Beautiful Images
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried using my alpha mount 85mm 1.4 lens with an alpha to e mount converter on my Sony a7riii, but did not like the loss of functionality. I wasn’t willing to spend the additional $1000 for an e mount 85mm 1.4 and am so glad I chose to save the money and purchased the 85mm 1.8 instead. This lens shoots beautiful images with soft creamy bokeh. Great Portrait lens.

Great Lens For The Money

While I'm no professional, this lens did a really good job. My first thought was that it wasn't all that great. It was when I started to edit that I realized how good it actually was. With my cheaper Tamron Lenses, there's far more editing involved, especially as far as lens correction and that sort of thing. The colors on the Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 are spot on. This is a must have lens to add to your collection.

great lens

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great lens for the price , I tested a Samyang 85mm 1.4 and the photos are really good , but for video it is a disappointment because of the focus that does not work well , not to mention that the lens is very big and heavy , while the sony 85mm 1.8 is good for photos and videos it works very well, and its size is excellent, if you are in doubt buy this lens because you will not love it.

BUT the quality of photos were amazing. For most shoots this lens is perfect, but if you need it to focus fast and actually this may not be it. I could've had a bad unit but I missed some photos of kids on the beach due to it focusing too slow, breathing or missing. I swapped my 50mm on just to be sure and it was perfect. A7III and updated.

Doesn't get better than this for the price point

You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference in photo quality between this guy and it's more expensive big brothers (Batis and Gmaster). This lens is less expensive because there's no weather sealing and it lacks a stabilizer or digital readout. Other than that, no short comings.

Within the first couple of shots I know this was a game changer. Coming from the nifty fifty to shooting with this elevates the detail tremendously.

Great portrait lens

I used it on a photo shoot doing some portraits. The picture came out amazing, the boca really made the picture pop. My clients were extremely happy with the pictures. I would definitely recommend this lens to anyone trying to add to the collection, or to anyone needing a great portrait lens.
