We live this device. It looks great on the kitchen countertop and works exactly as described. The price was great and it was super easy to set up and start using. Liked it so much we bought another one as a gift. The only criticism I have is that it must stay plugged in all the time in order to work.

I got this for my Mother-in-Law she had to have one since I go my mother one for Xmas, so it was in sale for Mother’s Day perfect gift she uses Facebook a lot, comes with Food Network video Recipes and play games right from the beginning, no Netflix available so that a bummer but controls lights and can make calls easy too use so if your looking for a simple smart device pick this up

This is a very simple, easy to use device--perfect for what I need. Its primary function is to make and receive FB Messenger calls. No streaming of feeds, no writing messages or anything like that. Just a great way to do video chat with a really easy to use interface. If that's what you need, it's great!

I am usually leery of a first launch item. But this item is an exception. The build quality is excellent. Even the packaging was top notch, even better than apple products. The screen quality is extremely good. Setup took less than 5 minutes. It has apps, internet browser and full Alexa integration. You must be a facebook user and can call anyone that has a facebook account even if they dont have a portal. They will receive your video or voice calls in facebook messenger. My wife loves it. We purchased 3 of them. One for us and 2 for our grown children so we can keep the family in touch easier. It was like we were all in the same room. I highly recommend this product

The portal is very user friendly! We purchased two, one for us and another for my mother since she has been very sick. The portal allows us to call mom and actually see how she is doing as opposed to taking her word when she says she's "fine." Mom can easily answer the portal without having to get up and she has enjoyed listening to music on her own. This item is very useful for keeping in contact with ailing parents and fun to use with family members who live far away. The picture is awesome and it is really cool that you don't have to remain in one area for the portal to capture you while talking. You can actively walk around the kitchen and talk to the person on the other end and it follows you around. Family on the other end says that connection, picture and sounds are great. There is only one complaint that I still can't figure out how to deal with. If I have FB on my phone and the portal is connected to my FB, and I am away from home, I can't call myself to check on whoever stayed home.

We bought this for my parents to keep in contact with the family, (sure you can use a cell phone for video chat, but this just makes it easier and better for them to see). When I would get their video calls the video was sharp and clear. Set up was super simple too.

Easy to use and set up. Requires a Facebook account before use. Video calling is clear and easy. Haven’t used Alexa features but looks easy enough to set up. My non-tech savvy family members can use this with ease. I can take my aging parents along to their grandson’s sports games and even on trips.

I bought a Portal to spend more time with my girlfriend, I travel a lot and that distance is hard on a relationship. I LOVE how she can move almost anywhere in the room and it stays with her! Facebook just added an update that brought games like Words with Friends and Battleship to this thing! It’s so much fun! There’s a Netflix app and not to mention there’s also a web browser too so now you can go to just about any website! Think of this like it’s a new age home phone! If someone has a Facebook account, you can start calling them right away!

This portal is cool. I use it to talk with my 3 year old granddaughter. It's so easy to use She even know how to use it and call me on it. So much fun especially with the storybook feature. I bought 2 of them, 1 for me and 1 for them.

Bought this to keep in touch with family after moving away for school. Really easy to use and able to multi-task being the camera will zoom in/out and follow your movements so you are not confined to one small area.

Great picture, sound, and easy to use. No freezing when communicating. I get to see my parents every day. I can have coffee and conversation with mom half way across the united states and add people to the conversation. Love it!

I love the way the camera includes everyone on the screen of the portal. It is simple enough for my older parent to use. I was disappointed that I cant call it with my phone but I have to use messenger. It doesnt have many apps but the ones it does have are very useful.

Easy to setup and connect to the facebook account. Great to use the other apps to listen to music and even catch up on the news. Starting to explore the video options with Watch but enjoying it overall.

Brought this on Thanksgiving and have been using it for 4 days now. The Video calling through Messenger is awesome. The only problem I have with this device is the very few number of apps available . Also you can not control any 3rd party app using Alexa or Portal.

I got this so that I could FaceTime my out-of-town parents, especially when my kids are with them. The call quality, size, and volume are great. It was super easy to setup. My parents love it.

This is a great device for video communication. Easy to keep in touch with friends and family. However, for one who is not a fan of Facebook (got this for my wife who is a user of Facebook), the Echo Show might be a better option. While Alexa is included with the portal, it is somewhat limited. I am unable to view security cameras with the Portal, but can do so with the Echo Show 5. However, because this was such a great price at $79.99, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get this for my wife to use for communicating with her family in other countries. Deducted 1 star for inability to view my security cameras and for having to go through Facebook Messenger. Yes, I know it's called "Facebook" Portal. Just not a Facebook fan. I'll give 1/2 star back in that it actually has a faster response time than the Echo Show 5.

Love this Portal! My kids and parents are in different states so it’s nice to be able to chat with them on the portal. Great quality! And easy to use! My 4 year old uses it everyday!

First, let me begin that I bought this product already have researched the limited things that it can do at the moment. I bought this item knowing the hardware is above the rest in video calling, having the camera that follows you and focuses on you while you go on about your life while on an active call. I have n doubt that facebook will add more features including the addition of google home aside from Alexa. Already having Alexa, you can do most everything you use you Alexa except for their own video calls, I believe you have to do that through the portal (facebook). I don't understand how some reviewers have bought this item without doing proper research and then complaining how limited it is.

Not only can you facetime hands free you can also search the web, listen to music and watch youtube all on this screen. I will purchase the larger one to use iny kitchen. Great product I like it.

The grandkids love having grandma read them a story over the portal. It has features similar to Snapchat. You can pick from a list of stories and the portal displays a scene to the grandkids that goes along with the story. Simple to install and link to Facebook. It has a nice feature to present a slideshow of your Facebook pictures when not in use. It’s amazing how it follows the person around. It’s great to have a full room view when talking to someone. Didn’t realize that holding on to a phone while talking is cumbersome compared to this.
