In the last decade or so, Bethesda has earned a reputation for creating expansive, immersive worlds to play in. They've done it again in Fallout 4. If you've played Skyrim or Fallout 3/New Vegas, you know what to expect. Fallout 4 raises the bar with two main innovations: 1. The crafting system, where you can modify almost every weapon or piece of clothing you can put your hands on, and you can build an entire network of settlements, building an entire economy. 2. The Power Armor. In previous Fallout games, power armor was treated more or less like any other outfit. In Fallout 4, not only is power armor harder to come by, you have to keep stocked with fusion cores to keep them running. Now, wearing power armor feels much more like you're in a walking tank. Yes, Fallout 4 is buggy. Given the size and depth of this game, some bugs are inevitable. But given the immersive environment and compelling stories, I'll gladly take a few bugs in exchange.

I have played fallout 3 and new Vegas so the arrival was well received for this game. I actually purchased a ps4 just so I could play this game. The upgraded gameplay is noticble. The minor tweaks such as the ability to use power armor from day one are nice, the fact that all weapons are 100% and do not need repairing to make them better and to maintain their functioning. Weapon and armor upgrade are as they should, you can add to your current models using workstations and scrap junk items this is how you increase the value and strength of your attack and defense. The ability to build settlements is pretty cool as well, creating a safe place for settlers is great because you make an easy place to find bartering and a spot to store anything you don't want to carry along daily. Overall do yourself a favor and play the game. It may take somebody who is not used to the ideals behind fallout to get the excitement the rest of us get but it will come.

Fallout 4 is full of features and stuff to do for $60 game. If you're new to the series like me then you'll discover the game play as fresh and different than other shooter type games. If you're a hard core veteran of this series then you may be disappointed in that not much has changed in the game play from previous iterations of this video game. In fact many Fallout veterans have expressed that they wished more had been done differently with FO4 but it's still a fun game to immerse yourself into. PS4 version is what I chose to play with and I haven't experienced any of the technical bugs some may have. If you're into modding then PS4 version is not for you, go with the PC version. Overall it's a very fun game if you like open world type games with guns and all sorts of crazy hijinks. The added music stations to listen to make this game enjoyable and different which is what I look for when purchasing a video game for myself.

I was an avid player of both Fallout 3 and New Vegas with around 100 hours in each and this doesn't disappoint. I found this game to have much more character depth and the voice acting was unbelievable. The graphics were also a major step up from fallout 3 and NV which were both quite dark while this game offers more vibrant colors. If I had to find an issue with it, the only minor thing I can bring up is the dialog. I didn't like the one word options like "sarcastic" because you basically have no idea what your character will say. I actually ended up loading back a few times when an option unknowingly prompted someone to attack me. I also do miss the karma system because your actions really don't have an consequences in this game. Sure your follower might get mad at something but they get over it quick. But as far as a game goes this is fantastic and I highly recommend it to everyone.

This is a must-play for fans of the series and even newbies. Keep in mind it is a challenging game that will make you work for everything you earn. However, each time you finally get the "ah hah" moment and beat a tough enemy or clear a brutally hard enemy infested building i can ensure you the rewarding feeling makes it all worth it. I love the game and the atmosphere it provides but there are several faults as with EVERY Bethesda game. First, the human character models are average at best, the graphics are not quite up to par with other recent AAA games (Witcher, RotTR, Batman etc etc) as well as shaky dialogue and scenes. A lot of the dialogue options lead to the exact same outcome giving you a feeling to just hurry up and skip through the chat at times. That being said, none of this should deter you from picking up the game TODAY! Overall score i give it a 9/10 and it is absolutely in the running for GOTY imo.

Another unfinished game filled to the brim with game breaking bugs that will have you logging 400+ hours into completing 35 hours worth of gameplay because of constant restarts and hunting online for ways to fix glitches. This instant classic will have you yelling "GET OUT OF THE WAY DOG!" and "I ALREADY KILLED EVERYONE! WHAT DO MEAN CLEAR THE HOSTILES!?!?" right out of the gate. The mind bending graphics are expertly crafted to look like they were made on hardware that actually exists in the game, in some alternative 1950s where computer graphics didn't really exist yet but game companies did. The gameplay will make you feel right at home, like a time capsule to a game from 7 years ago which, itself, had outdated gaming mechanics. If you love media hype and being into the same things as your friends because a commercial told you to, this is the GOTY for you! All in all I give it a 7.5: not enough Charizard.

When I first tried this game (having already put 200+ hours into Fallout 3 years ago), I felt the beginning was slow and disappointedly put it down for a few weeks. Determined to give it another shot, I'm now 25+ hours in, only a few major storyline quests in, and fully hooked! This game has all of the aspects of a Fallout game that I love - endless side quests, some with more story and intrigue to them than the main storyline; tons of collectibles and upgradeable weapons (most of which you'll find in those side quests); and this time with vastly improved gunplay that doesn't feel tacked on like it did in previous versions. The VATS system integrates perfectly with FPS aspects to merge RPG gameplay with fast-paced shootouts and the dim, dreary atmosphere is punctuated perfectly by a truly engaging and non-intrusive soundtrack. Highly recommended!

I've never played or seen any Fallout games in the past, only heard of them. This game actually came as a free add on when I purchased my new ps4 last week. I have had my ps4 for about 4 days, I've been playing this game for about 4 days, and I have not slept for 3 of them... That should give you some sort of idea as to how addicting this game can become. If you are a fan of Grand theft auto, red dead redemption, or uncharted (I am of all 3) then I promise you will love this game. Pure open world adventure, explore every inch and detail in the vast wasteland, build settlements and create a new world for the remaining good people in Commonwealth all while fighting off Raiders, mutants, and radiation. There is truly NEVER A DULL MOMENT while playing Fallout 4. You never know what's ahead of you... Or behind you in most cases either!! Highly recommend picking up this game and forgetting life as you knew it!!

After hearing great things from friends and coworkers, I decided to give this a go. I am not new to RPGs and Bethesda has never disappointed me. This game is sort of like the post-apocalyptic skyrim. At first, I wasn't really into this game. I was a bit disappointed after all of the hype. I kept playing, and after a few more hours after getting more acclimated with all of the different things I could do, it became a great game. There wasn't a tutorial to my knowledge, which was probably why I wasn't enjoying it as much, not being a Fallout veteran. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes open world RPGs. Story isn't terrible, but you don't have to stick to it. You can play this game for months (in game time, not actual time owning the game). The expansion/s should be promising, as Bethesda has yet to disappoint me since the 90s.

I will start out by saying I didnt give this game much thought really prior to purchasing it, its just another "Post Apocalypse" game, tons out there already etc. etc. I had not played any games in the Fallout Franchise due to this same blind thought about them all being the same, I mean how many time can you rehash post war life? I was wrong, straight up wrong, this is a solid game, and it has likes for almost every game player type available, except online multiplayer capabilities. I can understand though, it would be hard to manage the crafting abilities in this game vie online servers, especially the building of ones own base. Crafters dream, Quest runners should be thrilled, companions, mutation, zombie, raiders, check!, it has them all, for the solo minded players. Very good game, I will have to go back and see if I can get my hands on the other games in the franchise.

Fantastic follow-up to Fallout 3, minor issues

Fallout 4 is a fantastic follow-up to Fallout 3. It incorporates the best of Fallout 3 along with the best of its spinoff, Fallout: New Vegas. The addition of settlement building is a nice but unnecessary component, allowing for a refreshing break from the usual questing and exploring. The graphics aren't the greatest I've seen on PS4, but the amount of content and detail in individual aspects of gameplay (settlement building, weapon modding, armor modding, and, of course, Power Armor collecting) absolutely make up for that. If you loved Fallout in the past, you should definitely go for this! If you've never experienced Fallout before, it may be hard to jump into as there is very little hand-holding and explaining, a feature that was intended (Bethesda wants you to feel as though you ARE your character, trying to figure out the new world that is the nuclear wasteland of Boston).

This game is, in many ways, the best Fallout yet. The combat and storytelling are greatly improved over previous games, the exploration is as compelling and addicting as ever, and an awesome new crafting system adds depth to the experience. There are flaws, however. Settlement building is fun, but the tutorial and controls are poor. The conversation system is a major step back from previous Fallouts. There just aren't enough choices in dialogue, and sometimes your character doesn't say what you expect them too. The biggest problem here, though, are the bugs. This game is very buggy, with very poor performance on PS4. It's just not acceptable to me to have a game released in this state in 2015. Despite these issues, this is a great game, and well worth playing, although you might want to wait for some of the kinks to be worked out via patches before you jump in.

Man you already Know this game is amazing. If you have played any of the previous fallout games this one is the King of the series. You get a dog what?!/ That's siiiick the world is so huge its hard to do a mission because you are always finding something else to explore. The graphics are stellar and you to top it off you can build your own houses and décor them with items found in the game. Let me say that again you can build your own house run electricity and have turrets to protect it.. So you need to stop ready this and go play this game, trust me its way better than this rinky dinky review.. now excuse me im going to go look for some bobby pins

What can I say? Another superb addition to the FO Franchise. If you've never played anything from the franchise before, you might be disappointed by the graphics if you compare FO4 graphically to some contemporaries (for example, Witcher), but FO4 is a knockout if you dive into the game. The colony building is a lot of fun in addition to the faction-choosing that you must engage in. The ability to upgrade/modify your armor (and heavy armor) and weapons is impressive. PLUS, recently, actual user-generated MODs are available on the PS4, which adds another whole layer of excitement. Highly recommended for anyone that likes real RPGs, character building customization, post-apocalyptic survivor environments, and tactical AND first person shooters. You can choose if you want to go stealth or not. 5 Stars.

I have played Fallout 3 and new Vegas, was never able to get into them like oblivion and skyrim. That said, I held off buying Fallout 4 thinking it would be more of the same, to my surprise, they improved and tweaked the gameplay so much, that you can play it as a First Person Shooter, I personally never liked the VATTS system that slows down gameplay so you can target specific body parts, I prefer real time action gameplay, that VATTS is still there for those that want it, but it's more of a choice not a necessity. The very addictive build your own compound in the cleared out settlements, is just icing on this excellent cake, very fun and addictive, powered suits of armor, multiple companions to choose from to go along for the ride, a must buy for action RPG fans.

Like so many others, I had waited a long time for this game to come out. When it did, oh what a great disappointment. I will not give this any more stars than it deserves. When big companies like Bethesda create these games and release them with tons of bugs and expect us to just smile and accept it is not acceptable. I just do not understand how all of these tech and game gurus that write about these games and rank and/or rate them can give this piece of garbage such a high rating while writing about all of the bugs and disappointing game play. I have not read one blog, article or post from the "experts" that did not have a ton of bad stuff to say about this game but then rate it so high. One would think they were all getting a kickback from Bethesda for proclaiming its greatness. Don't waste your money.

I don't often have much time to devote to gaming, so I rarely get to play a game through to the end. The same holds true in this case, but I have recently had the pleasure of playing the opening stages of Fallout 4 on the PS4, and it was amazing. The storyline is engrossing and the gameplay is relatively easy for a casual gamer like myself to handle. The game's open environment is amazing for its graphic quality and its detail. I can't say much regarding the action sequences yet, but I am definitely looking forward to becoming more immersed in the challenging experience that this game provides. It's well worth purchasing for every gamer, and for members of the Best Buy Gamers Club, you get the 20% discount on all new games, making it an excellent buy. Try it soon; you won't be disappointed!

I love this game. Its super addicting so watch out. I turned it on to play for an hour and 8 hours later, at 4 am, I started to fall asleep at the controller. You can play day on days just organizing your basecamp, and have a blast doing it. This game is basically perfect for anyone searching for a Oblivion/ Skyrim type of role playing game but set in a more steampunk or 50's modern feel. I love the artwork, the weapons, the characters. I did, and still do, have to search online to educate myself on what seems like simple tasks and builds, but whatever, i'm not 14 and games take a bit longer for me these days. Super fun! If I didn't have a career and a wife I would probably be playing this game a majority of my time. Actually, writing this is taking time away from this game.

I have only put about 15-20 hours in the game, but so far it is amazing. The game is probably a contender for GOTY award. This game is massive with tons of exploring. It actually took me two days just to even get to the second main quest because I was just exploring the Wastelands. The graphics could be a little better, but it still looks good. The biggest improvement on this game is the shooting mechanics. The shooting is smooth and you don't have rely on VATS all the time. There are still bugs present as with all of Fallouts and ES games but they don't take away from the pleasure of the game. Overall this game is probably never going to leave my shelf. Even after i beat the main story, the DLC is probably going to be worth the money so buy the Season pass with it! Easy 4.5/5

I don't personally play this game, I bought it for my husband. He played Fallout New Vegas on the 360 before we got a PS4, and he loved it so I bought Fallout 4 as soon as we got our PS4. He has spent so many hours on it, I think it's replaced Skyrim as the game that's been played most in our household. And that's saying A LOT. I had no idea before buying how in depth the game was and how much there is to do, besides regular story missions. Building and maintaining your settlements takes up a lot of time and is a fun way to play when you don't feel like questing. Also, the character customization is pretty phenomenal. I doubt I could ever play the game because I'd just spend hours tweaking my character's looks and never actually end up playing.
