great remake
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really have to say how impressive this game was. From start to finish the experience was flawless, from its amazing battle system transforming the classic ATB into the ideal standard for modernization of what Final Fantasy should potentially be. The voice acting was perfectly executed, graphically superb with the rendered scenes alongside game content these transitions from scenes to gameplay were absolutely seamless. There is hardly anything that this title failed to deliver, but the learning curve may take time to truly master however as you reach the final acts you will definitely be feeling the need to jump on into the hard mode or even just doing a second playthrough in general. Amazingly addictive combat with each character feeling uniquely different and overall diversity with each character bringing something to the table. Lastly the boss encounters were the most amazing pieces of content offering a true spectacle of epic performance. The pacing is also near perfect, with some sidequests feeling a bit tacked on but when all said and done most of it all works out for the better, that being either character development or aiming to obtain optional boss encounters includes classic summons. I give Final Fantasy VII Remake- 4.8 out 5

Good game, but fell short a few places
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are a real hardcore fan of the series there were probably more than a few offputting things to you. Now, I did like the updates to the graphics, I eventually got used to the combat system and enjoyed it, and I really did like how they reimagined places like Wallmarket, Some dislikes: hours upon hours of MMO'esque side questing that added nothing to the story. Some of the filler was good/added to background stories, some was just like that bad anime filler arc you never asked for. The ending really threw me for a loop, and I sincerely hope that the creators will stick to their commitment to stay true to the original game in some fashion. Overall I give it an 8 out of 10.

One of the greatest games
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This final fantasy game brings me back. Back to the nostalgia days of sitting on the floor with my small tv and first playstation, playing for hours. This was the only game at the time that kept me from going outside and playing with my friends. The new remake is amazing, along with how beautifully detailed the environment and characters are. Pick up this game, play for hours and just have fun.

Excellent
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Square Enix has done a fantastic job bringing this long awaited project to life. They’ve done a wonderful job capturing the feel of the original down to the serious and whimsical parts. The game looks stellar and runs perfectly even on a base model ps4. Sure there’sa few side quests that feel meaningless but they are optional. I highly recommend this game and can’t wait for the next installments. 10 out of 10.

Awesome game with some flaws
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.FF7R is a game with beautiful graphics, a decent sound track, but most importantly some of the most intense and well done boss battles of the entire franchise. The combat is fun, but the enemies can have too aggressive aggro on the character you're controlling which promotes swapping characters and using them as meat shields instead of actually having viable options to deal with some scenarios. The sidequests are also some of the worst things I've ever played in a videogame. They are bloated and most are unnecessary. If you liked 7 this game does a good job of bringing it new life and seeing its scale and scope will "wow" you at times due to their vibrant detail. The game will feel padded out but it is an experience that you wont want to pass up even with all its flaws,

More of a reimagining than a remake!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Graphics are amazing. Combat is a nice balance between old school turn based and modern action. Greatly expands on the first few hours of the original. The nostalgia is definitely there if you played the original, but the modern updates will please modern gamers as well. Biggest negative is that this game is very linear, but then again that was the biggest negative about the original as well. Must play!

Great remake of FFVII (part 1 anyway)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Final Fantasy VII Remake is a true showcase for the PS4. The graphics are excellent. The combat has been updated from the original game from a turn based affair to an action oriented design. Voice work and the musical score are on point as well. While some side quests are more filler than fun, the overall package is very well done. I highly recommend this game for fans of the original as well as newcomers.

Ff7 with next-gen graphics what more can I say
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't think there is a need to write a long review. this is a freaking full remake of the original final fantasy 7 which is the game that made me into an RPG and final fantasy fan. The graphic and textures are beautiful, the music is just as beautiful, and the story is even more beautiful. The only problem I have is that I have to wait forever for part two. I highly suggest this.

Does justice to the original
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The original FF7 was a childhood staple of mine and this remake does it justice. The storyline is slightly tweaked at times but a lot of that is to add additional content. They do still carry over many of the scenes from the original game verbatim. The combat system is new and modern but still captures the essence of the old time based attack style. The voice acting and graphics are spot on.

Amazing Remake!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, the game looks amazing! Yes, the combat is different than the original but I don’t feel it detracts from the game. You can pick the mechanics up quickly. There are additions that weren’t in the first game but overall I think they did a great job on the remake. I loved the original and I have loved seeing them recreate Midgar. I recommend this game.

nostalgia
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.a revived classic, in my opinion it was too short but that could be because i wish to keep playing. i played about 35hrs to completion but this is just one part of what is rumored to be 3 which would be inline with the original PS1 FFVII 3 disk format, the graphics are amazing and the fact that they don't veer from the original is awesome.

An excellent Remake of a Classic Game
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This remake is able to capture the atmosphere and character of the original game. Characters and environments look good and the music is incredible. Gameplay is top tier and does a good job incorporating modern and classic gameplay styles. The story remains intact for the most part and I would still consider it a strong point of the game

Part 1?! Since when?! Oh well, it was done well.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A part of me doesn't want to give this a five star review because a lot of us were completely side-lined by this not being the full story. Like many others, I had this pre-ordered without any notification that was the case. Even the title doesn't say part 1 or whatnot. However, that aside, I have to give it five stars for how well they put this first part together. It was fun to play, visuals are fantastic, they definitely went more indepth to the story, and voice acting was done well if not for the stereotyping of Barret. Since they were remaking it, they could have improved on that. It was my biggest gripe with the product. I felt like they incorporated Robert Downey Jr.'s character from Tropic Thunder. I cringed so much when Barret came up. I just had to keep reminding myself this was normal for the story and the era of time it was first created. Over all, they did an excellent job so I can't rage too much about not knowing it wasn't the full story. Just hope they ease up on the Barret sterotype the next round.

A Visually Stunning Linear Action RPG
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having never played the original, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a visually stunning, and excellent game. The game is a perfect blend of traditional turn based RPGs with action RPG elements. This combined battle system keeps you on your toes, with plenty of action, but with the strategy of a traditional turn based RPG. Again the visuals of the game are excellent, the city of Midgar is beautifully crafted with details in almost every corner of the city, with excellent voice acting in English. The game is pretty linear, since it's not really open world, but there are points in the game where you can explore, and complete side quests. They are completely optional though, as I've found there was nearly no need to grind, but you'll want to do them to gain items, and to simply spend more time in the areas to explore. Overall, I think this is a visually stunning action RPG, with an engaging combat system, with a linear story.

A New Classic of an Old Classic
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great game. While I'll miss the turn base battle system of the original, the battle mechanics here are wild and much more technical than I imagined. This game captures much of the essence of the original and seeing the updated graphics is breathtaking. The music is mostly updated songs from the original, but really well done, plus there's some new ones. I played the original along side this version and I was impress of how much was retained. I'd hit sections of the remake and think, this can't be in the old one, but lo and behold it was there. There's a lot of new content, and that may be a bit of some of it's negative aspect. Many reviewers have pointed this out, but it does feel a bit padded. Some of it is padded with side quests but not all of it. It's still great to get that extension. I'm curious to see how this game develops as they turn it into an epic episodic adventure, but I hope it's not like 10 games in the series.

Defies all expectations!!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Going to keep this short and sweet. Understandably, yes, this is the Final Fantasy 7 from 1997 we all know and love. However what has been the "REMAKE" part of the game, aside from visuals, gameplay, the greatest soundtrack of all time (even more incredible remade), THE STORY. MY OH MY, the story has been kept somewhat intact, however they are rewriting history. Until you finish the game you will not realize how they have scooped out the heart of FF7 and turned it into an entirely new and unforgettable epic tale. If you think you know FF7, YOU DON'T. What is arguably one of the greatest stories ever told, is being re-imagined, retold, and relived 23 years later. Also if the episode format is any indication, much like FF13, the next part will be a totally new game and we will probably see it in 1.5 to 2 years from now; with each installment of most likely 3 games being all totally different from each other. This is what modern gamings take on FF7 would have been. We asked for it, and we got what we asked for.

Brilliant game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of my all time favorite games! Story is incredible. Visual masterpiece. Combat is perfect with so many different move sets, and each character plays so differently from one another. Each boss fight was a spectacle especially the final one.

Worth the wait!
