Works awesome! Definitely heats up a space for around 100sqft I would say by the time it really gets going, and super easy cleanup since the ashes fall into the bottom piece. Definitely is lower smoke than normal fires once the fire gets going, but was a little hard to get wood pellets to light.

The Farenheit Flare comes in two sizes, a smaller 13.5 inch and a larger 17 inch size, other than the size, they are exactly the same. Made of stainless steel, they have two pieces, the bottom stand/ash catcher and top fire box. Both have strategically placed air vents to allow more oxygen into the bottom of the fire box and at the top of the double walled firebox side which acts to force heated air at the top of the flame to cause it to burn hotter thus making for a more efficient burn and removing the majority of smoke. The small size and compact storage make this a great product for a smaller back yard or to take camping. According to the instructions you can burn either compressed wood pellets or small logs. I tried mine with just the pellets which were purchased at the local tractor store and were very inexpensive. The instructions state to fill the firebox with 3 millimeters of pellets which is about one pellet in depth. Never having used wood pellets I didn’t know what to expect and thought they would light fairly easily, I was wrong. By the time I got the pellets to ignite I had about an inch of pellets in the fire box and several bits of torn up paper and cardboard hoping these would catch. Again, I was wrong. After numerous failed attempts at getting the pellets lit, I finally broke down and hit them with a light drizzle of charcoal lighter fluid and success. (Note, the instructions say not to do this) I will definitely use a fire starter brick in the future. Once I had the fire lit, it took a few minutes to see the heated air causing the secondary burn at the top of the fire box. To say this is smokeless is a bit of an understatement, there was some smoke but considerably less than an open pit fire. The initial round of pellets burned hard for about 15-20 minutes before requiring additional pellets to be added. Adding a healthy cup or so of pellets brought the flames back for another 15 minutes or so. Clean up is easy, simply dump the ashes from the catch bin and fire box once the unit cools off. I am anxious to spend more time with this fire pit, learning the right mix of pellets and logs to keep it burning without having to constantly feed it. So far I have not been able to find a website for Farenheit. Other manufacturers of similar products have accessories like covers, carry bags and cooking grates which would be good to have. I like the Farenheit Flare 13.5 inch fire pit. The stainless steel construction should keep it looking good and burning for years. Yes, I recommend this to anyone looking for an easy to use way to make a fire.

Wow! All I can say is WOW ! I have a friend that has a different vendors version of this and it is a much larger one. I was a bit skeptical in choosing the 13.5in one but I wanted one that I could easily move to different places on my patio but also that I could easily put in the back of my SUV and travel with. The Flare is perfect! My first fire with it, I just used some small starter brush and some fallen twigs from the yard. Started like a champ. I then used some store bought smaller logs, the kind that the grocery stores sell in bags. By the time I just had two logs on it, it was producing an amazing smokeless heat that totally blew my wife and I away. We were worried that the unit would be more decorative fire pit vs. heat producing fire pit, we were wrong! These are all designed basically the same way so that the air comes in from the bottom and up through the sides of the 2nd level. This feeds the quicker start and more heat while minimizing the smoke. The design of this unit is solid and impressive. I can see this lasting for years. I agree with another reviewer that it would have been great if it came with a travel bag that could double as a cover. We haven’t tried pellets yet because we were so happy with the use of the small wood and sticks from my yard and additional small logs. We are also planning to cook hot dogs over it this weekend. The heat is amazing and kept 4 of us warm for a few hours. Overall, I highly recommend. I love the size of this because I have several different spots on my patio that I can use it. I also like the idea of taking out to my driveway for Halloween for trick or treating, It’s very easy to move around.

If you are in the market for a portable fire pit I recommend that you give this product a look. I am very much looking forward to using it over the coming winter months with my family and friends. I am very impressed with the design and function of this portable fire pit. The ventilation holes and multi-level design very effectively limit smoke. It is not completely smokeless, but it is as close to smokeless as you can get while still burning wood. The small size is why I chose this product because I wanted something that I could use at home and while traveling. It does not come with a travel case, but I am using the box it came in to store and transport it. It is constructed of heavy gauge stainless steel so I expect to get many years of heavy use out of it. I have no doubt that it can withstand heat and the elements quite well.

Like the description states, this is mostly smokeless. It really depends what you are putting in it. I personally put in some mesquite wood to test initially and it worked perfectly. The fire caught pretty quick using some tumbleweek accelerant and the logs which were about 8 ish inches long and I put two in, caught flames pretty immediately . I really like the small 13.5 frame and it is perfect for a small patio. Just ensure you have a non combustable floor you are putting this pit on. The only issue I see is the way to put out the pit and how to clean it out effeciently. After my initial run we put water to make sure the embers were put out and soaked the pit with water. I am sure this is not the correct way to use or clean it, but this is how we extinguish camp site flames sans dirt. I am going to use rubber gloves the next evening and pour out the remaining water and then try to filter out any remaining wood into a trash bag to toss in the bin. I do wish there was a recommended extinguish and cleaning method written or suggested somewhere. But other than that we roasted hot dogs pretty quick and also did smores. Be careful with the marshmallows because this does direct heat really well. So the food heats up really quickly. The initiial smoke does go away after a half hour when the wood catches flames. It's very well constructed and do recommend it. I also wish they included a travel bag for this smaller version.

Great pit for pellets and portability

tl;dr This fire pit works great with wood pellets (for a pellet stove) but shouldn’t be used with standard cut firewood. It seems to be built well and should give years of back yard or traveling enjoyment. Fire has fascinated mankind for years. People are captivated by it and look for ways to control the wild energy it gives off. Fahrenheit has tried to do just that in a 13.5” diameter stainless steel container. The nice thing about such sized container is that it can easily go in the trunk for an evening out in a friend’s back yard or deck. The base holds the flame chamber high enough off the ground that nothing will get singed or overheated. It also fits neatly into the combustion bowl for convenient and easy storage. The bowl has air vents on the outside and on both the top and bottom of the bowl area. This was a design inspired by the popular Solo Stove and allows for heated air to help burn off residual smoke particles. In using the fire pit, it’s as functional as it is portable. I used wood stove pellets as it’s not wide enough to hold standard cut fire wood. 5 minutes have lighting the fire starter, I had a roaring fire covering the entire container. The amount of heat coming off it was most impressive and could be felt from 4-5 feet away. The initial 1” deep of pellets burned off in ~45 minutes. As it was burning down, I added another 2 red solo cups full of pellets to keep the flames going for another 30 minutes before that, too, burned to ash. Throughout the fire burning, there was relatively little smoke. The most smoke was while the initial pellets were getting caught. After that, the heat allowed for complete combustion. I did not have as much luck with larger chunks of wood. I'd cut down some pre-cut firewood and it ignited well. However, it didn't burn down as much as similar wood burned in my large Solo Stove fire pit. I had to take off a star for that. Cleaning is very easy. Ash falls through the holes in the combustion chamber into the supporting base. Taking the base off lets you dump out the ash on the ground. There were a small number of larger pieces in the chamber in the morning after I lit the fire. These were also small enough to be swallowed up by the grass next to my deck. Overall, this is easy to use and allows for a very nice fire. The burn pan has small enough holes that it will prevent pellets from slipping through, while also letting sufficient air to get through. If you’re looking to burn real wood, you’ll have to cut it down yourself or get a larger size pit. Fahrenheit makes a 15” diameter pit in a similar design. While not as portable, it’s more flexible in the types of fires you can create. Pellets can be gotten online, at Home Depot, and/or Tractor Supply. I found the cheapest price was when I looked for pellets without regard which tree the wood came from. Based on how much I’ve used, I’d guess the 40 pound bag will last ~40-50 hours of bright, exciting flames.

Since I entertain often at my place and the nights have been getting colder, it called for a fire pit just to sit around, having beers and just talking with friends and family. Enter the Farenheit - Flare fire pit. Summary: Nice firepit, I like it but wish I got the bigger 17" version. Easy to assemble and clean up as well as put away when not in use. The good thing about the smaller version is it doesn't take too much space. I recommend going for the larger version. Pros: Looks great Quality Stainless Steel Easy Assembly Easy storage when not in use Cons: Small, less capacity for firewood

Great portable fire pit.. its on a smaller side of fire pits, but thats what being portable is. It is smokeless as long as you follow instructions (keep the wood below the vents).

Used it this past weekend and worked great for what we wanted but the wood I had was a bit larger and stuck out the top (see pics) so didn't perform as well with the smoke as I am sure it will if I keep wood inside it. It gave off a good amount of heat though for a small profile and clean up was easy. The kids had a blast making smores and it worked for what we got it for. I would recommend going for the next size up though if you intend to use larger pieces of wood, otherwise if you intend to cut them down this will work good. Looking forward to getting much more use out of it this fall/winter when it finally cools down enough to take advantage of the heat it gives off.

It's smaller than you would hope for a permanent at home Solution but it's perfect if you need to move it around or take a camping. Best scenario is to have whatever firewood is burning stay within the inner diameter for a consistent smokeless experience. I found that sifting a shovel around it in a circle made the oxygen coming through the holes act more as a burner on the stove and really lights up a massive Flame. This thing is great if you can get it on sale.
