Do you ever leave home and ask yourself “did I locked the door”? Well not anymore because with this smart door lock you will have the security to know if its locked or not. This smart door lock is a very useful in many ways. First of you can unlock and lock the door from wherever you are at. The App makes it so convenient to let whoever you want into your house. The App also keeps track of the lock events. The App alarms you if the door is unlock or locked. You can adjust the sound of the keypad, for me I do think its pretty loud when entering the code, But safe also, that way you know someones at the door. AutoLock is a great feature as well, which means that after a certain amount of time if the door was left unlock it will lock on its own. The installation was easy just remove the back of your old deadlock and add this new one. The box came with several adapters so there shouldn’t be a problem. The App even comes with a video on how to do the installation. I do wish this was one whole piece that came with its own deadlock and keypad already on the same piece, instead of leaving the old one there and having to add the keypad somewhere else. I repeat I didn’t have an issue installing it but I do feel it would of been better. I had to drill the keypad into the door for it to be more secure and prevent it from falling off due to the constant closing and opening the door. Overall a great smart lock.

    Great retro smart lock kit

Unboxed the Eufy Security Retrofit Smart Lock with Wi-Fi Remote and found a very well-made kit. It included the replacement unit for the inside of an existing deadbolt, the keypad, batteries for both the keypad and unit, four adapters for a variety of deadbolt manufacturers, a window sticker, and mounting hardware, and a quick guide. Just about everything you need to retro your manual deadbolt into a keyless entry. I would suggest including a few alcohol wipes to clean the areas for mounting the keypad and unit’s 3m tape. I’ll start at the end first. Once the lock-in is installed, the installation is fairly straightforward. It all makes sense, but not from the start. The user’s guide is fairly small, and the illustrations are hard to view. It’s all black and white and not clear, at least not to me. I mounted the mounting plate but had to remove it to see how it fit in the unit. Neither way fit so I looked back and forth at the unit and the guide before figuring out the hinged (wings) hold downs open up and then lock on the mounting plate after installation. Okay, the guide shows that, but again, not very well. So, I remount the plate and get the unit locked on. After that, it’s a breeze. Insert batteries, cover replaced, and finish the passcode on the keypad. It’s all done via the Android app, but the mounting part wasn’t there either. That alone would have made this 15-minute job a 5-minute job. With that knowledge, anyone can do the installation. So, how’s it work. The unit itself works flawlessly. My old deadbolt on the other hand, not so much. I’ve never had an issue with it, but after installing the smart lock, I see that the old cylinder binds as it goes in and out. I used graphite and WD40 to lubricate it, but over the years it must have gotten bent. I went as far as using emery cloth on the exposed shaft to remove any burrs, but it still binds a bit. With that issue, the smart lock had the power to fully lock the deadbolt about 75% of the time, but every few tries, the lock would only go in about half a turn and stop. I’ll have to go buy a new deadbolt or combo set and have it rekeyed. Maybe for the best as I have an old brass set and with the Indian bronze color of the smart lock, I can bring this door up to date. Other than the issue with my current deadbolt and the wing-hinged installation, I can’t think of any other negative. The lockset looks great, it doesn’t change the look of the door on the outside and the inside looks great, and the unit is pleasant to look at. For any homeowner looking to upgrade to a keyless entry and you don’t have the skills to change out an entire lockset, this one is for you. Just remove the old deadbolt on the inside and leave the outside as is. Maybe put a couple of pieces of masking tape over it to keep it on the door. Install the new smart lock on the deadbolt using one of the four matching adapters (there’s one for Kwikset with the arched arm, a straight slot one, a diagonal slot one, and another that I can’t remember…plus sign maybe?) screw in the mounting plate with the old deadbolt screws and the stainless ring adapters if you need them. Then spread open the wings (my bad) and put the unit on the mounting plate. Close the wings to lock the unit on the plate and you're done with the installation. Have the app running and press next each time you complete a step, and you should be able to enter your 4-8 digits passcode. Tada, all done. As my long-winded paragraph states, this installation is easy, and I’d recommend it to a friend or anyone wanting to add a smart lock to their home. It works with both the Alexa app and Google Home, so if you’re like me and have both systems running items in your house, it’s great to buy items that can work with either app. It also works with iOS as well as Android.

Relatively easy installation. Use the included adapters to install the lock on the inside of the door in the place of the deadbolt lever you generally have. I had a Schlage lock, and the included adapters fit it perfectly. Install the app (I have an Android) and follow the instructions for setting the lock up electronically and calibrating it. Everything went really well until I got to the spot where the lock was being calibrated via the app, and I got a multitude of “Calibration Failed” messages and “Please Try Again.” For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out what was happening, but finally, after 10 or so tries of re-calibrating the lock, it worked. In action, the R10 is a breeze to use. You still have a deadbolt lever on the inside to manually lock the deadbolt, and you can still use the original key on the outside to get in, but now you can use the app and Wi-Fi to unlock or lock the deadbolt, or use the included programmable keypad to enter a code to open the deadbolt sans key. Absolutely no issues with the R10 over the last few days. It is so nice not having to use a key to get in the house! The app also informs you, if you want it to, of when the lock is used. Great way of knowing when kids are home, or when they leave, or, if you want to open the door for someone without giving them the code, you can send an unlock command from the app and let them in. I highly recommend this lock. The move towards Wi-Fi has made it extremely usable and effective versus the old Bluetooth lock we had before.

    Easier access

Having a WiFi remote lock adds all kinds of convenience to getting into your house. I’ve had a different branded lock and it only worked through the app, but it had location services where it would unlock automatically when I came home. This one has pin pad access, but not location access, so a swap on what is needed. Currently with one kid in the house, a temporary roommate and my dad living nearby, instead of handing keys out to everyone, I can give them all their own code which then gives easy control over when they can enter the house. Through the app I can set access times or just delete the access all together. You can even create temporary one time access codes that have start/expiration times. You can use any digit combo of 4-8 digits. For an added layer of security you can enable scramble, which allows you to put extra numbers before or after your passcode, up to 12 total, to throw nearby listeners off from knowing you only have a 4 digit combo. Installing the lock is simple, the app even shows a tutorial video on how it is done. It is simply removing two screws and replacing the knob side of the current deadbolt lock with the remote lock. The lock is a lot bigger in area than my previous, but slimmer in protruding from the door. This also takes four CR123 batteries that are included. They claim it should last a year, so we shall see in 11 more months. The battery meter on the app does not show a %, just bars, except for the keypad which uses AA and shows a percent. Another thing that is different from the other lock I had, there is no extra sensor to add to ensure it knows when to lock. Just on calibration it seems to know it is closed. However, it hasn’t been 100% reliable on the close, leaving me to question if it locked a couple times now. Although, there is a 3 minute safety where it will lock automatically, but this is regardless of if it believes it is closed or not as the door may be wide open and it just locks. This is a bit annoying if you don’t pay attention to it and go to shut your door to only slam the deadbolt into the frame. Also without the sensor, you have no indication of if your door is open or closed through the app. Another thing that doesn’t give me 100% confidence in its status is looking at the events in the app. There are several times that it just shows that it was locked. At no point in between there did it show it was unlocked. I know from looking at camera events that it was unlocked as the roommate and kid left for work at different times, but it missed reporting the manual unlock. With the app, you can also enable integration with the eufy doorbell if you happen to have one. This simply adds a lock icon to the screen when viewing the camera so that you don’t have to swap devices in the app. Overall it has been a pretty good lock regardless of me not having 100% trust in it. I feel if it had a magnetic sensor to add like my other lock, I would have a little more faith in it. Even my previous one wouldn’t report some unlock instances which could just be that it has to reconnect to WiFi each time and it missed a beat. It still adds remote and PIN access while still allowing you to use a physical key without having to replace your entire lock.

I wanted a way to be able to unlock my door when I expected friends/family to come over but that I didn't want to give out my key and also a digital way to get back in my house if I forgot my keys. This was how I found the eufy Security R10 Smart Lock. What's in the Box R10 smart lock Key pad Retrofit kit Setup (mounting) The instructions where pretty easy to follow. Since this was a retrofit kit, there really wasn't any hole making or major installations. eufy was smart to give everything needed to retrofit this to your existing deadbolt. mounting the smart lock was easy with the mounting plate as well as the deadbolt adaptor. After removing the inner lock mechanism with 2 bolts, simply use the mounting plate in it's place and add on the adaptor then attach the smart lock. The key pad was just mounted on my door with 2 screws included. App Setup This is where I encountered the some issues. After following the in app setup guide, I came to the point of needing to calibrate the door lock. Prior to this the app had no issues connecting to the lock. The app ask you to close the door and manually lock the deadbolt and then let the app know at this point the app failed to calibrate about 7 times. After a bit of frustration, I asked my wife to set up the app on her phone to use a different phone just in case it was an issue with my device. This worked and solved the issue. After getting the lock calibrated, it worked great. Conclusion After a bit of frustration calibrating the lock, it works great. I get notifications when someone manually locks or unlocks the smart lock. I can remotely open the lock for friends and family coming by.

    Great WiFi lock

THE BREAKDOWN: I have two other WiFi remote lock in my home. The amount of convenience this adds is amazing! If you have a lot of people that access your house this item will let you control and monitor who enters your home and whether your door is locked or not. You can assign pin codes that range from 4 digits to 8 digits to different people that you want to access your home so you can know who accesses your home. There is also a feature you can enable called scramble that allows you to put extra number before or after your passcode to keep your code even more secure. If you have an iOS then you can setup Auto Lock that uses location services so that when you leave it automatically locks and when you return it unlocks. Installing the lock was very simple and straight forward. There was even a tutorial video once you scanned the barcode that shows you how to do it. I love this installation because there were no extra keys to keep track of, you used the same locking and key part that you already have! One downfall that I see is that the lock itself takes special CR123A batteries and they are more expensive and harder to find than normal AA batteries. The app does have a battery meter with a % symbol. The keypad uses AA batteries. The calibration of the lock was simple and easy. It took about 45-60 secs. I am not sure it knows when the door is open or closed because there are not other sensors that came with the lock. There is a safety feature that locks the door after 3 minutes automatically. If your sensor is incorrect it wouldn’t matter if your door was open or closed it would still show locked. This pairs nicely with my Eufy WiFi cameras as I can have all my items in one app. PRO’s: - Control from anywhere with the app - Easy to set-up - Auto Unlock - Keypad can be placed anywhere CON’s: - Use of CR123A - No extra sensor to truly know if your door is open or shut SUMMARY: Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they were in the market for item like this.

I have another smart lock but there are some things I like better about the eufy smart lock. The best thing is that I can lock and unlock the door from anywhere! I don't have to be home on the same Wi-Fi network to do that. It should be noted that the Customer Service is only available M-F from 9-5 (PST). I installed on a Saturday and had an issue with the calibration. I was unable to reach anyone through the regular methods. As a Best Buy Tech Insider, we were given a direct email and that person emailed me back very quickly. In the mean time, trying the calibration the next day seemed to work (with no other changes). It says it can be connected to and work from my Google Assistant. I connected it to my Google Home Network without a problem but when I ask Google to lock or unlock the door I keep getting a message that the device "hasn't been set up". I am not sure if that's a eufy or Google issue. If you have Apple, it will unlock when you approach the door. I have Android and am not happy that this feature isn't available for me. I do have that with my other smart lock. It's a nice feature if your hands are full of packages. When I had the issue calibrating, the app just kept telling me to do it again with no troubleshooting alternatives. The installation manual provided also did not offer any possible solutions. The manual on the app is too tiny to read. It should be noted that this unit does NOT include the dead bolt. My existing deadbolt is very old so I thought that might be causing the calibration problem. I went and bought an inexpensive deadbolt and before I installed it, I ran the calibration one more time. Low and behold, it worked! Overall, this is a nice looking and sturdy smart lock. I like the ability to lock and unlock from anywhere. I get notifications if the lock is activated as well. No more getting up at night to be sure the front door is locked. I can check from the comfort of my bed!

I’ve had a few Wi-Fi locks before and so far this is my favorite. Very well thought out features and some advantages over others I’ve tried – more on that a bit below. Installation was straightforward and took me about 20 mins. The only issue I had was during the lock calibration it took a few tries. I’m not 100% certain, but I think the issue was that I only opened the door a few inches during the “unlock and open door” step of calibration. (Trying to keep our cat in, but when I opened the door a few feet, the calibration worked correctly.) App was easy to setup and quick and painless to add our house members with their own code as well as our neighbors and our dog sitter. It has auto lock and auto unlock features (we work from home and go in and out a fair amount, walk the dog, etc. and I’ve found these features to use the batteries more in other locks. I tested them here and they worked fine, we just prefer to leave those off.) The keypad was easy to install and worked perfectly. The lock is very quiet, so I didn’t even hear it open/lock while outside, but it works great. The phone/app alerts fire quickly (“Pet Sitter name, has opened the door”) and they appear on my phone within a few seconds. Advantages over some other locks I’ve tried: It’s a lot sleeker and thinner than some of the other locks I’ve tried. It also shows the battery level in app (also an advantage over some others.) Wi-Fi was easy to configure and setup (this also has been an issue for some other locks I’ve tried, so well done here.) Very pleased so far!

Overall good quality and easy to set up however, you cannot instal in tight spaces like if the deadbolt is next to glass. This is becase the smart lock uses plastic tabs on each side of the box to secure the box in place.

Auto lock is great! It fit perfectly on my door where others struggled to have enough power to lock and unlock the deadbolt this lock powered through. Very responsive notifications and the keypad worked sesmlessly. In the app the lock even synched with my wireless doorbell making it so i dont have to move to a different screen in the app to unlock the door. Only thing missing is a fingerprint sensor.
