    Excellent Product/Design. Stylish and Functional

So I had been debating whether to get a solution to protect my home and all its IoT devices, but I worried about how complicated it would be. I'm not an extremely technical person so the thought of setting up separate firewalls was daunting. I've been using the F-Secure Freedome app for a few years to establish a VPN on my phone and have always found it very easy to use. So I thought I'd give their hardware a try. First impressions . . . . out of the box this is a very stylish piece of computer equipment. I know that what matters most (which I'll get to in a second) is how it operates, but having just moved into a new place with all new furniture I was happy to see that the Sense module can sit on the shelf and not be an eyesore. It even has a clock display so no one would think it's a router. Now for the set-up . . . . .really straightforward instructions that shouldn't give you any issue if you follow them. I had one small hiccup getting the Sense to connect to the internet (wired to my modem) because I didn't follow the instructions. I started plugging in wires out of order. :) When I went back and followed the instructions all was well. The app that manages the installation and setup was well-designed and easy to use. Not surprised given my previous experience with F-Secure software products. The app allowed me to easily manage connections and set SSID names and passwords (all things I normally struggle through, but this was easy). Finally, as for performance, works great. I've been streaming 4K movies through it with no signs of slowness or interference. When I've clocked the download/upload speeds through the Sense, it's just the same as i had through previous routers. I work from home so we tend to pull a lot of bandwidth when watching TV, logged in on my computer, multiple phones connected, etc. Sense seems to take all this demand like a champ. Overall, very happy with the product. Good quality, stylish design, good price point, works great and I feel more protected. Highly recommend.

    Not Ready for Prime Time

If you have a VERY basic network and require no customization this might work for you. However, it is buggy when you have a lot of devices and does not offer many options. It is not ready for prime time. In my opinion, F-Secure is doing a SCRUM style type of release with this product with consumers and they should not be doing minimal necessary releases with the public. Their customer service was great but when it came to returning the device they had no clue.

    Excellent IoT Security Option

As my home gets smarter with smart appliances, smart home speakers, smart thermostats, etc., every smart device seems like an opportunity for a security breach. The Sense router seems to be a great solution for this. First things first, setup was easy. It was essentially like setting up any other router and connecting to the app was simple. Then you just update your devices to the Sense wifi connection, and now you've got protection from any potential threats to your security. Sense tracks threats that have been blocked and will notify you about these, too, if you're into that. I like seeing what's being stopped, and I like that Sense blocks other tracking apps that invade your privacy as well. There are also parental controls with Sense so I can block Internet access on my ipad when I give it over to my daughter to use. The Sense app works to provide the same kind of protection when I'm outside of my home network, too, which is pretty cool. So, if you're making your home smarter by the day like I am, I recommend checking out Sense. There's a lot of great IoT out there, but a lot of it is new, so I don't want to have to worry about whether a company made their device secure enough.

Easy to Install, then Set and Forget

After doing some research, I found this to be the all-in-one solution I was looking for. After plugging it in and installing the Sense app (a few minutes to update itself and hook into your wi-fi), it takes over as the protected network. What this means is that I no longer have to worry about securing my individual devices; instead, all traffic goes through Sense for real-time scanning and protection through its F-Secure cloud service. Since everything connects to the Sense-protected network, it even stops attacks on IoT devices. Needless to say, it's nice to only need one thing to protect all my devices in real time with always up-to-date virus and malware definitions. I have also set it to block tracking (although you can leave this feature off), which has already cut down on the number of ads that make it through to my browsers. As a router, it has excellent coverage compared to my the standard Arris that comes with Comcast's Xfinity package. While I'm not a big fan of subscription-based services, this comes with the first 12 months free and then it's less than $10/month, which isn't much when it's covering everything in my home (currently a Samsung SmartTV and Blu-ray player, Xbox, Google Home Mini, Chromecast, Pixel, Pixel 2, two iPhones, and three laptops—a MacBook, a ThinkPad, and a Surface Book).

I bought it to keep hackers out of my computer and network. They still managed to hack into my computer so I returned it.
