I have been using a robot vacuum for day-to-day cleaning my carpets for almost a decade now. What started as a niche market, more like a toy rather than a serious cleaning machine, has now grown to be something that’s standard nowadays. And with that now we have many competitors, many features, and capability that has grown useful hundredfold. So when I was able to get my hands on the Eufy Omni E28 - a new take on the all-in-one cleaning machine, I was excited to see how things have changed since I last upgraded by robot vacuum 5 years ago. And boy it didn’t disappoint. After using it quite vigorously for the last 2 weeks or so, here’s what I found works and some of the things could be better. First of all, the Omni E28 is a big “installation”. By that I mean the robot itself is not that big, but the docking station is large. And I was okay with the fact that this is not a charging dock, rather the “service station” for the mobile unit. It is the dust and dirty water collection station for the robot, as well as the source of clean water and detergent for mopping sessions. And furthermore, which is the unique feature Eufy wants to showcase, is the detachable spot cleaner. The top of the station, which houses the water reservoirs (for both clear and dirty water), can be taken out and used as a stand-alone spot cleaner for heavy messes on the carpet etc. It has its own hose and nozzle (which tucks away quite nicely when not in use, under a cover). Eufy includes a spray bottle of the cleaner with the package which is a great touch. Unfortunately the unit needs to be plugged into an outlet. The cable is decent size, but every time I had to take it out to use, I always wondered how great it would’ve been if it were battery powered. Coming back to the main robot - it uses a camera, LiDAR and whatnot to sense the outside world. The first thing after setting it up is mapping the house, and once it has completed this I was amazed how accurate it was. It was able to detect all the rooms, and the carpeted and non-carpeted areas with almost uncanny precision, with the most creepy thing being able to detect my kitchen, office space, and the living room. Yes, it felt uncomfortable, but at the same time there’s a sense of magic. The robot has a flexible bumper on the front, and two extendible brushes that whips out the dust from the corner in front of the main roller for vacuuming. The mop on the rear goes up and down automatically at it detects different surfaces. The setting up and using the robot can be done easily with the smartphone app(s). When I set it up, I downloaded the Eufy Clean app from the Play Store using the included QR code. However I later found that my existing Eufy app can be used as well. I think this needs to be straightened out as who needs two different apps for no reason. The app is well designed and I got the hang of it quickly. The web-based full user manual is decent, but could benefit from some polish in terms of search and navigation. Now the cleaning performance. The vacuum strength is admirable compared to the size of the unit. It does a very good job, and is definitely an upgrade from my older, aging unit. No, it can’t replace a standalone larger vacuum still - it misses a small nook or cranny from time to time, sometimes can’t extract everything from the carpet, but it’s definitely a big help. I treat this as more like a supplementary cleaner and not as a replacement, and this keeps my hopes limited and the outcome agreeable. Same goes for the mopping - instead of deep cleaning every week, I can now space out manual cleaning to every other week, and use the Omni to help me in between. It uses less water than I do, and makes smaller messes with less drying time. The one thing that stuck out like a sore thumb for me is the noise. The noise the robot makes is understandable and I got accustomed to it. It can be made less with using the app and choosing less suction power. However, during the auto empty session, the station makes a really loud noise - enough to wake you up in the middle of the night from one story up (fortunately there’s an option to stop doing so at nighttime). And it does so a number of times. Then, after mopping, it does a mop drying session, which is also not quite. It’s not as loud, but it goes humming for a few hours. This alone can make many people really annoyed, especially in a small home. Overall, I’m pretty impressed with the performance of the Omni E28. I expected a lot, and it didn’t disappoint. It is definitely a big help for everyday cleaning. However, I wish the base station could be made a little less loud.

I had the previous version of this, which was great, but this one -- not only does it clean on auto mode, you also have the option to manually vacuum with the handheld hose. I can finally get rid of my standalone handheld vacuum thanks to this!

Robot vacuums are great when you're too busy to keep up with chores, but all robots to date have always needed supervision and extra guidance to complete tasks. Even though they have sensors to map a room and identify fixed obstacles, they always bump into them several times before getting around them and sometimes get stuck. Maybe it's their bulbous shape or their lack of instructive AI, but they've been failing at their autonomy a lot. With that said, the Omni E28 from Eufy changes the mold for what a robot is capable of and makes the base more than just a charging unit. Eufy splits up their vacuum into 3 parts: the base which is a charging, cleaning unit and storage for liquid concentrate, the robot with roller mop, and the removable spot cleaning unit for spills and stains that require more power to get out. The robot is square shaped with rounded edges which, I believe, makes it easier to get around things. The laser mapping is quick to map the house and automatically identifies rooms making it easier to tweak the map later. It has 2 brushes on each side, with the right one on a swing arm that pops out to get debris out of corners, ingenious! The brush-roll mop is unlike anything I've ever encountered and it's a game changer for mopping and actually scrubbing things clean rather than just spreading liquid from side to side like sliding mops do. The spot cleaner is an entire vacuum system on it's own complete with liquid reservoir, waste water retrieval, and house mounted vacuum arm. It's relatively light weight and go anywhere portability make this a very helpful tool. Suction is very impressive for both units with the base unit capable of spraying liquid and lifting stains then sucking it out, leaving things mostly dry. The AI is great at handling obstacles and rarely bumps into things more than once, if at all. It has an AI mode that allows it to determine where to vacuum, when to mop, and if it needs more passes to get all the dirt. All done without explicit instruction from me which takes the hassle out of it. So far, I haven't found anything that would be negative about this unit's abilities. It's not loud except for when It's on the base station after a run to suck out the waste water and debris. It goes to the base unit more than once when mopping more than one room, but that's likely due to the limited space on the unit. Eufy has done a great job making this robot vac useful and indispensable.

Let's just start with this: The Eufy Omni E28 is a robovac vacuum, mop, and a lift off deep/spot cleaner that all work extremely well! In addition to excellent vacuuming and mopping, the Omni E28 is the best yet at object avoidance, edge cleaning, and surface detection. While it may be a bit pricey, it offers a lot of bang for the buck. Our house is a split level home with tile, wood, linoleum, and carpeted floors, about 1900 sq. ft overall. And dogs, which adds to the challenge. In the past, we've had multiple robovacs, one for each level. While we may continue this approach, the Omni E28 can create multiple maps and gives us the option of using it on each level. The Omni E28 uses both LiDAR and optical camera for object avoidance, and can recognize (via AI) a couple hundred different types of objects. Out of the (really big) box, there is a docking station/lift off cleaner the robovac, two bottles of cleaning fluid, and instructions. No real assemble, but a lot of plastic unwrapping. Fill the water container, add cleaner, and it's ready to go. I already had the Eufy app loaded on my phone, Eufy has a unified app for their security products and robovacs. Bluetooth the robovac to the app, join it to your home wifi, and it's ready to go. First time out, it creates a map of the home, which can be modified when things move. It should be noted that while they store (and use) the map and may use it internally, their privacy policy implies that they will not sell ("share" in privacy policy parlance) your information without your permission. This is increasingly important as the camera guided robovacs are scanning the contents of your home. Programming via the app allows you to clean the whole house, room, a user defined area, or just rugs. The Omni E28 can detect and map rugs, and can be limited to cleaning just those. It can vacuum, mop, or both. When doing both, it will recognize rugs and only vacuum them. You can create multiple maps, which I plan to do for the different levels of our house. This does involve manually moving the robovac. While I didn't try the lift-off cleaner extensively, I did try to spot clean some stubborn stains on a carpet and on a tile floor. It did a good job on both, and is not heavy or clumsy to move around. It does need to be plugged in to a wall socket for power however. It did a great job cleaning the house. First run out I deliberately did not pick up anything, dog toys, blankets, and shoes were all down on the floor. The Omni E28 avoided them all, cleaning aroung them and most importanly, never getting stuck anywhere. Getting stuck is the bane of a robovac, it will inevitibly happen when you are out and the robovac will have to be manually returned to the dock for reorientaion. I also deliberately picked up the E28 while it was cleaning and restarted it a few feet from where it had been. It figured out where it was, and continued cleaning. Yay! I'm a fan of self-emptying robovacs, it makes cleanup a lot easier and makes it possible to let the unit run for a few days without cleaning every time. The Omni E28 has a 'pet' setting that makes it run back to the dock for emptying about twice as often as if it's not set. It is very loud when emptying, but fortunately it's only a few seconds. The mopper is the same way. The mopper is a roller mopper that does a really excellent job on floors, by the way. The dock has both a built in mop cleaner and dryer. The mop dryer is a real nice to have as it limits odors. No robovac is perfect, but the Omni E28 seems to do a better job than most on edges and corners. As with ALL robovacs, behind doors, under low furniture, and some nooks and crannys remain a manual vacuum chore. What it does do is 99% of the work, which is fine by me. And, the inclusion of the lift off cleaner is one more thing I can remove from the cleaner closet. If it isn't the best of the best, the Eufy Omni E28 is certainly really close. I would highly recommend considering it.

I bought this because I owned several other eufy vacuums with no big issues.. This one however does not work for me and for the price and all the good reviews I read while doing my research I am very disappointed to say the least. The roll that mops started to smell bad the second week of use, as if the drying mode did not work properly, the option of only sweep never seems to work because it always ends up vacuuming and mopping regardless of what settings I choose. It could be that this unit I bought it was defective and it was just my luck. However I am very sure now that this one is a NO for me. Will return it and keep looking for other options more efficient and probably cheaper.

Still see smudges on floor after mopping. Only half of the mop seems to have enough pressure on the floor to fully saturate with the cleaning solution. Which means it doesnt have enough pressure on the floor to clean it. The vacuum doesnt pick up everything that it should be able to. It cant get close enogh to the cabinets to vacuum under the overhand in the kitchen. It leaves a mess of dog hair and dirt in the charging station that i had to clean up after mopping. Which would stand to reason that its not vacuuming up much before the mopping action. I might be returning this tbh.

Dual function robot with a trick up its sleeve

First of all I've become a big fan of Eufy. The seem to continually make things better and actually innovate and this e28 Omni is no exception to that. This e28 is basically the e25 but with a detachable portable carpet cleaner. So if you want the portable carpet cleaner this is the model for you. After you get everything assembled and connected to the app, the big thing here is to first run a floor mapping which only takes a min or so. Then take the time to setup your rooms in the app. Label them, add obstacles, no go lines, no mop areas, etc. Then you can run a vacuum/mop cycle. You can always go back in and tweak your rooms as needed. Overall the robot does a great job of both vacuuming and mopping. Each cleaning function has three settings. The robot defaults to medium for both. On the medium vacuum setting I was surprised by how quiet it was while still having a lot of suction. The dual side brushes are also make a big difference. I use mine on hard wood floors so I changed the water level for mopping to the lowest setting and it seems to be the perfect quantity. Its enough to clean and then drys quickly which is important. The automation of the base station is great but you will still need to replace dust bag, fill clean water, empty dirty water, and clean up robot every once in a while. The detachable carpet cleaner is what really sets this thing apart from other dual function robots. I've never seen anything like this before. It functions the same as any other wet carpet cleaner spraying water and vacuuming it up back up. I think people with pets or kids will really benefit from it most. I've actually been using mine on my carpet and in my car. Eufy also includes a carpet cleaner spray which I found helps quite a bit on stains. Pros: Has dual mopping and vacuuming function Has detachable portable spot cleaner Robot does great job of mapping and detecting carpet Uses top mounted lidar and "AI" camera to avoid obstacles Auto empties dust bin and dirty water Auto cleans and drys mop head Has dual side brushes and one extends out in corners Handles long hair better than most Has great suction while being pretty quite at same time Comes with carpet cleaner and cleaning solution Eufy app is really good and easy to use with a lot of configurability Works with Matter, Alexa, and Google Assistant Cons: Only came with 1 bag Back of robot seems to bump into things sometimes Makes low hum noise when running its drying cycle Falls off shorter floor drops, but fixed with no go line Can't do individual room cleaning with Google Assistant Overall this is a fantastic dual function robot. I've always been hesitant to get a vacuum/mop combo robot because they always did one function over the other better. With this e28 thats no longer a concern and you get a portable carpet cleaner!

The Eufy Omni E28 is more than just a robot vacuum - it vacuums, mops, and can be used to clean carpets! I was a little confused to start since I couldn't seem to locate any instructions. There is a "get started" card, but it just shows a few photos and didn't really explain (to me anyway) how to get started. It doesn't even mention that you need to add water to get anything started. However, I found an owners manual online which explained everything I needed. I understand that including a 28 page document in your package might be a waste of paper but it was very helpful. To be fair, there is a QR code on the "get started" page that linked you to a few videos, but the online owners manual was more helpful for me. After watching a few videos I plugged the unit in, added it to my Eufy app (which I already for some security cameras), and let the unit charge. Within a few hours it was ready to go and I turned it loose in the house. It did a remarkable job mapping out my house and easily recognized chairs/tables, and other furniture. It actually detected my wood floors and mopped the floors/vacuumed the carpet. It maneuvered easily over area rugs and created those clean "vacuum lines" in my carpet indicating that it had been there! The default setting is for the E28 to return to the base every 30 minutes to empty itself and for a quick charge. I found this to work well and let it do its thing. The initial mapping took about 1.5 hours for approximately 1500 square feet. A couple days later, I decided to try the Portable deep clean machine (PDC). You simply unplug the unit, move it to your desired area, and plug it back in. There's both a clean and dirty water tank. I sprayed an area of my carpet with the included fabric spray and a minute later was using the scrubber/extraction tool to "suck" the dirt right out of the carpet. It did such a good job that I proceeded to do several more areas of the house. Although it is tiring work on your hands/knees it does a great job! It's also easy to rinse/refill and truly is portable. The unit provides guidance when in use such as "the robot has returned to the base" and "the PDC needs to be refilled" which turned out to be very helpful. I've had robot vacuums before that seemed to "get lost" in the house, or stuck near furniture but did not experience any of those issues with the Omni E28. It's a pricey machine but well worth it if you're looking for more than just a robot vacuum. Definitely a thumbs up!

Great robot vacuum with quite a few features

The eufy Robot Vacuum Omni E28 is a great vacuum with quite a few features. Some of the features include a Roller Mop with Faster Self-Cleaning, Detangle Brush, Portable Carpet Cleaner, and Edge Cleaning. The unit comes in a very large box. The contents inside the box was heavier than I anticipated. The box was close to 50 lbs in weight. The unit comes very well packaged with easy to follow illustrations on how to set the unit up. The robot portion of the vacuum is much heavier than other robot vacuums I’ve used before. It’s more than likely a good thing with the excellent battery life and high tech features inside. The vacuum can be paired with the eufy Clean app. After pairing the vacuum it required an important firmware update. The vacuum has a speaker that will inform you of important information or if something is wrong. When I ran the vacuum for the very first time it told me I needed to fill the water container with water. After I added water it this its thing. I didn’t have to do much else. It first goes around and analyze each room while creating a 3D Map in the app. It was mind blowing how it created the map, which ended up looking just like my floor plan when it completed its scanning process. Once it created the 3D Map, it began vacuuming and mopping my floors. I have a mixture of hardwood floors, carpet and rugs. I was amazed at how it knew the difference between the surfaces. I wasn’t sure what it would do, so I walked and followed it as it was cleaning. It would use the mop feature while on the hardwood floors, then switch to vacuum mode when it came across carpet or carpet rugs. The battery life is amazing because my floor plan is quite large. The top portion of the vacuum housing easily comes off. It has a hose and nozzle head. This is good for cleaning up tough stains on carpet, as well as other types of flooring. When I was done, I placed the top portion back on the vacuum station. The robotic voice informed me that I didn’t place it back on correctly. It’s great it was able to tell me that because if not, I would have thought something was wrong with the unit when it was time to use it again. Overall, I’m impressed with this vacuum system and hope to get years of great use from it.
