    Great detector

This radar detector works great. I have been using it for a while in all types of environments and it has a good balance of covering false alarms but warning of upcoming traps. On the highway it seemed to alert me over a mile away from anything that was coming up. If anything you have to be mindful of it because it takes a while to get to the alert and you can get distracted by other drivers and forget the alerts coming up. In the city it has some false alarms but not many. It seems to cover them well and the ones it doesn't aren't to much of a problem. The camera warnings are nice also. They give you plenty of time to adjust and give you a distance to the camera. The auto power feature is nice and I intend on hardwiring the unit into my vehicle so it will be great that it turns off and on when the car is in motion or not. The one complaint I have is the suction cup will not stay attached to my windshield for any long amount of time. I have tint on it which I'm not sure if that is making it worst but I come out in the morning regularly and the cup has fallen off even without the detector hanging from it. It's definitely a problem I'll have to figure out. Overall its a great unit that will save money in the long run

There is a lot of technology packed into this little unit. When connected to a smartphone, the setup is very easy and there are numerous ways in which the device can be configured. The display can even change colors to match the interior displays in your car. The suction cup for the window adheres very well and the device uses a magnetic connection that makes it easy to remove the device, yet keep the mount in place on the window. One interesting caveat is that the device requires 12 volts, which cannot be delivered via a USB port. Therefore, it is important to make sure you have a cigarette lighter plug (maybe it's called something else now, but I'm old school) in your car or some type of 12 volt adapter. The device includes a cigarette lighter adapter, but there is an option to purchase a hardwire kit, which is something I would probably recommend as the existing cord running from the device on the window across the dash is unsightly, in my opinion. There is also the ability to add a dash cam to the unit, which is a nice feature (although the dash cam is forward facing only, it does not record the cabin in the vehicle, nor does it have the ability to record behind the vehicle). Obviously, this is not a review of the dash cam, but it is an add-on that can be purchased. As far as performance is concerned, the unit works with a database that helps to eliminate false alarms. When driving by dynamic speed limit signs in my area, the unit does not activate or indicate any radar in the area. I assume that is because the database knows there is a speed limit sign there, but I cannot help but wonder what would happen if an officer were to run radar at that exact spot. The device is supposed to pick up different radar bands and laser as well, although I admittedly have not come across many officers running speed enforcement yet, so the jury is still out. It also is a little off on the speed at which my vehicle is traveling, at least in comparison to my speedometer (it reads just a little slower than actual). When used in conjunction with an application like Waze, however, I feel the unit provides an extra layer of protection against speed traps and other speed enforcement activities. If I could rate in half stars, I would probably give this unit 4.5 stars as I am not quite sure how well it performs yet as I have not seen any officer while I have been driving with the unit. As it is right now, however, I rounded up to 5 stars as the unit has yet to give me a false alarm and the integration with a smartphone application is a nice feature.

This is an excellent product. It detects all the radar, but sometimes become too noisy for false alerts in the city.

    Powerful Detector with Issues

I haven't owned a radar detector for years, so I was excited to test the newest technology to see how far they have advanced. Escort put a lot of thought into this device, but unfortunately, it doesn't as well as I had hoped. I immediately installed the latest software to make sure that I was taking advantage of the newest updates. The radar detector pairs easily with the mobile application, which is handy to have for GPS and data tracking capabilities. The application allows for speed limits to be displayed on the device, but the data is often inaccurate. I tested this on side roads, where I would expect some data to be missing or inaccurate, but it was also inaccurate on state highways. I tested its functionality on 8 or more trips and it only went off a total of three times. One time was the X band and was likely due to an alarm system. It quickly sorted that out and dismissed it almost immediately. The next two times were the K band, where I wasn't able to see a police car anywhere near me. I also passed a local deputy squad car and it did not detect anything from that vehicle. Keep in mind, there is always a chance that I just haven't encountered any police officers using their radar devices. I will await the next software update and continue to use the device. The specifications are very good for this detector.

    Works well, no wifi

Overall, this is seems to be a good detector that does what it says it will. Full disclosure, this is my first radar detector so I don’t have as much to compare to. My comparisons are based somewhat on other in car devices, like dash cams With the dash cam (and just general state of current technology today) I’m not impressed that this model doesn’t come with wifi compatibility. This is already a pricey item and I have to pay for the upgraded one just to get wifi? Without that, any software/firmware updates have to be done by removing from the car and connecting to a computer. Not a fan of that at all and that’s the reason for the 4 stars. That being said, this does work and work well. I live in California and everyone knows about our CHP right? (CHiPs?) They’re good and sneaky. This detector has been able to pick them up when I’m driving on the freeway and on country highways. That’s the main thing I wanted and it does it. The app is eh. Kind of confusing, lots to learn and things you can tweak but it’s also not necessary to use most of that. The default settings do their job and as you get more used to it you can do more minute adjustments to fit your needs. Overall it’s a cool and effective piece of tech. The lack of wifi is a bit of an inconvenience but not a showstopper.

As someone who has used this technology in the past, and has been a user of other Escort products, I was excited to try the new MAX 360 MKII. As with all products like this, it's not an excuse to speed, and if you get pulled over with one of these hanging on the dashboard... you're MORE likely to get ticketed if you're going over the speed limit. With that out of the way, the insurance provided here let's you avoid many situations that could create liabilities. The GPS lockout feature that cuts down on repeated false alerts is a fascinating new feature that I'm enjoying on this product. The brightness of the screen bring adjustable, and a color LCD is a modern update to the tried and true design. Directional arrows are helpful, but not always reliable. The mounting system has also been updated from the flimsy two 1-inch suction cups in the past to a much more reliable mount that the detector clips out of at a moment's notice. The included power cord is nicely made, but based on my desired installation, I wish it was a little bit longer, or I had an option to swap it out for a non coiled one that is longer.

I wouldn't buy this from Bestbuy. Purchased for Christmas present, post office sent item back for slight damage on box. Never had a chance to see the item but Best Buy wouldn't send it back nor honor their sale for something I purchased. They did send my money back to my card a week after incident was not happy

Thank you for your review. Please keep in mind that radar must be running in order for your detector to provide an alert. It is likely that the officer was not running radar.
