No Thread = frustrating and slow

I rent and can't have wired smart switches, so this was my very overpriced solution to installing a "smart switch" in my bathroom. Unlike the Eve contact sensors I have all over my apartment, this remote does not have Thread—and it shows. Response times can be extremely slow, to the point where you hit the button to turn on the light, nothing happens for several seconds, you verbally ask siri to turn on the light, THEN the single-button-press signal goes out and immediately turns off the light again. It's also super sensitive, so it's easy to accidentally long-press when you meant to single-press, etc. It's better than no "smart switch" at all, but I really hope a Thread update comes to this thing soon because it's immensely frustrating to use compared to my other Eve devices and everything else I own which does have Thread.

    Don't underestimate the Eve Button

It is easy to underestimate the function the Eve Button provides to a variety of HomeKit devices. It has three types of pushes for the button, one, two, and long. I am able to turn on/off lights in a scene with either a single or double push. You can also dim some of the lights in a scene using the long push. The Eve products are well engineered, but not inexpensive. Tech support does respond and seems helpful. It didn't really apply to this device, but is a part of the review as I have two other Eve products and wouldn't hesitate to buy more types if I didn't already have a large selection of other HomeKit devices

Turn on/off HomeKit devices without iPhone

Eve Button from Eve Systems is a remote control to turn on / off HomeKit devices such as Eve Energy, or to activate / deactivate any HomeKit Scenes that you created. It's a small device (about 2 x 2 x 0.5 inches) with an elegant enclosure just like Eve Degree and Eve Room. We have a lamp controlled by Eve Energy in our living room. I have an iPhone but my wife doesn't. Now my wife can turn on / off a lamp with Eve Button. Simply press Eve Button, and the lamp will turn on or off. Easy! We have AppleTV to work as a home hub. Eve Button works reliably on the first floor, even if we have AppleTV on the second floor. Even if you have a complex HomeKit scene, Eve Button can easily activate / deactivate it with a click (or double-click or long-hold). If you use HomeKit devices in your house or office, and if you want to make anyone have easy access to those HomeKit devices or HomeKit scenes, you might want to try Eve Button.

These BLE homekit devices are dependant on bluetooth proximity to a homekit hub. I wanted this to perform automated actions for my young son who wanted to turn on the downstairs lights from his room before he went down. Doesnt connect to the homekit hub unless youre in range. its useless.
