The Sony 50mm f/1.8 is a great budget-friendly prime lens that pairs nicely with my Sony A7C II, offering sharp images, beautiful background blur, and a lightweight design that complements the camera's compact body. While the autofocus is a bit slow and can hunt in low light, especially for video, it performs well enough for portraits and general photography, especially with the A7C II’s excellent eye-AF. Good lense for the price. I use this lense for my kids portraits and my barber pictures. It does everything i need it to do. I read some reviews talking about how slow it is in autofocus and the picture quality and my reply is u get wat u pay for. Its one of the cheapest lenses sony makes. Nonetheless a great lense for the price i have absolutely no issue with this lense at all. I paired it w/ a sony a7riv simply to jus have something to shoot with upon purchase until i can get another lense because I completely switched from canon and im starting from scratch. This lense on 50 full frame is waaay wider than on my canon crop sensor so it took some getting used to but it literally was jus an adjustment. Good buy

Don’t let the price fool you–this is an awesome lens! I use it for both video and photography, and it performs exceptionally well for both. It delivers sharp images, fast and reliable autofocus, and is great in low-light conditions. Highly recommend for any photographer/videographer who wants a prime lens but doesn’t want to break the bank.

What can I say? It’s a nifty fifty. The picture quality is great for how cheap it is. It’s also super compact so it’s great for travel or street photography. It’s a fixed 50mm focal length so you will have to move around to get the composition you want, but that in the end makes you a better photographer I believe.

I actually really like this lens for the price. It's a great beginner prime. Images are reasonably sharp and bokeh is good. I shoot on a Sony A6400 so there is a 1.5x crop from my APSC sensor but Images are still outstanding with this lens. However, focusing can be slow to find the subject. Another reason for the 4 stars is the lens has some green or purple color fringing in images. This isn't much of an issue because I can remove most in post. I still highly recommend this lens for beginners.

This nifty fifty lens is perfect for starting out. I don't recommen getting the camera that comes with a standard kit lens. Take that extra money and get this one. Thank me later!

As other reviews point out, the autofocus speed (slow) and noise (loud) cannot be understated. If these things don't matter to you and you are looking for that nifty-fifty lens on a budget, don't hesitate. I bought this just to have the 50mm option in my kit, knowing I'll eventually upgrade. It's a great lens to use for starting out at this focal length.

LOVE this nifty 50 for my Sony A6000. Budget lens on a budget camera and still produces INSANE shots. Would recommend for any starter photographer.

Despite its price point and the videos online you watch about this lens, the YouTubers who spend about $2k on a lens think this one at $249 isn’t worth it. Well, in my experience it easily competes against and even outshines the Nikon 50mm prime lens in quality of image and accuracy of the image as well. Color reproduction is very nice and sharpness is amazing. Especially in video. The auto focus of the lens is snappy and it holds the subject while they are in frame. All in all, yes I know 50mm is very common/standard but it is one of my favorite lenses now. Don’t go by what you hear. This lens is worth every penny.

This lens is amazing I have a Sony a5000 it doesn’t pair well with this camera because it’s a fixed zoom so you can’t really adjust the distance. BUT I tried it on a newer Sony and it worked beautifully. Just double check if it’s compatible with your camera before purchasing.

Great Lens. Used it at a baby shower and it worked flawlessly. Colors are true and crisp. Images are sharp. AF is good. Bokeh is on point. Well worth the money. Construction is good, and as expected for the price range. Love how lightweight it is. Easy walk around lens. Hood is longer than I would like, but aside from that there are no complaints.

I bought this lens with a Sony a7 III mirrorless camera. That came with a Sony FE 28-70 mm F3.5-5.6 OSS kit lens. Let me tell you, that kit lens is NOTHING compared to this 50mm f/1.8 lens. Obviously, there is some zoom in that kit lens, but it does not take sharp pictures like this little guy does. Super crisp and detailed shots! You will not regret buying this lens! It takes great landscape shots as well as superb portraits! The bokeh is really nice. Highly recommended! And especially for the price. DO IT! BUY IT!

Super budget, cool. The glass is very beautiful and the picture is sharp, great bokeh, good light sensitivity, beautiful colors.
