I purchased this game on August 10th so I wanted some time to play it before reviewing. Long story short: It is a decent game, not bad at all. There were some elements that I wasn’t a fan of, but as a person who has been a fan of the OG version since the beginning I was not let down. I love turn based and action games even though I grew up with turn based. The fighting style of this game is not hard to figure out at all. You do have to switch between characters as you fight enemies because of long range or other needs. After some time you will get used to it. There are side quests that can leave something to be desired, but they are not mandatory. Graphics are amazing! This is only the beginning, but I highly recommend it!

Gorgeous and fun game that really shows some of the amazing graphical capabilities of the PS5. It's a shame that it ends right when the original game started to really get good. I hope in the meantime while we wait for part 2, they come out with more side stories like they've done with Yuffie's.

Wow. It had been over 20 years since i last played the original FF7. Holy cow what an evolution. The graphics are amazing, the controls don't take long to master, and the classic storyline remains. I am looking forward to the upcoming Parts 2 and 3.

Just when I thought this game couldn't get any better but here we are on PS5 with even better graphics, textures and frame rate. the game is a masterpiece! innovative gameplay, magical music, and great story and characters to engage with. a worthy remake of a classic.

I pre-ordered the game when it first came out on PS4 and was absolutely blown away! Despite getting the PS5 upgrade for free, I'm a sucker for physical media so absolutely had to buy the PS5 version. I wasn't sure how they would be able to take a game as beautiful as it looked and make it better, but they exceeded all expectations with this PS5 version! If you are one of the lucky ones who's been able to snag a console, this is an absolute MUST-BUY!!! And yes, the entirety of the game takes place in Midgar. It's not the ENTIRE FF7 story. Square Enix made that perfectly clear before the PS4 version was released in 2020, so if you're disappointed that this game ends after Midgar, that's on you. But seriously, get this game. It's great! The battle system, not so much, but you get used to it ;)

Graphics were great. Gameplay was fast paced and fun. Never played the original before but I enjoyed the story in this remake.

Great reimagining of the original game. Don't go in thinking you're playing an exact replica of the original. Most of the same beats are there, but a lot of other stuff is mixed in. The PS5 better looks better than the PS4, but kind of what you would expect with better hardware. They tweaked some things between the PS4 version and this one and makes it a better game. The DLC with Yuffie is also really fun, but wise was a bit longer, or better yet a full game.

The graphics are amazing on the PS5 and the story of the DLC was amazing. If you like Final Fantasy you will love this remastered one. It makes you feel like you are actually in the game.

This game is a masterpiece and this remake is a thing of beauty. As a guy who played Final Fantasy 1 on the original NES and every game after, this is really a work of art and I am loving every moment. Very happy to have this in my possession. Wish it was less than $70. Price could be better but still, had to have it.

The PS5 version has a performance mode that runs in 60FPS without sacrificing the graphical effects and improvements to textures, lighting and particles. A joy to play. The PS5 version also features the additional story chapters that introduce Yuffie - another classic character. Be wary not to buy a used copy of the game as you won't get the additional DLC content that is linked to a one-time use code. This is a must play for fans of the genre and Final Fantasy, young and old, new or returning. Treat yourself!

I have been playing Final Fantasy games for over 30 years and I am really excited to get this one and keep playing with different modes.

Decent story, but they have great gameplay mechanics, stunning graphic and good soundtracks. For me, this franchise is always in my heart. I remember I spent at least 50 hours playing the original Final Fantasy VII when I was a kid. Even though I got FF7 Remake from PS Plus, I still wanted to get a copy to replay it on my PS5. If you are an FF fan, definitely you should buy it. If you are newcomers, you will not regret spending your time and money on this game.

I haven't played through a FF game in quite a while but I am really enjoying this game. The remaster is great, with some great controls, graphics, and gameplay. It's definitely a game that I would recommend to anyone that's a fan of the series.

As a Final Fantasy VII fanboy from way back in 1997, I couldn't wait for this to be released. Revisiting Midgar was breathtaking. Despite not being a turn-based combat system, the combat in FF7R is intense and quite enjoyable. The visuals are top notch. The music is an organic evolution of the original soundtrack, which was one of the best in all of gaming. The only negative is that we have to wait for more.

Great game, great upgrade too! Of course if you own 7R on PS4 Id recommend just getting the Yuffie episode digitally for way cheaper. For newcomers I can't think of a better place to start off with this masterpiece.

This game is a must have for any final fantasy fan. The game is a great addition to the ps5. The graphics from the ps4 version to this look amazing. I greatly enjoy the addition to to the extra content this game offers. Purchased game on sale. Since this isn’t a deluxe or special edition I wouldn’t pay full price for this version.

Such a fantastic RPG that should be played by anyone who likes the genre. Gameplay, Music, and art are all great. Voice Acting is good as well. Some shortcomings but overall fun. I have yet to play the DLC though.
