    The solocam S340 is the solution for those who do not want to be on a subscription based plan. Camera recording quality is excellent. Mine faces east and even with the morning sun there's very little distortion of lens flaring. Night vision provide very good sharp detail in Black and White. Color night vision is good, but not quite as sharp. App connection is decent, though on occasion I found it to be lagging. Some of the best features of this camera are the ability to tilt and pan. You can use the AI tracking to set it to track movement automatically. Nice if you're in an area prone to porch pirates as it gives the illusion that you are there controlling it. Plenty of different tracking sensitivities and tracking types. Video clip length can be adjusted from 20 seconds to 2 minutes. Be aware the more settings you use, the faster the battery drain. And here's where the 4 stars come in for me. The solar panel so far has done a mediocre job of keeping the camera charged. in 3 weeks I went from a fully charged battery to 8%. Maybe different placement, and different time of year with more sun can keep it charged. However, there are no swappable batteries. If you need to charge the camera, it has to be taken offline for a few hours and plugged into a wall outlet for charging. If it's mounted up high, this can be a real pain to do. A swappable battery where you could keep charged ones on hand for easy swap like other security camera brands would be ideal. All in all it's a really good camera that I recommend. Just be aware of your battery use and solar panel placement.

    This camera from Eufy is jam packed with features that many consumer grade cameras don't have! First of all, it is solar powered. If it's placed in an area with a few hours of sunlight it completely charges itself, no wires needed and no removing rechargeable batteries! An extension cable comes with it so that, if mounting the solar panel on top of the camera doesn't give it enough sunlight, you can mount the solar panel away from the camera itself. This thing has pan and tilt as well! It is nice to be able to look around with a 360° view! This camera has AI built in that will follow a person when it detects them! This Eufy SoloCam S340 also has not one, but two camera! Yes, you read that correctly, two cameras! One is a larger view and one is a zoomed in view. You can view both at the same time or one at a time. The only issue I found from the zoomed in camera is that, if your camera isn't mounted high enough the zoomed in view doesnt reach far enough. You will end up seeing more of the ground. The camera has built in memory so all the video footage stays local. Cloud storage is available as well if needed. The camera also features a very bright LED light that can be activated via the mobile app or by motion detection. The night vision is very bright as well! It illuminates a very large area! For the price, this camera is the most bang for your buck! Buy it, you won't be disappointed!

    Like a phone camera hump for multi-lens security

    Eufy makes some great cameras that are refreshing in a market full of competitors that require you to purchase a cloud subscription to get decent features. The Eufy SoloCam S340 combines many of the features that I've seen before, including solar charging, super easy app setup, and great video quality. The S340 also adds a feature that I have yet to see on a camera in my home - it combines two cameras onboard, one wide angle and one 3x zoom so that you can easily get fine details on subjects directly in the center of the frame. The zoom camera is a bit less than 1440p resolution but still better than 1080p, and combined with the 3x zoom you can get great digital zoom to get even closer at decent quality. Eufy advertises that the included solar panel will keep the camera topped up with just 2 hours of full sunlight per day. Unfortunately, we've had nothing but partially or fully cloudy days since I got the camera, so I can't attest to this properly. I will say that my experience with similar solar panels would support that claim. Keep in mind that the more you use the camera the more it will drain the battery - including if you use the AI tracking feature where the camera will pan and tilt to follow someone who comes into view. The battery is rated for months of use, and I'm not seeing a ton of use in the place I have mounted it in my back yard (off the side of a playground set). Overall this is an extremely easy to use security camera with great video quality and features. The app experience is among the best I've used (and at this point I think I've reviewed a camera from almost every major brand). Kudos to Eufy for a well made product and app.

    I love Eufy solar panel cameras, my last one has been going for more than a year without a recharge, this one so far is on a track to not need recharged either. Obviously, placement and the amount of traffic it seems may impact how well this works for you. I like the dual camera as well, it gives two different angles that you always want, especially at the front door area it shows the person up close and then an overall view as well, I really like it, and the 2k resolution is really nice and at least with my eyes and in my area I don’t feel like I have a need for any more than that. The PTZ function is perfect for getting a view of the entire situation unfolding (most of the time just someone dropping off a package from some retailer or another). The app has ways to choose from max security (60 second clips) to maximizing battery life (20 seconds) On thing that was weird is I had to go into settings and power manager and say that the solar panel was installed to start getting solar information, it charged the battery beforehand it just didn’t know it was getting it from the solar panel I guess. We’ve had several days of rain and the battery lost about 4% then in half a day of sun and it not being in the optimal place (so less than half a day of sun I suppose) it got about 1% back. Overall, I’ll have enough sun to keep this one going especially now that it is in it’s permanent home with a tad more sun than the other spot. There is a spotlight feature as well, not quite as good as their floodlight camera, but it’s nice to add the light at night. Overall, it’s a great camera and I love that it can be setup independently or part of the home hub though my home hub is too old for it be able to connect too, so that was a little sad as I would love to control all my cameras together, but at least they are all in the same app.

    We've had the Eufy S340 security camera almost a month now. I love that its solar powered and has 360 degree swivel. Last week when we were out of town, it alerted us to visitors, big and small. We've had some minor trouble in our neighborhood so this camera helps us keep an extra eye out. I highly recommend it.

    Excellent camera. 360 field of view. AI without having to pay extra. What is not to like? And very importantly, no subscription fees. Start here, and compare the rest. If you're new to cameras, buy one, then build a security ring from there a little at a time.

    I am disappointed with my experience using Eufy products. I have four Solocam S340 cameras installed around the exterior of my home. One particular camera, which is located in a higher-traffic area, is connected to a solar panel; however, it frequently loses power. This requires me to climb onto my roof to unplug the camera, bring it indoors to charge for over five hours, and then return it to its original position. In contrast, some family members who use Ring cameras have not encountered similar issues, which has led me to regret my decision to choose Eufy. These cameras were recommended to me by another family who is experiencing the same problems. Given that Eufy products are more expensive than Ring, I would recommend considering Ring instead. Additionally, I have found the motion detection functionality to be subpar. Despite setting the cameras to the highest sensitivity level, they often capture irrelevant activity while missing significant events that should be recorded. On a positive note, the cameras are aesthetically pleasing, and the video quality is commendable. However, due to the challenges I have faced, I cannot recommend Eufy at this time.

    Avoid this camera until they fix the software

    The camera works and seems to function well, but there's a software bug that makes it pretty much useless. When you set the power source to the solar panel and the camera charges to 100%, it will send you a notification. It will send you multiple notifications per day and annoy the heck out of you. If you turn the notification off, you won't get alerted either if a person triggers the camera which makes it pretty much useless as a "security camera". I have other models of their Eufy solar-panel powered cameras and they do not have this bug. It should be an easy fix on their Eufy security app but they have been dragging their feet on this. Just do a search for "eufy camera battery charged notification" and you'll see plenty of other users complaining about this.
