This film has a wonderful blend of interesting characters, beautiful scenery, and romance. It feels like a classic romance brought into the modern age. Each character is multidimensional and strong. The Blu-ray itself is a fantastic transfer with sharp images, vibrant colors, and bold sound treatment.

This movie is a remake. I like this version, although I can't really compare it to the older versions since I haven't watched those. The actors do a very good job and the movie moves along well considering it is not an action movie. If you like British films, I think you would probably like this too.

This is a great love story. Carey Mulligan and Matthias Schoenaerts where wonderful and I love Michael Sheen. The only reason I didn't give this movie five stars is that I got angry with her when she married the wrong man and I felt bad for what happened to Michael Sheen .

The story was good as it led you though the twists and turns of a very independent woman looking for respect as well as love. It does have the requisite happy ending, but it was emotionally engaging along the way. The acting was great. The scenery and the score were both beautiful.

Loving many types of movies I find the selection at Ft Gratiot Best Buy to be really good. They have a great variety of genre, media and price range. I like being able to find current as well as much older films AND have a choice of media that suits my budget.

I had no idea what this movie was about. The title was familiar, but I'd never read the book. I am so glad that I watched it in the theater. What a grand movie...for the story AND the scenery! So romantic. Thanks to my Best Buy Rewards, I got it for SUCH a deal!!

The blu-Ray was top quality. This is the best way to see a period piece. The movie was interesting. I had no idea what it was about or how it would end. It wasn't my favorite movie, but I really liked the scenery and the story unfolded like a novel.

All of the leads were strong in this updated version .It is shot beautifully .My only complaint is that they could have developed the characters a bit better .I wanted to care more ,but ultimately did not get the emotional wallop this story can provide.

I own the previous dvds of hte movie, and I was really lookkimg forward to the remmak of this flm.. I was not disappointed nor was I let down. The cinimatopic was great the story is unforgettable and the film put it all ttogether in a masterpiece.

I took one look at the cover of this Blu-ray and thought it was one of those cheesy films based on the Nicholas Sparks novels, but that, it is not. This story features a strong female lead with superb performances by a brilliant ensemble cast.

Different than the Julie Christe version, stays closer to the book. The 60s version has great color on the reissued bluray and superior actors, but the new version was good, well acted and different from the original Thomas Hardy version.

I loved this movie very much. Probably the best one ice seen this year. They captured what Thomas Hardy had written. I'm a huge fan of his work and this movie took me back to that time. I love classic love stories and this has captured my heart. Great acting by all!!!

My daughter loves romance type movies that has some plot to them. This one did. She has a small collection of them and said she will watch this one many times in the coming year. She was happy with this selection and hopes they come out with more.

I was very happy that this DVD was on sale at my local Best Buy. I had wanted to see Far from the Madding Crowd but it came and went before I got to the theatre. Very nicely done and the the added special materials certainly make for interesting viewing too.

I saw this movie on an airplane and I didn't get to see the end till I purchased it. It was a good movie overall. A classic movie about love and choosing the wrong person to love and the consequences of loving the wrong person.

Disappointed that the leading lady didn't spare herself all that heartache by doing what she knew was right to begin with. I guess if she had done what was right to begin with though, there wouldn't have been a movie.

Good story based on a classic book about a woman with 3 suitors and she seems to make all the wrong choices. Great acting. Good story. If you enjoy romantic drama that is set in the past you should enjoy this.

This is a terrific -- and mostly faithful -- adaptation of the Thomas Hardy classic with a first rate cast and particularly strong performances by Carey Mulligan and Matthias Schoenaerts. Beautifully filmed and gorgeous to look at, too.

Great cinematography and sets and costumes draw you into this film version of a classic love story by Thomas Hardy. The heroine has not one, not two, but three gentlemen callers. Who will she choose, if any?

Romanace...false romance....pitty romance...and finally true romance. This tale takes you to a past time in history but you will soon discover the complexities of the heart witnessed are timeless.
