The worst radar in the market
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the radar and drove cross country from west to East and back, The radar was 60 percent accurate when picking up signals. Not a reliable product at all. I would not recommend this garbage to anyone. The asking price is absolutely ridiculous for how inaccurate it was. Not something I would buy ever again not recommend to my worst enemy.

Posted .We're sorry to hear about the poor experience you had with MAX 3. Several tips that may help are:
1) Make sure you have the latest firmware installed. We release firmware updates to help reduce false alerts from vehicles with radar based collision avoidance systems.
2) Use Auto SEN mode. This will automatically change the sensitivity level based on your vehicle's speed.
3) Enable K Notch in the detector's preferences menu.

Radar review- not worth the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does not work appropriately - it tends to fail in most cases and provides false alarms
No, I would not recommend this to a friendBrand response from Escort- Cedar Electronics Team
Posted .Be aware that it will learn and ignore false alerts. After 3 passes by a false alert you will notice a Stored message on the MAX 3. The next time you encounter this signal, MAX 3 will not audibly alert to it and it will show on the display in grey. Any other radar signals in the area will be alerted to normally.
Use Auto SEN mode to reduce false alerts. Select the SEN mode by repeatedly pressing the SEN button.
There is also a K Notch setting in the settings band enables menu which helps reduce K band false alerts from vehicles with radar based collision avoidance systems.

It's okay, but still lots of glitches
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not really impressed. Lots of glitches with Escort live and the detector, and no one really used Escort live, so you don't really share any alerts. Disappointing. And I don't like the way Escort handles their customers. Too bad...really wanted to like it.

Early warning that works for several things
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You can simply mount it, plug it in and go and it will do an outstanding job. But if you take the time to learn what all it will do and the options it offers it’s an even better investment. I’ve owned a few radar detectors over the last 32 years and this is by far the best one. To get the most out of the Max 3 you need to download the user manual, Detector Tools Pro and the Escort Live app. This review is to tell you how well the product works and highlight the features but not how to set it up and use it. The quick setup guide will do that. You will need to read the manual because there’s not enough space for me to cover everything in this review. The Max 3 is the entry level unit of the Max series of radar detectors. It is equipped with GPS which allows it to know where you are as well as your speed and the location of redlight and speed cameras and to work with the app and let you mark where false alerts are as well as adding redlight cameras and such. It uses Bluetooth to connect to a smartphone for using the app and it has a micro USB port used for updating the unit’s software. Max 3 comes with a suction mount, “smart” power cord and case. The suction mount has a sticky cup and when put on a clean windshield it’s not coming off when locked. However, when unlocked it’s easy to remove by pulling the little tab on the cup. The Smart power plug has a push button (used to mute and mark location, see manual), Red and Green LEDs to show power and alerts, curly cord and modular RJ11 connector that plugs into the unit. The RJ11 snaps into the unit and can’t be pulled out but the curly cord is too short and can pull the power plug loose to where it will lose connection in certain situations like it did in my wife’s CR-V. The power port is mounted vertical in the console and after several miles and some rough road I noticed the detector was off. Reseating it restored power. Eventually it worked loose again. The power port I used in my Ridgeline is horizontally mounted and didn’t give any problems. Escort offers a direct connect power cord that includes a little mountable module with the button and power / alert indicators if you want a more permanent wiring solution. You can buy an extra suction mount too. The Max 3 performed well in alerting us to police with active radar as well as to radar door openers. I did learn locations of false alarms as the places with radar door openers stopped triggering it. You can also use the button on the power plug, detector or app to tell it a false alert. It notes the GPS coordinates and ignores the signal at that location. X band and K band only. Does it note the signal strength? I don’t know. Would a police radar in a marked area override that false flag for that area? I don’t know. I can only say for sure that Ka Band and Laser will according to the manual. Pressing the button on the power plug once will mute the alert. The OLED display is bright and easy to read. It shows posted speed, your speed, Radar type when detected and signal strength. It can be set to show other info or none at all. Volume can be set as well as muted and silent alerts. You can set speed alarms to alert you if you go over a set speed, posted speed and “cruise” speed. Note that the posted speeds that are shown may not be consistently accurate and out of date. I noticed that in several locations. There’s also an option dash cam that can be used with it. The manual describes the alert tones and options for changing them. What is shown in the display and how to change it. It explains what RF bands different radars use and different ways the display can show alerts. Say a signal strength bar and radar type used or as simple as “Slow Down” and “Caution”. It explains laser and how it works. Using the app will let you change all these settings very easily. The app’s primary purpose seems to be for sharing where redlight cameras, speed cameras, police and other alerts are. It can show alert history and the dashboard panel looks like a speedometer showing speed and posted speed. And routing and changing settings as mentioned earlier. The app has some bugs they need to fix. Note my wife was driving when I used the app to review it. When using the app the map would disappear to a white screen after 10 minutes or so of use. Going to the app dashboard and back didn’t restore it. Closing the app and reopening it restored the map temporarily. Even when I closed the app the notification bar showed it as still active. Pulling down and touching the notification had no response. I had to go to settings and stop the app manually. You have to have Location (GPS) turned on on your phone to use the app correctly. The app also uses a lot of power and will drain your phone’s battery. Probably want to plug your phone into the charger when using the app for any length of time. Then there’s the subscription. I never could figure out if it was a must to use the redlightcam, speedcam database part of the app. That’s $25 a year. My conclusion is that for the money it is a quality product and does what it’s supposed to do very well. However some things like the short curly cord and the buggy app detract from the system. Are they deal breakers? That is for you to decide. They wouldn’t be for me but that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. A power cord that can come unplugged turning the unit off will make it useless defeating its purpose. You can stretch it out tight and use a heat gun to loosen the it up but you shouldn't have to with a $400 product.

Junk
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nowhere as good as uniden. Not as loud Not as long range Give false alarm all the time I was out in a field on a ranch and the laser alarm was going off.

Posted .Try turning off AutoMute to make the alerts louder. AutoMute is on be default and turns the volume down a few seconds after the initial alert.
For the longest detection range on all signals, make sure you are using Highway SEN mode. Disabling TSR in bands will also increase K band range but may increase K band false alerts as well.
Laser false alerts are not common. One device which will cause laser alerts is Face ID on some smartphones. These phones use the same laser as police so the detector cannot distinguish between them. Moving the phone away from the detector should help.
If your phone is not causing the laser alerts and you continue to regularly receive them, please contact us at 800-543-1608, option 2 on the menu.
I hope this helps!

There is also an Auto Power setting which will shut off the detector after the specified period of time. If you are experiencing different behavior then contact us at 800-543-1608.

Late Detections

Posted .We are sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Max 3. It's important to note that it will not alert unless officers are actively using/transmitting radar in the area, and alerts will be shorter if the radar is being transmitted away from you. Oftentimes, they are not transmitting, which explains the lack of alerts. If you are not receiving any alerts, there may be metal embedded in the car's windshield, which can block signals. Feel free to reach out Escort Support for help!

Posted .Make sure the top of the detector has a clear view of the sky. Also, some vehicles have metallic coated windshields which can prevent a GPS signal from entering the vehicle. Most have areas clear of this coating where you can mount the detector.

Posted .We're sorry to hear that it is not what you were expecting. Using Auto SEN mode will help reduce false alerts. Also it will take a few passes by fixed location false alerts (like automatic door openers) before it learns and ignores them. Be aware that police do not always transmit radar and laser. The detector will only alert when they are transmitting.

Garbage
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Zero stars. This piece of garbage doesn’t work with late model BMW’s because the tip on the power adapter isn’t long enough. I called Escort and they have know about this issue for years yet still say it’s “compatible” with BMW’s. I will be returning this item.

Great Updated Radar Detector for 2020
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Escort Max 3 Radar Detector is exactly what I needed. I am a real estate agent and I find myself driving into new neighborhoods all the time and this device already in a week has saved me probably 3 tickets. Max 3 is smart, intuitive, and a perfectly updated radar detector for 2020. The App is easy to use and took me less than a few minutes to setup. The Max 3 came with a nice carrying case. The sticky pad for the mount is very sturdy and secure and the magnet mount on the device itself is especially nice for easy on and off removal. I love the mute button on the power plug and the devices ability to learn false readings. Over the past week we drove 400 miles to Georgia for a wedding and the Max 3 helped us throughout the entire trip. The app is community based like Waze and allows you to inform other drivers as well as receive real time alerts for Air Patrol, Red light cameras and local speed traps. It displayed the local speed limit on our radar detector as well. Overall I am very very happy with the Max 3 so far and am delighted to have it in the car for foreseeable future and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great detector with bluetooth functionality and a solid travel community based travel app.

Fake radar.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s horrible. I taught that was an actual radar that’s alerted you of Cops and all. It’s unfortunately not. I’d not recommend anyone to buy this piece of junk. I’ll be returning it soon.

Posted .Our detectors can and do alert to the presence of police radar/laser being used in the area. Of course, the officer must be actively transmitting one of these for the detector to alert to it. It will not detect police or police cars, and does not transmit radar itself. We hope this provides some clarity for how these devices work. Thanks!
