    The best Escort so far

I have the special edition 9500IX the pink/white. The last radar detector I owned was a Escort 7500. This so far has been great. GPS is a excellent feature and you can mark where there are speed traps and camera lights. Once you mark these locations you can download on your computer and sync with other users marked locations so you are always up to date. This detector also has the new "POP" feature where a law enforcement officer just pulls a trigger on the radar gun and the Escort will catch that. Of course law enforcement is not suppose to issue tickets when just using pop radar, but do you trust them, I don't. When a alarm does go off it shows your speed @ that time on the display. When you do hook up to the computer you can also pick and choose what features you want on your detector and it has a default setting also. I have used this detector for around a week and so far gives me plenty of time to slow down when a alarm goes, off. And with the GPS feature if the detector notices a false alarm 3 times in the same place it will automatically delete that false alarm so it will not go off again.

    No more Tickets

I ran out to best buy and picked this sucker up after getting a $215 ticket. I have been using this radar for over a year. It is the best on the market. I speed all the time. I recommend you read the book before operating this eqiupment. Most COPS use Ka Bands. In the smaller and poorer towns I drive through they use K band... but some buildings with alarms also send out K band signals. It explains some of this in the book. This detector is able to pick up Ka bands from a little over 1 mile out. I got that off my mileage reader from picking up a Ka band and finding the Cop hiding behind an overpass, that rat. There is no other radar on the market that will pick up signals from that distance out. Only one complaint about mounting this thing. It works great in my mustang but sucks in my truck because of the angle of the windshield. It flops around in the truck...I have to bend the metal mount to make it fit so it does not flop around. If you read some other reviews about pluging this thing into your CPU for an update... that attachment does not come with the radar. You have to buy it. Bottom line, I have not had I ticket in over a year since the purchase of this detector and I drive a lot. Worth every cent.

I purchased this item for the same reason that most do, and I will tell you even if I have taken off the windshield and forgot to put it back up this will still pick up readings if it is sitting in my console. This is a great item for the money I would recommend it. This has really paid for itself in tickets and aggravation.

    Awesome Detector

This is an awesome detector. I have ran it in my car in highway mode for about a month now. I love the GPS feature because the amount of false alerts is decreasing over time. I also like the fact that it can display my vehicle speed while I'm driving. The mute feature is useful also. I have been alerted early enough of actual police cars that are targeting vehicles which I love. The volume is plenty loud & the auto display brightness works well. I actually use the provided suction cups and they have worked fine for me (50-100F) in my 02 Saturn SL1. I have not tested the suction cups in cold weather. The 9500ix is worth the price. I look forward to using it on my road trip to FL.

    Just short of excellent

My two cents: I bought this unit so I could get updates for traffic light cameras, speed traps and hopefully prevent a speeding ticket. The unit itself is excellent and super sensitive. I would recommend leaving it in highway mode by default. When it goes off, you will be looking around for the cops long before you actually see them (the unit is really that sensitive). The only warning is the bands - by default it's set to disable X band but I would enable that. I have run across two cops recently here in Miami that were using X band, even though it's supposed to be outdated tech. I gave it four stars instead of five because of the lack of support for Apple OSX (Macintosh). Something that costs this much money should support both Windows and Mac.

    EXCELLENT RADAR DETECTOR!

I was skeptical when I was looking for a radar to purchase. But, after owning this radar for over a year, I must say that the amount of money it has saved me from tickets have paid for itself. This device is so simple and easy to use - literally plug and play. What makes it so great is its ability to detect foreign radars from quite a distance. To this day, it has saved me from 35 speeding tickets and counting. Thank you Escort for this wonderful device.

Hello I picked up this detector to replace my V1 detector which was driving me crazy with false alerts. I have noticed that it has great range and blocks out every automatic door at the stores unlike the v1 which pointed out everyone. I am really happy with my purchase!

I brought this radar detector about 8 months ago. The price kepted me thinking for weeks should I get it or not. Well once I tried it out I love this radar detector. It will pick up an police radar 2 miles down the highway. Gives you enough tym to react and slow down. I love the red light and speed camera database also. Now they have up their game again with Escort Live. I liked this radar detector so much I brought my wife one the next day and they are the best. You get wat you pay for.You will love this radar detector.

    Excellent Radar Detector!!

I recently purchased the 9500 for a road trip of the Southwest. I would have to say that the radar detector more than paid for itself during this trip alone. We were able to make excellent time to all of our destinations "ticket free"! The only thing missing from this radar detector is the ability to tell what direction the source of the signal is coming from like its' competitor the Valentine. However, we did make it into a little bit of a game anytime there was a detection. The price is a bit steep, but well worth it in my eyes. The speed camera sensor was excellent as well, however a bit more documentation on what all the wording on the screen means (i.e. speedtrap is descriptive but a nice little blurb about what the detector constitutes as a speed trap would be kinda nice)!

    Not worth the money

I purchased the 9500ix hoping the false alarms would be greatly decreased given the price of the unit. After having an old cobra unit (5 yrs old) I was looking to upgrade. Nope, went off in the exact same areas and provided the exact same coverage the old cobra unit did. Yeah I can add the location and radar type so that it never goes off again, but what if someday there's a cop there shooting the same radar???? BUSTED! It was nice that you can download updates, but my GPS already did that for the redlight camera so it was redundant. Overall a nice amount of features, but no reason to go out and spend $450.00 of your hard earned cash when the $150.00 model does the exact same of detecting.....and thats what we really purchase these units for anyway. Unit was returned for a full refund (Thanks Best Buy).

I've been an officer for over 17 years and this is BY FAR the best detector ever. I have never pulled anybody over and come to find out there was a passport 9500ix in the vehicle. Recently, a few of my buddies and I tested the top 5 on the market using our radar guns. The Passport detected us way before any of the others we tested. If everybody owned one, I probably would never have to write a speeding ticket again. It's that great

    Great Detector, poor customer service

This detector is very sensitive, the false detection systems work well, I like the feature of the mute button being on the power cable and easy to find. and the ability to update the detector's software through the INTERNET is VERY USEFUL. I had issues with their customer service. the detector would not "lock" onto the windshield mount after being in the sun and depressing the unlock button while the detector is very hot from being exposed to the sunshine in Florida. They insisted that they have NEVER had this problem. This happened TWICE to two NEW detectors that were barely two weeks old. Best Buy's customer service came to the rescue and replaced the detector (s). IF it were not for BEST BUY, I would not still be an escort customer.

So Far So Good Except for Red light Camera

I passed two red light cameras to and from Beloit and it didn't alert me at all The directions indicate that it is reaqdy for use right out of the package but I will plug it in via usb and update red light camera database and see if this helps. Sometimes I wonder if it is even working because it hardly alerts but this is a good thing that it's not throwing a bunch of false signals. However, it would be nice if it powered itself off and on when car starts and turns off instaed of having to push button to power on and off all the time. I still think the price is outrageous but if you are an on the go mom that multitasks 20 things at a tiome and always need spare minutes this helps.

I just bought this radar today after getting a speeding ticket this morning. I've gotten alot of speeding tickets in the past and if i was smart i would have gotten this along time ago its not about the money its the loss of time the blue display is crystal clear and what i like is the speed it tells u how fast ur going. I live in comal county not to mention all the traps they do in san antonio tx. So guys and girls i did my research on this one compared to Valentine 1 why in the world would u pay high price for old technology Bottom line no more speeding tickets. Thanks for reading this awesome review

    Radar detector works great

Radar detector works well. I drive mainly 90% on interstate and detector can pick up radar hits about 3 to 4 miles ahead. I have beem shot with laser twice but have not been pulled over. Some police know how to get around detectors because they turn off there radar and then if youre on the highway alone theyll turn on radar and shoot you and by then its too late.

Best Detector Ever, if you know how to use it...

I love this detector. I have been a loyal Escort customer for 25 some odd years now, and I wouldn't trust any other brand. Their new 9500ix was a bit intimidating to me at first, what with all the new bells and whistles, but the Best Buy sales lady assured me it was very user-friendly. I took it home, read through the manual, and then called Escorts customer service just to be sure I was using it correctly. As usual, Escorts service team was top-knotch; incredibly friendly and patient in walking me through the most difficult part (which ended up not being difficult at all) which is the download process. I too am a retired police officer, for 50+ years. After reading his comment I decided to take my new 9500ix down to the station to do a few 'field tests' of my own, along with 3 of my cop buddies. The Escort 9500ix excelled in ALL tests. One of my buddies owns a Cobra detector, and he was so impressed by the 9500ix's performance he says he's throwing his in the trash and buying an Escort tonight! Moral of the story; don't let one bad review give you any reservations about this new product. Go try it yourself and see how great it really is! I wouldn't trade my new detector for the world. I will continue to be a loyal Escort customer for years to come. I can't wait to see what they come up with next!

The radar works great but I don't like Escort and their Database Subscriptions. You only get 90 days of updates with your purchase, after that you need to buy a Subscription code. Now I don't have a problem paying for a subscription to get updates for 3 years for $30. But why on earth do we have to pay $4.50 Shipping to have Escort mail a subscription code in the mail? I was going on a trip and didn't have time to wait for a piece of paper with a code on it to be mailed to me. This isn't 1980 anymore, get with the program Escort, you can email your subscription codes once they are purchased. But we all know it's a simple plot to make an extra $4.50 on Shipping for every database subscription sold. Give me a break they can't email codes out. What a joke!

    Be prepared

I purchased this 06/09/15, read the reviews and was sold on it, due to me purchasing the new 2015 mustang, the first 3 weeks I thought it was the best purchase I've made, besides my car of course. I had my doubts though, as in why would a civillian, be able to speed, then slow down due to the alert going off ahead of time. And it's sold at a U.S. retail store. It'd pick up alerts 2-3 miles away, beep at me like crazy and I'd never see the actual officer/trooper. A couple times you could tell it picked up live radar. But then, everything became reality in a matter of minutes. Don't believe you are outsmarting these law enforcement officers, if the marked vehicle is moving, it picks up commuter's speed, but just think hard about this right now. The officer, isn't actually taking radar himself/herself it's automatic, yes they have the option of turning it on or off. But then bam, take my turbo baby out on a nightly stroll like normal. Roads are clear, mpg's at the highest. Then, coming upon a traffic light, I pull up next to this newer model Camaro, and every guy should know that Mustang and Camaro go head to head when held in comparison. But first let me say, I accept full responsibilty of my choices of speeding, I would not blame it on the radar detector. It's still my choice if I speed or not, which I do occasionally 5-10 over. I usually just accelerate fast up to the speed limit, instead of moving consistently at high speeds, (basically just cruising going over the speed limit continuously) but I just like the pure power. So I give in, wanted to show off my pony, and win of course. I mean, who likes to lose? But I am young, early 20's, no my parents didnt buy me all this stuff. It's my hard earned money, 21 years old I walk off the lot with a brand new mustang. Of course i'm going to show that baby off, and what it's made of. So right after the light turns green, I dont hesitate, I have a automatic but I do have manual gear shifters on my steering wheel, boom at 60 mph within 6 seconds, I cover a lot of distance fast, I mean, it's a turbo. Butttt I just want to go for the glory shot and blow away the camaro, which I was doing pretty easily, I look up at my speed, going about 90, started from 0 just a few seconds before that, I just happen to look to my right, well hello officer, my heart sank, night time, was actually camping and taking radar, WITH A RADAR GUN THAT IS NOT DISCOVERABLE! I think i'm going to jail, getting a wreckless driving ticket, $1000 fine. The speed limit was 35, but not once did my radar detector signal during that whole process. So right as he was pulling behind me, I already pulled over and waited for him, I stashed my radar detector away, some states that can legally take it away right then and there. First thing he says after asking how fast I was going, he mentions the radar detector, it was stashed before he got out of his car, night time, I have tinted windows too. But I mostly was not angered at this device, not at all, just disapointed in myself. Was prepping my bail while he was walking up, lol. But the cop was not aggressive, in some way or another, he understood. Didn't say the amount of trouble I could be in, none of that. Wanted to know if I was stopped at the light up there, advised yes, he said not bad, then asked me what year it was and all. All i got was the speeding ticket, not wreckless driving, etc. If any of you read this long story, the reason I'm doing it, is just to save you money. We will never have legal tech, that out performs law enforcement. If you buy this anyway, it could be good, for sleek looks, but who spends this amount of money on a radar detector, if they have no intentions of going higher than the limit. If you start to feel content and secure while driving with this device, just listen to this, it could possibly save you at least $600 in the near furture, depending on how much you went over. Court costs if you're going to fight it, fines, most places you get charged with wreckless driving if going 20+, loss of license right there, fees soaring over $1000, can't forget about your insurance premium, just really look into everything, about the device, how it picks up signal, but if you're stubborn, this is one of the only few less than great reviews, so I'm in the minority. But those who do take this review, and decide against this purchase, will most likely prevent the lost of $$$$$$$$
