EUFY Got Wireless Surveillance Right!

Anker’s new EUFY security camera system solves just about everything problematic about installing a security camera system.
Cameras with 4K resolution have been available in wired and wireless varieties for a while, but with resolution comes the need for great power. Wired cameras can deliver power with chunkier wiring but wireless cameras, especially the smaller ones, require frequent charging. Charging wireless cameras is an inconvenience at best for internal cameras and is an unreasonable requirement for outdoor cameras. I have an older Arlo system that requires attention almost monthly.
EUFY has attacked the wireless problem using a larger battery in each camera. The USB-C charged batteries are said to be capable of lasting a full year on a single charge. But EUFY has added solar charging panels on the top sides of each camera – and, in theory, with about 2 hours of real sunlight exposure, these cameras are supposed to be able to maintain a full charge indefinitely. Of course, indoor mountings would require updated annual (?) charging. My two cameras have been mounted in full and in restricted sun for over a week now and my cameras have never deviated from full charge (yes, that’s a short time frame...but it’s encouraging).
Everything about the setup here is very intuitive. A smartphone app guides you through recognition of the base unit, updating the firmware, and recognition of the cameras. The cameras mount using an easily configurable mount that requires two attaching screws. My full hardware mounting and software installation took less than one hour.
The base unit will only retain 16GB of stored images and video. But the unit includes a mounting rack that allows you to install a 2.5” SATA hard drive for basically unlimited storage. The 16GB of storage is surely sufficient for a setup with very little expected activity – but I was able to add 1TB of storage for just over $40. See photos.
The 4K camera and powerful rechargeable battery make for a chunky and somewhat heavy camera – but the quality imaging and extended/unlimited (solar charged) battery life are worth any objections you might have to the way these cameras present themselves. See photo.
The cameras capture stunning detail in their images. Daylight images are bright and clear – nighttime images, reduced to B&W for greater image clarity, are surprisingly crisp. When motion detection is in place, the cameras produce IR light to further amplify the image capture. See photo of nighttime capture w/o IR illumination.
The AI associated with the operation of these devices seems to be very smart (e.g., detection of humans vs. leaves falling or cars passing in the periphery of the capture). The alarm siren, when enabled, can vary in strength from annoying to ear-piercing – it can be a real deterrent. The cameras offer two-way audio so that you can communicate with them via the EUFY app.
But probably the most significant reason to recommend this system is that it gives you complete control over the capture and saving of images and video without needing a subscription. You can monitor your cameras remotely and review any captures that might have taken place. Additional protection, including offsite storage, is available if you require that subscription option.
And I need to give them a real shout-out for their app. Every detail about this monitoring system is HIGHLY configurable – but the defaults in the app are sensible and changes are incredibly intuitive. After I turned off the alarm system, I was very pleased with the system's defaults. I will probably wander deeper into the configurations as I get to know the system better.
My system includes two cameras, but the base unit will accommodate up to 16 cameras.
Enthusiastically recommended!!!

eufyCam 3 (S330) 3-cameras 4K system is really flexible with hardware. 4K Wireless Cameras have clear pictures days and nights and can be configured using Infrared or Color or simple Night view. Rechargeable Batteries last forever with Solar Panels. Homebase3 can be configured with wired ethernet or wireless to router. Homebase3 also can add optional hard drive or solid state drive. Software on mobile devices or computer browser work well with many options and features. Each camera can be individually configured and setup differently. Can Create different "Mode" for quick change. Can also create a custom action plan to start recording on all cameras, when a specific camera triggered an alarm. Camera Lights are bright and enable 2 ways communications. Adding additional eufy camera or water sensors take less than a minute.

I really like these, they're fairly easy to set up and install. Video quality is good, they also have a spot light on them. They're a far less expensive option to using cameras provided by home security systems and they can be integrated into my Cove security system. The hub also connects to my eufy doorbell and it has a hard drive and can be expanded with a memory card, thereby eliminating the need for monthly cloud recording fees from other doorbells.

I have to say I am a little disappointed. I set up the Pro version for a friend and added one more S330. Decided to start swapping out my Wyze crap a few weeks later. My buddies system is pretty solid and good motion tracking. Mine however is inconsistent. Will pick up an animal or person most of the time, NOT ALL, and then won’t even track a car pulling in and out of the driveway. Sensitivity is at the highest, I have tried all three battery sendings, no change. I would expect better performance from a camera 4x the cost of a Wyze. My other issue is that there is no way to consistently record with these. Only record when motion is detected…. If… detected. So there is no chance of catches those missed moments the camera can not handle. Night tracking is even worse.
The image quality and build is great, I do think it is superior to many products on the market at this price point. I may add a couple pro versions to see if I can get better results as I believe the Radar increases the capture opportunities significantly.

These are a little pricey but they are great 4K cameras. I got for my son in law. We put one in the front yard and one in the back. The thing about 4K is you can blow it up x4 and still have a clear image. We also like having the built in server/ hard drive. No fees for saving your footage. These cameras are expensive but after having cheap cameras they are worth it. Battery life on these are also great!

I am tired of Arlo's Ultra-4K constant in-app marketing to ask me to subscribe to their cloud storage service and they make local storage super difficult to use. You have to use VPN and set port forwarding. It is a nightmare. I paid a moderately high price of the devices and I still have to pay extra to get basic features. That's bad.
Switching to Eufy is a nice surprise. Much better video quality (clarity and zooming ability). No complexity of browsing video clips. No VPN or tricks are required.
Recently I made a suggestion to improve the "Group Control" feature. They took the advice and implemented that in a week.
Thanks to the hard working smart engineers there.
OK. There are some UI application bugs but they are not show stoppers. Also Eufy did not tell me when the new feature was implemented. There are room for improvement in customer service.

Absolutely blown away by the quality and ease of installation. The 4K resolution is crystal-clear, and the solar panels make battery maintenance a thing of the past. The HomeBase 3 integration is seamless and adds tremendous value. Excellent smart home investment!

Had it for a month now, Really nice great quality cameras including the two way audio with long lasting battery. No complaints here so far, if anything wish I bought this set sooner. Setup and installation was easy as well. Feeling like this is one of my best buys from BEST BUYS

Easy to install, clear images and sound. Easy to connect to my wifi and the best thing is I control the storage without having to pay an added service like with other companies. And with the solar power, its been about 2 weeks and my cameras are still at 100%. So far so good.

I’ve been using the eufy Security eufyCam 3 (the 3-camera kit with HomeBase 3), and it’s been great so far. Here’s my take on it:
What I like:
• The 4K video quality is amazing. Everything is super clear, and you can easily spot small details like faces or license plates.
• It’s solar-powered, so I don’t have to worry about recharging it all the time. As long as there’s some sunlight, the cameras stay charged.
• The setup is super easy since it’s completely wireless. I had all three cameras up and running in no time.
• The HomeBase 3 is a cool addition. It keeps everything stored locally, so I don’t need to pay for cloud storage, and it also has smart AI features that can tell the difference between people, animals, and random motion.
• The cameras are weatherproof, so they’ve handled rain and heat without any problems.
What could be better:
• It’s not cheap. The upfront cost is a bit high, but at least there are no monthly subscription fees.
• If you live in a place with little sunlight, the solar charging might not work as well. You might still have to charge them manually sometimes.
• The AI is good, but I did get a few false alerts in the beginning. Adjusting the detection zones helped.
Overall:
I’m really happy with this setup. It’s reliable, has great features, and the video quality is top-notch. Definitely worth it if you want solid home security without paying for monthly cloud storage.

Great little cameras, easy to install (with the right tools, which I don't have.) I had Geek Squad install them & it went very smooth. Only reason I gave 4 i stead of 5 is that they do lose the wi-fi fairly often, but it comes back.

Cameras are high quality, no subscription fees and decent battery life. The only downside is that the camera is prone to missing events and the respective recordings for those events. When you're operating surveillance cameras, you want them to work when they need to work.
I would not consider these cameras even remotely a substitute for a professional solution utilizing an NVR with continuous recording. Too much reliance on cloud processing to generate events, from what I can gather.
