This SoloCam S220 set includes 2-Outdoor Wireless 2K Solar Powered Security Cameras and Homebase 3. This is an efficient package with the Homebase 3 that provides 16GB of built-in storage but is expandable to 16TB of storage with the installation of a 2.5" hard drive which is not included. The setup for this system was really quite easy after looking through the helpful quick-start guides for the cameras and Homebase and installing the eufy Security app. The app leads you through step by step to setup the Homebase and each camera and everything worked perfectly for me. Only having to do setup once was a welcome change from recent tech I've had issues setting up. These set up via 2.4ghz wifi. The installation of the cameras was just as hassle-free: Disassemble the mount, screw the base into your desired location, reassemble the mount and screw-in the camera. Because this is a wireless system, you can mount the cameras easily and quickly just about anywhere - with no need to hide ugly wires. Of course adjustments for proper placement are necessary. These cameras have a 135 degree field of view, so for me, that made the mounting fairly easy. Once mounted, there are several settings you can adjust within the app including setting up privacy zones for areas you don't want to record and specific activity zones you want to be monitored. Do you want the system to detect humans, pets, and vehicles? It can differentiate between them and you can choose any and all that you want. The Homebase can even learn to recognize familiar faces, with its built-in Artificial Intelligence (AI), and you can give names to the familiar faces so that future notifications will tell you who is there. These Solo Cam S220 are solar powered cameras which have rechargeable batteries. I'm uncertain how well these solar panels will perform in the often dark and gloomy Pacific Northwest. So for now, I have charged them with the included USB to USB-C cord. They claim this charge will last for about 3 months, and I am hopeful that is the case, coming up on the winter. When spring comes around, I will change the power to solar and hope for at least 3 hours of sunlight per day, which is what these cameras need to provide solar power through the night. At least I know they are built to handle heavy rain which is definitely something we get here. The S220 security camera is very responsive to motion and has bright and clear 2K resolution. It actually has surprisingly impressive clarity. You can look at the recordings via the app. There is infrared night vision which adds clarity to the black and white night video, but I will really miss a spotlight. Not only would that shine a bright light on an "intruder" but it would also provide much needed light when I'm outside on the very dark Pacific Northwest nights - taking out the trash cans for example. The S220 is a quality security camera, with crisp and clear 2K recording and the Homebase 3 is a great way to keep your stored recordings safe and offers AI facial recognition. A huge plus is that with this eufy Security SoloCam S220, 2-Outdoor Wireless 2K Solar Powered Security Cameras with Homebase 3 doesn't require a monthly subscription and fee. That is a big deal since for a lot of other companies that is a requirement. Though this is lacking some features I would want for enhanced security such as a spotlight and color night vision, overall, I would highly recommend this security camera set.

This product does not work appropriately. It seems to work okay when setting it up; its not too difficult with my android. But it will not notify me of video clips. It will not record video clips. They have escalated my concerns and I was told I would hear back in 48 hours. I heard but no resolution. Escalated higher. No word. I am no dummy when it comes to tech management and installation. Moreover, you cannot use your own external hard drive to expand the memory capacity to save videos. It requires a hard disk drive or solid state drive that uses the SATA interface and the HD must be inserted into the home station. Might as well buy a more expensive unit. The ethernet cable is very short. The package came with only three of the required four screws. I returned mine after giving it two weeks to resolve. My goal was to use this without a subscription because I already have an alarm system with its own cameras etc.

I have loads of Eufy products and love them all. Their products are high quality and incredibly innovative. This SoloCam S220 system with 2 wireless 2K solar powered security cameras and the 16GB Homebase 3 is no exception. I’ve tried other brands along the way and none compare in terms of features and functionality. You simply cannot go wrong with Eufy. In the box you get 2 Solocam S220 cameras, the Homebase 3, 2 mounting kits, 2 charging cables, and a quickstart guide. This is my first Homebase 3 setup so I was excited. Eufy makes this process a breeze and this one was no exception by just using the fantastic Eufy app. I had multiple products on my Homebase 2 but you can simply add the Homebase 3 to your current configuration by adding a device in the app. All your devices even on different Homebases show up together in the Eufy app. To setup the cams you just add each S220 cam to your Eufy app. The app walks you through this process in simple steps. It’s truly foolproof. Once connected there was a firmware update for both cams which took a few minutes. The complete setup probably took 10 minutes total. Once complete you’re good to select a mounting location. The app assists with this also with placement do and don’ts suggestions and even tells you if your cams location has a strong enough wifi signal. Of course these are solar powered cams so keep that in mind when considering placement. You can also recharge with a cable but why bother if you can get it placed in a sunny spot since you only need 3 hours of sunlight to keep them fully charged. Plus they’re weatherproof with an IP67 rating against snow and rain. These 2K resolution cams also look amazing in daylight or in the dead of night with their 2304 x 1296 recording resolution. The Homebase 3 is a fantastic upgrade too with it’s 16GB of onboard storage but what is even better, you can install a hard drive up to 16TB and with no storage fees. TheHomebase 3 is also smarter with BionicMind AI facial recognition capabilities. You can even add family members faces so they are recognized and identified by name. This is a great feature. I love the Eufy hardware but I also love the Eufy app. It’s full featured with a multitude of settings which allow you to configure your devices to your liking. You can set everything from streaming resolution, motion detection, recording resolution, power settings, security settings, alarm, and notification settings. I always use the geofencing setting to automatically arm and disarm the security system based on my proximity to home. I definitely recommend this SoloCam S220 system. Eufy cams give a great sense of security. Notifications are instantaneous when anyone approaches my property. It’s great just knowing when packages are delivered or when the mailman comes. I even take a peek sometimes just to check the weather at home or to see what the pets are up to.

Firstly these cameras look like a premium product and felt really solid in my hands upon first inspection. They aren't overly clunky at all but seem to be built really well. Digging deeper into the box I found the instructions which gave me all the information to get going. Being a tech-minded person I have to admit that I just skimmed the instructions but it was a great point of reference. Mounting these was really easy and it only involved me getting on my ladder and drilling holes into my house. Nothing overly complicated about this point and was very easy to do. I am not the best example of a handyman by any means but they are still up which is good. They are visible if you are looking for them but they don't really stick out like a sore thumb which is very nice. The app setup was next, and after a little confusion using it for the first time all became a little more clear as I pushed more of the buttons to discover what the camera could actually do. I got a notification on my app that there was movement spotted and sure enough it caught me on camera. Some of the stand out features of this unit are listed below. Solar Charging: The S220 is great at capturing solar rays and after about 3 hours in the sun it has full capacity. We will see how this ends up in the long term but for now this is great. 2K Resolution: While not 4k this is more than ample to capture every detail of what lurks in your yard, side of the house, or backyard too. It looks really sharp and detailed and I was quite impressed. Human Detection: This feature works great and I haven't run into any false positives with this yet. It runs well and lets me know when somebody comes into view. Night Vision: Thanks to infrared LED's you are able to see just about everything with full clarity and really sharp contrast. One of the best things has to be that there are no monthly fees. Everything seems to have a subscription now and it is refreshing to have something that does not. Potential Con: Sun-Dependent: We live in California so we should be fine for the sunshine level but if you are maybe in a cloudy or overcast place you may run into issues. Final Thoughts The eufy Security SoloCam S220 is a solid piece of tech that does what it promises. It gives you clarity that you wouldn't think possible in a home unit at a really great and affordable price point. I would highly recommend this overall.

In a world filled with security cameras, this system stands out. I didn’t want a paid subscription to get top notch monitoring. My ideal camera system stores recordings securely away from the camera, and doesn’t require hard wiring. They remain charged and smart enough to recognize what is in view. This system does all of this and more. With 2 cameras and a base station, you can connect up to 16 cameras. The install instructions seemed almost too simple. After unboxing and charging the cameras, I installed the app and the base station. The base station has 16gb of internal memory with the option of adding a hard drive. Note that the base station requires a hardwired connection to your home router. Following the app instructions, the base install was easily completed. Next add the cameras. They need to be connected to the base before mounting in your desired location. The cameras use wi-fi connection. The app made the install extremely easy, and provided a lot of helpful tips to get the best performance from the cameras. I truly believe that anyone could install this system. The stable mounting bracket offers a wide range of motion. Next you add familiar faces to the AI. Once completed I found the AI correctly identified known humans which helped reduce any false alerts. The quality of the videos both day and night are amazing. The reliability of the alerts stopped annoying false positives. If you want to add on cloud backup, they do provide that option, although I found the local storage to be more than adequate for my needs. The app supports configuring activity areas, motion sensitivity and alerts. The wi-fi range on the cameras is stated as over 600ft. and my testing showed they had a reliable connection at 500ft. I’d recommend this system to anyone looking for an easy to install, with set and forget ease of use.

I have owned several different wireless camera systems and eufy is one of the easier to use and is free of subscription fees. Eufy produces many different models and s220 is one the less expensive models. It is a good size (lighter than earlier solar models) and has good battery life lasting months if not years if it has 3-4 hours of good sun every day. The unit does not work with the eufy cloud but can work solo or with the included base or can store videos in the units internal storage. This of course means a theif can walk off with your videos and camera - if this is a concern attach it to the home station. The image quality is excellent but the streams are highly compressed to speed transmission and increase storage. I tested this for several days adjacent to a wired door bell from a different company and notice the eufy missed recording one of the less obvious motion events. The app allows adjusting the sensitivity for capture and gives many options for notification but no camera will record exactly what you want and not record meaningless things (including insects on the camera). The app is often updated and loaded with features but is somewhat inefficient if you simple want to take 10 seconds to check your camera. The human and face detection works sometimes and is sometimes helpful. The app has annoying ads. Bottom line is a good camera and ecosystem but could use some thoughtful workflow software updates.

Eufy quality improved with Homebase 3 enhancements

The cameras are exactly what I expect from Eufy. I got these to replace some very old Eufy cameras that have been working flawlessly for years. However, solar charging will eliminate the annual need to charge my old cameras. The real surprise however is the Homebase 3 (more on that later). The cameras were super simple to setup using the Eufy IOS app. The setup was very impressive as the app generates a QR code that you point the camera at and instantly the cameras join the same Wi-Fi network that the phone is connected to. It could not have been simpler. Although I have only had the cameras for a short time, I am extremely happy with them. The video is HD and as such, very clear even on the larger iPad. The cameras have stayed 100% charged nearly all the time. We live in Florida and have had nothing but sun since I got them. According to the solar dashboard, they have charged approximately 5% since being installed. Another solar Eufy Camera that I have does not charge until the battery drops to a certain percentage. However, these don’t appear to do that as I have yet to see them below 98%. The installation was the same as most Eufy cameras using the same mounting bracket as earlier models. The cameras really come to life when connected to Homebase 3. Note that the cameras are Wi-Fi and do not have to be connected to the Homebase to work. However, the functionality is greatly enhanced by connecting them. I was very surprised at the accuracy of the Homebase AI at eliminating false alarms. A huge improvement over Homebase 2 and other older cameras. You can even teach it specific faces and it alerts you by name when that person is detected. I have not yet added an optional SSID drive for additional space, but plan to. This replaced my Homebase 2 and as expected, but still surprising, all of my Eufy cameras connected to the Homebase 3. This is extremely nice compared to the old Homebase that only supported certain cameras, leaving several different devices to manage in the app. The system is now much more integrated. One thing I was very surprised at was that I found an option to connect to HomeKit. Everything I have read has said that Homebase 3 does not support HomeKit, which delayed my obtaining Homebase 3 since it was first released. I have not yet connected it to my HomeKit environment as I am afraid of it messing something up in my extensive HomeKit environment. However, I eventually will, and I am hoping I will be pleasantly surprised that it does support HomeKit. We will see. Obviously, I can’t comment on the durability of the solar panel (or even the cameras) since I have had them for such a short time. However, I am not concerned given that I have other Eufy solar camera models that have been working for over two years with no degradation in charging capacity. In my opinion, Eufy is far superior to most other security cameras. Homebase 3 is a real game changer with all the extra features. I highly recommend these cameras and especially Homebase 3.

Affordable camera systems have been a thing for a while now and I have used several different ones for my home and garage as well as my old business which utilized a lot of cameras. I’ve used wired and wireless, indoor and outdoor, strictly app based or with its own hub with a keyboard mouse and monitor. I’ve even used Eufy before and found the brand to be of high quality. I mention all that only to say I have used quite a variety and this systems’ set up was the quickest and easiest I’ve ever experienced. Install the app and follow the directions on the screen. Oh so many devices say that but so few seem to be as smooth and problem free as this set up was. The only thing that took much time was the 10-15 min each camera took to update. The app guides you wonderfully through each step. Once I was ready to mount the cameras I discovered the range is excellent. It seems better than my older Eufy setup. I could go anywhere in my yard and still show a strong signal. I think my favorite part is the local storage option. I really dislike anything subscription based. Like seriously dislike as I own about 800 movies and do minimal streaming. So I really appreciate the option of installing a hard drive for additional storage directly onto the Homebase to store your clips with no subscription required! Being solar is also a nice feature for this set up as the two cameras are mounted high in our backyard to keep an eye on our chicken run. This means that these cameras require minimal maintenance once installed. As far as the cameras themselves, they are quite good. The 2k picture looks fantastic; I can tell what chicken is which even on the ones that are the same color. Speaking thru the app to the cameras works well enough (a bit muffled) to get the animals attention. I probably won’t be using it to talk to any people but we did test that out and we were able to have a conversation back and forth. Though there were a couple of moments where it wasn’t the easiest to understand each other. All in all I really like these cameras. I like how well the app and the solar charging work. The smart AI motion detection is quite good. The option for onboard storage expansion is awesome. Other than the ok at best audio quality, I would rate everything about this set up a solid 5 star rating. If I knew someone looking for a versatile and low maintenance camera set up in this price range, I would absolutely recommend it to a friend.

Home Base Makes S220 Setup a Winner

I decided on getting this for the base unit and additional cameras as I already own a S220 camera for over 6 months. I had the previously bought camera on the side of my house and never had to recharge it. The base is important upgrade over just having a S220 solo, why, AI updates as the S220 camera at night always alerted on my AC. Now with the base this has not happened at all a major improvement on my setup. Was very simple to setup as I charged the 2 S220 cameras fully prior to setting up my new system. Once the S220 cameras where charged it took me about 15 minutes to get all 3 of my S220 recognized by the base unit. I was able to custom same the 2 new S220 cameras to the location I have used them in. I retired an older 1080P setup for this new 2k setup as my time with the S220 helped me decide that an upgrade to 2k was worthy. One item these cameras lack is a floodlight for night time. My fix for this is solar lights that only come on with motion and this is a good option for the lack of flood lights on the cameras. I should of bought a home base before as this makes my setup almost complete, next I will get a Eufy 2k doorbell. I do like that when I am not home I can view any of my cameras and set my security on or off. I would buy this setup again.

High Quality Surveillance without many drawbacks

The eufy Security - SoloCam S220 kit does not sacrifice any quality when it comes to providing you with the safety and security needed to monitor your property. To start the 2K resolution both at night and during the day does not leave any detail pixelated. You are able to clearly get shots of people's faces and license plates if need be. Pairing that with the Artificial intelligence aspect quickly within the Eufy app you can tap on someone's face and the API can associate whatever clips that person has been captured in. The solar aspect of the camera is perhaps the only drawback. The panel is quite finicky when it comes to how it needs exposure to sunlight and even the installation guide warns you of this. I would say the mount included also makes it a bit more difficult to be able to set the camera on an angle you need while also ensuring exposure to the sun without any part of that solar panel being blocked. On the plus side the camera does not drain battery too quickly so even if it doesn't get the sun exposure it needs you won't be recharging it daily. If you are trying to mount this on a porch or anything with an Eve, don't even try. It will not work. If just one portion of that solar panel is obstructed you will not get a charge generated. The camera is fantastic. The app and monitoring is fantastic. However be very much aware that if you cannot find a location to mount this camera you will be purchasing a solar device that truly cannot do what it is designed to do. You only secondary option would be to run a USB charging cable to the camera which then opens the port up to water damage.

    Essentially a trail camera

The eufy Security - SoloCam S220 - is essentially a trail camera. I'm serious. I have used a decent amount of cameras from all sorts of brands, both name brand and knock off. I have used PC based security software and cloud based storage. The SoloCam fits in the cloud based, but stores the cloud in your house. Depending on your usage, this is just fine. If you just want something to record motion, people, cars etc in an alleyway, this device works well for you. If you want to stream it towards a server, I would suggest looking for something designed with that in mind. For my use, I want to monitor around the house while I work from home. I want to see what the kids are doing while I am tied to my desk. They are all old enough to be out there on their own, but it is nice to be able to lay eyes on them. It is also good for security. Last summer, a 5 year old scaled my fence around the pool, boosted himself up over the railing and went for a dip. Because of my setup, I was too him before he touched bottom. Lets get to the nitty gritty of these eufy cameras. They are nice and durable, they should hold up great to the elements. However, you can only do live continuous streaming if they are plugged in full time. The battery will not last the day doing rtsp streaming. In event only mode, you only get clips of the event that triggered the camera. This works, unless you want to monitor as well. However, you can't have the best of both worlds. The events do not trigger when you have it set for continuous stream. The Homebase says it is a continuous recording and I do have a 120GB drive in there, but I don't have any video files. If you are looking for a set it and forget it solution, this will work well. If you want to monitor as well, there are far better options under $50 that work better.
