Air filters can make a world of difference in allergy season, and I've tried a ton of 'em from the simple ones to the craziest ones.
Filtrete makes some very high-quality filters, and my experience with this particular air filter is pretty good so far.
A few metrics that stand out when shopping for air filters are size/footprint, ease of use, noise, cost over time, and throughput + filtration.
Size: this one is the size of a paper shredder. Not too large, tucks away comfortably in a room without a lot of fuss.
Ease of Use: the app interface is a little annoying; the ONE thing you want the app to do is alert you when you need to change your filters and/or alert you to issues that you don't know about. Other than that, the app/wifi interface is a nicety and not a necessity. Setup would take 2 minutes without the app stuff. With the app stuff, setup takes 10 minutes and multiple tries plus an account setup, etc. The device itself is probably one of my most favorite interfaces I've seen yet: it shows you the air quality index right on the device, along with easy color coding so you don't have to be right next to it. Maybe not a necessity for everyone, but nice to know what lowers your indoor air quality and how far away those activities reach, and how quickly things go back to normal.
Compare/contrast to things like the Molekule or larger BlueAir filters with minimal interfaces and indicators, fine but not all that helpful. This Filtrete Air Purifier is like having a portable indoor air quality meter that also cleans the air so you can get kind of scientific about your methodology.
Noise: very, very quiet most of the time, ramps up as needed.
Cost Over Time: you want to watch for filters that have shared shapes and/or are usable in multiple devices (because it lowers the cost for replacement vs single-device and/or specialty filters). Filtrete filters tend to be multi-purpose and that seems to be the case here, so expect your costs for filter replacement to be about average.
Throughput + Filtration: I was impressed by the difference this made in a somewhat dusty room in a short amount of time. The airflow throughput was impressive at the highest settings and even when operating on low/quiet mode - the throughput was good.
All in all, very good with or without the app.

I have this air purifier in my bedroom and am so happy with it. The size is quite small, so it can be placed in a discreet location and just do its thing! I will say, it is not the quietest air purifier I've ever had, but it's not the loudest either, kind of middle of the road. For me, this is perfect because I like white noise in the background when I sleep (in fact, i can't sleep without it), so this works well in that secondary function for me as well.
If found setup and app use to be very simple and user friendly. I love the smart features this purifier offers, setting it on Auto, so that it increases air flow when needed. I've found it to be highly effective in relieving allergy symptoms. I also can't tell you how much I appreciate the inexpensive cost of replacement filters. So often it seems like buying a couple of replacement filters ends up equaling the cost of the actual system. This has been a great addition to my home in terms of functionality, design, and looks.

The Filtrete Smart Air Purifier is an excellent choice for anyone looking to get an air purifier for their small to medium room. I live in Las Vegas and between the desert air and the city traffic, the air quality is definitely not great. The Filtrete smart air purifier absolutely helps to make the air quality much better for my room. The screen on the purifier shows you the current air quality and this is great to see what your quality is at any given moment and I can definitely tell when it is getting worse in my apartment and this filter does a great job of quickly cleaning it.
The smart features that are available with the Filtrete smart air purifier make automating the purifier very simple. It can also be integrated with your smart home devices which makes it even simpler. Using the app you are able to view your current air quality and if you want you can change the current mode of the purifier to help quickly clean up the air quality while you are away, you are also able to schedule times to turn it on or off if no one is in the house during that time.
While you can set the mode that the purifier runs on, it is in most cases best to just keep it on auto. The auto mode does a great job of keeping the air clean at all times for me in my room and I haven't had a need to change the fan speed at all.
The fans on the unit are very quiet even when it kicks up to higher speeds to clean up the air. There is a button on the device that also turns off the display to keep the light pollution down at night. Overall, this air purifier is great for any small to medium room that fits in well with the decor and doesn't make a ton of noise or have lights making it difficult to sleep.

Air Purifier that Does the Job Unobtrusively

The Filtrete room air purifier is a pretty straightforward stand alone air purifier. In white, it looks like a stylish office waste basket. In that regard, it blends into some rooms as is this a floor unit, not a table mount. The black finish for the top (grill and touch/info screen) helps convey this is more than a pedestrian device and obviously the game is given away when the fans are actually on.
Getting up an running was a breeze. This particular unit can be paired to your Wi-Fi router to be connected via an app. Pretty much, the app just replicates everything that you'd see on the basic touchscreen on the top of the unit in an app. There's a slight advantage of not having to touch the unit to control things. This is kind of good news because it means the unit will continue function independent of whether the app is maintained.
Controls touch buttons are power ON/OFF, fan speed (1..4), timer, and light brightness. You also get a numerical air quality indicator and filter life percentage. The light on the unit also doubles as an air quality indicator - green being good to red/purple being poor/really bad. On first use, I started at orange and after running for about 20 minutes, it got to the green. I honestly could not smell or otherwise discern a difference in the room from that alone.
My only other real test, besides checking out the noise level (pretty quiet at 1) and noisy at 4 (you'd probably do that deliberately to clear out a smoky room), my real test was to cook something that generates some smell and minor smoke and see how it behaved. Aside from the timer, you can have this operates on auto so it only runs the fan when its sensors detect that it is needed. With my cooking test, the auto mode has about a 10 minute delay between when it was pretty obvious to me that the room was filling up with the smells of cooking and when the sensor/air quality level tripped for it to turn on. From there, it actually did a good job of removing smell from the air and clearing things up - though the kitchen area still obviously smelled of the food that was cooked. This unit is rated for 150 sqft so I think I was pushing it a bit to handle the kitchen -> living room space which is a bit over 200 sqft with an open are to another room in the middle. So I'm confident it will handle rooms closer to the target rating or smaller, though for me I don't really have any other rooms that seem like they'd benefit from an air purifier.
In any case, the performance was actually better than the built-in stove fan. I wouldn't rely on the auto feature for this, but using the timed mode would work and this wouldn't seem that out of place next to my actual kitchen trashcan which is itself "smart". Replacing the filters looks straightforward and I found online some non-filtrete filters that appear to be compatible, so it doesn't appear one it locked into Filtrete if you don't want to. The air quality number on this unit seems pretty basic, maybe particulate size based only. By comparison to my body weight scale which does CO2 monitoring through the day (which fluctuates on a semi regular basis), the Filtrete didn't really seem correlated to anything other than in my cooking test so I'm unsure how useful the air quality number really is. It's possible that the filter percentage is smart, but it seems this is just runtime based. I think time will tell when I compare in a 6mo to a year the difference between what the filter looks like vs percentage life remaining.
In summary, I think this is a decent unit. Not too fancy, seems to do a good job. Not space age or super modern but won't be out of place in most homes.

This purifier is easy to use, has a simple design, and runs very quiet. The indicator light will glow green when the air is clean and will very quickly change to other colors once it detects issues. I've been impressed how sensitive it is and how quickly it returns the air to the clean green.

Good Air Purifier

So I needed a few extra days to write this review as I wanted to be fair. When I first got the air purifier I was not exactly sure how well it worked. It was only after I was cooking something in the other room did I get a notification that my air quality in the other room was getting worse. This is especially useful for detecting harmful air pollutants and possibly carbon monoxide I would assume and you being that the unit is Wifi connected you get a notification right on your smartphone which to me is one of the best features of this AP.
Setting up is very easy it took about 5 minutes to unpack turn on and get it connected to my home wifi. After that you get a nice dashboard on the app for your phone that shows controls and current air quality. You can turn on and off the AP and set different fan speeds, although I leave the unit on AUTO and when it detects worsening air quality it will kick up the fans to help eliminate the problem.
On the top of the unit it shows the wifi status along with the fan speed and a number indicator that depending on the number value will give you a real time status of the air quality in the room.
Overall this is my first Air Purifier and im very impressed with the connectivity and so far the performance

Great Purifier For Bedrooms /Small Office

I use several purifiers in my house because we live in an area that is very dusty. We had an older much bigger purifier in my sons room but it never worked great so we were looking for something new.
at first I was worried because the purifier is so small, but my worries disappeared very quickly once we had the purifier going. The air in the room started smelling so much better, which with two young boys you know the room can be kind of stinky.
The controls are very easy and intuitive, I love this purifier and will probably get the bigger version of it for our bedroom.
Highly recommend.

Ideal for an office space, pretty enough to be out in the open and not an eyesore.
We have a larger unit in our main living area that works perfectly, but required an additional unit for my wife's office space that is not attached to the home. That space is almost exactly 150 sq. ft. and the Filtrete Smart Air Purifier handles it like a champ. Within no time (ok, a little over an hour) there was a noticeable difference in the air quality in the office. The air was cleaner feeling to your nose and also walking into and out of the space you could really feel the difference in the ambient air versus the office air. Hard to explain, but there was a difference.
Obviously there is more to it than that, but knowing you can actually feel the difference lets you know the unit is working on a micro-level as far as filtering goes.
My wife has never had allergies until this past fall, and now going from spring into summer she has noticed again that whatever is blowing through our area is bothering her. Two weeks straight she has had coughing and sneezing fits while working out in the office and since putting the Filtrete in the room she hasn't had a single episode! That right there is worth the price, knowing that it is absolutely helping to alleviate such a day-to-day problem, even if it's only a seasonal one.
Actual performance aside, it looks great. Simple, clean, not necessarily "elegant" but modern and able to sit out and about, unlike some other offerings that look like industrial units that scream "I'm a device, I'm a device" and really detract from a space's beauty. Not something many people really worry about, I'm sure, but it's nice to know that this is definitely one of the easier on the eye examples out there.
Easy recommendation, you won't be disappointed if you are looking for an air purifier and end up choosing the Smart Air Purifier from Filtrete.

The Filtrete - 150 Sq. Ft. Smart Air Purifier for Medium Rooms is basically what it's name does. Works excellent in our game room, which is where we keep our dogs also.
Easy to setup out of the box. Does not require an app download to work manually. Air quality can be seen at a glance and filter serviceability can be seen with the varying light colors. The timer function is nice feature, when I want to run it on high level 4 for a set time. App download and pairing does give more flexibility and convenience with how, where, and when you want to run it. Everything is smart and has an app nowadays, so the Filtrete - 150 Sq. Ft. Smart Air Purifier for Medium Rooms might as well have their own.
Noise is a low hum on setting one and gets progressively louder as expected. Unit size wise and design is just perfect. Room blending white sides and gloss black top. Nice touch to add adjustable light brightness. It performs admirably with 3 big American Bullies in the room. Air flow is vertical, I wonder if it would flow more, if the air flow was horizontal, though. I guess I will test it out later.
But overall it is nice looking, unobtrusive are purifier. Blends in well with most decor and could be easily hidden due to it's relatively diminutive size. Sometimes I just crank it up from the app, if my dogs are being loud, that usually quiets them down, lol.

This is a nice air purifier. Its perfect for your bedroom or a smaller sized living room/family room. Air purifiers are perfect for anyone with allergies because it helps you breathe better at night or in your home when your allergies are acting up. I like how it displays the air quality. I like how there is an app to control the device and you can connect it to your alexa or google assistant. I would def recommend this.

The unit is build solid, the connectivity works great, you can modulate the air flow levels via app. At the same time I wish the app would allow to schedule activity, for example run each day from 10 to 6, then stop.
