I had a Cobra DSP9200BT that after 6 months became a brick that was locked in a "laser alert" warning the second it was turned on and never would stop, so I returned to the 2 year old Cobra Vendetta SLR600 that the bricked one replaced. But the windshield mount broke, and I had been using a large weighted pad mount on the dash. That was fine, but made some noise, and the false alerts on the detector were getting worse. Especially after I bought a new car with the various radar safety features. It would go off in my garage as soon as I started the car, or as soon as I pulled in when backing in to park it. So I got this to try. The good - you can change the color of the LED display. My son loved that feature, as he's a fan of red. So we made it red. App synced up easy enough as well, but that's one of the reasons I returned it. I had no need to pay for their premium features, so any time I powered up the detector and opened the app on my iPhone, I had to click through buttons four, five, sometimes 6 times to keep telling it "no thanks" that I don't want to register for premium features. VERY annoying. Then the app had a feature to report an area as a false positive. I have a few stores I go past on my way to work, with radar for the entrance doors I assume, that every detector has always gone off as I drive past. This one, despite all the claims to the contrary, also fell victim to all these false positives too. But the app had a feature to tell it to ignore this one - I had figured it should persist, and remember that next time you drive by the same spot, but it didn't. Why should I go through the hassle to report it as a false positive if it won't "learn" and remember? Then there was all the false positives - more than the older one it replaced. This one was supposed to be better for the passive radar systems that newer cars have, but it was going off randomly for no apparent reason in areas that I didn't even get false alarms normally. And it STILL went off every time I started my car and went to pull out of my driveway, or every time I backed into my garage. So this just wasn't worth the cost at ALL to me. I normally am a proponent of the phrase, "You get what you pay for," but that clearly didn't apply here. I returned it, picked up the $129 Cobra that Best Buy had right next to it, and so far that one, while it lacks the smart app feature, is outperforming this one in every respect, all the places that normally trigger false alarms (those stores on my way to work) did NOTHING this time. Only time it fired off was when I passed a police car with someone pulled over - legitimate radar warning. The Cobra doesn't even go off in my garage. Almost 1/3 of the price and 10 times the reliability...

    Faulty radar detector

bought this product 2 1/2 years ago when it cost almost $400, only use it on the weekends car is garage kept the rest of the week, the sound stopped working about a year and a half but I didn't mind because I used the escort app, but when I reached out to escort customer service to check if they would fix the defect they told me to mail the detector with $40 check. I was not happy to pay $500+ for this radar, when I have already purchased 2 other detectors by ESCORT the X50 and 9500iX which has been working for several years.

    Poor design and long-term reliability

A few years I had the 9500 Passport by Escort and decided to upgrade after the suction cups stopped holding. This caused the radar to literally fly across the car and chip while I was driving. Fast forward about two years and I'm in almost the exact same place with this newer model. The audio cuts in and out - sometimes you'll get a gargled voice alert, sometimes you get nothing in terms of audible alerts. A few months back when I was taking down the radar to store it (so my car doesn't get broken into) the clip that you have to pull down on to release the suction flew backwards and snapped completely off. After going online and seeing the replacement for $30 I got the feeling that this is probably pretty common. Nonetheless I need it because there's no other way to keep the radar up so I ordered it. Now the part of the radar that's supposed to click into the bracket is no longer holding and like the 9500 it constantly comes flying off the clip and across the car as I'm driving. Attempts to reach out to Escort usually end with no reply on their end. For what you spend on a radar that's not acceptable to me and the fact that replacement parts are so high it's like they're getting you coming and going, as they say. You've been forewarned.

Don't buy poor support on false signals

They stop working after two years, nothing but false signals..The radar detectors can't keep up with car technology. Cars that have adaptive cruise and blind spot monitoring will trigger false signals.
