There are two pretty serious bugs in the PS4 version right now that affect anyone who bought the game. For me and a lot of other players these are game breaking bugs and makes the game unplayable until they are fixed. I'm putting this review up to let people know about them, and you can decide how important the bugs are to you. Again, these only affect the PS4 version. Once these bugs are fixed I will update my rating to be 5 stars because without these bugs this game is awesome, it has a great battle system, sphere grid leveling system, amazing story, unforgettable characters, so many things to do, 200+ hours. Here's the first major bug: The RNG is broken in the PS4 version of this game. This means that if you die against a boss and have to restart the game the boss will do the same exact attacks for the same damage no matter how many times you die, this makes the fights very predictable and therefore easy since you know what is going to come next guaranteed. This same RNG bug also affects random enemy encounters, for normal enemies if you restart the game you will get the same enemies in the same order, and they will do the same attacks, for the same damage, no matter what. Again this makes them very easy and predictable. The RNG bug reportedly also affects drops, but I didn't play enough to find out. Second major bug: The background music will restart from the beginning of the track after every enemy encounter so you are stuck in a constant loop of the first 10 seconds of the song. Very frustrating for a game with such an amazing soundtrack. Like I said in the beginning, this is an amazing game without the bugs, easily on my top 5 games of all time, I'm positive they will eventually patch the game to fix the bugs, but until then it's unplayable to me and I am leaving this 1 star up to let people know so you don't waste your money. I believe in you Square Enix!

Great Remaster of a Bad Game

Let me start off by saying that they did a great job remastering this game. I never played this game back when it originally released on PS2. I only just recently bought the PS3 Remaster and then upgraded to the PS4 version, since it's the best version available. I'm not a person that is bent on graphics. I can appreciate any era of video game graphics. This remaster looks fantastic compared to the PS2 version. Onto the most important things, the gameplay, voice acting, systems, story, remaster quality and combat. Voice Acting: I find it to be mostly horrible, except for a few characters. Mainly, I can't stand Tidus one bit. Some characters sound fine, but most are just plain bad. 4/10 Gameplay: Some like it, some hate it. I'm somewhere in between. The animations are good, but it's just not very fun for me. It doesn't have that magic that makes it great and I don't like that my summons have to be controlled and they can die in battle. The game is also very linear and after playing FFVII and FFIX, I just didn't think Final Fantasy should be a linear game with so little freedom. 5/10 Systems: I despise the sphere grid. Give me points and let me build my character in the direction that I want to build them in. Don't force me to take certain paths to and then make me use points to backtrack to get to another skill that I want. It's called a skill tree, or simply learning skills via other methods during gameplay. Sphere Grid is LAME and takes the fun out of building a character. 4/10 Story: I couldn't make myself finish the game, but the story was mostly enjoyable from what I did play. 7/10 Remaster Quality: As I've said, the remaster quality is excellent, top notch, best of the best. For that, 10/10 I would recommend it simply because it's a very popular game and the majority of final fantasy fans like it.

Better than PS2, and better than PS3

Final Fantasy X and its sequel are great games that have aged well. They play just as good as they did when they first came out, and maybe even better due to the more stable frame-rate. When the remaster was first brought to PS3, it included updated textures and remodeled characters, as well as a new soundtrack. When it was later remade further for PS4, the textures and character models were given additional work, and both the new and original soundtrack from the PS2 release were included on disc (the PS3 version only had the new, rearranged soundtrack). Of course, it's not all roses. Some NCPs can look a little strange, not being as high-quality as the main characters, but other than a few odd instances here and there the game looks great. Also, the cutscenes and voice overs are starting to show their age, but mostly they hold up well. If you're wondering about which version to buy, this is the one to get. It takes the already amazing PS3 version and makes it even better. There is also a Vita version, which I would only recommend if you wanted to play on the go. Make no mistake, it's better than the original PS2 releases, but not as good as the PS3/4 versions. If you're interested in trying Final Fantasy for the first time (or looking to replay old favorites) this is a good place to start.

Merged with the International editions of the game, Final Fantasy X/X-2 provides a solid and emotionally powerful story about love, adventure, death, and loss. While the theme of death and rebirth is common to many Final Fantasy games, FFX seems to take this theme to the next level and then some. As you play, pay close attention to the environment and see constant reminders of death. By the game’s end, you’ll come to agree FFX is probably the most morbid Final Fantasy game in the series. It’s direct sequel, a first of its kind in the series, FFX-2 is a lighthearted adventure that blends the J-pop and Kawaii culture styles popular in Japan with a Charlie’s Angels feel to the three main characters; Yuna, Rikku, and Paine. Where FFX revolved around death, its sequel flourishes with life and lively expressions of jovial silliness against a world that is picking up the social and political changes following the end of the first game. While the scope is small, the flow of the story is not and there is a lot to do.

    2 Epic Stories, 1 Price

How can I not recommend this epic set? You have FFX which still remains an extremely good title in the series. Not to mention it has some of the coolest music. Zanakard anyone? Then there's X-2, one of the super rare direct sequels to a mainline Final Fantasy title. Please note, these use the Sphere system. It's not the standard, level up and unlock skills. You have to choose what skills to unlock by using spheres dropped by enemies. It can be a grind to get the right spheres for a specific skill. So be prepared. The upscale just looks amazing. Granted, they were originally somewhere near the end of the PS2 so they were already good looking. The PS4 upscale just makes it better. For the low price, you're getting you're money's worth. Both main stories can reach into the 70+ hrs range. That's not including all the side quests, mini games, and secrets you can find. So if you need something to keep you occupied for a long, long time, this is a pretty good option. Especially at this low a price.

this review is based mainly on the HD and new features aspect, not really reviewing the story because it 15 years old so of course it has worse dialog and voice acting than today's standards. All nostalgia for me. FFX HD looks amazing I can see all the details in the statues and buildings in the distance. Things are way more round. Only down side is when the camera gets too close to the characters faces when they are talking it looks a little off. FFX-2 HD looks good too but I honestly can barely tell in this game . I can see finer lines in clothes and it it makes them more 3D. like paine's belt is 3D now and sticking out rather than painted on. New features! FFX : - choice of expert and standard sphere girds - choice of remastered music or original -addive pS4 trophies you want to earn but u realize u have a life and can get them all. FFX-2 : - new dress spheres that the NA version didn't have. The festivalist and psychic -creature creator - battle, lvl, as a fiend. - FFX-2 the last mission mini game at the main menu.

While not much different from the ones put on Playstation 3, this particular version does run in 1080p at 60fps. Not really a big deal though. Some I am sure would argue with that, but that is a different story entirely. If you have not played these games yet, you get something a little extra with this release as all the content from the International versions has been added. If you are unfamiliar with the final mixes and second releases done for some Square Enix titles in Japan, we tend to get extra content in the US releases. So in Japan they take the US release and add a little more content while keeping the English VAs and release a second edition in Japan. Now they can just use DLC instead of releasing another copy, but that was not always the case. I feel like any Final Fantasy game, or really any RPG, kind of requires you to personally try it and make your own decisions about it. While some things I dislike about both titles, I enjoy both games. Not a fan of Tidus screaming and not a fan of how you change job classes in X2, but I have beaten both games multiple times and consider them classics.

Ok first before anyone yells at me, you can not find a fan that loves this series more then me.. as much maybe, but not more. and I say the last great FF game was because it was Turn Based, which most of us fans still prefer, where as you have XV which I loved and would give it a perfect score as well.. it still didn't have the Final Fantasy feel that X did.. and let's just pretend (like most people) that X-2 doesn't exist, I own it because I'm a deranged fan that can't allow myself to miss a FF installment including the online ones.. But this game has great graphics , one of my favorite songs in a game ever, and the story was just great, that's why I hate X-2 it , ruins all that was great about the first one, in order to know the true insult you'll just have to play it and find out for yourself I can't bring myself to bash what I love. it's good that they come together otherwise this would be a different tone.

FFX is an amazing RPG. It's got an incredible story and a pretty deep battle and leveling system (if you choose the expert sphere). It is a fairly linear game unlike a lot of the other older Final Fantasy games but it's not constraining at all, and all areas are interesting and can be explored. You can tell the graphics are from an older game yet they've been updated to be fairly good. The voice acting could be better but is by no means bad. FFX-2 is good but not as amazing as FFX. It has a better battle system but the story is lacking, which is what drove FFX. You'll still enjoy this game if you haven't played it before and like RPGs. If you have played it before or if you haven't played it before, I suggest you get FFX/X-2 HD Remaster just for FFX alone. It is an all time classic and a wonderful game that will keep you glued to the screen for many hours and entertain you in all kinds of ways.

FFX is a classic. One of the best in the Final Fantasy Series, though 9 is still my favorite. The main story can be played through fairly quickly, but it will take you many hours to complete all of the side quests/objectives this game has to offer! The Sphere Grid is a nice change of pace from how most RPGs progress their characters - it means that no characters are pigeonholed into one specific role. You want your main character to be the healer? Work his Sphere Grid over to those abilities. The optional bosses are pretty challenging too. I have defeated 3 of the Dark Aeons so far. I am currently working in the Monster Arena to level up my stats to be able to handle some of the more powerful bosses. One thing I do not like about this game is the mini-games required to upgrade a Celestial Weapon. I still have to dodge 200 lightning bolts for Lulu's, and I have not even played Blitzball at all yet for Wakka's (let alone his overdrives.)

At first I was uncertain as to if I should buy this game on PS4, considering I already owned the PS3 version. To anyone who already owns the PS3 version, and uncertain if they should buy the PS4 version, I highly highly recommend it. The graphics truly are enhanced to a current day quality. The only issue not addressed in the remaster is the lip sync'ing. If you are someone who loves this game, or looking to purchase your first Final Fantasy video game, I extremely recommend getting Final Fantasy X HD Remaster for the PS4. It is absolutely worth every penny. With the PS4's "Share" feature, and high quality graphics, this game is the perfect addition to your gaming library. After purchasing this game for the PS4 I will have no questions about getting the XII HD remaster as well. I was extremely pleased with the outcome of this game. I will enjoy getting platinum trophies for each X and X-2.

The Final Fantasy X/X-2 collection pairs two of Square's venerable JRPG Final Fantasy games back from the PlayStation 2 era, and repackages them into one experience, with a graphical overhaul and trophies (for those who like collecting them). As for the games themselves, you're mostly buying this series for the first game, though both games take place in the same universe. The second game is a little more lighthearted than the first game, and its story generally doesn't measure up to the original. However, for completionists there's plenty of gameplay for your buck here, as you could log anywhere from 75-100 hours on each game. If you've never experienced a Final Fantasy game and are looking for one that still looks relatively modern, you can't go wrong with this package (though the voice acting is hilariously atrocious). For the roughly $20-30 price tag, it's worth experiencing again (or for the first time).

This is a very good remaster of a very old PS2 game. Polygon count has been increased, cutscenes have been redone, or at least increased in resolution, and of course the game itself has an improved resolution! The story is considered by some to be one of the best in the FF series, and in my opinion, the best part of getting these 2 games for $10 bucks combined is the playtime. Each game is about 70-100 hours long! No matter what anyone says, games, like movies or books, never decrease in the amount of content they provide, they only decrease in price over time, and this was an extremely worthwhile purchase. You can't buy anything that will take 200 hours of fun time in the world for $10 except wonderful remastered packages like this. Definitely recommend for nostalgia, value, and the improved graphics! Enjoy!

I can't really do this game justice with any review I could write. All I know is, this game is pretty cheap these days--a steal at it's price here at BB. I played this game ages ago, but I'm glad it was remastered so I could replay it again. Whats cool about the PS4 release is that you get the option to choose between the old soundtrack and the new one, which is great since I much prefer the older version. What's not so good is that the face models of the characters look more static in the remaster than in the original. Characters' faces look like they have no emotion sometimes. Still, it's not such a big detraction from the overall experience. This is my third time buying the game (bought it again not long ago on the VITA) and I can already see myself replaying it soon. Great game that stands the test of time.

I never had the opportunity to play this game as a kid because I did not own a PS2. But I have always heard good things about it. Now as an adult with a PS4, I figured I would give it a play. The visual display and the sound are definitely refined from the PS2/Xbox/Dreamcast/Gamecube era. And the gameplay is nostalgic and brings back memories of the turn-based FF games we've come to know and love. My roommate who has played the game years ago tells me that this is amazingly remastered and he would definitely play the game again in this HD format.

FFX has been my favorite game since it came out back when I was in 5th grade. RPG gameplay in which you take turns fighting against opponents, almost-linear walk path so it's hard to get lost, and best of all, amazing storyline that will make you want to spend hours to explore. Follow Tidus and the gang to explore the wonders of Spira. With a great cast of characters to play, you will find yourself a favorite or more. You will get two games in one disc but I wasn't really a huge fan of FFX-2; it's still playable though. If I can turn back time, I would tell myself to just play the first game and don't worry about the 2nd. The first game's ending was perfect already.

Final Fantasy X was a revolution when it was first released on the Playstation 2 way back when. It was the first time characters were given voice actors, first to be able to switch characters in and out during the middle of battle and just the first Final Fantasy on a new platform. It paved the way for new iterations to come. Final Fantasy X-2 was also a trailblazer, being the first true sequel to a Final Fantasy. It was a more light hearted Final Fantasy, but a true sequel none the less for those that wanted to spend a little more time in the land of Spira! Both great games and both made with a face lift on the newest Playstation console.

Final Fantasy X was the first FF game for the PS2, and was a gorgeous game in its day (and holds up well in this remastered version). The plot is absolutely ridiculous, but if you love old-school RPG's with long, unskippable cut-scenes, then give this a shot. If you remember the game foundly (and it's sequel, also included), then it's worth picking up. If you like 40 plus hour-long RPG's, then pick it up. If you like your RPG's to make sense, look elsewhere (basically, a big ball of SIN is coming to destroy the world, and you have to figure out what it is and how to stop it). Still, it can be a fun experience and a nice throughback to RPG's gone-by.

It has been since the days of the PS2 that these games have seen the light of day, and what better way than to play them again, touched up on PS4. I am not really bothered by all of these HD collections if they are done right, and they are reasonably priced. This collection includes both Final Fantasy X and X2, and is my definition of done right. While they are not completely redone, they do warrant a purchase because they are such great games. Just have fun playing these games, because it is Final Fantasy after all, the best two FF games on PS2 remade for PS4.

Final Fantasy X and X2 is probably the greatest games on a netx gen console. 10 set the standard for fun. If it was blitzball or just listening to your party banter during fight sequences you are going to have fun. The only negative is to me it doesnt look much different. It is only a port with added color. I think square enix could have done some body textures because i still see polygons. If Square added skin textures maybe more life like angles this game would be epic. Now i do think this game deserves a buy. 2 great games on 1 disc. Now excuse me but my besaid aurochs are the team to beat.
