The Eufy 2k video doorbell with chime takes the previous version a step further and adds the ability to use the battery option or use the wired option to your existing doorbell. I chose the battery option for my install, and it has preformed well for me. Installation was a breeze, and it only took me about 30 minutes from start to finish. If you are going the wired route, it might take a bit longer, depending on your set up. Using the battery option allows you to place the video doorbell where you want it. So, if you have a doorbell that faces the side and you want to capture the walkway up to your door, then you have that option and having options right out of the box is good. I found the battery life was still around 96% after a full week of testing and hundreds of notifications.
Inside the box you are given different mounting brackets so that you can angle the video doorbell and some mounting screws and wires to hook into your existing wires as well. Also included is a 16GB SanDisk MicroSD card for local storage (which is also an improvement over the previous model that only had built in storage, and you can expand that storage if you desire. This local storage allows you to control your video and not have to upload them to a cloud and it is also no extra cost. This is a big win in my book and the monthly subscription model that everyone else uses are an added expense that I don’t want or need.
Video quality is great, and I have no complaints about that. Night quality is good as well and I am happy with that too. I do wish the field of view (FOV) was larger though, the image does not allow me to see the whole porch so if a package is on there it is out of view, and that is really my only complaint about this device. Video calling is loud and clear and both parties can hear each other. Notifications are quick and it only takes a second or two for my phone to connect and to be able to start speaking to the other person. There are also some canned responses you can send if you can’t talk. The Eufy security app is built for a whole home security set up with cameras, floodlight cameras, smart locks, and other sensors. To take advantage of that you would need to purchase the additional devices. Otherwise, the app is set up very nicely and it is easy to use and understand. Configuring the devices to your liking is easy as well. I really like this video doorbell and I find it easy to use, set up, and the quality and notifications are great.
Pros:
No monthly subscription

Cons:

2K Video Door Bell

The Eufy 2K Smart Wifi Video Door bell will be a great addition to your home security. This product will provide you a window to your home even when you are away. It will allow you to see who is at your door in crystal clear clarity and communicate with them through your phone or smart display and if you don’t feel like talking to them have your Eufy Door Bell play at automated message. The Eufy 2K door bell is full of amazing features, 2K Video and audio. Let’s go over the good and the bad of the Eufy 2K Smart Wifi Video Door Bell with a Chime.
Unboxing and Setup-
Right out of the box the Eufy Video Door Bell looks beautiful. It has a nice glass black finish and comes with a white chime. You will need to download the Eufy Security app to start the setup process. Do not make the same mistake that I made and install the door bell prior to installing the application. You will need to create and account first on the application and then add the Chime to the Eufy app. Once the Chime is installed, make sure your door bell is charged using the provided cable and add the door bell to the Eufy app. The chime will play an audio frequency to add the doorbell. If you install the doorbell outside prior to adding it to the application it would be a little difficult for the doorbell to hear the audio frequency and for you to complete the installation. Once both items are added you are ready to use your 2K Video Doorbell.
Features-
The Doorbell features a 2K display and let me know tell you the video quality is crystal clear and far better than my previous door bell.
You also have night vision, 2-way communication, live view option, motion detection, activity zone setup, Human & Pet detection with smart alerts which allow you to choose which options you like to turn on. The doorbell is embedded with an AI chip that will try and detect and screen faces and Crying Detection that will try to detect crying and notify you as necessary. Other features include pre-recorded messages you can play if you don’t want to speak to someone and different modes which include Home, Away, Disarmed, Geo fencing, scheduled and the ability to create your own. The other feature that I liked was the option to link the doorbell to Google Home/Alexa, giving you the ability to view and answer your doorbell on multiple devices. One other cool feature of this doorbell is the ability to use is as either wired or wireless, giving you the versatility to use it anywhere. Once you fully charge the doorbell it is suppose to last you about 6 months or you can also just wire the doorbell, which is what I did, to provide continuous power to it. The doorbell is also compatible with pre-existing mechanical and digital chimes.
This doorbell does come with a WIFI chime, giving you the ability to add a chime anywhere in your home. The Chime also acts as a WIFI extender for your doorbell in case of poor WIFI signal. The chime comes pre-installed with 10 different ringtones. One of my favorite features of this doorbell is NO MONTHLY FEE. The Chime comes with a 16GB SD card giving you the ability to store your video on your own unit without needing to pay some company a monthly fee for cloud storage. 16GB is plenty of storage for your videos and once your run out of room, save the videos you need to your phone and format the SD to start over again. This is definitely a win in my books.
The only thing I was not a fan off on this doorbell was the Field of View. My previous doorbell allowed a much larger FOV, capturing more of my front porch, allowing me to see my packages or anything else on my porch compared to the Eufy.
The Eufy 2K Smart WIFI Video Doorbell beat out my previous video doorbell in video quality, storage options, Face and AI recognition options and the ability to use this doorbell as wired or wireless. The crystal clear video was a clear winner in my books. I would recommend anyone in the market to check out the new Eufy 2K Smart WIFI Video Doorbell with a Chime.

I haven’t been able to use this device. The app will not allow me to make any changes to my device settings or update the app. So that means I am not getting full use of the features. As of right now I am only notified if someone rings the doorbell. Trying to trouble shoot I removed my doorbell from my account and now I cannot add it back to my account. It will say it was successfully added but not show up. This has been a nightmare and I am super frustrated and disappointed. I was trusting to get away from the ring doorbell. I have even tried setting the chime in different areas of the house with no luck. I have to set up the chime before I can add the doorbell.

Quick summary:
Thought this was smart of eufy to make a video door camera battery operated as well as having the option of wiring it. Some people might not have access to power lines or might be living in an apartment they can't alter. This system is a great solution with it's USB rechargeable batteries. Video quality is great and night vision is just as good. User interface is just as easy as to navigate and do what you need. Best of all Recording is FREE!!
I've used several different brand security camera eco systems, some of their advantages and other have great features. I'll cover what I like about the eufy Smart Wi-Fi 2k Video Doorbell.
Out of the Box:
Door Bell Camera
Mounting Plate
Wiring hardware (optional install)
Door Chime
16GB SD card
USB cable
Manuals
Installation:
Installing the eufy door bell camera was much easier vs other brand name door bell cameras that are wired only option. This meant I could put it on any side of the door without worrying about getting power to it via power lines. This door bell also has the option of being wired for maintenance free use. Eufy gives templates and hardware so the camera installation was pretty simple, all you need is a screw driver. Installation of the chime/recorder is even easier, just install the US power outlet adaptor on to the chime and plug it in a room you often occupy.
Use:
Setup and using the eufy camera system is pretty easy. The app voice guidance is a different and innovative approach to easy setup. Navigating around the app was pretty easy and intuitive. Buttons are easy to read and well placed so getting around to settings is just as easy as setting up the system as watching live video of your front door.
Pros:
Easy setup
Intuitive app
FREE video recording, other brands charge you a subscription base to get this feature
Cons:
could use different degree shims for installing mounting plate
Conclusion:
I'd highly recommend this as an alternative to the other brand name door bell cameras out on the market. I'm very happy with this system.

Excellent Alternative Doorbell

The Eufy 2K Doorbell is another great security option in the doorbell crowded market. As with my other Eufy products the build quality is topnotch. The external housing of the doorbell is made of metal and is IP65 rated. The installation is super easy and the best part is that you have the option to use it via battery powered or wired. If you don't have an existing doorbell you’re covered. This doorbell has an internal battery that can be charged with the included micro USB cable and it will last approximately 180 days according to the manufacturer. On the back of the device there are connectors for this to be installed via hard wired as well. First you need to download the Eufy security app, then you need to plug in the included wireless chime which acts as a local storage and the connection bridge between the doorbell. Then Install the included mount bracket in the location of your choice. There’s also a mounting wedge for those who don't have a front facing mounting location.
This doorbell is 2K so the video quality is really good. The video length can be adjusted from 5 to 120 seconds. This also has an option for human detection that way you don't receive notification from animals walking in front of your camera. The camera also has night vision which provides very clear pictures and videos. Something I noticed that I thought was pretty cool, when the video clip is recorded the camera will take a snapshot of the person's face and will place it on the bottom of the clip. You can tap on the face to enlarge the image that was pretty cool specially for theft prevention. The software has plenty of settings that you can play with such as adjusting the video quality, speaker volume, chime ringtone and more. There is also a power management settings for those who decide to use this on battery power.
This doorbell has plenty of options and features that compare to the other similar and more expensive devices in the market like to include your own recorded smart replies to answer a bell ring. Not to mention it also works with voice assistants like Google and Alexa. There's a lot to like about this doorbell but like all great things there are compromises. One of them was the way it mounts. Once you install the bracket you attach the doorbell to it, and it is held in place by a pressure pin. There’s a detaching pin included in the box but to be honest a paper clip will do the trick meaning it can be easy to steal. Now that being said, by the time they detach it you will have an image and video of the person of course. Although this is battery power the footage is not recorded in the doorbell itself it is stored on the chime meaning that if the chime loses power the doorbell won't record nor will you receive any notification if someone is at the door.
Lastly the battery included is non-removable, when the battery drains you will be a few hours without a doorbell until the battery is fully recharged. Note that those compromises don't sound as much but it was worth mentioning. Also because you can get the impression since its battery power that this device could work during a power outage. I simulated that scenario to come to this conclusion. The speaker could have been a little louder in my opinion, but now the microphone works really well. Overall this Doorbell is a great option for those who are looking for a great build with plenty of features that will fit in almost any type of installation. It has local storage which can be upgraded via SDCard and has no monthly fees to retrieve or watch your footage live, then this will be a perfect fit for you. In the box you get the doorbell, Wifi chime, mounting bracket, mounting wedge, USB cable, detaching pin, installation screws, manual and installation instructions.

SETUP:
The unboxing experience is nice. It comes with everything you need. This includes the doorbell, wi-fi doorbell chime, 16 GB micro SD card, mounting bracket, screw hole positioning card, mounting wedge (optional), jumper for original chime (optional), Extension Wires and Wire Nuts (optional), USB charging cable (unfortunately, USB micro), doorbell detaching pin (so it can’t be stolen off your porch), screw packs, quick start guide, and stickers saying you are monitored 24/7 by Eufy Security (yay!).
Setup is easy and straightforward. You download the Eufy Security app, sign in/setup an account, choose your product, and then it will walk you through the setup process. Which starts with connecting the wi-fi doorbell chime to your wireless network. Then pairing it with the doorbell which you’ll want to do before mounting as they pair to each other via sound. Then you mount the doorbell. It gives you plenty of examples to ensure you mount it the correct way for your doorway and lists all the tools you’ll need beforehand. You can also use the QuickStart guide. All instructions are extremely well done, and nobody will be left saying they were unclear.
THE APP:
I don’t like most security apps. As they are laid out poorly and often don’t give you a whole lot of customization. I’m pleased to say that is not the case with Eufy. Their app not only is very easy to navigate but it also gives you a bunch of customization options to fit your needs and it just works. Right on the front screen on the top you are greeted with the doorbell, how much battery it has, how good the wireless connection is, a bell to snooze notifications, how many new notifications you have, and settings. The bottom row has tabs (Devices, Events, Security, and Explore).
The Security tab is interesting as you can quickly choose how your system is running with Home, Away, Disarmed, Geofencing, Schedule, Custom. You can also customize all these modes to fit your needs. Last you can setup automation.
Inside the doorbell settings you can change the doorbell name, adjust if the Camera is on/off, Status LED (which detects motion), Auto Night Vision, and Logo Watermark. You can adjust the activity zone, if it will only pick humans, or all motions, and how close or far it should detect different lighting and viewing conditions. Which I really like as I have a long walkway to my door, and this can capture someone as they come around the corner instead of when they are on my porch. You have a Power Manager which lists current battery (in percentage), since last charge, used days, total detected events, false events filtered by the AI, and recorded and saved events. You can change the battery to be optimal battery life, balance surveillance, optimal surveillance, and custom. Which I really like. You can adjust video quality settings to be WDR, Streaming Quality (auto, low, medium, high), video encoding format (compressed, low compressed), and which device it will stream first to (phone, Alexa/Google smart displays). You can choose if it records audio or not, how loud the two-way talk is and how loud the doorbell tone is. You can choose which notifications to get (doorbell ring and/or motion detection), to open to the event or live view when clicking a notification, the speed of a notification (just text, include thumbnail, or full effect), and the app and doorbell ring tones. You can also add a quick response. Last you have guides you can go through. Like I said a lot of customization.
PROS:
- Crazy amount of customization to fit your needs and wants on both the App, Doorbell, and Wi-Fi Chime.
- Local storage means no cloud fees!
- Great video quality compared to others with the ability to choose high or low compression.
- Solid build quality with attractive overall design.
- It locks into place and can only be removed with a special key so someone can’t steal it off your porch.
- The app is easy to navigate and intuitive. Works well without any issues.
- All your data is encrypted locally and when streaming.
- You can set ringtones for your device and the wi-fi chime.
- It can capture motion, just when the doorbell is rung, or both. Can also spot just humans or any movement.
- Motion captures are highly accurate and do a great job at beginning early enough and ending on time. (So, when a package was delivered I saw the delivery man come around my corner, drop off my package, take a picture of the package, and walk back around the corner.) Which none of the other cameras I’ve tried have been able to do.
- Easy setup.
- Battery life should be long. They say 6 months. Or you can hardwire it so you don’t need to worry about charging.
- Great night vision.
- You can share who can also see notifications from the doorbell with your whole family or friends. And choose who has admin or basic access.
- You can choose if you just want notifications when someone rings the doorbell and/or when there is motion detected.
- The speed at which you get a notification is fast.
CONS:
- Charge time is long. They say 6 hours from 0 – 100%. LED will be solid orange when charging, solid cyan when charged.
- I can’t see the bottom of my porch where a package would be located. Part of that is likely from the location I chose but part of it is also not wide enough view.
CONCLUSION:
This is one of the best doorbell cameras/security cameras I’ve tried. It does everything I want it to, and it does it well, with great customization. It’s an easy recommendation from me.

I got this video doorbell to replace the original button doorbell. We had been looking to get a video doorbell for a while. My holdup had always been monthly subscription fees with other brands to be able to see your recordings. I don't want another monthly bill. Fortunately, the eufy video doorbell doesn't charge any monthly subscription fees.
The setup was quick. Altogether (without the hiccup, that I'll explain in a minute) installation was about 15 minutes. I hardwired it to the existing wiring from the original doorbell. You'll need to remove the existing doorbell, remove the wires from it and install the backing plate for the eufy video doorbell. It comes with wire extenders, screws, wall anchors, and wire nuts. I had to end up using the wire extenders due to how short the existing wires were. The instructions make it clear how to do all of this. Attach the two wires to the back of the doorbell and then it snaps into the bracket. Now, about that hiccup. After I installed the new eufy video doorbell and chime (it simply plugs into an electrical outlet which is a great feature!), I installed the app. What I didn't realize is that you will need to scan the QR code on the back of the doorbell. This meant using the metal pin in the bottom of the bracket to separate it and then scan the QR code. In fairness, this was 100% my fault as the instructions tell you to download the app and follow the instructions that it gives you, then the quick start guide tells you the installation instructions. It also comes with an angled bracket to offset it 15 degrees if you need to as well as a charging cable if you don't hardwire it. (They estimate 6 months between charges, but I can't speak to that as mine is hardwired and I haven't had it that long). If you do hardwire it, your old chime will still function. There is a button in the app to disable it and only use the eufy chime if you decide not to remove it.
The 2k resolution is enough to be able to see everything clearly. The app has a lot of features and is easy to use. You can set activity zones, sensitivity levels and choose from several chime options. It has three preset voice responses, "Excuse me, can I help you?", "Please leave it at the door", and "We will be right there". You can also record your own response that can be up to 10 seconds. I was at work yesterday (about 40 miles from home) and the motion alarm went off. Within seconds I got the alert. My wife had opened the door to clean the storm door. I used the opportunity to test the voice responses. She heard them clearly and I then talked to her through the doorbell. I was able to hear her perfectly like we were sitting next to each other talking. I set the activity zone too far out initially, and even with the sensitivity set to 1 (out of 5), it was still sending motion alerts to my phone every time I made a pass with the lawnmower. (The picture is the mower about 40' from the camera and it was still alerting). Some people live very close to a road, so make sure you set your activity zone properly to avoid a ton of false alarms. I have since set the activity zone to the walkway and not including the grass to avoid this. I also have a picture of what the doorbell sees at night.
Although it does work with Alexa, in my experience it is very slow. Whereas the app is immediate for viewing the video doorbell, when I ask Alexa to show me the doorbell, it takes an average of 16 seconds for the video to come up on the Echo Show. Also, while it is pulling it up, the Show is making constant thumping sounds through the speaker. Once the video pops up, the thumping stops and you get the audio from the doorbell.
Overall, with the image/voice quality, ability to get alerts and communicate through the app, and no monthly subscription fees, I would say it's great. One feature I would like to see is that the actual doorbell button was permanently lit up. As it is now, since we don't leave the porch light on, you would never be able to see the doorbell, much less where the button is. If they add that feature it would easily be 5 stars for me.

This Eufy video doorbell comes with all the features that you need in a security video doorbell without all the fees or subscriptions, this includes :
Live video, activity zone set up, video history, two way video audio, instant notification with a snapshot, multi user access and advance Al detection that you can set up to notify you only if it detects a person. One of the best features that I really enjoy, besides the awesome 2K clearly view on this doorbell, it’s the battery life, also you can set it up to be wired with your existing doorbell. The battery could last up to 180 days charged, depends of your settings and how busy it’s the area where you installed the doorbell. The 2K resolution helps you see clearly who’s at your door and surrounding areas. This Eufy is easy to set up and install, also includes 16GB SD card for storage. So far this is one of the best video doorbell in the market, specially with all the features, clearly view and settings within the app. This Eufy doorbell works with Google & Amazon Alexa assistant and it’s weatherproof.

Terrific Value

Who says good security cameras have to be expensive? The market is flooded with home security cameras/lights, etc. Most are either really pricey (Arlo) or require a subscription service (Simplisafe). For most people, I’d like to think there is a middle area where you don’t necessarily want a monitoring service, but don’t want to pay out of the ear for security cameras. In comes Eufy. Eufy is an Anker brand, who is mostly known for its charging cables and adapters (which are great). So it’s a company you can trust. With all that being said, I found the Eufy camera to be pretty impressive and worthy of your attention.
IN THE BOX
You get the doorbell camera, Wi-Fi chime that plugs into an outlet, wires (in case your house already has wiring), charging cable (micro-USB), two mounting brackets (one can put the doorbell at a 15 degree angle), some security stickers and mounting hardware. You also get a microSD card which is already installed in the chime itself.
SETUP
I judge security systems, or really any home networking or smart home device, by their ease of setup and integration into your existing system. If this is your first smart home device, then you’re golden. And even if you have a house full of Alexa or Google Speakers, you’ll be just ok, as the doorbell integrates well with both (I use Google Home).
The instructions are well thought out, both in print and the app. It took me all of 10 minutes to be up and running. The only snag was naming the chime, that failed. I eventually “cancelled” the setup process and kept the device’s name.
So the first step is downloading the app, and signing in. Then you can follow the prompts. You plug in and connect your chime. It gives you recommendations on where to place it in your house. It’s relatively small but does stick out from the wall a couple of inches. After that’s connected (which only requires you to take a picture of the QR code), you then connect the doorbell. Then the app walks you through mounting, asking you a few questions about your front porch and suggesting where to place it for maximum motion detection. You get a nice sticker that you can use to attach to your wall and lets you easily figure out where to drill your holes for the mount.
Now your setup could be a little more involved if you use wiring, which my house didn’t have, so I used the battery. Using the battery did require me to charge the doorbell first. I very much appreciate the built in rechargeable battery vs. wasting double A batteries. Charging really doesn’t take long.
But once you connect the two devices to your app, attach the mount to the wall, the doorbell just snaps in. It’s really secure and the only way to take it off the wall is to use a small metal pin (one is included in the box). Of course someone could steal it, but if your device is charged you’ll catch them in the act. I don’t think there’s much to worry about there.
REAL WORLD USE
So in addition to ease of setup and use, it also matters how well it works. I think the Eufy doorbell works great. Great footage and the motion detection is accurate. If someone walks within about 15 feet of your doorbell, it will detect motion and an alert will be sent to your phone. It’s default setting is to record 60 seconds of the event (although it can be adjusted). You can watch it live at any time.
It will also sent an alert to your phone when someone rings the doorbell (as well as the chime ringing) so you know someone is at the door. You might ask, why would I need that if it detects motion? But if your phone isn’t nearby to alert you to the motion or ring, you can hear it inside the house.
The Eufy is billed as 2K, but it doesn’t really stream 2K to your phone. Sure, the image is really sharp (more than you really need) but the 2K footage comes into play when you look at it on the computer from the microSD card. And your computer monitor might not be 2K, but the high resolution will allow you to zoom in without losing much detail.
MISCELLANEOUS
The Eufy doorbell has a lot of settings within the app to customize how it works based on your needs. For example, you can turn the volume of both the doorbell and the chime up or down. You can snooze the doorbell’s motion detector if you’re kids are playing in the front yard. You can set it not to detect motion if you’re home and only alert you when the doorbell rings. The app is relatively intuitive, there’s a lot of choices within the menus but they make sense, so it’s easy to navigate. You can set it up within Google Home (through the Google Home app), you can even send video to any smart home devices with screens. So it’s really flexible.
The only minor downside, is the saving of the footage. You are stuck with the microSD card capacity, which is both a good and bad thing. It’s good because you don’t have to pay any service fees to store it in the cloud. It’s bad because your history is what it is. Generally, if you have reason to check the video you would pop out your card shortly after the event and it will be there. But you won’t be able, to go back in your entire history because the event might have been written over because the card ran out of space. In my opinion, having the option to have the footage secured in your house, in the chime, it’s much better than worrying about the cloud.
Battery life is rated for 6 months, but that depends on the settings. So if you want to maximize security and record 60 seconds of an event when it detects motion, and say it’s detecting motion on a busy street, your battery life might be shorter. But again, this is customizable; there are options within the app to optimize battery life. It’s easy to recharge, but I do worry about the small pin that you use to take it off the mount. It’s easy to lose. Especially when you only have to worry about using it every few months. You could probably find a needle or something else that might do the trick (think the small pin that releases sim cards in phones), but I can see that being a hassle if you misplace it.
CONCLUSION
Eufy has built a reasonably priced doorbell camera that works remarkably well. Not to mention it’s extremely customizable to fit your needs.

It’s a nice product but the app that you have to use spams sales/offers. I would recommend going a different route unless you want to pay a company to have them advertise to you.

I am not new to security camera equipment of various types, ranging from hardwired local storage cameras to cloud based battery powered ones. This Eufy doorbell cam straddles the best of both worlds in a convenient and functional way. In my case it is replacing a doorbell cam from a certain company that we all use to search for things on the internet. I was very interested in having a doorbell cam that had as close to the ultra-high video quality I was accustomed to while doing away with the monthly fee to keep it running. Thankfully, I feel like this is exactly the ticket.
This doorbell cam is extremely easy to setup. It includes decent printed instructions and the app you must use with it also gives you a nice walkthrough. You have several mounting and use options as well which is very handy. My home has a hardwired doorbell that is in working order. So, I was able to use that existing system to add the Eufy cam to and use that power source and my original chime. You could also use the base station that doubles as a chime and run the cam on battery power. Two screws for the mounting plate, two wires to hook up, and that was it for the physical work. You use the app to setup your account if you don’t already have one, setup the base station/chime first, and then the doorbell itself. You can tell it how its hooked up in the process which will determine whether it should use a hardwired chime or the base station. Regardless, the base station is where the included memory card is located for storing video that is captured and is how the doorbell connects to Wi-Fi.
As far as connectivity goes, it has been very flawless so far. I can connect to a doorbell notice very quickly and be able to speak to someone on the other end clearly and with little delay. The sound quality is very good, and video clarity and quality are on par with my old doorbell cam which was excellent. Being WDR instead of HDR is a noticeable downgrade however I have gotten used to the difference already. You can adjust many different settings in the app for detection zones, sensitivity, night vision, recording length, and plenty of other things. I appreciate that it keeps video recordings concise to just the event and nothing else. This way, you don’t have to scrub through a bunch of nothing to get to the action. I was concerned this would cause it to miss things but so far it has not. I could change it from just detecting people to all motion but so far, I have not found any need to do so. The push notifications I get sent on my phone are informative and useful, for example I get a push notice if someone rings the bell that I can simply click to quickly answer.
I am very happy with the overall quality, the fact that my recordings are all stored locally with no fees attached, and how easy to use and setup this doorbell cam is. Saving money and taking control over my data is a very nice combination. The only drawback is the lack of facial recognition and the simple fact that the actual doorbell is enormous. But those are small details that I can happily overlook. I recommend this to anyone in the market for better security.

I decided to test this product because it was possible to use it without existing wiring and I thought it would be an easy way to add a doorbell next to my garage. The Eufy doorbell worked out very nicely. Setting up the system was relatively painless, although I did run into a snag after I added the doorbell base station using the app. I got to a screen that wanted me to name the base station and nothing I entered was accepted. I finally gave up and back out of that screen, and then realized the base station had been added with a default name. So then I had to add the actual doorbell to that station. I assume if I had been able to name the base station initially and continue, I would've been able to add the camera a little more smoothly, but overall it was still rather simple. I had the product set up with the app and installed at my garage within 20-30 minutes, and it's been working great. The app allows you to change the chime as well as a myriad of other things; eg. sensitivity, human detection only, etc. The video captures have been crystal clear, even in night vision mode. So far I'm very pleased with this doorbell camera.

Excellent video Doorbell

Video doorbells are almost becoming a must have and Eufy is becoming one of the top choices. I was first introduced to Eufy with their wireless battery cameras and they have been my favorite camera brand ever since. This doorbell offers excellent video clarity day or night and even when zoomed in still maintains good clarity. One of the biggest selling points for me with Eufy is local storage. This gives you peace of mind that your video is secure, something that cloud storage (in my opinion) does not offer. With this unit the doorbell that you plug into an outlet inside has 16GBs of storage. Having the doorbell like this essentially gives you two doorbells, the one built into the house and this one that you can place on another level of the house. If you don’t need a second chime and just want to use your existing one, you can disable the chime for the Eufy one in the app. If you do use the chime with the Eufy doorbell, it gives you multiple chime options more than just the standard boring bell chime.
Speaking of the app, this is one of the areas that Eufy has always shined for me. From setup to daily use the Eufy app team definitely has made an app that just works. The setup process with all the Eufy cameras I have has always been extremely simple, even a novice shouldn’t have a problem. The one thing I would like to see added to the app for this camera is pet detection for motion, my wired Eufy camera has this so I’m sure with an update this could be added. If there’s one area that could use improving with this video doorbell is motion detection, even on the highest setting and all motion detection enabled it does not detect a cat that comes up to door from time to time. I would think this is another thing that an update would be able to address. I’ve used a few different security cameras and video doorbells and they all have areas that could use improvement. If you need the peace of mind a video doorbell/camera adds, the Eufy brand strikes the best balance in my opinion with the least amount of compromise.

Overall I really like the doorbell. It does take nice videos and lets me know when there is just motion at the front door or a person. That is a two step notification if they walk up to the door and then ring the doorbell.
Installation was fairly quick and straight forward and it easily wired into my current doorbell chime as well as the chime. This allows me to hear it both downstairs and upstairs.
The one issue I have is that it is not real good at catching all activity in the street out front, but that is a little beyond its normal range and there is a tree with some branches which interfere with it. I actually removed some of the branches and that helped and plan to remove a couple more.
I like that the mobile app lets me see the videos and a live feed when I want. The wiring to the existing doorbell also provides charging power to the doorbell battery.
I upgraded the memory card in the chimes to 256 GB which provides lots of room for the recorded videos. That is the maximum memory card size they say will work with it.
