I’m not sure what is going on but I took two back same day. R10 model does not want to connect to app. So I call them they say you can not get by this to initialize your device take it back and she didn’t even know how the serial numbers didn’t match up smh. I’d say it could be a good lock option but I’ve moved on to another brand

I replaced an older style deadbolt lock (the kind that has the numerical keypad on the outside). What I like: 1. The App. It’s excellent abs offers many options. This company has been around for a long time and has a lot of experience and it shows with how extensive the app is. I have set it to lock after 1.5 min by itself, also have set it so I can input dummy numbers before the actual real code in case a nosy neighbor is watching. 2. East installation and batteries lasts a year. 3. Constant communication on phone when door is opened or locked. Things I don’t like: 1. Due to us having an existing deadbolt with a keypad we had to keep the deactivated keypad as our external lock (we could have went and purchased a basic deadbolt but this works). The good thing about this setup is it offers even more security as it’s deactivated so someone could try to mess with this keypad instead of the actual working one. Overall I can’t think of any other negatives, it’s a secure good lock and much better then we had.

Absolutely love this way of opening my door

This is probably the best way of opening the door since the invention of the key. The best in this model is that you are adding the wireless technology to your regular bolt and key, so no need to redo your keys (also would not be needed at all because all the process is managed from the app). I love that all hardware is included in the box so I’ve been able to transform my old lock into an app-controlled lock in less than 15 minutes with only my screwdriver. The installation is very intuitive, very similar to a regular bolt with the only difference is that the back part of the lock is the electronic element where the batteries are kept. The instructions are visual and in my opinion solve the only question that I had, connecting the electronic part to the metallic mounting plate piece connected to the lock. The smart is compatible with android and IOS phones. However, if you have an IOs (like my wife) the look recognizes your arrival when your authorized phone is near and unlocks automatically. Hopefully is also available soon for androids. I tested the lock for more than a week and I had not a single problem with the lock being stock in the process, that on rainy days and the expanding wood was a concern. The app is great to manage all the admin elements of the functioning, which includes creating the codes (more than one is allowed) that will serve to open the door. I finally need to add how happy I am with the battery's promised lifespan: one year!. Obviously, after a week I still can not confirm it but if this is true, that exceeds any other device that I know in the market. I strongly recommend it.

Euffy’s latest lock lets you keep the deadbolt and lockset on your door, while adding significant convenience for getting in and out of your home. The set integrates into existing locksets and will work with Kwickset, Schlage, and other major brands of locksets. I have a basic DIY knowledge of locksets, having replaced the deadbolts and door knobs on my house after moving in. I found installing the Euffy lock set to be generally easier than other deadbolt replacements, as you’re only replacing one side of the lock, with no changes being made to the deadbolt itself. Along with the easier installation when dealing with only a single side of the lock, this set also allows for keeping your existing keys. This is significant if you have other locks which match the same keys, comon for front and back doors, for example. The downside of the Euffy set is there’s a separate set of batteries for the lock and for the keypad. The interior batteries are a less common 123 size battery, but they can still be found in most hardware stores as well as online. Euffy says these batteries need to be replaced about once per year. The keypad uses more common AA size batteries. Since these are only used to power the transmitter, they are also expected to last a year or more. The lock can be opened with keys, the appropriate code on the keypad, an app on your phone, and even with proximity detection of an iPhone and / or Apple watch. While the lock has an app for Android, there’s no proximity detection support. A code can be shared with others on a permanent or temporary basis. For those who prefer to only use the app, the key panel can be left off altogether. As it’s not directly connected to the lock mechanism, it can be placed on a nearby wall instead of on the door itself. Installation was very straightforward. You have a choice of paper directions included in the box or downloading an app which will give you an all around view of what you are to be doing. I opted for the app directions which I found to be straightforward. The only challenge I had was connecting the door to my WiFi network. It took a few attempts before the connection stuck. While the lock assembly was installed in < 10 minutes, getting the app connected took another 7-10 minutes to complete all the programming. I’ve installed Euffy’s flood light security cameras and they connected without issue. I was surprised that this gave me the trouble it did. There was a firmware update to install after it was connected. Perhaps that will help future users to have a more streamlined process. Overall, this is a good solution for those looking to add some extra convenience without a lot of hassle. Even with the issues during setup, it’s worked flawlessly since then. It’s worth the price in the end.

    A Good Smart Lock

If you're like me, you hate having to fumble through your keys to find the key to unlock the deadbolt, or maybe you are also like me and always forget if you locked the door or not, especially on vacations! Well, the Eufy smart lock takes care of both of those problems for me! All in all, this is a pretty great solid smart door lock with a few flaws that prevented me from going out and giving this product 5 stars. I'll highlight the pros and cons to further explain.... PROS: - 1 year battery life. Now obviously I can not attest if that is true, but if it holds up, that is great. - Retro-fit install. This is very nice, the only thing you have to do is take off your interior deadbolt lever and place this over it with one of the adapters and that is really it. As long as your deadbolt (without this device) is able to lock without getting caught on something, you won't have an issue with this device. - Keypad, this is a nice feature and it is nice that you can really put it anywhere you want. You can lock and unlock the door and even scramble the passcode for an extra layer of security. - Simple to use. You have many options to opening your door with this lock, you can still use your key if lets say the power is out or battery died, you can use your smart watch, you can use your smart phone, you can use the keypad, you can use Alexa, you can utilize geofencing, you can do it all! CONS: - The construction of the lock seems slightly cheap. I know everything is going towards plastic now and days because of new laws, but, still.... for a door lock I want it to feel hefty and secure, I worry how long the plastic outer casing will last, but the inner workings are metal. - The app is buggy... The geofencing technology even though I have it set to always allow my location, works maybe half the time. Sometimes I will come home and the door is still locked and I will have to manually use a code or key which is annoying. Also, the apple watch integration is not good at all, quite frankly it is poo. It rarely displays the correct status of the lock. Example, if the door is unlocked, my watch says it is locked and vice versa. This makes using the watch feature impossible and frustrating. If they can fix these bugs, it would greatly enhance the use of this product. - I do not like how the batteries are not rechargeable, instead they are C or D batteries, I can not recall which, but that is annoying that you have to yearly change out batteries instead of opting for lithium ion. Overall, I think most of the issues with this product are something that can easily be resolved with some firmware/software updates. This lock is great for anyone looking for the convenience of coming home and not having to fuss with keys.

    Smart Deadbolt with a Twist

I've been using eufy security cameras around our home for a year and was excited to add another of their products to our home. The eufy Smart Lock R10 WiFi Deadbolt Retrofit lock is a perfect choice as it retrofits with existing deadbolt locks. The advantage is the entire deadbolt does not need to be replaced...so the exterior keeps its original look and function including the existing key. Out of the box, the deadbolt and keypad are well built similar to the rest of the eufy equipment we own. The parts and installation instructions are laid out well. As it's a retrofit unit, you just need to match up the the included adapters with the existing lock manufacturer. In this case it was a Schlage lock and the adapter fit perfectly. The eufy app was already installed on my iPhone so it's just a matter of following the setup and calibration steps. Make sure to follow the steps accordingly and setup is a piece of cake. Once installed the deadbolt is a breeze to use either manually or with the use of the included keypad or WiFi/Bluetooth via the app. There's a good amount of customization that can be done such as setting individual user passcodes, alerts for when the door is locked/unlocked, etc. Pros: - great build quality as expected from eufy - ease of installation with existing deadbolt mechanism - ease of use of the eufy app - programmability of the deadbolt/keypad Cons: - after just about a week of use I haven't found any yet! Overall this is a great smart home security appliance that anyone should consider. I would certainly recommend it to anyone!

We had been looking for a new smart door lock for our home to replace the one we've been having periodic issues with (which had replaced the smart door lock which came preinstalled with our new house when we moved in). Since Anker is a brand I've grown to appreciate and trust, this eufy Security Retrofit Smart Lock with WiFi Remote Unlocking, immediately caught my interest as a suitable replacement. Installation was easy, partly because we've installed a smart door lock before. But also because the Quick Start Guide was detailed and descriptive enough, yet simple to understand, along with helpful diagrams for reference. Installing the eufy Security App is a must - available for iOS and Android users - and works with both Alexa and Google Assistant; if you so choose. The app is organized well, and easy to navigate. Real-Time notifications to my mobile device is something I've grown used to from my other home security devices. But a feature I 'love' the most (similar to our previous smart door lock), is that you are able to set user codes for members of your family or trusted friends, neighbors, or service people. Codes which can be "revoked" at any time if need be. The built-in WiFi allows you to use your phone (via the app) to lock and unlock this eufy Smart Lock from anywhere you have signal/service. This can come in pretty handy, as I can attest, if you happen to need to let someone into your home while you're away to handle an unexpected, immediate issue. My husband has an iOS phone (and watch), while I have an Android device, so he is able to make use of the Auto Unlocking feature. Although I miss having the option to use an actual key, the keypad for this eufy security smart lock is nice and responsive. Plus, since it has push buttons to enter an access code instead of a digital screen like on our previous smart lock (which often gave us errors), this is a much welcome change. As a style aesthetic, the keypad has a very nice matte surface texture, which also has to do with it being "waterproof." A particular 'Pro' for me is that this smart lock comes with rechargable batteries, which are claimed to last for an entire year (we shall see). This feature is pleasantly different from the annoying and frustrating necessity of changing out AA batteries in my previous smart door lock system, which were needing to be replaced way more often than that other smart lock's instructions professed would be required. Although our front door is sheltered in an alcove out of the way of direct sunlight, dust and wind, and the occasional rain, it will remain to be seen how the Arizona heat affects the long-term performance of this eufy Security Smart Lock. Yet, based on my experience so far, I can wholeheartedly recommend.

Very cool wifi deadbolt smart lock. This only makes sense with current day technology. If you can do every single other activity of daily life with your phone and voice command then why not your front door lock? This was very simple and straight forward to install, came with everything needed and only requires a few simple basic tools. I'm sort of handy so seemed overly simplified to me but that just proves that anyone could do this. The unit has built in wifi to connect to your home's network and then you can control the lock remotely from anywhere with the app. Works great if you're not home but need to let a friend of family member in. I also love the wifi because I can check the status and lock the door if I accidently forgot to earlier - but this also has an autolocking feature which takes care of that most of the time. In addition to the auto-lock this clever little beast also has an auto-unlock feature that will unlock the door for you based on proximity as you approach - very cool. Comes with an additional mountable keypad that you can place anywhere (I slightly hid mine out of sight) and use to open unlock the door if you are without your phone. Very clever device and very handy to have on our front door. States battery life if for a year with standard use, mine has been up a few weeks and no signs of slowing down.

This is a pretty good smart lock but I was torn between 3 and 4 stars for this rating. If I have written this review directly after installation it would have been 3 stars but the ease of use in the app and features bumped it back to 4. The installation of the lock itself onto the door was fairly easy and went smoothly. The included adapter worked with the keyed lock already installed on my door and I enjoy that I did not have to re-key the lock. The initial app setup was great and the included instructions for activating and calibrating were easy to follow. The calibration step however is where I encountered my largest frustration. If you have any friction at all between the dead bolt and strike plate this lock does not have enough power to function. I could understand it not having the torque to move the bolt if it took a considerable amount of effort to lock manually or if you have to push the door to make the lock line up but this was not the case. There was just enough friction to barely feel the bolt rub when locking by hand. This proved too much for the small motor in the smart lock and it continuously failed to calibrate. I was able to resolve this issue by dremeling the strike plate but I would prefer a zero clearance fit on the dead bolt.

Unboxing he Eufy gave a sense of confidence in the quality of the product – nice packaging, well protected, and sufficient feeling of heft and sturdiness in the build – even being plastic. For a normal situation, everything is included in the box for installation; except, my situation isn’t normal, I guess. After emptying the box, I immediately notice there is no external side, and no locking/unlocking mechanism – essentially, there is no deadbolt. The reason that doesn’t work in my situation is all my locks are completely keyless, with keypads on the external side of the door. When I saw how easily a lock can be picked (one guy with 2 paperclips in less than 12 seconds), I got rid of key entry. I would have to leave the locking mechanism in the door and purchase an external plate cover or complete separate lock to complete my installation. My situation may be unique, but it warrants attention. I feel Anker should at least include an external plate for one-sided use. Well, one great thing about using an existing locking mechanism is that installation is straightforward. It’s so simple, I feel just about anyone can do it. Using your existing lock means you don’t have to deal with deadbolt slot alignment, which may the most difficult thing about deadbolt installation. The keypad is also easy to install. It’s just a combination of hanger screws and double-sided tape. I do like the flexibility of the separate keypad, but it also means more thought in mounting and the need to power 2 separate devices – more batteries required. I’m a little torn on this. On one hand, I’m that guy that loves different and trendy, but I don’t want to buy that second set of batteries either. There are the long-lasting CR123 batteries (more expensive) used in the lock, which should help for long term dependability – 12 months according to them. We will see. Just something else to consider. Download the app, connect the lock, update the firmware, calibrate, and there you have it. Up and running and so far, so good. The lock is very responsive communicating both ways – from app to lock and giving activity notifications. There is a self-locking timer to ensure the door locks if left unlocked. The only issue with that is there is no sensor indicating the door is closed, so it is still very user dependent. You can assign codes, lock and unlock the door, and use geofencing for lock and unlock functionality – although this only works for iPhone. The app is pretty consistent and has been so far reliable. This is a good smart lock that fits most situations. The absence of the deadbolt locking mechanism is a detriment in some cases, but serves as a help with regards to installation ease. It is compatible with some other technologies, like Google Home, but I expected more integration. Still, a good option for most consumers.

Calibration issues, but happy once done

We've been on the fence for s smart lock for a while, mostly for the security concerns which may be kinda silly if you ever look up bump keys. My favorite feature of this lock is that it allows us to use the existing lock since we use the same key for the knob and the deadbolt. It helps keep key clutter down - and having a key for back up is a must. Installation was pretty simple but one thing to keep in mind is that you have to add and extra 2" or more space where the tabs that lock the unit in place have to pop out. I had only exactly the amount of space for the R10 so one side isn't latched to the base plate because of a window next to it. It still holds fast though. Now came the difficult part - using the software to calibrate. If you look at all the reviews it's a huge PIA. I spend more time calibrating and failing (a whole freaking hour!) than I did with the physical install. Even following the directions had failure after failure. Just before I was ready to tear it down and smash it, I finally had success. The only issue other than the calibration errors is that the lock doesn't have a whole lot of force behind to overcome a less than perfect fit. Our house shifts depending on the weather and can give a little more resistance than other days, so I get a failed lock occasionally. Unlocks always succeed, it's the locking - the important part - that fails. So far just doing a second lock cycle pushes it in. Keep this in mind if you expect to remotely lock the door and your situation is kinda like mine. Even though there are a few issues I'm pretty happy with the Eufy R10 and may get another unit for the back garage door. I do wish the motor wouldn't quit after a small bit of resistance, but other than that it's a great "smart" deadbolt.

The smart lock installation was straight forward and took about 15 mins. The instructions are illustrated with very little wording, but its easy to follow. The package includes everything needed for install, including the batteries for the lock and keypad. Adapters that fit different styles of locks, a door sticker letting everyone know that you have the security lock...LOL. The hardest part was the app which was very temperamental doing the calibration. It also had an issue finding my wi-fi. So, the reason for the 2 stars, there are three steps to the calibration; close and manually lock the door, manually unlock and open the door, and then the third was to close and lock the door so the app could unlock the door. The last is where it failed time and again. My dead bolt is very snug, I don't have to lean against the door to lock it however it is tight, and the Eufy just didn't have enough power to unlock it although I could see and hear it trying to. Unfortunately, since I couldn't get past the calibration I'm unable to know if the keypad works or not.

Please open the door and operate the calibration via the eufy smart lock.

If still failed to operate the calibration by the time when you open the door, please confirm if you can hear the motor sound.

      1) If you can hear the motor sound but the deadbolt is not running.
      2) If the motor can drive the latch to extend and retract, but still failed to calibrate.
      3) If the motor is trying to drive the latch out, but the latch is stuck and not fully extended, the latch is defective.

I installed this lock and my second home and I have panicky in and out teenagers who always forget to lock the door. Let's start there. My second home is actually the most complicated because it has Google and Alexa. I also have a Google phone and my girlfriend actually has Apple throughout her house. As a result, we all synced up the locks to I respective platforms. A little tedious, but believe me very worth it. Now no matter who is home or who is listening the lock response. The easiest is for my phone, Alexa and Google sometimes doesn't pick up the commands but such as life. The app was easy to install on my phone and now I can Wi-Fi lock and unlock the door. Back to those teenagers I mentioned it's easy to catch them. Trying to sneak in and out and let them in the house if I'm just a few blocks away. Barely getting home in time. I highly recommend this. This is just one more thing to make your home a smart home. I feel like it adds value to your home but that is different from state to state. So be sure to check with a realtor if you're selling. Because the install was a little bit of a headache, so I recommend just buying another one. If you move and leave that one for the new family. They'll love you for it.

The R10 lock is very well designed and works smoothly. One point to make clear is that you must open the door more than 45 degrees during the calibration process, or the calibration might fail. I saw another review that said the calibration failed then suddenly worked. I suspect that reviewer opened more than 45 degrees when he saw it suddenly work. The lock is easy to install, you most likely will want to use the adhesive strip on the main unit (inside portion) so that it is tightly installed. The keypad works perfectly. The app has an excellent user interface. You will need to identify the type of lock pin you have and use the correct adapter of which several adapters are included. The instructions are well done. This device uses part of your original lock including the bolt and outside key slot. This is genius since now you don't need a different key for unlocking manually. Another important design point is having both Bluetooth and WiFi so that this lock can be operated from anywhere; not just right up next to the device – very nice for a lock in this very reasonable price range. I did call support for help and the phone was answered within a minute and the customer support rep was excellent. Also eufy support sent me emails to assist installation, always with short turnaround time. Since I managed Help Desks at one time, I recognized an efficient operation with well trained technicians who were smart, courteous and patient. This lock is designed well with the latest technology and also attractively designed. Tip of the cap to the engineering that went into this lock. I would definitely recommend this company and this very smart lock.
