has evolved quite a bit and Epson did a good job with this printer. I was ready to go in ~10 minutes, 5 of which were necessary while the machine calibrated itself. Pros: - little time/effort required to get up and running - speedy, quality printing & scanning - dead simple mobile printing Cons: - occasionally ambiguous system menus/lights - questionable build quality for scan tray hinge & paper trays - doesn’t include any sample paper (photo, etc.) in the box (!) Scanning and printing were pretty straightforward – fast, and of quality in both cases. For this price point, the printer seemed very feature rich in these areas – even offering the ability to scan to a file store or email (SMTP server setup required) and support for AirPrint and Cloud Print (this is hugely convenient – I don’t know that I’d buy a printer without this now). I would’ve expected a packet of different test papers to get started (showcasing the photo capabilities, etc.) but they were suspiciously absent from the box. The printer wasn’t particularly quiet, but I don’t think it’d wake anyone up during late night prints, either. While the device feels solid and of quality in some places (ink cartridge area, the folding screen/control area) it was rather particular in others. The top paper tray seems like you’re forcing it in to the point where you question whether you’ve aligned it properly or pulled it out too far (it definitely doesn’t have that “on rails” slide in/out feel). Additionally, the hinges that allow you to lift the scan tray (perhaps designed this way to accommodate large item scanning?) feel a little cheap and, due to its own heft, allows the top lid to flex a little when raising it from either side. I was impressed with the ease of setup, and enjoyed using the responsive touch screen. I painlessly connected it to WiFi and it immediately grabbed the latest firmware upon connecting. A few minutes later, and I was printing from my mobile phone as if I was hardwired. The icons around the LCD screen were very unpredictably lit, though – I didn’t even know it had any until they lit up randomly. I think most of the options are available on the screen, too, but I couldn’t tell (there’s a WiFi one that’s lit up sometimes, an ink droplet, etc.). A Great SOHO All In One

The Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 is a great option for high volume home office and small office users that are looking for a very capable all in one with some nice extras. When the box arrived, I was surprised at the heft of the unit, this seems to be a good sign that heavy duty parts are used for this unit which is meant for higher duty cycles. The unboxing was very straightforward, Epson does a very nice job packaging the unit and even includes some handles built into the plastic bag so the printer can be easily lifted from the box (nice touch). After removing the typical packing tape, the printer was ready to configure. The power on and ink installation (the printer comes with 4 starter ink cartridges) was easy, clean, and fast. I was also able to get the printer connected to Wifi easily using the on screen menu of the printer (wired Ethernet is also an option) and was able to use the AirPrint feature to print from my iPhone in just minutes from unboxing which was great. Setup on my computers was also smooth. I installed the printer drivers and tools from the Epson website on both Windows 10 and Windows 7 PCs and had only a brief issue with one of my Windows 10 PCs that ended up being a network issue related to that PC, otherwise I had no issues getting the drivers loaded and the printer working for all systems. In my use so far, when set at Standard or High Quality print, the printer has excellent text quality and very good image quality, also the print speed at Standard is very fast (almost twice as fast as my previous printer) so I think I will run in Standard mode most of the time. In Draft quality, the print speed is a bit faster, but the print density is much lower, so this mode will only be used if we want to conserve ink for draft reviews. Overall I am very pleased with both the print speed and the print quality from this printer. Beyond printing, this all in one has many high end features: scan, copy, fax, auto document feeder, auto duplexing, AirPrint and NFC printing, USB direct print, two large paper trays, easy to use touch screen and features typically found in higher end units like scan to email, scan or copy punch hole removal, and shadow removal. At this price point, this is a great value with high quality printing and many features useful for SOHO users. This Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 printer replaced an Epson Workforce printer (WF-3620) that my family share at home. I found that the Epson printer was affordable, reliable, great features, versatility, easy setup, and overall use. For my family, black and white prints are typically all we need and tend to be lower in cost. I like the availability to replace ink cartridges with XL cartridges lasting longer between replacements. The black ink well is large and can be replaced independently with an oversized chamber upon ink refill, which is an incredible convenience for us. The Epson WorkForce Multifunction Printers are easy to master by everyone in our family. We have two daughters that are college students and can quickly scan and save directly to their own USB thumb-drive from a USB slot located on the front face of these printers. When it comes to find the best Color Inkjet Multifunction Printers for our family there are a few features that are a must in order to meet our needs in a printer. Those features are: duplex printing, Wi-Fi enabled printing, scanning (to the cloud/email and even to USB flash drive), ADF (auto document feeder), FAX capable and the ability to print on a variety of papers. I think Epson MF's are a top choice in multi-function printers. The simple, yet sleek design makes this printer easy to use for any person. All-in-all, it is easy to manage and is a quality household or office printer. The New Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 is a nice all in one printer for the consumer that needs the capabilities of an all in one but wants the quality of a laser printer without having the laser cost of ownership price. I was looking for printer that had an automatic document feeder for double side scanning and copying and could print on both sides. I also needed a printer that my family could use and connect to easily via their smartphones and tablets. The WorkForce Pro WF-4730 was easy to set up out of the box. Following the installation guide got me up and running in less than ten minutes. I was surprised how easy it was to use the built-in touch screen to configure the printer and get it set up on my wireless network. The use of the WPS button on my router made wifi set up simple and secure by just following the prompts from the printer. The ability to scan to my Google drive or OneDrive accounts was a big plus. I find myself doing a lot more scanning of documents then printing and like the ability to scan and save all my documents with a touch of a button. Having the document feeder is an extremely helpful feature and I am relieved to not have to load each document one at a time anymore. This all in one is great for the average consumer or for the home office. Families will find it easy to use and have all the flexibility to print from their portable devices. Pros: Easy initial setup and connecting to WiFi Use of touch screen and navigation of printer menu Scanning services like scan to email and scan to cloud services like Google Drive, OneNote, etc Automatic document feeder for copying and scanning Mobile printing via Epson Connect or use of Apple Air Print, Google Cloud Print, etc. Cons: A little noise before printing starts, Keep in mind this prints like a laser printer but still has the moving parts of an ink printer This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

I hate almost everything about this printer

When I went shopping for printers, I specifically asked for one that didn't eat a ton of ink. This was the recommended printer for my business. The ink is expensive, but I was told it doesn't use much so it wouldn't be as costly as other printers. That information was very wrong. Here is what I like about this printer: The scanning function works well if you use the glass. It looks nice. Here is what's wrong with this printer: It eats ink. I can print 10 pages with minimal color and it will run out of one of the toners. The ink is expensive When printing, it pulls multiple sheets of paper at a time, printing on sheet on several and ruining whatever I was attempting to print along with wasting a lot of paper and ink. I just printed one page, it pulled 6 through and even if it doesn't print on all of the extra pages it pulls through, there are still blank pages in whatever you're trying to print. It doesn't always pull from the backup drawer even when it's set to. The scanner on top of the printer works well about 60% of the time. The rest of the time it misfeeds or doesn't detect that there is anything there to scan. It needs constant cleaning to get rid of the lines. Not just the 'maintenance' that the printer can run on itself. You have to pull the ink cartridges out and clean the injectors frequently to get rid of the lines all over the prints.

    Great All Around Printer

I was pleasantly surprised when I unboxed the printer. I really like how the printer looked. This is a printer that you could have on your desk at home or at the office. Also the printer felt durable, but still compact. Setup was a breeze. I have never had such a smooth experience when setting up the printer. I did follow the instructions that were included, but feel that the user menu on the printer itself was simple enough to follow and complete the setup. I really like the touch screen to control the menu options. This makes the printer that much more intuitive to use. Once unpackaged and plugged in, I was ready for setup. Once I installed the ink cartridges I had to wait a few minutes for them to charge. I was surprised at how quickly that part completed. Once that was complete I was able to easily connect to my home wifi network, install the drivers on my pc and within a few more minutes I was printing. The quality of the printing is very good for a printer of this price point. Image quality was really good as well. If you needed to quickly print off a picture on photo paper, I would not hesitate to use this. You can get better quality printing elsewhere, but not at this price point. Some additional features that I like about this printer that you may not see on others are 2 trays to hold different types of paper and double sided printing. This printer also has USB direct print and an auto document feeder that I could see being beneficial. Whether you are printing one sided or two, the speed of the printer is also very impressive. Even 2 sided printing is quicker then I expected Overall I would highly recommend this printer for a home office or business office users. I would also recommend this to a regular home user if you are looking for a printer with some of the extra features. If you do not need the extra features, you can probably find something else that is a little cheaper. It's been a number of years since I last used an inkjet printer, since I always found their quality and speed to be far less superior to laser, but this Epson WF-4730 really surprised me! The unboxing experience is very straightforward. Once out of the plastic bag, there are a number of pieces of packaging tape that must be removed. Inserting the ink cartridges and loading the paper was straight forward. I connected the device to my home's WiFi easily via the touch screen display. The screen is small, but it is very precise and snappy (this really surprised me!). Once connected via WiFi, the printer prompted for a firmware update and that finished without issue in a few minutes. I completed a few test pages and was on my way. Printing from my Mac and Windows 10 printer were super easy. Both platforms found the printer automatically and no drivers, etc. were required for setup. Advanced features, such a automatic duplexing work with the automatic driver. Print speed are incredible! I've honestly never seen an inkjet printer this fast in my life. I'm used to laser printers where it has to warm up for a few seconds, the lights dim a bit, etc. This printer has none of that. It quickly spools up and pages fly out in 1/3 of a page at a time it seems like. The document feeder and glass scanner both provide excellent results. Via the document feeder, the paper was scanner very straight, which is a bit unexpected for this price range. Being able to scan to a cloud storage location was an unexpected feature I really found handy! It required me to setup an account with Epson, but once it was setup I can scan right to a folder on my Google Drive (super cool!). Overall, this printer really exceeded my expectations. It was easy to setup, prints very fast and scans in high quality! I would for sure recommend this printer to friends after using this device! A printer for the internet age

It's been a little while since I've bought a printer - I've been happily using an all-in-one laser jet printer for all of my house's needs. When I was asked to beta test and review this printer, honestly I wasn't expecting anything special -- another all-in-one color printer. But this printer sincerely blew away my expectations. I'm a bells and whistles kind of guy, and this printer has it all. It prints color or black and white photos fast and efficiently. It scans, copies, and has fax capabilities if you're old school and have a land line at your house still. But this printer has its own e-mail address. You can legit e-mail your printer and it will print it. And if that wasn't cool enough, you can actually scan documents from the printer directly into your favorite cloud-provider (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc) without having to connect to any computers at all. This feature honestly blows my mind on the coolness factor. I've had a wireless scanner that I would use to scan documents to my computer, and then I was manually moving them into Dropbox for safe keeping - but I'd have to make sure certain software was running on my computer before the scanner could work, etc... This printer does it all without having to be connected to any computer. *mind = blown* You can also scan directly to network file locations as well, such as a network shared folder or NAS drive. This printer not only is replacing my all-in-one laser jet, but it's replacing the wireless scanner I was using too. I'm re-arranging my family room just for this printer. We get home, process through the mail, and then I can take anything that needs saving or want digitized and can scan them in using this new printer. As a bells and whistles, Internet of Things early adopter, this printer seamlessly fits right into my family's lifestyle - it's definitely a printer for the internet age! Unboxing of the Printer: Box is quite large, it comes with setup instructions (very easy to follow), user manual, an installation cd (I recommend you just grab the latest Software from Epson website), power cord, and start up toners (all colors). Overall very well packaged, printer did not have any damages. Setup: I followed the setup instructions that came with the box, it was super easy to follow the instructions. I used the Wi-Fi to up setup the printer, without having to install any software on my PC yet. I was successfully able to setup the printer to my network. After doing so, I was also able to update the firmware right from the printer. Took me about 10 minutes after taking out of the box for setup. Print Test/Hardware/Scanner: It prints really fast and good quality too. I was amazed by the speed of the prints. I printed both in color and white/black, quality of the prints were excellent. Terms of hardware the touch screen is very responsive, I had older brother printer and the touch screen was not the greatest. I scanned couple of documents using the printer and it worked as expected. I am able to scan to any types of formats (PDF, Jpeg, etc..). Overall I would have to say printer is little bit on the bigger side. Smartphone Printing: This is one of the best feature of this printer. After registering Epson Connect, I was given a printer email. This feature works printing from remotely when you are not on your home network. I tested this feature few times when I was miles away from my house and printed few documents using the app on my phone. Overall: This is excellent printer, it prints fast, quality of the prints are great, scanning features are great. Overall size of the printer could be smaller, but if you have the office it should not matter. Smartphone printing one of the best feature of any printer. Great All-In-One

First off I’d like to mention how easy set up for this Epson Workforce WF-4730 printer was, the touch screen display basically walks you through setup step by step making things simple, and if you’ve set up any printer before you shouldn’t have any problems with this one. The packaging on the product is great too for a larger printer. The size doesn’t bother me since my prior outdated printer was a bit of a clunker to begin with, but the bulkiness of it may scare some off at first. A feature I love is the ability to print from my smartphone!! I can’t tell you how handy this is and will be for myself, and my on the go family! The USB direct print option will also be a huge time saver as well!! Another feature I loved was scanning, it was easy to scan and save documents directly as PDF, which is the format most of my scanning is saved as. Scans looked clear on the review screen on my computer. Fax capability could be a plus for some, I personally don’t use that feature from home, but I’m sure it’s nice to have for many. Two trays and double side printing I think will come in handy in the future for us as well, I’ve never had this on a printer at home. I haven’t had it long enough to know how long an ink cartridge will last, but hopefully this will have a long life before needing replacement! I always find this as my main issue with printers, so I’m curious to see. I also am looking forward to trying to print some summer photos from home on this machine. So far I’d recommend this printer for home or office use, it will be sufficient for our needs of printing, copying, scanning and then some (faxing). Many people think of Epson as the premier printing-needs company and this product reaffirms just this. From the moment the box is opened, you see the time spent by Epson to optimize the printer setup experience. The printer packaging is done in a way that you don’t have to waste 5 minutes trying to remove the printer without breaking any Styrofoam, tearing any plastic bags, or shimmying the printer out of the box. The actual “installation” process is nothing more than turning on the printer and installing the appropriate drivers. While Epson includes a CD for this latter purpose, I would recommend just downloading the latest drivers off their website. From there, wireless setup was a 60 second breeze with a large touchscreen pictorially guiding you through every step. From opening the box to my first print it took about 10 minutes. This sleek and sturdy printer does everything a home office or small business printer needs to do. At reasonably fast speeds, this printer prints in full color, double sided and practically edge to edge. While they certainly aren’t photo quality prints, they still exceed all expectations I had of the product. Changing print settings and all other interactions with the printer display are fabulously intuitive and effortless. In terms of scanning, the printer does a decent job but doesn’t have the capacity or speed of my dedicated scanner, which is unfortunate. Copies look amazing, though there is some slight color degradation. Overall, the compact but simple design and fast-functionality characteristics of this all in one make it a great addition in my office space. At first glance, this printer meets all expectations and then some. Only time will tell, however, how reliable it is. *This is a review for the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 All-in-One Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

I have been using the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4730 for a little while now and have been nothing but impressed with its printing. The quality and speed are incredible. It is also amazingly quite. I was printing a 30 page document the other day and my wife kept asking if I was going to print it. She was a little ways away from it, but even siting right next to it, I can barely hear the print head move back and forth. It was also really quick. I have had some older printers that I set the print quality down pretty low and gotten this sort of speed, but not nearly the quality and quietness. Scanning was also quite easy to do and save to any location I wanted on my computer. The setup was quite easy finish as well. I have had a time with many printers I install, and that’s a lot as a System Admin. The first attempt did actually have an issue, but I found the problem was that I had 2 different wireless networks, and the printer was on one while my laptop was on the other. Other than that, it is a very nice printer overall. I am now considering purchasing a few more for my company. The only thing I have really found wrong with the printer is the software to scan. It wasn’t really made for scanning pictures easily. You can of course tell it a custom size, but it would be nice to have the defaults for something like a 4x6 picture when scanning. I realize this is more of a business printer, but I to like to use it for both work and personal. Documents scanned with a breeze though. Overall, I would let anyone know this is a much better printer than I have used in the past. Since this is a review from a unit I received for free, I don’t think I can tell the other brands I have used, but it has been many of the top ones.
