Back on the PS1 this was one of my favorite games of all time, the fact Square Enix actually remade a masterpiece timeless classic game for modern consoles and gamers without sacrificing what made the original so beloved is a true accomplishment. I was very concerned if they could actually do it. After the horrible hollow empty lifeless game that is Final Fantasy 15 I didn't think they could do modern FF game justice not to mention the short comings KH3 left me feeling. But they delivered the graphics the gameplay the characters it's all here from what you remembered even going as far to flesh out characters big and small and expand on the story as well as even adding new characters to the mix (a certain badass on a bike became a new favorite of mine) but all is not well as Square Enix has once again let greed get ahold of them, by making DLC! DLC you can't play if you don't have a PS5, yup that's right if you payed your hard earned $60 (or more depending if you got the deluxe or collector's) well your tough out of luck! There excuse is the DLC was made with PS5 tec but I call BS on that because it looks pretty much like 7 and you know they reused old assets they already had to make it. Also if your a collector and want the physical on ps5 to get the dlc on disc (as its included in the package) well sorry to tell ya this but the dlc is not on the disc it's a voucher code! It seems like Square Enix takes one step forward 2 steps back. Honestly it's left a sour taste in my mouth and I think I will wait tell all parts of the game (no telling how many there will be) and wait for them all to be bundled together in some super collector's or a All in 1 pack like with KH collection.

Been waiting for this game to come out for years. Great game so far, very nostalgic with the characters and even the music. Gameplay takes some getting used to but very fun. Gave 4 stars for the simple reason that this is only about a 1/4 of the game with installments to come out years to come. It’s nice that they’ve expanded more on the character development but I certainly don’t want to wait another 3 years just for the next “chapter”. Total ripoff in that sense

This is a absolutely beautiful game in both graphics, combat, and of course the music. I have completely about the first fifteen hours and all I can say is get this game if you enjoyed the original version or just want a fabulous game.

LOVE this game! Great followup to the original which I also love. My only disappointment is that now I have to wait for the next installments to be released - whenever that will be - to play through the rest of the story. Gameplay has been easy enough so far as the explanation of controls and so on, but also challenging enough with the game itself to keep the player from becoming bored. I had thought I would be disappointed with the VO actors not being the same ones from the movie Advent Children, but I'm finding it's a non-issue, the game is entertaining and challenging, and the story is just as fun as it ever was. I'm definitely looking forward to the future installments. I just hope they'll still be on the PS4, I don't want to have to buy another console just to finish the story.

I never played the original, but fell in love with the story, graphics, and combat mechanics. Can't wait for the next part to drop. There is a full game in this even if it has two parts, more than enough to keep you busy.

While this game is only 1/3 or 1/4th of the main title, this remake did not disappoint. It's graphics, beautiful. It's battle system, ridiculously engaging, seamless, fun and challenging (if you want the challenge) if not easy mode gets the job done if you don't want to be annoying by long drawn out fights. The voice actors were 100% spot on and bring our favorite characters to life, far exceeding my expectations of story and cohesiveness. This game has high replay-ability, challenge (as it contains a hard mode if glutton for punishment) and enjoyment in enjoying the story over again if you wish. The cut scenes and changes they have made to this game are incredible and innovative to keep the possibilities infinite and open the way they decided to end this part one of the remake.

This music, the cutscenes, and the voice acting is really good. Ya they did a good job with this game but I feel like it's a cash grab because it's not the whole story... I played this game on the original PlayStation back in the day and beat it and let me tell you it's a complete cash grab there are fillers that are not needed and cutscenes that are to long. The battle system is just like final fantasy 15 and they tried to mix it with the original classic battle system but in all honesty it does not work. It's really just final fantasy 15/ final fantasy 12 in disguise. They should of just kept the same battle system with better music and graphics like why would you change a classic game come on! And now there saying it's going to be episodes and defending it's a full game because they extended the story set in the first part of dick 1 of the original classic on ps1 ,unneeded side quests... Let me run around for 15 min to find a cat really? Also the boss fights are played out longer. That's video games today realse 60 percent of a game and then sell dlc but now it's even worse with these so called episodes. Do yourself a favor and play the original game and wait until they release the full game which God knows when

This is what a remake should be! If you loved the original game, this game is for you. Great new battles system, amazing graphics, and just plain old fun. Highly recommend.

Excellent graphics and voice acting, fast paced and engaging combat system. Strong plot, though is notably linear through the first few hours. Side quests are passable.

I never played the original final fantasy so I can’t compare. I’m actually not even a huge fan of rpgs. This game is the exception. I bought it during the quarantine because I needed something to help kill time and this was a massive help. I’m only eight hours in and this game is great. It’s everything I needed it to be. Semi cool slightly corny story with some interesting undertones. Involved combat with tons of options and opportunities to level up. This game reminds me of the old school games where they are always throwing something new at you. I’m am throughly enjoying it and when the part two comes out it’s going to be a first day purchase for me.

Really enjoying the graphics, story line, and combat system. Love how I'm not forced to play turn based combat. Which makes things quite more interesting when battling a tough boss.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is by far one of, if not my favorite Final Fantasy game. The new depths that the story and the characters are taken to are extremely enthralling. The graphics are gorgeous, and the re-orchestrated tracks are a godsend to my ears. On top of it all, the new gameplay mechanics (and the ones that are returning - hello again, Materia!) are fun and there never seems to be a dull moment in this game. Whether you're a newcomer to the story of Final Fantasy VII, or someone who's been hungry for more since the original game's release over twenty years ago, this is a phenomenal game, and a must-buy for the system.

Honestly, I did "not" realize this was just "part 1" of what must be around 5 parts. I thought this was going to be the full remake as the original game was around 10 times longer than this.. While I am incredibly disappointed that part 2 is looking to be around 1 to 2 years away, this was still an excellent game. The original FFVII shipped all at once and I remember playing that for "months" when it came out. They definitely upgraded everything. I really hope they can get the other parts out faster than what some people are saying. They did a great job on this. I might buy one of the FF games I never played because of it too.

If you’re a fan of the original you’ll love the remake! If you’ve never played the original you’ll love this game. It’s visually beautiful, awesome story, and so nostalgic.

What a fantastic blast of nostalgia. I’m only 8 hours in and am thoroughly loving this game. Amazing graphics and entertaining combat system. Can it wait to finish it.

Super fun with an incredible reimagining of the world and characters. The combat system is engaging and challenging and offers a wide variety of customization. The characters are the real stars. Excellent English VO and superb dialogue that's natural and realistic. It made them so much more human in their reactions and interactions. The soundtrack is also one of the best I've ever heard in a game. The amount of tracks is insane and all of them are great. The story was super emotional, funny and endearing. I loved it more than the original and can't wait to see where it goes. One of my fave games of all time now.

I'm a fan of the original. Saved up my allowance to buy it on PSX upon release (played disc 1 several times w/o a memory card). This remake only covers a fraction of the whole FFVII story, but what the developers accomplished is a masterpiece for fans on the original. A lot of detail went into this remake. The gameplay is excellent, and although I'm still a fan of turn-based RPGs, I do appreciate the new combat system. Boss battles have a been a significant highlight of the remake, that's for sure! If you're a fan of the original definitely pick it up! I'd even say that newer gamers would find it enjoyable.

After finishing final fantasy 16 which was my first final fantasy, I decided to buy the remake I heard about. I saw nothing but good things about this game and I could definitely see why after playing this remake. I found the game to never get dull/boring thanks to the fun combat system. What I also enjoyed about the game was it’s story and amazing soundtrack. There’s not many games that I would replay after finishing but Final Fantasy 7 remake is an exception. I look forward to my 2nd play through of this game with the PS5 upgrade.

The game is absolutely stunning and probably the best game of the year. Only downsides are it was way to short and I miss the true open world of the original.
