Fantastic tasting coffee. Feels cheap and lame it doesn’t have a water level sensor for how cheap they are to implement. But man it’s a fantastic automatic machine.

Nice look, good features, but the app is lacking and unclear. The reservoir leaks, the unit I got didn't brew 10 cups, but 9 1/2, leaving 1/2 a cup of water in the reservoir to then leak onto our counter. When I checked the valve at the bottom is defective and thus doesn't seal properly, thus it leaks even when engaged in the machine. At nearly $400 one would expect better quality control. Setting up a brew it's unclear how the different setting between the two are used. I tried to schedule it using the app and it didn't brew. There is no feedback when you click the selection switch on, one would think it will now brew for 7:30am, but it did not, I then set it on the screen and checked the box and it did brew, but not all the coffee I requested. I VERY carefully filled the reservoir to 10 cups, exactly, as stated it brewed 9 1/2-ish. Hard to know as there was water on the counter and some in the reservoir. The coffee tasted good, but as my title says, it was not ready for primetime and most certainly not worth $370.

The first thing I noticed about this coffee maker was the black matte finish. This coffee maker is very stylish and quite the addition to a modern kitchen. The set up with this coffee maker was very simple. Downloading the app was effortless. I love the fact that you can program this from your phone as well. The features on this coffee pot are not any that I have seen before. You can set this up to a specific person liking as to how they prefer their coffee. This is located on the profile button on the pot. This coffee pot does not have a lot of bells and whistles; it is quite simple. You have one button that controls all of the functions. You just press the knob to select an option and turn the dial for the other options. This coffee is sooo hot. I have never had a coffee pot that gets the coffee as hot as this does. Some coffee pots have such a bitter taste when you brew it but this one gives the coffee a smooth taste. You can do alot of things from the app as long as the coffee is set up in the pot and ready to go. This brewer also tells you how much coffee to use to ensure you get the best tasting coffee possible. I went back a couple hours for a cup of coffee and ironically when I poured it, it was still warm. For this pot to have very few buttons it has lots of features. You cannot go wrong with getting this coffee pot if you are considering it.

    Fantastic Pour Over Coffee

This coffee maker is sleek, advanced, flexible, high quality, and makes fantastic coffee. As soon I opened the box I could see and feel the quality of the product. The setup was very easy and while the instructions are clear it is so intuitive that they aren't really needed. Once plugged in, the machine turns itself on when you open the top (or hit the button on the bottom left). From there, you choose your type of coffee and it will ask you which roast and how many cups. Then it will tell you precisely how much coffee to add and which filter to use. Hit the button again and it starts brewing and tells you to the exact second when the coffee will be ready. The single button control for programming and running the machine is remarkably easy to use. The coffee comes out hot and full of flavor and aroma. The insulated metal carafe keeps the coffee hot for hours without any evaporation. When finished, the machine is really easy to clean, just the filter and the carafe. Besides making some of the best pour over coffee I've ever had, the machine just looks really cool. It makes me happy every time I walk by it in the kitchen.

I am an avid coffee and espresso drinker. I have been through many different machines or drip and espresso. I have spent too much money at coffee shops. I was blown away the Technivorm's product and now Fellow has changed the game. For more background, I've gone through all the machine types and typically have used them for a long time before moving on. I would say, you either fall in the avid espresso enthusiast that's willing to go through the semi-tedious process of a good poor, and everyone else. All the different drip brewers are all typically variants of the same basic thing. Moccamaster was the only brewer that truly set itself apart and brewed an amazing and consistent cup. Their limitation is tech. It's totally no frills, not even a timer. Fellow has bridged that gap in quality drip brewing and I hate to say it, but Technivorm's market share is going to change. When it comes to espresso, I went down that path. I love espresso and espresso based drinks. I came to realize it is truly an art and not matter what type of machine you have, it's a craft. Even the $2k fully auto brewer just can't compete with doing some steps yourself. So you have to decide, are you okay will allowing the pros or those with time at a coffee shop deal with excellent espresso? Or will you realize an amazing drip style brew at home, with much less effort, will change your life. The review: Look: Clean, simple, and a good look on the counter. They did good here. White or black. Fits into every kitchen. Flavor/Brew: I never spent too much time with pour over, because I am impatient for it and didn't want more stuff to buy. I typically only get it at good coffee shops. I tried store bought (only for the taste test) and two different coffee shop fresh grounds. It's important to note, you must buy a cheap bag from the store and run the whole thing through. Brewers need a little breaking in. That being said, wow!! Consistent, excellent temp (customizable), and the aromas and flavors produced were accurate. I used three very different flavored beans and we blind tested them. I am usually the worst at this, and I hit all three. No doubt this is in the top 2. Also, it's an SCA certified brewer. Pretty normal at this price point but a good addition. Temp: You can control this and its accurate. I really appreciate this feature. App: I still have yet to take full use of this but I love the feature. Setting everything up just right and then hitting a button will be perfect. We have multiple different users in the house that can each have their exact preference. This is the future!! Cleaning: Very easy, parts come apart easily. Overall: They nailed this in every way. This will be a game-changer. The only reason I say top 2 brewers, is because I now own both. The tech is what separates them. If you have the budget and are looking for tech, go for it. If you already own a Moccamaster and aren't looking for new tech, you will still be plenty happy. Overall, no one will regret this purchase. However, the only thing that will yet to be known is its long term durability. It's a new device and we won't have that understanding for quite some time.

    Awesome Pour Over Coffee Machine

My wife and I have a coffee problem. We have multiple higher-end coffee machines, but they are all designed for single cup servings. When it came time to make a pot of coffee, we had your basic, no-frills, 12-cup coffee maker. But the Aiden coffee machine has become a regular part of our morning routine. We've used it for about a week now, and here are the highlights about what we love: - Guided Brewing makes first time using a breeze - Brews great tasting coffee, last cup as good as the first - Lined carafe doesn't burn the coffee, hotplate turns off after brewing - Coffee stays hot in the carafe, without being on an active burner From a hardware design aesthetic, this thing is very sleek looking. All even the carafe is the same color / shade of black to match the entire coffee machine. The design feels intentional, parts seamless align and connect, and the overall feel is one of sturdiness. The Aiden comes with a blue filter cup for making larger batches of coffee, and a green cone one for making smaller batches. You can also adjust the water dispersal when brewing to match which filter cup you're using. Fellow's did an amazing job designing this thing! It's kind of funny, because there are so many other bells and whistles that I haven't touched on here because I just love having great tasting coffee in the morning! I have tried swapping out the blue filter cup for the green one, when I want to make 2-4 cups of coffee and again, it tasted great! We love everything about the Aiden, and the only complaint, if you could call it that, is that we wish the carafe was a bit larger. The Aiden brews up to 10 cups of coffee, and we wish it could have gone up to 12 cups, but we're happy with it regardless. If you're serious about having great tasting, barista-style pour over coffee, and you want to be able to make it more than one cup at a time, then the Aiden is what you're looking for!

First of all, if you know anything about coffee makers, you know that the Fellow makes excellent coffee products. This precision coffee maker is no exception! I got this coffee maker because everyone in my family enjoys a good cup in the morning. The moment I pulled it out of the box, my wife commented on how stylish this coffee maker looked in our kitchen. It is definitely an upgrade from my previous one! You can see and feel the quality of this coffee maker out of the box. I was particularly impressed with the heat retentive thermal carafe. After reading the instructions, I downloaded the Fellow App, to fully enjoy all of the features that comes with this coffee maker. I will say, that downloading the app is not a necessity, but I would recommend getting it. It takes a little bit of time to get used to having many options to prepare your coffee, but that is what makes this coffee maker different than all the rest. The dial is very intuitive and easily guides you through the coffee making process. Just like most coffee makers, you can program when you want your coffee made and if you don't want to mess with the options, you can select one-button brewing. What really makes this coffee maker stand out from the rest is that you can actually taste the difference! Everyone in my family drinks the same coffee in the mornings and this past weekend we all commented on how much more delicious our coffee tasted. That reason alone, made this product worth it! If you take the time to try all of the options, you will find out which is best for you that will produce the best coffee.

Makes a GREAT cup of coffee

I want to begin this review by saying I truly love a good cup of coffee! To be honest, I had never heard of Fellow or their products, but I am glad that I received this Fellow Coffee Maker. When I received it I had already downloaded the App (more on that shortly) and was waiting patiently for it to arrive. Pros: This coffee maker is a great example of good things come in small packages. It is a lot smaller than the maker that I replaced, and I must say it is very pleasing to look at, it matches our other appliances very well. The best thing about this coffer maker is how GREAT it makes coffee, when I opened it and used it for the first time, I was kind of overwhelmed by all the features, and how many different ways you can adjust the water to coffee ratio, and the temperature, but trust me, with trial and error you can finally create your own profile for a morning cup of joe, a cup for lunch, and one for the evening. It comes w/ a lot of different brews pre-loaded that are really great, and I love the idea that Fellow has w/ this coffee maker that it recommends the water/coffee ratio. It comes w/ two small packs of filters that you can begin brewing right away. I like the way they designed the handle to remove the water canister, it keeps the mess down w/ spilled water. It’s easy to clean and even will alert when it needs to be descaled. The carafe is all metal and it really maintains the coffee temperature while you are enjoying the cup that you have. The dial is simple to scroll through the different setting options, such as day/time/altitude, etc. This Fellow Coffee Maker comes packaged as if it is a delicate object, Fellow really spent the time and effort to make certain the coffee maker arrives in pristine condition. Cons: I have only one issue w/ the coffee maker that was very frustrating, it has nothing to do w/ the machine itself or how it brews coffee, when it comes to those things its 5 stars and higher. The reason I gave this 4 stars is the App. It took several days for it to FINALLY recognize the coffer maker, again it was no big deal I was still able to make a great cup of coffee, but it would not allow me at first to do anything, I could not even connect it to wi-fi, it kept telling me that my internet password was incorrect, and I knew it was not. I deleted the App several times and then re-installed it hoping it would help, but it didn’t. Finally, after several days it finally accepted my Wi-Fi password and I am now able to use the App. Again, it has nothing to do w/ making coffee, but if you are going to pay this much for a coffee maker it should not be a problem w/ anything. Having said that, I would still highly recommend this Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Maker.

Well packaged product with very little plastic material. Removing the coffee maker was easily done using the two knobs on either side of the box to unlock the bottom and lift the entire box up. The coffe maker is a sleek yet simplistic design that is more Art Nouveau than an appliance. After washing everything which included; the removable water tank, carafe and removable lid, the two different filter reservoirs (cone or bowl shaped) and the removable showerhead. I had to brew a cup because they had me at pour over. Set up includes the knob on the bottom of the maker and a display on top. I picked my language, chose wi-fi so I can schedule in the app, set the time and then decided if I wanted to use the advance brew where I enter all the info or let the machine step me through. It kind of sounds like rocket science however it was simple. The default temp for brewimg is 205°, being a bit klutzy I turned it down to 195° which was perfect. It first spritzed the coffee grounds for blooming and then 30 seconds later it made the coffee, all toll about 3 mins. I have a manual pour over carafe, where I boil water over the grounds, I promise you the Aiden is so much smoother tasting and I would put it up against of the coffee stores. I am very impressed

This is a high tech coffee Nerd's kind of coffee pot. If you're looking for a high tech coffee pot that will guide you through every step of your morning brew process, this is the coffee pot for you. The Aiden coffee part is built fantastically. It looks and feels like a top of the line coffee maker. The knob feels perfect scrolling and the small circular screen makes the Aiden feel particularly high tech. Brewing coffee with Aiden takes all the guess work out of making coffee. Using the guided brew mode the coffee maker will tell you exactly how much coffee to add to the basket so you get a perfect brew every time and if you use Fellows coffee subscription it will adjust every part of the brew process from time, temperature and weifhi of the grounds so you get the optimal brew. Overall if you are into getting a scientifically perfect brew every single time. This is the coffee maker for you. It may feel complex at first, but it will definitely give you a perfect tasting cup of coffee each brew.

Beautiful and effective with a few quirks

There's no shortage of options for those who enjoy coffee at home, and increasingly those options are coming at the high end of the market. From handmade European options to internet-connected smart gizmos, making a cup o' Joe ain't what it used to be. Fellow's entrance into the home drip coffee maker market, the Aiden Precision Coffee Maker, aims to brew pour-over quality coffee while offering endless flexibility and customization. Controlled with a single press/turn knob and a small round screen, Aiden presents a wealth of options, from straightforward "instant" brews to custom brew profiles allowing control over every aspect of the brewing process. It features Fellow's well-known modern aesthetic, but all this goodness comes at a high price. The Aiden arrived extremely well-packed in heavy, high-quality cardboard. No styrofoam in sight! The unboxing experience is premium, as befits the price, with everything tightly and carefully packed and presented to the user with the twist of a few plastic "screws" and the pull of a plastic handle. I certainly wouldn't worry about damage in transit with the way Aiden showed up at my door, and I'm definitely keeping the box for future use in a move. Aiden itself is yet another beautiful design from Fellow, already well known for their coffee grinders and kettles. It's sleek, modern and minimal and looks absolutely gorgeous on my counter in black. Much has been said online about Aiden's all-plastic construction (save for the insulated metal carafe), and while it's high-quality plastic, it's still, you know, plastic. The texture is nice and it certainly doesn't feel cheap, but as is expected with plastic there's a bit of flex in the body and the panel gaps aren't always perfect. My unit doesn't have any major flaws and again, it's beautiful to look at, but for the price I really have to fault Fellow for not using even one single piece of metal somewhere. A hint of metal on the front -- say, the piece below the screen and the control dial -- would go a long way to making Aiden feel as premium as the price suggests. Speaking of the screen, it's simple and mostly legible, but the UX does operate as if the screen is square, meaning some elements move out of view of the circular edges as you move through the system. It's an interesting design quirk and I don't have a major issue with it, but I can't help but think how nice it would be to use Aiden with a larger, rectangular screen covering most (or all) of the shiny plastic area. The small screen is offset a bit by using the Fellow app, which connected with my Aiden quickly and easily and after downloading the latest firmware to the machine allowed me to sync the unit's time and explore and, if desired, customize the built-in brew profiles. These profiles are the heart of Aiden's highly customizable "precision" brewing and allow for control over temperature, time, ratios, number and length of brew pulses and blooms and more. For coffee experts, this is how you'll dial in exactly the cup you want; for the rest of us, this is a bit overwhelming, but Fellow helpfully includes profiles for light, medium and dark roasts, as well as an "instant" brew option that activates with a press and brews whatever amount of coffee and water you've put in the machine. Speaking of adding coffee and water, Fellow has really nailed this part of the user experience, in my opinion. The water reservoir is well-marked and removable for easy filling, although the fill area is a bit narrow but totally manageable. Fellow supplies two brew baskets -- one for full pots and one for small batches -- that feature nifty handles, use standard basket and cone filters, and clip in satisfyingly. Aiden is smart enough to know which basket you've installed and will prompt you to use the correct one for the amount of coffee you're brewing. It will even let you brew small batches directly into a mug while prompting you to install the carafe for larger batches. I'm a pretty big fan of the carafe, too, which has perhaps the easiest to clean design I've ever encountered. The removable lid is edge to edge, meaning when you've taken it off the entire carafe is open for cleaning: no more hard to reach edges or spouts. I was a bit disappointed in the heat retention of the carafe at first (the brew-through lid has a wide open hole) until I realized you need to return the carafe to the machine after pouring, using the brew basket bottom to cover the hole. Doing this keeps the coffee inside warm for as long as any other insulated carafe I've used, as the entire brew area is sealed for heat retention during brewing. The carafe pours quickly, smoothly and without a mess, although there's no stopper, so be careful transporting a full carafe. How about the coffee? I'm no expert, but it tastes very good to me, as good or better than the high-end brewer I was using before. Two things stand out to me in particular. First, brews are incredibly consistent; each batch brewed with the same settings tastes identical. The precision computer-controlled nature of Aiden's brews really stands out here. Second, changing the settings actually changes the taste of the coffee. I've been brewing a medium-dark roast and I can absolutely taste a difference between the preinstalled medium and dark profiles (I've enjoyed the medium profile with this particular blend of beans). Again, this speaks to the precise control Aiden offers over brewing, and lends credence to the notion that changing Aiden's brew parameters actually produces a change in the final product. Overall, I really like this machine, and it's quickly become my daily driver for at-home coffee. It's beautiful, generally easy to use, and produces excellent results consistently. It's delightfully compact and very easy to fill, brew and clean. The interface is simple enough for a novice, but offers an impressive amount of control over every aspect of the brewing process, especially when using the companion app. All that being said, this is a very, very solid four-star product for me, but a few missteps keep it from a perfect rating. Although well-built, Aiden's all-plastic body misses the mark for a premium product at a high price. Even one panel of metal and/or a heavy, burled metal control knob would elevate the construction notably and help to justify the high price. And while the level of customization is commendable, Fellow pretty much leaves you to your own devices. I find myself longing for a guided, step-by-step customization routine, one where the app could ask me questions about the beans I'm using and what sort of final product I'm looking for, and then suggest a customized profile based on my answers. And while Fellow offers customized profiles for their "Drops" coffee bean purchasing program, I'd love to see downloadable profiles for a range of beans -- say, 10 or 20 most popular roasts, or profiles that are designed for specific types of coffee beyond light/medium/dark. While the construction of Aiden isn't easily modifiable after purchase, the customization and digital interface absolutely is, and I am hopeful Fellow will continue innovating and expanding their app and Aiden's profile-based interface. I think a guided profile creation tool and suggestions based on bean type and personal preferences would go a long way toward justifying Aiden's price for both the novice and the professional coffee-drinkers among us. Until then, this is a gorgeous machine that produces great results, but be prepared to tinker, and to overlook the all-plastic body at this premium price point.

Best Dark Roast Brew I've Ever Had!

The Aiden Precision Coffee Maker by Fellow is a coffee maker designed to replicate making pourover coffee. It has the same dial and small round display as my Fellow kettle. Using the controls actually on the coffee maker is simple. The menus scroll as you turn the knob and you depress the knob to select. My first brew I chose the Instant brew option and the smaller brew basket. I loaded one scoop of coffee for each of the two cups I chose to brew and brewed it right into my thermal cup. I was disappointed in the average tasting first cup. For my next brew I chose the guided brew menu option. The menu let me again choose how many cups to brew plus the roast. The menu told me how much coffee to load (the large letters stated how many grams and the small letters stated the number of tablespoons). The menu asked for 4 scoops of coffee for two cups, twice what most of us are accustomed to using (perhaps this is why I didn't like my first brew). The result was a great cup of dark roast! I have tried a number of dark roast beans and all have come out great. Occasionally I get frothed milk from my espresso machine in my cup and let the coffee brew into it and I get a great latte. I have only used the large brew basket once to brew about 2/3 of the thermal carafes capacity. Again the menu asked for 2 scoops of coffee per cup brewed. I was afraid that the filter basket might overflow as it was filled to near the top with coffee. There was no overflow. The coffee was great. The thermal carafe kept the coffee warm through the three servings I had. I will say that the carafe did not keep the coffee as hot as one of the thermos type carafes but it was acceptable for my timeframe. The options given in the on brewer menu give me an ideal brew every time. for those who want more control, the included app has many recipes that list more variables than I ever imagined. There are recipes available for coffees sold by Fellow. There is an option to make cold brew. There is the ability to create recipes and save them. There are so many options to explore on this brewer but for now, I am thrilled with the brew I get with the on brewer menu. Way better than my pourover brew!

The Coffee Maker for Coffee Enthusiasts

This is hands down the best coffee maker I’ve ever owned. If you are looking for the best cup of drip coffee you can get, the Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Maker is the way to go. If you don’t care about flavor in your coffee, then this likely isn’t for you. I’ve been searching for a coffee maker that not only makes a robust flavorful cup, but also looks good in the kitchen. This is that coffee maker. It’s pricey, but it’s absolutely worth it. Making coffee has always been a guesstimation of how much grounds, what size grind, what temperature, etc. What I love about the Aiden is it has a Guided Brew mode that walks you through each step of the process ensuring the best cup of coffee each time. The app and the interface on the coffee maker are really well designed. It’s easy to understand, navigate, and use to the fullest. Setting up a schedule is a breeze using either method. The biggest con is the price, but if you are like me and care about having the best cup of coffee available, this is the machine to get. It does have some cheaper plastic parts that I worry about longevity, however I feel pretty confident that they will last. Some people might be upset that there isn’t a hot plate, but I understand Fellow’s reasoning. It can make your coffee last longer for sure, but it also keeps cooking the coffee and pretty quickly the flavor is ruined. I haven’t had an issue with the thermal carafe getting too cold too fast. I’m happy with that decision. Pros: Best cup of coffee I’ve ever had from a drip coffee maker Beautifully designed machine Compact size Walks you through each step Great app Single cup or carafe options Cons: Expensive Some cheaper plastic parts No hot plate (not a deal breaker for me)

The Fellow - Aiden Precision Coffee Maker is an easy to use and beautifully designed coffee maker. From brewing single cups to a full pot this coffee maker makes quick and easy work of brewing. The guided presets make it easy to brew the perfect cup every time with the option of creating custom presets allowing you to make your coffee the way you want. You can even download presets that other people have created to have the perfect cup every time. I appreciate the simple minimalist design of the Aiden coffee maker, the simplicity and ease of use make this a great coffee maker for beginners and experts alike. The refillable water container and no-drip design allow you to make a cup without worrying about filling every time while also having no mess. The Aiden coffee maker has an optional companion app that allows you to update your coffee maker with new profiles and brew settings, set timers for brewing, and brew from anywhere allowing you to come home to a fresh pot of coffee. I really appreciate that Fellow has not made this a mandatory app for using the coffee maker by stripping out functionality and adding it to the app, they instead make it optional and add some nice features and functionality to the app that you wouldn't have otherwise.

    Deceptively Customizable Coffee Brew Options

I have had this coffee machine and I have to start of with I am a not a coffee novice but I am far from a coffee expert. I am in that middle range where I appreciate paying more for a good cup of coffee and can appreciate a quality machine for that extra step if you truly appreciate releasing the subtle flavors in your coffee by a good brew machine. PROS *MODERN DESIGN, SPACE SAVING DESIGN *APP MAKES IT EASY TO CUSTOMIZE BREWS BY ADJUSTING WATER PULSE, WATER TEMP, INTERVALS BETWEEN PULSES, WATER RATIO *SCHEDULING BREWS, MAKING PERSON SPECIFIC PROFILE/BREW GUIDE *COLD BREWING MADE EASY- 1HR-2.5HR PROCESS ENSURES A STRONG FLAVORFUL BREW CONS *PLASTIC MATERIAL AND LIGHTWEIGHT GIVE IT A CHEAP FEEL *VERY CUSTOMIZABLE BREWS BUT WITHOUT A GUIDEBOOK IT GETS OVERWHELMING, NEEDS A GUIDEBOOK TO FULLY IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE BREWING OPTIONS *THE THERMAL CARAFE WOULD PERFORM MUCH BETTER WITH INSULATION STYLE DESIGN *NEEDS A LARGER WATER RESERVOIR- GOES QUICKLY OVERALL IT A VERY GOOD MACHINE THAT WOULD OTHERWISE BE GREAT IF IT WERE MADE OF MATERIAL OTHER THAN PLASTIC AND A QUALITY INSULATED CARAFE- PLUS THROW IN A STEP BY STEP GUIDE ON THE OPTIONS AND WHAT THEY DOA ND HOW THEY IMPACT YOUR BREW WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. A POSITIVE DETAIL ABOUT THIS MACHINE THAT NEEDS IT'S OWN COMMENT, IS THE COLD BREW. I BREWED COLD BREW FOR ABOUT 2HRS AND THE TASTE WAS CLEAN, AROMATIC AND STRONG, NOT BITTER AT ALL. IT IS NOT A QUICK COLD BREW PROCESS, BECAUSE IT COLD BREWS THRU A HEATED WATER SLOWLY AND AT INTERVALS AS NOT TO GET A BITTER TASTE BY PUMPING CONTINUOUS HOT WATER THRU THE GROUNDS. THE SLOWER PROCESS RESULTS IN A GREAT FLAVOR WHICH MORE THAN MAKE UP FOR SLOW SPEED- ADD ICE AND YOU ARE GOOD TO GO.

The Fellow Aiden Precision Coffee Maker has it in the name. It requires measurement, timing and patience. Imagine a coffee maker that makes a pour over quality cup of your favorite coffee? That is exactly what you are getting here. It might not sound that exciting to most people, but if you go from drinking a cup of your favorite drip coffee to drinking pour over, it is like drinking coffee for the first time. Like drinking coffee the way it was made to be experienced. The vast majority of the coffee I drink at home is from a French press. Long ago, I ditched the drip machine and went back to grinding my own beans and putting them in the press. It’s a more rich and if you measure correctly, a more balanced cup of coffee. It simply unlocks the flavors better than a drip machine. Sometimes simplicity is superior. Then one time many years ago I visited a local coffee roaster north of Seattle. They asked me if I wanted a pour over because apparently that is what was preferred in that shop. I agreed, then they told me to get half a cup of my coffee beans of choice, which I did and I returned to have them freshly ground. They set my cup under the filter stand and slowly and methodically poured the warm water over the mount of freshly ground beans. It was interesting to watch and was the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. Period. Could be hyped up as part of the memory, but it was an experience that sticks in my mind to this day. So before getting the Aiden, I did some research. I watched YouTube videos, read reviews and read expert reviews by experts in the industry. People had overwhelming praise for the machine and so I decided to give it a try. Lets start with the looks of the machine. I have the black model and it has a very modern feel to it. Simple lines, sharp angles and a seemingly limited interface. But the interface is actually not simple, it’s just all completed using the one turn knob. You follow the prompts on the bright screen and it is extremely intuitive. You have the option of making a single cup of coffee or an entire pot (10 cups). Personally, I like to make a single cup or sometimes a small pot, as I am the only coffee drinker in my house. Depending on what you want to make, you just insert the correct filter holder in the top of the machine and use the corresponding filter with it. There are presets for the roast of the beans you want to use and the machine tells me exactly how many grams of coffee to put in the filter. Hence the word “precision” in the name. The Aiden is a beautiful machine, but as beautiful as it is, the level of tech built into it is just amazing. They have literally replicated the process of doing a pour over and it’s done for you. Set it and forget it until it time to enjoy it. Now I said before that part of the pour over experience is watching the magic happen. Well that is something that is all done internally using the machine. But it produces a pour over so superior that you cannot tell the difference. It is not for the person that grabs a coffee that tastes like a liquid candy bar. It is for the true coffee aficionado that has respect for the art of coffee making. The person that buys beans from their favorite roaster and grinds them right before they brew them. Some may say pour over uses too much coffee. Sure, I get that. Yes, it uses more and it takes more time to make the coffee. But that is all part is the experience. Making that fantastic cup of coffee and sharing it with someone. Watching their eyes light up like yours did the first time you tried it. It’s all part of the experience. I would highly recommend this coffee maker for someone that enjoys craft coffee and the work it takes to make it. Someone that wants the result with a little less effort in respect to doing the actual physical pour themselves. I love the Fellow Aiden and it earned a permanent place on my kitchen counter top.

As someone who previously never brewed their own coffee, the Aiden Precision Coffee Maker makes it incredibly easy to brew great coffee every time. The built-in guided mode made it easy for me to begin to understand how to brew coffee by giving me step-by-step instructions on how to make exactly what I wanted. The Fellow app was also a great tool to help me begin customizing my coffee, giving full control over every brew with customizable profiles. Being someone who has never been a morning person, the ability to create custom schedules within the app is a necessity for me. This ensures the coffee will be ready every morning, even when I’m running late. One of my other favorite features is the cold brew setting. I have never enjoyed hot coffee as much as iced coffee, so being able to have cold brew coffee ready to drink right away is much more enjoyable. The last feature that stood out to me is being able to brew any amount of coffee without sacrificing taste. Being the only coffee drinker in my house, there is no real point in brewing an entire pot every morning. Overall, the Aiden Precision Coffee Maker is the perfect balance of being user-friendly for new coffee drinkers and allowing in-depth customization for experienced coffee drinkers.
