Customers are positive about the Passport 9500ix Radar Detector's impressive range, accurate radar detection, and ease of use. Many appreciate its performance and the helpful GPS features, while also finding the price reasonable for the features offered. However, some customers reported experiencing false alarms, and a few had issues with the mount's stability. Overall, the positive feedback on key features outweighs the negative comments regarding minor drawbacks.

Great radar detector for the price

I had an old cobra detector that finally quit after several years and decided to upgrade to the escort passport 9500xi. When it went on sale, I couldn't pass it up. So far, this radar detector does everything it's advertised to do and has far less false alerts. Plus I can easily turn off the x band. I drive a lot of rural highways and freeways and this detector picks up the signals a good distance away.

I've tried the Max and Max 2, I still like this radar detector the best of all of them. Easy to read display, I think it's more accurate than the newer ones. Great distance.

I bought this after getting a speeding ticket, naturally. To this day, I've never gotten another one, although I usually only do 5MPH over the limit like most people.
When mounted properly, this unit will alert you to radar and laser from a fairly decent distance away. I've had it start picking up radar almost a mile away on an open stretch of road before. I like that it comes with the Smart Cord, so you're easily able to mute the sound without having to fiddle with the buttons on the unit itself.
My only gripe with this unit is that it doesn't have any of the IVT Filtering that Escort now offers, which is used to filter out In Vehicle Technology such as Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warnings, Front and Rear Collision Assist, etc. All of those technologies use radar to function, so they will set this detector off every time you get close to them, so there's a lot of false positives. I can't take a star off for that though, since Escort wasn't really implementing IVT Filtering into their units at the time of purchase.
All in all, I'm satisfied with the unit, for what I paid for it. If you're looking for a reliable, affordable unit; this is the unit for you!

I just plugged it in and am learning as I go about the different bands. It is very easy to use plug it in and go. It has warned me many times already with plenty of time to slow down. Love the marking feature so when you go by the same place all the time it doesn't go off every time.

This detector replaced an Escort 8500. OMG, what a difference! It works so much better, far better range over the 8500. The 8500 was a great improvement over my old one, but this one is even better. Most importantly, with far less false alarms. The few false alarms get stored, to never be heard again. I put the 8500 in my other car, and I can't stand it. I bought another 9500.

Best on the Market

According to all consumer reports, this is the best radar detector on the market - for the price. It replaced an older unit that was, as they say, "past it." The new Escort has infinitely better detection and covers a much broader spectrum of radar. It even includes warnings for those pesky red light/speed cameras. It may cost a little more than other brands, but it's worth it.

I live 13 miles out of town and typically don't speed but I purchased the Passport 9500ix for the few times I do. I have had it for a couple months and am impressed. When the Ka band alerts it has been accurate. Not too may false alerts. Have used in the Auto mode so far and haven't tried the other modes. The auto sound reduction has been very nice. I would buy again.

I'm a long time escort fan, I upgraded to this from the x50. The GPS is fantastic, brightness and volume settings are easy to use and very handy, and the option to block out X band on auto mode is amazing. Hands down one of the best radar detectors out there (the other one being the v1) - yes it is better than all of the other higher end escorts, just read all the bad reviews on the newer ones. Enough of the praise, let me elaborate on the 2 things that I have a problem with - 1) no directional arrows. This one is obvious, but it's the only drawback to this detector when compared to the v1. The GPS makes up for it, as I live in a city area and can't deal with the v1's constant false signals. 2) It starts beeping before it alerts you of what band it is, and the screen only displays your speed for the first few seconds (before it shows which band). This is cool, but I have a speedo for that and I'd rather automatically see what band I'm getting hit with because police in my area only use Ka. That being said, there is a distinct sound for Ka vs the other bands and you will pick up on it after a few days/weeks of use. All in all, after my drive to Maryland this weekend this product has already paid for itself. JUST BUY IT.

Although there are more expensive radars on the market, you will not really find a better product if what you are looking for is great radar detection! The ability to update this radar with various speed traps and red light cameras is a definite plus. Great GPS to show how fast you are traveling as well. I purchased at sale price as an added bonus!

The passport 9500ix is fine for most of the time. I had a Valentine One for 10 years and it just died. I thought I would try the highly touted passport for a change and because I could buy it locally and didn't have to order it. Now I'm missing some of the valentine features; multiple alerts, direction of alert. Would prefer the valentine over the passport.

After getting another high-speed driving award I did not feel that I deserved, I set up to buy another detector. What I like about this is it has GPS and learns as you drive . So It automatically eliminates false alarms. It also makes you a better driver in more aware of your surroundings. Yes it's pricey but worth every dime

This is the best detector I've ever purchased. Highly accurate and almost completely eliminates false alarms. Coupled with the Escort Live app for Android and I know exactly where the patrols are way ahead of detection.

Reliable unit that has saved me more than a few times from some hefty tickets...well worth the money. The only downside is if they are using laser, then you are alerted once they have already "caught" you...but as for standard radar on the road, this unit warns you with plenty of time to react.

This unit has tons of features to prevent you from being ticketed. It help me quite a bit on some cross country drives and it did pay for itself. However it was so good that I returned it to purchase an even higher end model after seeing where the technology is headed.
